A Study of Rural Tourism Promotion Based on Intelligent Tourism Platform

Rural tourism depends on the environmental natural resources in suburb, using the difference between countryside and city to provide leisure service and rural experience for urban residents. Since traditional form of rural tourism cannot meet the needs of the current tourism market, it is necessary to build an intelligent tourism platform with the new information technology as the support, so as to boost the transformation and upgrading of rural tourism development in countryside and promote the comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of rural tourism.

Can Proper Funding Enhance Sustainable Tourism in Rural Settings? Evidence from a Developing Country

Rural tourism is often considered to be a factor in the development tendencies of rural space, a factor in the development of agriculture, as well as a factor in reducing rural depopulation. The primary aim of the research was to look at the problems in financing sustainable rural tourism in the case study of Serbia. The secondary one was to analyze the factors that may influence the self-financing capacity of rural tourism service providers. The findings confirmed the main hypothesis that financial resources are a significant limitation of the development of sustainable rural tourism. It was found that there is a high correlation between the amount of income generated and the structure of the workforce. The results verified that rural tourism entities were not making sufficient investments due to lack of financial resources, i.e., adequate financing modalities. It can be concluded thatin order to develop sustainable rural tourism, financial investments are needed, both at the level of service providers and at the macro level.

A Study on the Correlation among Social Interaction, Career Self-Efficacy and Well-Being of Employees in Rural Tourism

Rural areas gradually become modern people in cities taking good care mentally and physically due to the pressure in life or the memory of past life in rural areas. Rural tourism and vacation in rural areas are therefore gradually preferred by city people. With the effect of financial crises in past years, a lot of people become dissatisfied with the life. Well-being would have a person present joy, content, and rich psychological feelings. Countries in the world expect to create well-being cities for the people’s well-being. Aiming at rural tourism employees in Fujian Province, total 380 copies of questionnaire are distributed, and 287 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 76%. The research results are expected to provide reference for the development of sustainable rural tourism of governmental departments and businesses to achieve the sustainable development of life, production, and ecology in rural areas.

Impact of Tourism on Sustainable Development of Rural Areas: International Experience

Elimination of disproportions in the economic development of the country's regions and their transition to sustainable development is one of the priorities of Russian economic policy. This can be achieved by active search for the most effective directions of territorial development, actions aimed to form a positive image, and stimulation of profitable sectors of the economy. Tourism is one of the most effective directions for sustainable development of a territory. The article analyzes the scientific literature related to the problem of the connection between sustainable development of rural territories and rural tourism. The main rural tourism factors contributing to sustainable rural development and synergy effects from rural tourism have been identified based on an expert survey. Cases demonstrating the synergy effects of rural tourism are presented using the case method.

Effects of Environmental Education and Environmental Facilities on Visitors’ Environmental Literacy - A Case of Rural Tourism

From various mass media, it is discovered that environmental anomaly is constantly occurred in past years. It proves that global ecological crises have gradually impacted the earth and the public behavior involving in environmental issues cannot be solved simply by environmental experts, but requires people’s correct environmental understanding and behavior. The solution of environmental issues lies in the development of environmental education; in other words, environmental education is an important tactic to improve environmental issues. Aiming at rural tourism visitors to Fujian Province, total 420 copies of questionnaire are distributed, and 288 valid copies are retrieved, with the retrieval rate 69%. The research results show positive and significant effects of environmental facilities on environmental education, environmental education on environmental literacy, and environmental facilities on environmental literacy. According to the results, suggestions are proposed, expecting to assist in the sustainable development of domestic rural tourism and cultivate the environmental literacy and responsible environmental behaviors of the citizens.

Regional Development of Rural Tourism: The Case of the Gorska Hrvatska Region

Abstract An approach to sustainable tourism through clusters is considered an appropriate strategy in less-developed rural areas of tourist-oriented countries, such as Croatia. This paper clarifies the key challenges of the development of tourism clusters in the region of Gorska Hrvatska and provides new data for an approach to sustainable rural tourism development. Using available secondary data from governmental bodies, non-governmental organizations, protected areas of Gorska Hrvatska, and primary data of the Lika Destination Cluster, the paper explores the key challenges of developing a cluster of tourism and selective forms of tourism. Most tourism clusters in Croatia have remained in the first phase of development for years, even though this approach has failed to to achieve significant results. The key benefits of networking and branding in rural areas are identified and defined, but these potentials are still largely underutilized. The objective of this study is to provide practical recommendations to the Croatian tourism industry on how to learn from the suggested best practices and how to implement them effectively. For that purpose, the case of sustainable tourism located in the Gorska Hrvatska region, called the Lika Destination Cluster is analyzed.

Sustainable Development of Ethno-Villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina—A Multi Criteria Assessment

This paper explores ethno-villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina as an important element of rural and cultural tourism. The attractiveness of natural and cultural heritage is very important for sustainable rural tourism development. In order to improve the process of decision making to enable the sustainable development of ethno-villages, a multi-criteria assessment model has been developed. The methodology is based on qualitative modeling using a multi-criteria analysis via the DEXi software. The model is based on hierarchical relations consisting of three main criteria that are the basis of sustainable tourism development: economic, social, and environmental criteria. The ultimate goal of the model in this study was to evaluate ethno-villages, namely six ethno-villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The results of the study show how ethno-villages contribute to sustainable development.

Model on Problem Characteristics and Sustainable Development of Rural Tourism in Guangdong Province Based on Type Attribute

The 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China stressed the new urbanization strategies, pointing out the promotion of the development from traditional urbanization to new urbanization, which contains the development characteristics as urban and rural overall development, industry interaction, economical and intensive land and harmonious development. It aims to solve the issues relating to agriculture, farmers and rural areas with the strategy of rural vitalization which takes rural tourism as the starting point to drive the development of rural economy, and then realizes the new urbanization. The purpose of this paper is to study the problem characteristics and corresponding classification of rural tourism in Guangdong and establish the sustainable development model of rural tourism in Guangdong. This paper starts from the perspective of rural revitalization, takes the new urbanization as the background, combines the theoretical basis and the realistic environmental factors, extracts the development appeals, existing main problems and causes of rural tourism in Guangdong, and classifies them by combining the characteristics of resource types and other factors. On this basis, combining with the successful experience of rural development at home and abroad, this paper puts forward the selection of the pedigree of sustainable development mode of rural tourism in Guangdong, and the differentiated and targeted design responding to control countermeasures and safeguard mechanism of sustainable development of rural tourism in Guangdong in the context of new urbanization. The experimental results show that the establishment of the sustainable development model of rural tourism can effectively alleviate the existing problems in rural tourism, promote the development of new urbanization and realize the strategy of rural revitalization.

Sustainable Development of Rural Tourism in Guangdong Based on Remote Sensing and GIS

The economic development and the improvement of people’s living quality promote the development of tourism. The acceleration of urbanization has given birth to rural tourism industry. Guangdong has a relatively high economic level and is rich in rural tourism resources which are of rural characteristics. As a result, rural tourism in Guangdong started earlier and has begun to take shape. However, in the context of new urbanization, there are still a series of problems in the development of rural tourism in Guangdong, which restrict the sustainable development of rural tourism in Guangdong. In order to promote the further development of rural tourism in Guangdong, it is necessary to carry out in-depth research and analysis of its reality. Taking Guangdong rural tourism as an example, on the basis of remote sensing and GIS technology, with the help of such research methods as Gini index, geographic concentration index and geographical connection rate, this paper analyzes the space characteristics and resource types of rural tourism in Guangdong and discovers the problems existing in its sustainable development.

Construction of the Connotation and Its Theoretical Analysis Framework of Sustainable Development of Rural Tourism in the Context of New Urbanization

With the continuous advancement of new urbanization in China, the problems of “agriculture, rural areas(RA) and farmers” in China have been gradually solved effectively, and on this basis, the development of rural tourism has also been rapidly promoted. New urbanization and rural tourism(RT) promote each other. On the one hand, the construction of new urbanization promotes the generation of RT; on the other hand, the development of RT promotes the further construction of new urbanization. However, there are also a series of problems in the development of RT in China. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the sustainable-development of RT, construct the relevant theoretical analysis framework, and provide theoretical guidance for the sustainable-development of RT. This paper starts from the concrete connotation of the sustainable-development of RT, comprehensively analyzing the connotation of the sustainable-development of RT from different dimensions, and constructing the theoretical analysis framework by means of index weight calculation. The experimental results show that the connotation of the sustainable-development of RT is extremely rich. To truly realize the sustainable-development of RT, it is necessary to construct the theoretical analysis framework of the development model of RT in order to provide positive and beneficial guidance for the sustainable-development of RT.

Through the investigation and analysis of the new rural construction and tourism development status of Wuqiang Zhouwo music town, this paper finds that although rural tourism in Wuqiang Zhouwo music town has made some achievements, there are still problems such as insufficient awareness and imperfect infrastructure in the development process. In view of the background of new rural construction, the corresponding conclusion is drawn to better promote the socialist new rural construction.

Influential mechanism of farmers' sense of relative deprivation in the sustainable development of rural tourism

Local farmers in rural areas are directly related to the sustainable development of rural tourism. We used in-depth interviews and grounded theory to construct a relationship model of the farmers' sense of relative deprivation, coping behavior, and sustainable tourism development; the model was tested by a questionnaire survey and a structural equation model. We found that farmers perceive 3 types of deprivation: horizontal deprivation, deprivation based on the concept of equity, and vertical deprivation. They typically choose 3 coping behaviors: passive acceptance, public opinion attack, and active resistance. These behaviors have different impacts on the sustainable development of rural tourism in regards to the economy, society, management, and ecology. Therefore, it is of practical significance to study and expand the understanding of the mechanism of these behaviors to construct a system that incorporates qualitative and quantitative information and provides suggestions for managing outcomes.

Rahatsızlık Endeksi Çerçevesinde Bodrum Sosyal Taşıma Kapasitesinin Belirlenmes

The acceptance of the plans and activities carried out for the sustainable rural tourism development by the local population is called the social carrying capacity, and shows the level of unaffected and the degree of tolerance of local people. The measurement of social carrying capacity at specific intervals is of great importance in terms of determining the support of local people in tourism development in the destination. For this reason, the aim of the study is to determine the social carrying capacity of Bodrum which is preferred by tourists and to reveal the level of discomfort felt by tourism development within the framework of Doxey's discomfort index. Face to face interviews were conducted with 365 participants using the survey technique. The data obtained from the interviews were analyzed through Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) and the relationships between the stages of rural tourism development were examined. As a result of the analyzes, it has been determined that the local people of Bodrum have two levels in terms of their social carrying capacity. While the participants in the level of “Excessive feeling”, looking at tourism development positively, other participants in the level of “Indigenous” see tourism development in Bodrum as an option that is more compulsory than it is required.

An Integrated Approach to Determining Rural Tourist Satisfaction Factors Using the IPA and Conjoint Analysis.

Rural tourists satisfaction has a pivotal role in the development of sustainable rural tourism. As a method of identifying critical satisfaction factors, an importance and performance analysis (IPA) technique has attracted growing interest from academics due to it being able to deliver the importance and performance of a product’s attributes from the standpoint of customers. However, IPA is based on the presumption that a linear and symmetrical relationship exists between the performance and overall satisfaction, which has been criticized by many researchers due to its deviation from the facts. On measurement of importance, researchers have not reached an agreement on whether direct or indirect approach should be applied. To measure satisfaction more effectively, this study presents a revised IPA method that integrates IPA, conjoint analysis and importance grid analysis. Based on mathematical psychology and psychometrics theory, the conjoint analysis method can be used to analyze multi-attributes of various products and derive relative importance of attributes in customer satisfaction research. The importance grid analysis method has been applied to categorize attributes by many researchers. It can be used to measure the nonlinear relationship between the performance of attributes and overall satisfaction. In this paper, an empirical study on rural tourists’ satisfaction was undertaken using this integrated method. The results show that the integrated approach is more responsive to attribute performance, thus allowing for improvement of a certain target attribute in the customer satisfaction enhancement process.

Discussion on the Formulation of Government Public Management Mechanism in Rural Tourism Development

In recent years, with the continuous improvement of people's living standards, more and more people choose rural leisure tourism to relax, which temporarily helps them escape from the stress of busy work. General Secretary Xi Jinping emphasized while attending the discussion of the 19th National People's Congress of Guizhou Province that it is not only necessary to encourage the development of country farmhouses, but also shall analyze and forecast rural tourism, and develop measures in advance to ensure the sustainable development of rural tourism. As a new emerging tourism project, rural tourism has been being accepted by all kinds of people. The prosperous development of rural tourism can not only effectively promote the development of rural economy and win the battle against poverty, but also is beneficial to the overall development between urban and rural areas. However, due to a lack of policy support and adequate public management during the development of rural tourism, the development of rural tourism in many areas has shown a disorganized state. In this paper, it analyzes the formulation of the government's public management mechanism in the current rural tourism development process, which will effectively improve the quality of rural tourism development, give a full play to the government's public management functions, and ensure stable development of the rural tourism industry.

Land expropriation in tourism development: Residents' attitudinal change and its influencing mechanism

The development of tourism projects is often predicated on land expropriation. It is therefore important to understand residents' attitudes towards land expropriation and how changes in those attitudes can benefit both the land expropriation process and tourism development. Taking Wudaoliang in Sandaogou village in Hebei province as a case study, this study focuses on residents' attitudinal change by taking a longitudinal approach involving non-participant observation and 180 interviews. Critical event analysis was conducted, and a framework for modelling attitudinal change was adopted. The results show that the attitudes of rural residents towards tourism development were not static but underwent a dynamic process of change across three phases. These results suggest that residents should deepen their involvement in the land expropriation process and that information transparency can reduce social conflict, which will facilitate the sustainable development of rural tourism. The theoretical and practical contributions of this study are also discussed.

Barriers to Stakeholder Involvement in Sustainable Rural Tourism Development—Experiences from Southeast Europe

Participative planning approaches are vital to sustainable development in rural areas. However, stakeholder involvement also faces many barriers. In this Danube region case study, barriers to stakeholder involvement across eight rural regions are investigated. With the standardized conditions provided through an ERDF and IPA funded EU project, special attention could be paid to socio-cultural barriers, specifically concerning perception of sustainability and conflicts of interest. The effects of these barriers to the planning process are seen in the comparison of awareness concerning overall goals, indicators and the regional self-assessments. The implications for planning and management in rural tourism areas find that the perception of sustainability varies greatly, perceived deficiencies increase awareness and that crucial indicators need to be understood by stakeholders beginning a participative planning approach.

Leading Factors of Sustainable Rural Tourism Development: Case of Georgia

Purpose: This study is aimed to identify the leading factors for the tourism industry sustainable development in a less developed country. Design/Methodology/Approach: Sustainable development can be defined as a process of economic and social changes as well as an agreed and coordinated process of natural resource exploitation, direction of investment, scientific and technological development, personal development and institutional change enhance the present and future potential of human needs. In this paper, we have tried to show the factors contributing to the development of the tourism industry. These recommendations make it possible to promote the sustainable development and rapid resuscitation of the tourism industry. In many ways it is about ensuring the quality of life of people. The design of the article includes theoretical explanations regarding sustainable development with emphasis in the tourism industry. Findings: There are proposed more effective policies promoting the industry in addition to specific projects improving the infrastructure and the social feelings about tourism Practical Implications: It was defined a set of measures that can have a positive impact, able to influence the industry in a positive way regarding its direct and indirect effects in the state, regional and local economies of tourism destinations. Originality/Value: This is an important contribution describing and identifying issues related to the Georgian tourism sector. It is a valuable piece of information for policy-makers to adopt the studies proposals for the further sustainable development of the industry.

Community arts as an inclusive methodology for sustainable tourism development

PurposeCommunity arts practice gives voice to a younger generation, who must be studied as part of the development process from commencement, to accomplish building sustainable destination development in the direction of future prosperity for the rural community.Design/methodology/approachThis paper challenges a relatively weak critical practice of the community-based tourism (CBT) by introducing community arts methodologies as a research approach in the context of tourism, the opportunity is created to give voice to a younger generation that must also be included in the development aims of the CBT to achieve sustainable community tourism development.FindingsThe CBT aims to support access to quality participation in the development process. However, investment in education and building tourism entrepreneurs is not inclusive of the future generations beyond the original generation. Consideration of the desires and imaginations of the future generations must be part of the CBT project for tourism development sustainability. Building awareness of the fragility and value of tourist attractions and resources, in a younger generation that never experienced the original attractions of the traditional village, is critical to achieving the objectives of the CBT.Research limitations/implicationsThe paper is not yet attempting to examine the empirical data of this research. Rather, it challenges current CBT research processes as having a narrow reach into a community.Practical implicationsTourism developers and local communities should include an understanding of what directions and what opportunities the next and future generations will have to continue sustainable development. Including children’s imaginations into a community’s tourism development plans will benefit awareness of the present context and assist locals in forecasting the next stage of village development. The present tourism planners would then have a holistic vision for a design strategy sustaining rural livelihoods that acknowledge the limits of nature-based resources and cultural resources.Social implicationsCommunity arts research offers the possibility of inclusive participation of community members. Arts methodology attempts to articulate ideas in visual form, for the aim of discussion, reflection and realization of the desires and concerns of the community in terms of lifestyle, environment and cultural heritage, in preparation for the future generation taking control of tourism development. The process aims to impact future decisions effecting the course of tourism development in rural Thailand.Originality/valueThe paper discusses the potential contribution of community arts practice as a complementary tool by taking into account different aspects of sustainable tourism into CBT concept. The paper evaluates what has been missing in advancing our understanding of sustainable rural tourism development in Thailand. It fills the gaps with a methodological approach that gives voice to the local community. The purpose of this paper is to rethinking the ideology and approach of CBT to be inclusive of all demographics of society for the goal of achieving sustainable tourism and sustainable community development in Thailand context.
