Researchers will discuss the problems found in the implementation of educational supervision in schools/madrasas. Educational supervision is an educational management process that aims to improve the quality of education through supervision, direction, and guidance of teachers or educators. Academic supervision is one of the scopes of educational supervision that aims to assist teachers in improving the quality of academic activities, both inside and outside the classroom. Researchers identified several problems faced by educational supervisors, such as the complexity of the principal's managerial tasks, the lack of preparation of the supervised teachers, the high element of subjectivity, the frequent changes of principals, the lack of teacher discipline, and the lack of teacher knowledge about managing an effective teaching and learning process. In addition, the quality of teachers in carrying out teaching tasks is also a challenge, as teachers often face difficulties in incorporating new innovations into learning. Researchers emphasize the importance of educational supervision in improving teacher performance and ultimately impacting on student learning outcomes. Therefore, efforts are needed to overcome the problems faced in implementing educational supervision, so as to improve teacher professionalism and the overall quality of education.

Project-based science learning with MELESAT content using loose parts is the choice as a learning model for young children to build new knowledge, with a scientific mindset children are getting to know Al-Khaliq, exploring new things, being creative, innovative, thinking out of the box, are adaptive to the environment, able to produce work and can develop and practice skills related to the real world. One way to learn science more constructively and meaningfully is through project-based learning that integrates MELESAT components using loose parts as open-ended play materials. Through continuous particSainstion in various play activities in the classroom and outside the classroom, children are actively involved in dialogue that is rich in scientific thinking patterns by utilizing complex and abstract scientific process skills such as observing, asking, observing, predicting, evaluating, and comparing. Discussions with children during the learning process about scientific thinking concepts related to mathematics, existence, literacy, engineering, science, art and technology merge with strengthening coaching by teachers for children during the learning process. The results of this research led to the conclusion that with the right teacher guidance, the learning process provides many opportunities for children to develop 21st century skills to prepare children for life in the future.

Penguatan Nilai-Nilai Luhur Pancasila Dalam Al-Qur’an Kepada Peserta Didik Pada Layanan Bimbingan Konseling

Counselors as teacher's guidance and counseling should provide reinforcement of the noble values ??of Pancasila in the Qur'an in teaching and learning activities so that students are able to control themselves as good and obedient students in the life of the nation and state. Pancasila sublime value is embedded as the foundation of the Indonesian people who are the spirit of the nation. Administratively, in the 1945 Constitution, Pancasila contains the values ??of national character education which play an important role as a spiritual dimension, a cultural dimension and an institutional dimension. For this reason, the noble values ??of the Pancasila should be practiced in life and lived rather not only as symbols. Often the slogan of the Pancasila noble values ??is a guideline for the life of the nation and state and a reflection of religion because Pancasila itself is contained in the Qur'an itself. Indeed, the precepts in Pancasila, accept things, which are also new to Muslims. Affirmation to the essence of God, humanity, unity, deliberation and justice is a terminology that is widely used in the Qur'an to be the goal of Islamic prescribed. The problem among the natives with the packaging of Pancasila is indigenous (non-Arabic) so that the taboo and blind people judge it as a value that comes from religion. In this case, this article will be discussed in depth and analytically so as to be able to open up the discourse of thinking about the noble values ??of the Pancasila itself contained in the Qur'an.

Digital education through guided pretend play

BackgroundThe importance of play for children and its potential for learning are widely recognized. However, it is contested whether teachers should guide play, particularly pretend play, and how guided pretend play supports children's agency and learning. In this study, pretend play is employed in (unplugged) digital education and the teacher's guidance and children's involvement are examined to answer the following questions: what roles do teachers take on during guided pretend play and how do they enable children's learning about digitalization and digital transformation? AimsThis qualitative study examines how teachers guide pretend play in ways that support learning, focusing on the topic of digitalization and digital transformation. SampleFifteen teachers took part in the study and implemented the pretend play suggestions in their kindergartens with children aged from four to six years. MethodThe pretend play was filmed. The video data were structured and sequences of teachers joining in the pretend play and guiding from within were selected. These sequences were analysed in-depth using multimodal interaction analysis. ResultsThe results indicate that teachers guide pretend play from within by taking on different roles (play leader or co-player). Teachers model within pretend play, for example, by assigning tasks or thinking aloud, and provide scaffolding, encouraging children's learning about digitalization and digital transformation. ConclusionThrough co-playing and leading, teachers support a prolonged and in-depth joint focus, as well as the agency of the children. Such guided play is termed “sustained shared playing” and has great potential for learning.

Preference for Student Activity over Teacher Guidance: Effects of Task-Related Knowledge and Learner or Instructor Roles

During interactions within educational settings, individuals may find themselves in the position of a learner or an instructor. This study examined how individuals change their perceptions of task difficulty and their preferences for educational approaches oriented toward teacher guidance and student activity based on whether they possess task-related knowledge and whether they are in a learner or an instructor role. University students enrolled in teacher education programs were divided into four groups based on two variables: knowledge (with or without) and role (learner or instructor). Study 1 (N = 359) utilized a between-participants design, whereas Study 2 (N = 141) employed a mixed design, with role as a between-participants variable and knowledge as a within-participants variable. Participants with task-related knowledge perceived a mathematical problem to be less difficult and exhibited a stronger preference for student activity, and participants in the instructor role showed a stronger preference for student activity. These results suggest that individuals tend to distance themselves from teaching behaviors when they have task-related knowledge and are in an instructor position, thus highlighting the potential misalignment of preferences between learners who lack knowledge and more knowledgeable instructors.

Perspectives of medical undergraduate students toward self-directed learning

Objectives: Self-directed learning (SDL) is a process in which individuals take the initiative with or without the help of others in diagnosing their learning needs, formulating goals, identifying human as well as material resources for learning, implementing appropriate strategies and evaluating learning outcomes. In SDL, the onus of learning is on the learner and learning control is slowly transferred from facilitator to learner. Hence, this study helped to understand the SDL readiness in undergraduate medical students and figure out whether it differed between students of 2nd and 3rd professional years. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on undergraduate medical students of 2nd and 3rd professional year of tertiary care medical college hospital in south India after receiving permission from the Institutional Ethics Committee. A total of 285 students were considered in this study from both years after informed consent. A pre-validated questionnaire of the self-rating scale for SDL (SRSSDL) tool was included, and it comprised five components, namely, awareness, learning strategy, learning activity, evaluation and interpersonal skills, with 12 questions in individual sections. Demographic data were expressed in percentages while the Chi-square test and independent sample Mann–Whitney U-test were applied to understand the differences between 2 professional years. Results: Out of 285 students, 56.8% had a moderate level of readiness, followed by a high level of readiness (42.9%). The majority of the students from both academic years had a moderate level of readiness toward SDL. Learning strategy had the highest mean response score of 3.7 ± 0.52, followed by awareness with 3.69 ± 0.49. This mean score reflects that the majority of participants’ responses recorded were either ‘sometimes’ or ‘often’ for various components of the SRSSDL tool. The distribution of awareness, learning strategy, learning activities, evaluation and interpersonal skills did not show any significant association across academic years and gender. Conclusion: The moderate level of readiness shows that areas of improvement must be identified and evaluated with teacher guidance when necessary. The SRSSDL tool can be used as a measure of evaluation, as it helps to classify student readiness toward SDL.

Effect of Self-Directed Learning Approach on Academic Outcomes of ALS Learners in Digos City

The purpose of this quasi-experimental research study was to ascertain that self-directed learning is an educational technique in which learners choose what and how they would learn under the teacher's guidance. The general idea is that learners take responsibility for their own learnings as ALS learners for the 2022–2023 school year, and this can be done either individually or in groups. At this stage in the research, the teacher is experiencing challenges in facilitating curriculum delivery and management and how she strategizes to overcome her difficulty and insights to mitigate such for better learning process among learners. The method used was quasi experimental research where assumptions were considered given fifty (50) participants of ALS Learners whose responses and identity were treated with utmost confidentiality. Findings revealed that a self-directed learning approach must be used on academic outcomes of ALS learners as a strategy that would further improve the academic performance of learners in order to make the teaching meaningful. If learners participate in the learning process by experiencing the unfolding of the lesson, they will appreciate the concept being developed, and therefore will learn.

Pengaruh Media Pembelajaran (Mopurat) Digital Terhadap Peningkatan Keterampilan Menulis Siswa Kelas VII MTS Al-Hidayah

In the world of education, Indonesian is one of the subjects that must be taught to students. Indonesian covers the fields of language and literature. In literary activities, writing poetry requires teacher guidance. Learning to write poetry using the monopoly media of folk poetry (MoPuRat) is a concept that presents monopoly as a visual-based medium. This research aims to build the writing skills of many students who are still less active. This type of research is an experiment with a quantitative description method. This research is a type of true experimental design or actual research. The population in this study were all class VII students at MTs Al-Hidayah, while the sample used was class VII-D as the control class and VII-C as the experimental class. The data collection techniques used are observation, tests and questionnaires. Data analysis techniques use formulas to calculate student and teacher activities, test and posttest results, and student response questionnaire results. The results of the research show that the application of folk poetry monopoly media (MoPuRat) in learning to write folk poetry goes well and smoothly. In the control class the average test value was 71.12 and the average posttest value was 77.84. Meanwhile, in the experimental class the average pre-test score was 72.133 and the average post-test score was 87.133. Even though the average score of the two classes increased, the experimental class increased more than the control class. There is a significant difference in learning to write poetry between the control class and the experimental class. This is evident from the results obtained t0 = 2.9882 with db 53. Based on the calculation table, t0 is greater with ttotal at t0 0.005 = 2.00 and t0 0.001 = 2.9882.

The Role of Technology in Enhancing Adaptive Behavior Skills for Students with Intellectual Disabilities

The current study documents key contributions in teaching students with intellectual disabilities using an integrative STEAM approach. This study aimed to understand the role of technology and arts-based methodologies in improving adaptive behavior skills for students with intellectual disabilities. The researcher used descriptive analytical methods to review, analyze, compare, and interpret related theories and literature. The study highlights how technology and arts-based approaches enhance adaptive skills and support development in self-care, mobility, educational skills, independence, performance, and community integration for these students. The promising finding is that an integrative STEAM approach, incorporating technology and arts-based learning, improves adaptive behavior skills for students with intellectual disabilities. Based on the results, the researcher recommends that the Ministry of Education provide guidance, counseling, seminars, and workshops for teachers on using assistive technology and arts-based methodologies due to their importance in rehabilitating and educating individuals with intellectual disabilities.

A Confucian approach to a democratic classroom

This article delineates a Confucian approach to a democratic classroom by drawing upon the educational thought of third-century philosopher Xunzi. It is argued that Xunzi’s approach is generally compatible with the three salient features of a democratic classroom: (i) it is a way of life guided by the principles of equality, freedom, justice, and cooperation; (ii) it comprises a community of learners who are bounded by close ties and shared interests; and (iii) it provides a caring learning space that promotes openness and reflection. However, Xunzi does not conceive a democratic classroom as a means to equip students for participation in political democracy. His educational views are also not premised on the notion of liberal individualism. Rather, Xunzi adheres to a communitarian worldview where an individual’s identity, conduct, and commitments are necessarily situated within a community, and guided by yi (rightness). Furthermore, he rejects unfettered freedom for learners by balancing student choice with textual transmission and teacher guidance.

Meningkatkan Kemampuan Sosial Anak TK Kelompok B Melalui Permainan Tradisional Kabadi-Kabadi

This research aims to improve children's social skills through implementing the Kabadi-kabadi Traditional game in Group B TK Ar-Rahman Tobengeano, North Kolaka Regency. The research uses a classroom action research (PTK) design with two cycles. The research subjects consisted of 16 children in Group B TK Ar-Rahman Tobengeano. Data is collected through observation and documentation of the learning process. The results showed that the implementation of the ball maze game significantly improved children's social abilities. In cycle I, there was an increase from 40% to 72.22%, and in cycle II the success rate was 93.75%. The implication of this research is that the ball maze game can be used as an effective alternative method in developing the social skills of children aged 5-6 years. It is expect that this research can contribute to the development of learning strategies in kindergarten and provide guidance for teachers to design learning activities that support children's social development.

This study explores literacy competence (LC) in elementary schools, emphasizing its importance while revealing its current deficiencies. The primary goal is to examine LC through the lens of the Guided Reading (GR) Model and its sociocultural influences. Using an Explanatory Sequential design as part of a mixed-method approach, the research included 200 fourth-grade students from six elementary schools, comprising 94 males and 106 females. Research tools such as pre-tests and post-tests, observations, questionnaires, and in-depth interviews with students, parents, and teachers were utilized. Data analysis was conducted using the Mann-Whitney nonparametric test. The study's findings reveal that the GR model effectively elevates LC from a low to medium level. Literacy comprehension advanced from a factual literal understanding to an interpretive one. However, sociocultural elements, such as book reading facilities, parental guidance, and technology use, were found to affect LC, with inappropriate technology usage having a negative impact. This research underscores the importance of meaningful teacher guidance via the GR model in developing literacy skills, emphasizing the significant role sociocultural factors play. Further investigation into the effects of technology on learning and other sociocultural factors not covered in this study is crucial.

Design and practice of blended teaching of internal medicine nursing based on O-AMAS effective teaching model

BackgroundSelf-directed learning (SDL) ability is the basis for cultivating nursing students’ ability to find and solve problems, lifelong learning, and providing high-quality nursing talents for healthcare. The O-AMAS (Objective, Activation, Multi-learning, Assessment, Summary) model adheres to the teaching philosophy of student-centered, result-oriented, combines the advantages of online and offline teaching, enriching teaching resources and learning channels, diversifying teaching and evaluation methods, and emphasizing integrating and applying knowledge conducive to improving students’ SDL ability and achieving teaching objectives. This study explored the course design, practical, and application effects under the O-AMAS effective teaching model in internal medicine nursing to provide a basis and reference for combining effective teaching models with blended teaching in future nursing courses.MethodsThis study is a self-controlled before-after trial. The participants were 76 nursing undergraduates from Hunan Normal University. This study utilizes the O-AMAS effective teaching model to design internal medicine nursing courses and implement blended online and offline teaching. Main links: The overall course design and application are student-centered, after clarifying macro and micro multi-dimensional learning objectives, with online and offline blended teaching environments activated students’ learning behavior and diversified teachers’ teaching activities, then based on instant and dynamic provide effective feedback; finally, students take the initiate to make a brief and potent summary under the teacher guidance. After the course, a unified assessment of the learning effect of nursing students was conducted, including the evaluation of the SDL ability of nursing students, a final comprehensive evaluation grade, and a teaching satisfaction survey.ResultsThe nursing students’ SDL ability scores are higher than before teaching, and the results were statistically significant (P < 0.05). The final average comprehensive evaluation grade of nursing students was 78.38 ± 7.12. More than 96% of the students are satisfied with this course.ConclusionApplying for internal medicine nursing blended teaching integrated with the O-AMAS effective teaching model is conducive to improving nursing students’ SDL ability, academic grades, and teaching satisfaction.

Mark Haddon’s The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, Narrative Fallibility, and the Young Adult Reader

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon presents a remarkably complex narrator, 15-year-old Christopher Boone. Due to his implied autism spectrum condition, Christopher is possibly the ultimate in “reliable” narrators: he struggles to articulate emotions and is incapable of telling or understanding lies. His point of view (POV) is an extreme form of first-person limited, with Christopher at times seeming (or even yearning) to be more computer than human. The limitations of Christopher’s experience are reflected in his narrative self-presentation, and while, ordinarily, these would damage any sort of achieved authority, they instead underscore the book’s powerful thematic messages. Christopher’s narrative fallibility echoes the developmental stage of its crossover young adult (YA) audience: Curious Incident works with fallibility to establish a strong narrative voice that inspires an empathetic connection between Christopher and his implied reader. This article therefore considers how narrative fallibility is linked to constructions of adolescence in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, and further explores the relationship between the narrator and the implied reader(s). Positioned within narratology-based theories and secondary research on Haddon and representations of neurodiversity in YA literature, it provides guidance for teachers and scholars who might question the value of authenticity in this or similar novels.

From Lecture Theaters to Online Classrooms: Examining The Growth of the Flipped Classroom

Traditional models of education involve teachers imparting knowledge to students in a classroom setting. However, new learning theories suggest that students do not all acquire information in the same way. Some learn better through independent exploration and discovery, while others thrive in social environments with hands-on instruction. This debate around student-centered versus teacher-centered pedagogy is far from resolved. One approach that is gaining attention is the "flipped classroom," which restructures learning activities so that domestic tasks typically done as homework are performed in class, with teacher guidance. Meanwhile, lectures previously given during class time are accessed autonomously by students at home, often via online video. This model arguably provides flexibility that better caters to varied student needs and learning styles. However, there are also challenges to consider when transitioning to a flipped model. This article explores the arguments on both sides, providing a balanced perspective on the benefits and limitations of traditional and flipped approaches based on current research in educational psychology. First, the article delves into the term "flipped classroom" and its relationship with the Bloom taxonomy. It then examines different flipped classroom models and finally the benefits and limitations of the flipped classroom application.

Pengaruh Bimbingan Guru PAK dan Budi Pekerti Terhadap Peningkatan Disiplin Belajar Siswa Kelas V SD Negeri 048232 Kabupaten Karo Tahun Pembelajaran 2023/2024

The aim of this research is to find out how big the influence of PAK Teacher Guidance and Characteristics is on the learning discipline of class V students at SD Negeri 048232 Karo Regency for the 2023/2024 Academic Year. The research method used is a quantitative method. The population is all class V students of SD Negeri 048232 Karo Regency for the 2023/2024 academic year, totaling 39 people and this research is population research. Data was collected using a positive closed questionnaire with 30 items, namely 17 items for variable Karo Regency for the 2023/2024 Academic Year, proven through: 1) Test analysis requirements: a) positive relationship test obtained rxy = 0.665 &gt; rtable (-0.05.39) = 0.316. b) The significant relationship test obtained a t0 value of 5.413 ttable (0-0.05, den-2-37) 2.021. 2) Influence test: a) Regression equation test, obtained regression equation Y = 17.881 + 0.219X. b) Regression coefficient of determination test (r²) = 44.2%. 3) Hypothesis testing using the F test obtained F0 &gt; Ftable (0-0.05, in the numerator k30, dk in the denominator-2-39-2-37) namely 29.30 1.51. Thus Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected.

Applying the science of learning to teacher professional development and back again: Lessons from 3 country contexts

BackgroundEvidence from the science of learning suggests that playful learning pedagogical approaches exist along a spectrum and can support student learning. Leveraging active engagement, iterative, socially interactive, meaningful, and joyful interactions with content also supports student learning. Translating these concepts into guidance and support for teachers is lacking. MethodWe introduce a tool designed to support teachers in implementing across the facilitation spectrum and leverage the characteristics that help children learn. Across three international contexts, we engaged with 1207 teachers and the tool was used 4911 times. ResultsStudent age, the intended learning goal, and context influenced teachers’ use of the tool, suggesting that contextualization is critical, even when basing programs on evidence-based, universal principles given by the science of learning. ConclusionScience of learning research must be effectively translated but we must use evidence from teachers and real-life classrooms to inform those studying the science of learning.

Validation of the Teacher Questionnaire of Montessori Practice for Early Childhood in the Dutch Context

Montessori education has existed for more than 100 years and counts almost 16,000 schools worldwide (Debs et al., 2022). Still, little is known about the implementation and fidelity of Montessori principles. Measuring implementations holds significant importance as it provides insight into current Montessori practices and because it is assumed that implementation might influence its effectiveness. In the Netherlands, it is especially important to measure fidelity because of the country’s history of flexible implementation of Montessori principles. No instruments currently exist that are specifically designed to measure Montessori implementation in the Dutch context. This study aims to validate a translated version of the Teacher Questionnaire for Montessori Practices, developed by Murray et al. (2019), within the Dutch early childhood education context. Additionally, it seeks to investigate the extent to which Montessori principles are implemented in Dutch early childhood schools. Data were collected from 131 early childhood Montessori teachers. Confirmatory factor analysis revealed that the Dutch dataset did not align with the factor structure proposed by Murray et al. (2019). Subsequent exploratory factor analysis led to the identification of a 3-factor solution, encompassing dimensions related to Children’s Freedom, Teacher Guidance, and Curriculum, which shows some similarities with Murray et al.’s (2019) factors. Implementation levels in the Netherlands varied, with the highest level of implementation observed in Children’s Freedom and the lowest in Curriculum.

Early Field Experiences of PTEs in ELT Programme of a State University in Türkiye

Teaching programs in Türkiye consist of a 4-year process. Internship practice takes place in the last year of this process, each in two separate terms. Prospective teachers observe, evaluate, prepare course content, and teach under the guidance of in-service English teachers in public schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education and with the support of supervisors at the faculties and complete their internship. However, the timing of the process is thought to be too late, which is carried out during the 4-year education period and where prospective teachers will be actively involved in schools/real teaching environments and gain experience. "Early Field Experience", which is also found in the world literature and has exemplary applications, has been implemented in some private universities in Türkiye today but has not yet found its place in state universities. This current research studies the subject of “Early field experience”. The present study focussed on the effects of "Early Field Experience" practice in a state university in Türkiye. The study analyses the reflections of Early Field Experience (EFE) on prospective teachers' anxiety and makes the voices of prospective teachers heard. In this convergent mixed method study, STAS (Student Teacher Anxiety Scale - Hart, 1987) was used as a quantitative data collection tool, and a semi-structured interview form consisting of open-ended questions was employed for the qualitative part. In the study, prospective teachers of English had an EFE implementation process covering 10 weeks of observation and internship. The results of the quantitative data showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test scores for the level of anxiety of PTEs (t=4.16; p&lt; .05) in favour of the post-test. Findings of interviews revealed that the prospective teachers' concerns were in the areas of teaching, students’ background, classroom management, readiness to teach, and burnout before the EFE; and after the EFE, they experienced improvements in classroom management, appropriate language use, readiness to teach, experience and teaching content.
