Nusa Penida Diving: Visit Bali Waters to See Manta Rays

In nations with large archipelagos, marine ecotourism is becoming more popular. Ecotourism itself is a concept of tourism activities that contain elements of conservation. An integrated coastal management approach must be carried out comprehensively. This study aims to find out the challenges of marine ecotourism of special interest in Nusa Penida Bali Indonesia. The research was conducted in July 2024 using a survey method. The results showed that the challenges to marine tourism activities are getting bigger because there are so many foreign tourists who want to do diving and snorkling at Manta Point. There were 13 species of manta rays (Manta alfredi) found. Temperature is 29oC and salinity 33 ppt is ideal for Manta rays live. Management in ecotourism with manta rays must be integrated so that this achieve sustainable tourism

Роль промышленного туризма как одного из направлений туристической деятельности в регионе Свердловская область

The relevance of this article is that industrial tourism is a relatively new direction in tourism activities. The purpose of the article is to analyze the activities of industrial enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region, which are involved in the field of industrial tourism. The article uses the following research methods: the factor analysis method allows us to analyze the influence of individual factors on the promotion of tourist services in industrial tourism. The article also uses methods of analysis and synthesis when studying individual industrial enterprises of the Sverdlovsk region. The results of the article are regional data that confirm the development of industrial tourism in the region. Examples are given in Table 1, which enterprises of the region are already involved in the field of industrial tourism. The indicators of the application of the innovative potential of industrial enterprises to maintain their brand are analyzed. In conclusion, the authors note that the development of industrial tourism is an important direction for creating human resources in the region, for attracting investment from regional enterprises and for a positive image of industrial enterprises.

Особенности развития малых городов Калининградской области как центров городского туризма

This article examines spatial differentiation, natural and cultural-historical resources, socio-economic potential of tourism, tourist and recreational clusters, zoning and mechanisms for the development of tourism activities in small towns in the Kaliningrad region. Particular attention is paid to the development of such cities as Baltiysk, Pravdinsk, Nesterov, Mamonovo, Slavsk and Ladushkin. The article also presents maps, diagrams and tables that illustrate the main results of the study.

Determining The Satisfaction Level of Tourists in Rural Tourism Activities

This study aims to determine tourists' satisfaction level in rural tourism activities. The study was conducted in Nallıhan district of Ankara province. Nallıhan is a district established on the historical Silk Road. The district has its own historical and natural beauty. With the bird paradise on the Sakarya River basin being taken under protection in 1994, the tourism value of Nallıhan district has also increased. The sample size was determined as 258 by simple random probability sampling based on main population rates. The socioeconomic characteristics, communication behaviors, and satisfaction of the tourists were determined in the study. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted in the study to determine the factors affecting the tourists' satisfaction level. Factor analysis was conducted on the economic, social, and environmental variables used as independent variables in the multiple linear regression analysis. According to the result of the multiple linear regression analysis, a positive significant relationship was determined at the 1% significance level between cultural values, economic factors, and environmental factors and the satisfaction level of the tourists. Although the satisfaction of the tourists regarding payment is at a satisfactory level, compliance with the standards should be ensured and inspections should be carried out by the relevant units. To transfer rural areas to future generations, tourists' awareness of environmental problems should be increased and posters and brochures should be prepared in this direction. Meetings should be held with local people and tradesmen about Nallıhan tourist areas and their awareness should be raised. Social media training should be provided to Nallıhan district businesses and they should be encouraged to use social media actively in terms of promotion and marketing.

Overview on the characteristics of houseboats in the Royal Belum State Park, Perak, Malaysia

ABSTRACT In Royal Belum State Park, Perak, Malaysia, houseboats have become tourist attractions, complementing its biodiversity and natural landscape. Nevertheless, studies have yet to be carried out on houseboats in Malaysia in general or in Royal Belum State Park, indicating a lack of concern about protecting the sustainability of houseboat tourism. Therefore, this study aims to reveal the characteristics of houseboats in Malaysia, represented by houseboats in the Royal Belum State Park. The study’s objectives are to identify the history of houseboat operation in Royal Belum State Park, regulations on houseboats and operators, houseboat operation and management, houseboats’ design and construction, and issues and challenges the houseboat operators face. This study employs a comprehensive methodology, including literature reviews of research publications and official portals and analysis of reports and statistics from the Pulau Banding Jetty. Interviews with houseboat owners and operators provide insights into houseboat management’s history, operation, and challenges. Detailed field investigations focus on houseboat types, tourism activities, and design characteristics. Measurements and drawings clarify the spatial usage and structural details of the houseboats. The study’s findings will help Malaysia recognize houseboats as official tourist accommodations and work toward achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDG9)

Organic Farming Ecotourism: Making Lubuk Bayas Village a Sustainable Educational Tourism Destination

Lubuk Bayas Village is a village in Perbaungan District with a center for organic rice fields in North Sumatra, Indonesia. The village had been certified by the Seloliman Organic Certification Institute (LeSOS) in 2018. In addition to having sizeable organic paddy fields, this village has the potential to become a tourist village with natural beauty and agricultural products. However, there are several obstacles in developing organic rice fields, such as low buying interest, switching from organic to conventional rice fields, and the need for knowledge of tourism management. The aims of this study were 1) To determine the potential for rice field tourism by analyzing consumer attitudes toward organic product tourism, 2) To analyze intentions for organic tourism. We are finding and developing a tourism village development model based on organic agricultural commodities in Lubuk Bayas Village, Perbaungan District. Data were analyzed using LISREL and SWOT analysis. The results of this study indicated that tourism activities and community participation significantly affect consumer attitudes toward organic tourism. Attitudes affect interest in organic tourism in the future. The primary strategy for developing a tourist village is to highlight the primary agricultural commodities, such as organic paddy rice, with the support of Serdang Bedagai's natural and cultural tourist attractions

Factors influencing success of virtual reality in Tunisia’s cultural heritage tourism sites: a UTAUT2 approach extension

The tourism industry is evolving rapidly with the emergence of virtual reality (VR), seen as a viable alternative to traditional travel. Our primary aim is to identify the factors influencing the success of VR and provide recommendations for resources, methods, and technology. Our study presents a multi-dimensional conceptual model for the pre-implementation success of VR in the tourism sector. We applied the UTAUT2 model with an additional contextual concept. Data from 352 participants support our model for assessing perceived VR success in Tunisian tourism. The study confirms the significant positive impact of performance expectancy, hedonic motivation, and facilitating conditions on behavioral intention. Personal innovativeness and trust expectancy positively influence performance expectancy. Conversely, effort expectancy negatively affects hedonic motivation. In summary, our research validates the model's suitability for assessing the intention to use VR in tourism activities. This framework is crucial as VR continues to revolutionize the tourism industry.

The Structure and Dynamics of Creative Tourism: An ePortfolio Approach

Contributing to limited knowledge of creative tourism product development and operationalization processes in small cities and rural areas, ePortfolios were used as an online fieldnote depository for photographs and texts, which were entered by geographically dispersed researchers within the CREATOUR research-and-application project. The ePortfolios, as a type of research diary, record and examine the ways in which 48 different creative tourism activities were structured, organized, and implemented. The thematic analysis of this empirical data identified five temporally distinct organizational moments that comprise the creative tourism activities and reveal the nuances of active participation, learning, and community engagement as key elements characterizing creative tourism activities. Findings indicate that creative tourism activities are fertile ground for the contemporary tourist trends of wanting to go beyond “gazing” and to experience active involvement, which in these activities involved four different types of active participation. The ePortfolios also highlight the significance of the learning component within creative tourism, illustrating some ways in which learning is integrated into tourism activities. Links to the community are revealed with, for example, elderly women acting as artisan teachers, through which local participation is enabled and communication between visitors and residents is fostered. The use of ePortfolios as an “exploratory” research platform and tool in tourism research is also discussed, for example, in terms of stimulating creative expression and offering researchers freedom to present discovered aspects that may not be captured in “preplanned” data forms and processes.

The performance of tourism companies has received a lot of interest from researchers in various fields and intellectual trends (sociology, psychology, economics) in order to improve and develop their performance and measurement tools to suit different circumstances. The ability of tourism companies to continue facing their surroundings in which they operate does not depend only on plans and good preparation by the administration, but must be accompanied by continuous monitoring and follow-up of human resources and the methods of work followed and how to implement their plans and objectives required to achieve the desired results to increase the internal tourism movement, and points out The practical reality indicates the increasing importance of the performance of tourism companies as they are one of the most important sectors that contribute to the development of tourism activity. From the above, the main question can be raised (Can tourism companies influence the development of domestic tourism?) The researchers reached a set of conclusions, the most important of which is that tourism companies have a strong relationship with the development of domestic tourism, and the methods of work used by the administration have an impact on the development of domestic tourism and that domestic tourism preserves the local currency and achieves economic benefits for the country and reduces the leakage from the local economy. PENGARUH DAYA TARIK WISATA KAMPUNG KOPI CAMP TERHADAP EKONOMI MASYARAKAT BATUNGSEL, TABANAN

The Covid 19 pandemic has caused the tourism sector to experience a decline due to reduced tourist activity. One of the government regulations to avoid crowds makes most people prefer to stay at home longer. To continue to comply with government regulations to avoid crowds, some people can still carry out tourist activities by staying in accommodation that is close to where they live. This habit is known as a staycation. Canggu Tourism Village is one of the destinations that is popular with domestic tourists for staycation activities. This research aims to examine and analyze the determining factors in domestic tourists' decisions in choosing accommodation in the Canggu Tourism Village as a staycation location. This research used 100 respondents with purposive sampling. Data will be analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis and using factor analysis. Based on the results of calculations using factor analysis, there are 16 variables which are grouped into 4 factors, namely push and pull factors, recommendation factors and social media, self-motivation and the location and atmosphere of accommodation in the Canggu Tourism Village. Providing accommodation services with a staycation concept must be well organized and always innovated so that tourists will return to visit this village.

PENGEMBANGAN GASTRONOMY GARDEN SEBAGAI WISATA EDUKASI DI DESA TARO KABUPATEN GIANYAR BALI

With the development of new tourism will be able to increase the interest of tourists to visit Taro Village. The development of Gastronomy Garden is more to the concept of educational tourism development and tourism activities. The purpose of this study was to identify the tourism potential of tourist attractions in Gastronomy Garden and the potential development of educational tourism in Taro Tourism Village. This research is in the form of primary data in this research in the form of field observation results, while secondary data in the form of location description data and and the history of the formation of these tourist attractions. Data collection in this study using observation, interviews and literature studies with analyzed with descriptive qualitative. The results of this study indicate the potential of educational tourism that can be developed in the gastronomy garden. The potential is seen from cognitive, affective and behavioral aspects. Cognitive aspects can be seen through the procedures for planting plants used as food ingredients, caring for plants, choosing plants used and procedures for processing food ingredients. From the affective aspect, it can be seen about the attitude and way of thinking of the community, which includes the procedures for selecting and using plants. Then from the behavioral aspect regarding skills in processing food. Therefore, it is important for tourism stakeholders to develop this educational tourism. This is so that it can provide educational value to tourists who visit and can maintain this tour in a sustainable manner.

KIDS CLUB: CHILD-FRIENDLY HOTEL MARKETING STRATEGY

Chilld-friendly hotels are one of the choices of family tourists in choosing accommodation while on vacation to Bali with a span of more than one night. The choice of child-friendly hotels is inseparable from the desire of parents to provide facilities and activities that can provide new experiences and exciting ways to take advantage of vacation time. The facilities offered are integral to the world of children such as outdoor activities related to physical and indoor activities related to children's concentration abilities. The activities offered by the hotel are painting, coloring, storytelling, drawing, watching movies, and outdoor activities, namely parks made with the concept of adventure. Hard Rock Hotel Bali is one of the hotels that provides a kids club with full activities divided by age and supporting facilities provided. Kids Club is an activity for child tourists offered by the hotel to provide children with activities to fill their free time while at the hotel. Kids Club is the initial consideration for family travelers before deciding which hotel to stay at. Kids Club by Hotel is considered a product that can be sold to increase the interest of family tourists accompanied by hotel room facilities such as family rooms, connecting rooms to rooms decorated with ornaments that children like. Kids Club: This child-friendly hotel marketing strategy (a HardRock Bali Hotel case study) will be: 1) Becoming a child-friendly hotel pilot. 2) Promote child-friendly kids clubs in every hotel. 3) The change in travelers' perspectives is related to the benefits of Kids Club in Child-Friendly Hotels. The formulation of the problem to be raised is 1) Kids Club as a marketing strategy for child-friendly hotels and 2) The concept of a Child-Friendly hotel with supporting facilities. Data were collected by observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaire dissemination, literature studies, and documentation techniques. Data analysis techniques use qualitative description. The results of this study are expected to provide new knowledge in the tourism industry about child-friendly hotels with the right definition according to the predetermined appeal.

Travel Bubble in Langkawi: Insights from Hotel Managers of Muslim-friendly Budget Hotels

With the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic, stringent restrictions were imposed on tourism activities worldwide to curb the virus’ spread, resulting in disastrous consequences for the tourism sector. The Travel Bubble program was introduced in selected destinations in response to this crisis. Langkawi Island in Malaysia was chosen as the pilot location for the Travel Bubble initiative, beginning September 16, 2021. This study aims to investigate the impact of the Travel Bubble on Muslim-friendly budget hotels, both during its implementation and 18 months after its inception. This study employs a qualitative approach that entailed semi-structured interviews with seven managers of Muslim-friendly budget hotels. The findings demonstrate that while the Travel Bubble program initially boosted optimism by rejuvenating the tourism industry, it later became clear that the hotels did not equally reap its benefits. For the initial phase, only one theme emerged: Travel Bubble provides short-term benefits. Eighteen months after its launch, three themes were recognised: Langkawi is expensive, business-minded financial management, strategic location and loyal customers. From the findings, understanding and catering to customer needs and preferences is crucial for sustained success. Besides that, Langkawi must engage in sustainable innovations, which entails recognising and leveraging distinctive features to stand out in the market and sustain its competitiveness. Further, often addressing complex challenges requires collaboration and partnership among stakeholders. This study offers several practical implications for the operators of Muslim-friendly budget hotels, such as the importance of agility (adaptability to changing circumstances), resilience (resilience in the face of challenges) and customer focus (attentive to the needs and preferences of guests).

The measurement of multiple influence paths of residents' positive perception in ethnic minority village tourism destinations: a case study of Ping'an Zhuang Village in Longsheng County

Ethnic tourism is a delightful activity for tourists to visit ethnic minority gathering areas to fulfill their aesthetic demands by observing and experiencing the cultures of ethnic minorities. Based on the grounded theory, quantitative analysis and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis, this paper delves into the measurement of the positive perception of residents in ethnic minority villages and the multiple paths of its influencing factors, aiming to offer policy notions for promoting the dynamic protection of ethnic minority culture and rural revitalization. The findings revealed that: (1) The positive perception of residents in tourist destinations can be classified into three dimensions: “positive perception in economy,” “positive perception in social and cultural aspects,” and “positive perception in environment,” and the localized scale encompasses nine items; (2) The influencing factors consist of three elements: place belonging, perceived power, and residents' participation. The enhancement of residents' positive perception demands a combination of these factors rather than relying solely on any single one; (3) Regarding the perception of residents in any dimension, the direct impact of perceived power on the positive perception of residents in ethnic villages is weak. Place belonging and residents' participation are the core conditions for the formation of the positive perception of residents in ethnic villages. Strengthening the emotional connection and participation mechanism of residents is an effective means to boost their positive perception.

Preserving the Past: A Dynamic Analysis of Heritage Tourism and Land Conservation in Mamluk Cairo

Historic urban cities face increasing pressure from tourism, necessitating sophisticated approaches to visitor management that protect both heritage values and local communities. The current study develops new sustainable metrics—sustainable visitor capacity (SVC) and Sustainable Visitation Index (SVI)—to provide a multifaceted assessment of heritage destination management beyond simple visitor volume calculations. The SVC considers operating hours, site capacity, and walking time, while the SVI holistically evaluates time efficiency, spatial distribution, and physical comfort. Applying these metrics to seven routes through the historic Mamluk monuments revealed significant variations in sustainability performance, with SVI scores ranging from 48.9 at Al-Ṣalῑba/Al-Sayyida Zaynab Streets to 92.8 at Northern Al-Mu’izz Street. The findings demonstrate that while the recommended daily visitor capacity ranges from 1286 to 2182 visitors across different routes, actual visitation frequently exceeds these thresholds, particularly in commercial zones. Geographic analyses and on-site studies identified the integration of tourist activities with commercial, residential, and religious uses as a critical factor contributing to overcrowding, especially evident in areas like Al-Ṣalῑba Street, where low SVI scores reflect challenges with unorganized markets and local congestion. The study offers site-specific recommendations for heritage managers, focusing on dynamic visitor management systems and zoning strategies that consider the dual function of these historic corridors as both tourist attractions and vital local thoroughfares. This research provides heritage managers with practical tools to quantify and enhance the sustainability of visitor experiences while preserving site integrity within complex urban heritage contexts.

Safety Education in River Tourism: A Concrete Step Toward Sustainable Tourism in Tlatar The river tourism safety awareness program in Tlatar Tourism Village aimed to enhance the understanding and awareness of local communities and tourism operators regarding the importance of safety in water tourism activities. Using a participatory method, this activity involved theoretical briefings and practical simulations that provided comprehensive knowledge on the proper use of safety equipment, self-rescue techniques, and preventive measures in emergencies. The results of this activity showed a significant improvement in participants' understanding and awareness of tourism safety aspects, which is expected to reduce the risk of accidents and enhance the quality of tourism in the area. In conclusion, this awareness program successfully improved tourism safety standards and fostered environmental awareness among the local community. This activity contributes significantly to the development of safe and sustainable tourism in Tlatar Tourism Village.

Applying a time-geographical perspective to understand tourism mobilities of families with children who use wheelchairs

Individuals with disabilities encounter numerous challenges in the realm of tourism travel. Various constraints can affect their opportunities to engage in travel, influence their choice of destinations and modes of travel, and shape their overall tourism experiences. Research on tourism for individuals with disabilities has predominantly concentrated on identifying barriers to travel. This paper employs a time-geographical framework to extend beyond this focus, examining how various constraints are negotiated and the resultant outcomes for tourism trips. The study is based on interviews with Swedish parents whose children use wheelchairs. The findings indicate that these families face multiple constraints impacting their tourism opportunities and experiences, primarily related to rules, regulations, and inaccessible physical environments. Furthermore, the interviewed parents do not perceive their children’s disabilities as constraints but rather highlight the challenges of using a wheelchair in inaccessible tourism contexts. While some constraints are negotiated to facilitate tourism, not all desired tourism activities can be fully realised. Consequently, the families in this study exhibit rather routinised travel behaviour. An important finding is that families who travel with a child with a disability should be considered part of the family tourism market, rather than the disability tourism market.

Science–tourism intersections onboard Arctic expedition cruise ships: Reflective insights from a fieldwork at the geographic North Pole

In August 2023, we both embarked on an icebreaker cruise ship in order to conduct fieldwork with and among cruise passengers and together with four other scientists. Departing from Longyearbyen, Svalbard, this two-week ship-time fieldwork took us to the geographic North Pole, across the Arctic Ocean sea ice, and to several locations in northern Svalbard. While cruise vessels operating as platforms of opportunity for researchers are not new, cruise tourism in the polar regions has raised ethical and sustainable concerns in times of increasing awareness regarding climate change. In addition, cruises bringing together tourists and scientists are currently objects of vivid discussions both in academia and the media. Drawing from our ship-time fieldwork experience, we aim to contribute to these recent debates. Building on the work of Lamers et al. (2024), we argue that misunderstanding on the concept of platform of opportunity can lead to potentially poor data collection, scientists’ disappointment, and detrimental reputation for both science and tourism actors. We argue that carefully selecting research projects that align with the specificities of expedition cruise tourism, and facilitating nighttime research are effective strategies to avoid these misunderstandings. This may also enhance the credibility of cruise companies that may often be accused of science- and greenwashing.

Urban planning preconditions for the development of tourist and recreational potential of the Irkutsk region

The paper examines the fundamental approaches to the formation of regional tourist and recreational systems within urban planning theory and practice. To explore the urban planning preconditions for the territorial and spatial development of tourism in the Irkutsk region. The objectives include summarizing the theoretical principles of tourism organization in urban planning, identifying systemic factors in the development of regional tourist and recreational systems, and determining the territorial and spatial preconditions for tourism development based on an analysis of the tourist and recreational potentials of the Irkutsk region. The study provides a methodological synthesis of the foundations of tourist and recreational activities within the frameworks of territorial planning and functional-typological models of urban planning analysis, highlighting factors and evaluation indicators for the sustainable development of the spatial structure of tourism as a subsystem of regional settlement. The paper reviews the Russian practice of planning and implementing the concepts of regional tourism systems. The territorial organization of tourism and recreation in the Irkutsk region is analyzed in terms of a landscapetopological context, resource potential, and the established settlement framework. The fundamental approaches to the urban planning organization of the tourist and recreation system of the Irkutsk region are presented in terms of the planning structure of the framework as a hierarchically subordinate system of the main, secondary and auxiliary axes based on transport, historical-cultural and naturalresource contexts. The paper introduces a proposal for organizing extra-framework (zonal) elements of the system, establishing the background for tourism development and nature conservation based on strict nature reserves of federal, regional, and local significance.

The Sustainable Tourism Index: Policy And Regulatory Environment

The purpose of this study is to analyse the contribution of policy and regulatory environment in measuring the Sustainable Tourism Index of Tourism Villages in Indonesia. The research focuses on four tourist villages, namely Penglipuran (Bali), Nglanggeran (Yogyakarta), Setanggor (West Nusa Tenggara), and Belitar Seberang (Bengkulu). This research uses a mixed method approach. The Sustainable Tourism Index from The Economist Intelligence Unit was developed in measuring the Sustainable Tourism Index of Tourism Villages in Indonesia. The results showed that the contribution of the policy and regulatory environment category in the formation of the Sustainable Tourism Index in Indonesia was 35.77 or with an average indicator performance of 89.54%. All tourist villages in Indonesia have conducted cooperation between public and private stakeholders and have conducted an inventory of tourism assets. Most of the tourist villages have village regulations on local tourism, milestones and action plans, monitoring and evaluation metrics as well as leasing and licensing for tourism activities and have a stable political environment. However, not all tourist villages have implemented global standards. In order to increase international tourist arrivals, global standards are needed in the management of tourism villages in Indonesia.
