During adolescence, aesthetics play a significant role and is a key point, as they carry a whole symbology of historical, political and social nature. Based on Paulo Freire's theory of an emancipatory and critical education, in the use of generative themes, in the CTS approach, a didactic proposal was developed for a 3rd grade class. It discussed the aesthetic patterns and preconceptions related to different types of and introduced the content of polymers. With the project, it was realized that with the theme hair it was possible to increase the participation of students in class, bring the chemistry content closer to the students' everyday theme and develop a more critical attitude regarding the implications that Chemistry Technology has with the consumer society that perpetuates institutional racism.
