The library terminology: Theoretical and practical approaches

The author responds to the article by Elena I. Kozlova and Valentina A. Tsvetkova "Terminological aspects in the processes of standardization of library and information activities" (published in the journal "Scientific and technical libraries", № 3, 2020) devoted to the draft state standard of basic terms and definitions of library and information activities. The author objects to their interpretation of mathematical induction method in formal logic, by which they justify the attempt to standardize the concept of "library and information activities". Through this method, the opposite result would be achieved; redundancy or even artificiality of the proposed phrase is demonstrated consequentially. The author argues that, within the framework of the Federal Law "On librarianship", the term "library and information activity" as proposed for federal standardization along with the term "information and library activity" as it appears in the current standard, are both wrongful. The author also criticizes other theoretical and methodological provisions proposed by the state standard writers.The author suggests to improve the system of standards for information, library and publishing (SIBID) by segregating the competence areas of information, library and publishing activities, without mixing them in any proportion or combination. SIBID must comprise the concepts of "library" and "publishing", since these terms are embedded in the name of the system and, therefore, they make the original reference points. The terminology set must be based on the key terms of laws and other national regulatory and legal acts, though the definitions of these terms may differ, and even radically differ, from those fixed in legal acts where they convey juridical conceptions while the standard is to regulate their professional, scientific, and practical meaning, which indeed completely corresponds to the legal interpretation. The author introduces the following approach to these general terms: since the library system is essentially of document and communicative character, the key concepts of the system shall form its foundation: library, librarianship, document, library collection, reader (user), reader (user) group, material and technical resources of library, library re-source studies, library model, library collection model, and other general terms within the discipline.

Library technicians collaborating with librarians on knowledge syntheses: a survey of current perspectives

Introduction: Though it is well recognized that librarians bring value to knowledge synthesis teams, library technicians have largely been excluded from this process. This study was designed to determine the extent to which library technicians are currently participating in knowledge syntheses, to investigate where these two professional groups, librarians and library technicians, see opportunities for future collaboration, and to identify the challenges and successes perceived by both groups. Methods: An electronic survey, consisting of multiple choice and short answer queries, was distributed to targeted listservs. The target audience for survey participants was librarians, or library technicians, who worked in a library with any scale of knowledge synthesis service. Responses were collated, coded, and organized by themes. Results: 170 responses were received and evenly represented librarians (n=84) and library technicians (n=79), including 7 incomplete responses. 31% (n=50) of respondents stated that they currently collaborate or have collaborated in the past on knowledge synthesis projects with the other professional group. Tasks completed by the library technician included article retrieval, citation management, retrieving reference lists, and database searching. The major challenge reported with collaboration on knowledge synthesis projects was the library technician qualifications. Major successes included time efficiency for librarians, and the opportunity for technicians to develop new skills.

Virtual Reality Digital Twin for a Smart Factory

This paper describes authors’ research in developing collaborative virtual reality applications as an interface for monitoring big data by creating a digital twin of the factory and sync the movement of virtual machines with the real ones. The platform allows an interactive reading of the sensor telemetry and processes data, maintenance information and access to a large technical library. For data acquisition and reports, a novel image data method was used. The data values that are encoded as pixel colors of images, using different encoding methods for each data type (text, integer, float, Boolean) are also encrypted using an image as a symmetric encryption key and are stored in the cloud in a time base folder structure, assuring a better data compression, security and speed, compared with the existing solutions based on JSON and NoSQL databases. The platform allows the remote access from the VR environment to the machines consoles and allows parametrization and remote commands.

ACTIVATION OF THE LIBRARIES OF HIGHER EDUCATIONINSTITUTIONS IN PROMOTING EDUCATIONAL WORK ANDSOCIAL – PSYCHOLOGICAL ADAPTATION OF FRESHMEN

The article continues many years of research that contributed to the emergence of a number of scientific papers on identifying the features of the development of scientific communication by integrating knowledge, methods, technologies on the example of interaction in the system «Library-Education». The authors analyze the typical shortcomings of information preparation of school graduates, determine the directions of development of new technologies in educational work, outline the method of promoting the social and psychological adaptation of freshmen by means of the communicative and scientific environment of the library of the institution of higher education. It is determined that the educational work in Ukrainian higher education institutions is carried out on the basis of democracy, the use of the potential of student self-government and aims at quality training, ensuring a harmonious, holistic development of the individual, capable of independent thinking, free public choice. The goal is to identify the typical shortcomings in the information preparation of school graduates for the development of new technologies in educational work and to promote the social and psychological adaptation of freshmen by means of the communication and scientific environment of the library. The authors outline the main directions of educational work, trace the positive and negative changes in technologies of information preparation of students of schools. The study identified typical shortcomings in the information preparation of school graduates, identified the tasks of the library of higher education institutions on the basis of the «National Strategy for the Development of Education in Ukraine for 2012-2021» and «Strategies for the development of library affairs for the period up to 2025 «Qualitative changes of libraries to ensure sustainable development of Ukraine»». The authors suggested a scheme of the developed lecture. The lecture is recommended for first-year students, on the example of the Scientific and Technical Library of Odessa National Polytechnic University. It is aimed at the rapid adaptation of freshmen to work with the website of ONPU Scientific and Technical Library, for the successful use of electronic resources in the educational process. The trial took place in September 2019 for the first-year students of the Department of Information and Media-Communication of the Odessa National Polytechnic University.

Using scanned images to estimate salt formation on the surface of cement composites

Introduction. An engineering method is proposed for assessing salt formation on the surface of cement composites exposed to adverse operating conditions. The technique is based on the histogram method used to determine the dominant brightness of the half-tone image of scanned cement composites. The criterion for ranking composites is a relative dimensionless value –– a metric obtained by comparing the brightness of a grayscale image with the brightness level of white.
 Materials and methods. We selected three types of compositions of composites in the amount of 21 items; each of them contains three samples –– a control sample and samples exposed to high humidity and positive temperatures for 15 and 45 days. Each composition is represented by a scanned raster image of the sample surface. The images are further subjected to digital processing using a software program written in the C++ programming language and the OpenCV technical vision library. This allows you to use the available methods and classes to develop algorithms to solve the problem in question and to convert a full-color RGB image to a grayscale image. Such images are used to analyze histograms, which determine the dominant level of brightness to determine the numerical metric for quantifying the salt formation on the surface of cement composite samples on the basis of their scanned images.
 Results. A description of the software algorithm, used to detect salt formation on the surface of cement composite specimens that have passed performance tests under high humidity conditions at positive temperatures, is presented. The method of ranking cement composite samples using the values of their dominant brightness relative to the brightness of control samples is shown. The comparative analysis of the study is presented in the form of numerical data and explanatory diagrams.
 Conclusions. Software modeling is employed to demonstrate the expediency of the methodology for the assessment of salt formation on the surface of cement composites and other building materials prone to salt formation.

Factors Associated with the Prevalence of Precarious Positions in Canadian Libraries: Statistical Analysis of a National Job Board

Abstract Objective - To collect and share information about the prevalence of precarious work in libraries and the factors associated with it. Methods - The authors collected and coded job postings from a nationwide job board in Canada for two years. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to explore the extent of precarity and its relationship with job characteristics such as job type, institution type, education level, and minimum required experience. Results - The authors collected 1,968 postings, of which 842 (42.8%) were coded as precarious in some way. The most common types of precarious work were contracts (29.1% of all postings) and part-time work (22.7% of all postings). Contracts were most prevalent in and significantly associated with academic libraries and librarian positions, and they were most often one year in length. Both on-call and part-time work were most prevalent in school libraries and for library technicians and assistants, and they were significantly associated with all institution types either positively or negatively. Meanwhile, precarious positions overall were least prevalent in government and managerial positions. In terms of education, jobs requiring a secondary diploma or library technician diploma were most likely to be precarious, while positions requiring an MLIS were least likely. The mean minimum required experience was lower for all types of precarious positions than for stable positions, and the prevalence of precarity generally decreased as minimum required experience increased. Conclusion - The proportion of precarious positions advertised in Canada is substantial and seems to be growing over time. Based on these postings, employees with less experience, without advanced degrees, or in library technician and assistant roles are more likely to be precarious, while those with managerial positions, advanced degrees, or more experience, are less likely to be precarious. Variations in precarity based on factors such as job type, institution type, education level, and minimum required experience suggest that employees will experience precarity differently both within and across library systems.

The Libraries’ contributing to the Victory in the Great Patriotic War

Review of the book: Mazuritsky A. M. Libraries in the years of Great Patriotic War: A learning guide. – Orel, 2020. – 139 p.The reviewed textbook introduces to the history of Russian librarianship during the Great Patriotic War. The structure of the manual is overviewed. The didactic analysis demonstrates the presentation logic which facilitates learning and is of great ethical educative value. In terms of scientific discussion, recommendations are given for further development of this subject scope to cover the following issues: 1) library support facilities for high morale and combative mood of the Red Army (the front-line and navy libraries); 2) library support of healing and bibliotherapy (hospital libraries); 3) library and information support of promising research and development projects (scientific and technical libraries of plants and factories); 4) libraries in the system of cultural, educational, moral and psychological support for the residents of blockaded Leningrad; 5) library support of high morale of the population and its faith in the victory over the enemy. The significance and relevance of the learning guide is emphasized. The reviewer recommends to prepare a textbook on the history of library construction during the Great Patriotic War.

Taking Multimedia to the Extreme

The role and function of the Multimedia Resources Department has evolved as collections and services have moved online. This article outlines Sprague Library's creative use of space, technology, and programming to reimagine Multimedia Services. Montclair State University's Media Department has expanded the scope of its services and utilized technology to enhance group study spaces to encourage collaborative efforts on group and media projects. This involved working closely with the Library Technical Support Specialist and Information Technology Division in planning and designing the collaborative spaces. In addition, the author will discuss the library's use of exhibits, workshops and programming to highlight media collections and services as well as the use of Zoom in facilitating community and campus engagement through programming. New services such as lending musical instruments and presentation printing will also be discussed.

Studio: A Place for Art to Start by E. Arrow

Arrow, Emily. Studio: A Place for Art to Start. Illustrated by The Little Friends of Printmaking. Tundra, 2020.
 With its saturated colour palate and complex, pop-y imagery, Studio exudes cover appeal and an abundance of cool charm. Studio is a first-time venture into creating a children’s book by both writer, Emily Arrow, and the illustrators, husband-and-wife team, The Little Friends of Printmaking. Both contributors bring a huge amount of talent, experience and enthusiasm to this collaboration.
 Emily Arrow is a bona fide children’s lit social media celeb and, as Arrow’s wider oeuvre of literacy focused YouTube videos illustrates, she understands the pacing and tempo well-suited to an engaging children’s book. Studio has a fresh idea to convey to its younger readers and the decision to tackle representing these ideas in verse deserves legitimate praise. The cadence of the verse does stumble occasionally, but as it’s in pursuit of the complex, conceptual topic of the book, that can be forgiven.The characters' faces and the detail in their depiction is appealingly reminiscent of children’s author and illustrator Richard Scarry, while the excellent use of black for framing and detail in contrast with a supersaturated palate is an assertive, design-influenced aesthetic. These elements give Studio a fresh but endearingly retro equilibrium. 
 Studio offers a visually rich introduction and warm homage to the concept of the multidisciplinary studio. The premise of Studio is a challenging one to negotiate and represent. A careful reading reveals “for rent” signs on the available studio spaces depicted in the book, so this is not focused on the sort of urban, community arts studios that children might already be familiar with. The adult caregiver accompanying the child on the tour of Studio is the one shopping for a studio space and is revealed at the end of the book as the primary user of the studio. The caregiver is sharing their experience of finding a studio with the child at the centre of the narrative. This is slightly problematic in a children’s book as this scenario doesn’t provide the child with agency in motivation, selection, or even autonomous use of the creative space being lauded. Studio is bringing an interesting concept and opportunity to a young audience in a very attractive way but, realistically, it’s one that probably won’t be accessible to a child until they are older. 
 This tension would function similarly if the child and caregiver in the book were exploring any workplace. While the child might be permitted to indulge in a sense of ownership, this isn’t a child’s space. It’s a space where children would be entirely guided, carefully supervised or absent. So, what is a creative child to do in this circumstance? Happily, Studio doesn’t overlook this dilemma and resolves the problem of agency with the book’s conclusion. The child, having been inspired by their tour of the studio and their caregiver’s newly found studio space, has set up an art space in their own home. 
 In this way, Studio functions as a creative call to action, offering children the aspirational goal of pursuing creative work. With its dynamic details and artful page design, Studio absolutely succeeds in conveying the appeal and functionality of a studio space and encourages creative children to understand it as an exciting and achievable goal.

Comfortable library space in the Information Society. (On the occasion of Lev Z. Amlinsky’s 90<sup>th</sup> Anniversary)

The paper coincides with the 90-th anniversary of Lev Zakharovich Amlinsky, professor and doctor of science in pedagogy. The findings of Lev Amlinsky’s studies represented in his recent publications in «Scientific and Technical Libraries» journal for the period of 2011–2016 are analyzed. The subject scope of the works comprises: design of remote library and information services and library resources, architectural and constructional design, provision of psychological comfort for patrons and librarians. Lev Amlinsky’s concept of library design is an anthropocentric one, i. e. the interests of humans, patrons and librarians, must primarily come to the fore when designing libraries. The necessity for apprehending traditional libraries as the space for patrons and librarians, rather than the physical space for books is substantiated. Technological dependence of interior library space has to be replaced with psychological and ergonomic expediency. The scholar has validated a fundamentally new concept of library space arrangement: the libraries are pieces of architecture, however, their interior architecture should meet their functional purpose. The role of efficient architect – librarian cooperation between an under librarian’s leadership is emphasized.

Remote Work in Library Technical Services: Connecting Historical Perspectives to Realities of the Developing COVID-19 Pandemic

The concept and practice of remote work in library technical services is not new, but the scale and speed of the transition to remote work for many libraries due to the COVID-19 pandemic is unprecedented. This column provides an overview of pre-pandemic literature on remote work in library technical services and briefly examines the history, planning, case studies, technology and equity concerns, challenges, and potential benefits of remote work. Initial connections are drawn between existing literature and the impact of the pandemic on remote work, and future directions for research and discussion are offered.

What we talk about when we talk about medical librarianship: an analysis of Medical Library Association annual meeting abstracts, 2001-2019.

Objective:This study seeks to gain initial insight into what is talked about and whose voices are heard at Medical Library Association (MLA) annual meetings.Methods:Meeting abstracts were downloaded from the MLA website and converted to comma-separated values (CSV) format. Descriptive analysis in Python identified the number of presentations, disambiguated authors, author collaboration, institutional affiliation type, and geographic affiliation. Topics were generated using Mallet's Latent Dirichlet Allocation algorithm for topic modeling.Results:There were 5,781 presentations at MLA annual meetings from 2001–2019. Author disambiguation resulted in approximately 5,680 unique authors. One thousand ninety-three records included a hospital-related keyword in the author field, and 4,517 records included an academic-related keyword. There were 438 presentations with at least 1 international author. The topic model identified 16 topics in the MLA abstract corpus: events, electronic resources, publications, evidence-based practice, collections, academic instruction, librarian roles and relationships, technical systems, special collections, general instruction, literature searching, surveys, research support, community outreach, patient education, and library services.Conclusions:Academic librarians presented more frequently than hospital librarians, though more research should be done to determine if this discrepancy was disproportionate to hospital librarians' representation in MLA. Geographic affiliation was concentrated in the United States and appeared to be related to population density. Health sciences librarians in the early twenty-first century are spending more time at MLA annual meetings talking about communities, relationships, and visible services, and less time talking about library collections and operations. Further research will be needed to boost the participation of underrepresented members.

Methodological and reporting quality evaluation of meta-analyses on the Chinese herbal preparation Zheng Qing Feng Tong Ning for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis

BackgroundZheng Qing Feng Tong Ning (ZQFTN) is a sinomenine (SIN) preparation that has been used in clinical practice. Our study aimed to assess the methodological and reporting quality of meta-analyses on the Chinese herbal formula ZQFTN for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).MethodsSystematic searches were carried out with the 5 following electronic databases from inception to July 2019: China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang, VIP database for Chinese technical periodicals (VIP), Cochrane Library and PubMed. The quality of the methodology and reporting was measured with the assessment of multiple systematic reviews 2 (AMSTAR 2) scale, the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) statement and the Grading of Recommendations, Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE).ResultsEight studies were identified. Among the 16 items of the AMSTAR 2 scale, four items were optimally reported (“Y” =100% of the items), and another four items were poorly reported (“Y” =0% of the items). Only 2 studies received a good overall score (“Y” ≥50% of the items). Regarding the PRISMA statement, the scores of 5 studies were lower than the average score (17.69), indicating that the quality of the reports was very low. In terms of the GRADE, none of the 61 results were of high quality (0.0%). Fifteen results were of medium quality (25%), 34 were of low quality (55%), and 12 were of very low quality (20%). Among the five downgrading factors, deviation risk (n = 61, 100%) was the most common downgrading factor, followed by inconsistency (n = 30, 50%), publication bias (n = 17, 28%), inaccuracy (n = 11, 18%) and indirectness (n = 0, 0%).ConclusionsThe methodological and reporting quality of the meta-analyses and systematic reviews in the included studies are less than optimal, and researchers should undergo additional training and follow the AMSTAR 2 scale, PRISMA statement and GRADE to design high-quality studies in the future.

Technical Colleges on the Cutting Edge: Implementing New Technologies at HGTC Library

The integration of new technologies on college campuses is an imperative to enhance learning and prepare students for career success. This article describes the implementation of new technology at a technical college library. Thanks to a multi-layered grant from The Chapin Foundation HGTC Library was able to install a video wall, 10 zSpace machines, and a PolyCom system all in the same space located inside the library. Uses of this equipment in other settings as well as at HGTC are considered.

Collaboration and Integration

The University of North Florida (UNF) transitioned to Canvas as its Learning Management System (LMS) in summer 2017. This implementation brought on opportunities that allowed for a more user-friendly learning environment for students. Working with students in courses which were in-person, hybrid, or online, brought about the need for the library to have a place in the Canvas LMS. Students needed to remember how to access and locate library resources and services outside of Canvas. During this time, the Thomas G. Carpenter Library’s online presence was enhanced, yet still not visible in Canvas. It became apparent that the library needed to be integrated into Canvas courses. This would enable students to easily transition between their coursework and finding resources and services to support their studies. In addition, librarians who worked with students, looked for ways for students to easily find library resources and services online. After much discussion, it became clear to the Online Learning Librarian (OLL) and the Director of Technical Services and Library Systems (Library Director) that the library needed to explore ways to integrate more with Canvas.

Critical success factors for total quality management implementation and implications for sustainable academic libraries

PurposeThe purpose of this study is to investigate the critical success factors for total quality management implementation and implications for sustainable academic libraries in Ghana. This study is part of a PhD project that focussed on selected technical university libraries in Ghana.Design/methodology/approachThis study adopted a quantitative approach to collect the data. Samples of 124 participants were involved in this study. PLS-SEM (Smart PLS3) software was used to analyse the data. Convergent, discriminant validity assessment was computed. Eight variables of critical success factors were tested in relation to total quality management implementation at selected academic libraries in Ghana.FindingsThis study established that out of the eight variables tested, six of them (i.e. top management commitment, employee innovation employee training, organisational culture, teamwork and effective communication, quality performance) indicated a significant positive relationship with total quality management implementation apart from strategic planning and human resource management.Research limitations/implicationsThis study was limited to eight variables as the critical success factors mentioned in the previous paragraph. The use of one methodology might be a limitation as the use of multimethod might have given a more comprehensive picture than the case. This study was limited to only technical university libraries in Ghana hence caution must be exercised when applying the results to contextually different academic environments. The results are applicable to academic universities library in Ghana and beyond if they are adjusted to suit the context.Practical implicationsThis study is timely as it may lead to effective total quality management implementation and the sustainability of technical university libraries in Ghana and Africa in general.Originality/valueThe proposed model can be used to enhance the smooth implementation of total quality management in academic libraries in general and Ghana in particular. The framework is termed as Eddie and Pat's Achievement of Quality Performance (EPAfQP) model.

Members of the family <i>Lamiaceae</i> Lindl. as sources of medicinal plant raw materials to obtain neurotropic drugs

The aim of this workis to review and analyze the data published in the modern scientific literature obtained in pharmacological, pharmacognostic and pharmacotechnological studies of various types of raw materials obtained from members of the familyLamiaceaeL., which were sources of biologically active substances, pharmaceutical substances, total extracts and the drugs – with a neurotropic activity.Materials and methods.For the review, we used the information of scientific literature from open and accessible sources of the last twenty years, located in the scientific and technical libraries of institutions, as well as in electronic databases: Elibrary, PubMed, Scopus, Cyberleninka, GoogleAcademy, J-Stage. The search inquiries were: the species of the familyLamiaceae(Russian and Latin), the samples of medicinal plant materials based on them as well as the names of the drugs and biologically active substances obtained from these raw materials.Results.When working with the sources of scientific information, the main attention was paid to pharmacologic tests performed during the studies on laboratory animals and proving the presence of neurotropic activity in the studied objects – essential oils and extracts from plant raw materials: aqueous, aqueous alcoholic, and methanol ones. It has been established that the potential of the therapeutic and preventive application of pharmaceutical substances and drugs based on the medicinal plant materials obtained from 30 genera members of theLamiaceaefamily, remains unrealized despite the close attention of various researchers.Conclusion.This review comprised 71 species from 30 genera. Despite the significant level of the previous study presented in the analysis of this publication, an enormous potential of this family’s species remains unexplored. In the future, they can be of both – pharmacognostic and practical interest, in particular, in creation of new medicinal preparations of the neurotropic action based on them.

A New Direction for Library Technical Services: Using Metadata Skills to Improve User Accessibility

An increased awareness about the importance of resource accessibility for all library users has set the stage for transforming traditional cataloger roles into a new realm of possibility. The Acquisitions & Discovery (A&D) and the User Experience (UX) departments of North Carolina State University Libraries have formed a partnership to explore the benefits of working together amidst this climate of innovation and change. A pilot project was created to develop a workflow through which technical services staff can use their metadata skills to help resolve accessibility issues found on the Libraries’ main website. By performing this work, staff can grow in technical expertise, enhance the quality of metadata in web content, and build mutually beneficial partnerships within the library community.

Automation of creation bibliographic description of dissertation abstracts

The article deals with the optimization of the cataloging process of dissertation abstracts at the State Scientific and Technical Library (SSTL) of Ukraine. Automation of entering bibliographic descriptions of dissertation abstracts into the database is based on the fact that according to the current rules a bibliographic description of the publication is created from the title page. However, abstracts do not have a cover sheet, so the main information is taken from the cover. According to the rules for composing a thesis abstract, the title page is designed so that each paragraph contains certain bibliographic information. The process of automating the creation of a bibliographic description of abstracts, in fact, involves the programmatic placement of indices of division in the text from the covers of these documents, which facilitates their further import into the relevant database. The analyzed automated abstract introduction process was developed with the help of VBA software for Word and tested in the Scientific Research and Development Fund department of the SSTL.

ЗАБЕЗПЕЧЕННЯ ІНФОРМАЦІЙНО-ОСВІТНІХ ПОТРЕБ СТУДЕНТІВ-ІНОЗЕМЦІВ ЯК НЕВІД'ЄМНА СКЛАДОВА ДІЯЛЬНОСТІ НАУКОВО-ТЕХНІЧНОЇ БІБЛІОТЕКИ НАЦІОНАЛЬНОГО АВІАЦІЙНОГО УНІВЕРСИТЕТУ

У статті узагальнено практичний досвід забезпечення інформаційно-освітніх потреб студентів-іноземців в Науково-технічній бібліотеці Національного авіаційного університету. Проведено аналіз теоретичних засад та сучасного практичного досвіду організації роботи з іноземними студентами в закладах вищої освіти України, виявлено особливості цієї категорії студентів, щодо забезпечення інформаційних потреб в процесі навчання, спрощення їх адаптації до умов освітнього, інформаційного та побутового середовища країни перебування. У статті зазначається, що Національний авіаційний університет є одним із провідних навчальних закладів, що надає освітні послуги іноземним студентам. З’ясовано, що Науково-технічна бібліотека НАУ здійснює інформаційне забезпечення та обслуговування іноземних студентів на загальних засадах і не має у своєму складі окремого структурного підрозділу для роботи лише з цим студентським контингентом. Але для іноземних студентів створені достатні умови для інтелектуального та фізичного доступу до інформаційних ресурсів через сайт бібліотеки і в її комп’ютерних класах. У статті також розглядаються проблеми, пов’язані із безпосереднім обслуговуванням іноземних студентів у підрозділах бібліотеки і професійною готовністю бібліотечного персоналу до спілкування, що має певну специфіку. З’ясовано що Науково-технічна бібліотека НАУ за десятиліття роботи з іноземними студентами набула цікавого і корисного досвіду з організації роботи з цією категорією читачів та забезпеченню їх інформаційно-освітніх потреб. Обґрунтовано необхідність узагальнення та поширення цього досвіду, як і удосконалення забезпечення інформаційних потреб іноземних студентів в НТБ НАУ.
