Analysis of Students' Motivation to Learn Mathematics in Class XII

In learning, motivation is very functioning to encourage students to act, determine the direction of action, go towards the goals to be achieved, and select the actions that must be done. Learning outcomes will be optimal if there is motivation. The more precise the motivation provided, the more successful the learning will be. This study aims to measure and analyze the learning motivation in mathematics among students of Class XII Religion 2 at MA Darul Hikmah Pekanbaru. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the study involved all students from Class XII Religion 2, totalling 18 participants. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and observations. The findings indicate that the student's motivation levels are categorized into three levels: high (22%), moderate (28%), and low (50%). Further analysis revealed that the average motivation level for learning mathematics was 70.67%, which is classified as high. These results emphasize the importance of appropriate motivational strategies in mathematics education to enhance learning effectiveness. The study provides insights for educators to develop interventions that could boost students' motivation in mathematics learning.

This research aims to deal with educational problems, namely truant behavior, the method used is a qualitative method with the type of observation at SMAN 8 Cirebon City school. Observation is a strategy for obtaining information by direct observation. Truant behavior is a deviant act which, if left unchecked, will hamper the success of an education, truancy or absence without permission has become commonplace now. In America, absenteeism is considered a problematic issue. This is because according to several studies, truant behavior is considered a predictor of juvenile delinquency. This truant behavior occurs due to two factors, namely internal factors and external factors, one example of which is the low level of student motivation, and problems in the community or family environment experienced by students. Here the role of the Guidance Teacher is needed to provide solutions and motivation, as well as appropriate direction in providing the approaches and techniques that students need.

Utilization of Android-Based Animation Video Learning Media to Increase Student Motivation for Learning Arabic in Higher Education

Carrying out the duties of an educator in the 21st century, particularly at the higher education level, requires the ability to develop educational skills in conjunction with advanced technological products in the form of digital applications to support learning activities. One such application is the Android-based animation video application, Plotagon Story. This study aims to determine the level of student motivation in learning Arabic using the Plotagon application. The research method used is qualitative, utilizing questionnaires distributed to respondents. The results of this study indicate that Android-based animation videos using the Plotagon Story application can provide motivation and enthusiasm for students in learning Arabic. The implications of these findings are that the Plotagon application can increase student motivation in learning Arabic and enhance their creativity and ability to meet the challenges of mastering technology-based learning media integrated with good language proficiency.

The “The benefits of wordwall games for teaching and learning Mandarin language

This article aims to discuss the application of the benefits of the worldwall game as an innovative learning alternative for Mandarin language subjects. In the digital era, the integration of technology in learning is becoming increasingly important to increase student engagement and learning outcomes. One tool that stands out in the context of learning Mandarin is wordwall, a game-based learning platform that provides various interactive activities. This article aims to explain and evaluate the benefits of using wordwalls in the context of Chinese language teaching and learning. The implementation of online learning is still experiencing problems, especially students' enthusiasm for learning has decreased. To overcome this obstacle, one interesting way to increase student enthusiasm for learning is to use the wordwall game. This wordwall game is an online learning media (E-Learning) which has game, quiz, discussion and survey features. This research examines the wordwall game which has the benefit of being an effective learning medium to increase students' mastery and motivation in learning Mandarin online. Quantitative research with an experimental approach, with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group and an experimental group. Population took 60 students taking MKU Mandarin courses, divided into 2 groups, namely the control group and the experimental group. Data collection for this research used a language mastery test instrument to measure the ability of four aspects of language, namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. To measure the level of student motivation, a questionnaire technique using Google Forms was used. The independent variable is the use of the wordwall game as a learning medium. Mastery of Mandarin and student motivation are the dependent variables. The results of research on learning with wordwall make the learning process easy, fun and can help students understand Mandarin. Apart from that, learning by applying playing techniques using wordwall games is very appropriate for beginner Mandarin learners.

Development of Innovative Forms and Methods in Physical Culture as a Means to Increase Student Motivation for an Active Lifestyle

The article presents an analysis of innovative forms and methods of physical education that would help increase the interest of students in leading an active lifestyle. Its goal is to demonstrate the results of research activities related to the latest and most relevant forms and methods of physical education, as well as to highlight their potential application in the practice of teachers to increase the level of student motivation. The study employed various scientific methods, including analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparison, and generalisation. Physical activity has been shown to have positive effects on the human body, in particular helping to maintain cardiovascular health, musculoskeletal health, weight control, increasing energy and vitality, reducing stress and improving mental health, increasing brain activity and reducing the risk of developing chronic diseases.The analysis of the source material on the topic of the study revealed that increasing motivation for physical education is a relevant but underdeveloped issue. To address this, we constructed a table that outlines innovative forms and methods of physical education and their impact on students’ motivation to lead an active lifestyle. We have identified several innovative forms and methods of physical education that could increase students’ motivation for a healthy lifestyle. These include the use of virtual reality (VR), sensory technologies, game technologies, interactive simulators, multimedia teaching methods, interactive applications for a healthy lifestyle, training with celebrities, online training, training using the wind tunnel, and excursions. The introduction of virtual reality elements, as presented at CES 2019 in Las Vegas, is an interesting development. We believe that empirical research into the detailed study of the practical component of innovative forms and methods of physical education, which would help to increase the motivation of students at different levels to adopt a healthy lifestyle, is promising.

Why are medical students so motivated to learn ultrasound skills? A qualitative study

BackgroundThe introduction of ultrasound (US) courses into medical undergraduate courses is usually met with a particularly high level of student motivation. The reasons for this are unclear. The aim of this study was to investigate the factors that contribute to undergraduate medical students’ motivation to learn US skills. Understanding what motivates students to learn US will inform the efforts of faculty to foster students’ motivation to learn.MethodsWe carried out in-depth semi-structured one-to-one interviews with medical students participating in an optional US course at two Swiss universities. The interview guide consisted of 10 main questions. The content was informed by experts in the field of medical education and US, as well as by a literature review of motivation theories for learning, in particular by self-determination theory (SDT). SDT was used to guide the development of the interview guide and to reflect on the resulting themes in the discussion section. The interview guide was piloted with two medical students. The interviews lasted an average of 45 min and were audio recorded and transcribed. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data.ResultsFourteen undergraduate medical students in their preclinical (year 3) and clinical studies (years 4 and 5) elaborated on a wide range of reasons for their high motivation to learn US. They were motivated for US training because of the positive nimbus of the US modality, emphasising the advantages of visualisation. Students acknowledged the potential professional benefits of learning US and described it as a fun, exciting group activity.ConclusionsThe four themes we found in our analysis can all be related to the three universal needs described in SDT. The strong focus on the visual aspect and the positive nimbus of the modality goes beyond that and reflects the visuo-centric Zeitgeist, which claims the superiority of visual information over other data. Educators should be aware that motivation to learn is affected by the Zeitgeist and ensuing preconceptions, such as the perception of the positive nimbus surrounding a topic. Other key elements that can be implemented to motivate students are just-in-time feedback, enabling group experiences and creating awareness of the clinical relevance of learning content.

DEVELOPING ANIMATED VIDEO FOR WATER CYCLE TOPIC IN FIFTH GRADE OF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

The low level of student motivation in studying the water cycle has resulted in reduced instructional effectiveness. This factor is attributed to the limited utilization of technology by teachers to enhance the appeal of the learning process, with teachers predominantly relying on textbooks as the primary instructional resource. The research aims to evaluate the validity and practicality of animated video media as a supplementary tool for understanding the subject matter and fostering learning motivation, specifically concerning the water cycle topic for 5th- grade elementary school students. Data were obtained through the ADDIE model phases (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The research findings indicated that the material presented in the instructional videos exhibits a remarkably high level of suitability for delivery to students, with an average validation percentage of 100% by subject matter expert and 95,14% by media expert. Additionally, an evaluation of the practicality of this media revealed an average percentage of 89% from student feedback and 100% from teacher assessment. Consequently, it can be inferred that this animated video product is both valid and practical for utilization within the realm of educational instruction.Keywords: learning media, animated video, water cycle.

Promoting mental health by peer education at the University of Debrecen

IntroductionMedical students have been shown to experience mental health problems more frequently compared to their non-medical student peers. This can manifest in pathological levels of stress and depression, and can lead to substance abuse, reduced academic performance, or even suicide.ObjectivesA credit course on professional socialization is offered for medical students at the University of Debrecen in the form of peer education. Our goal was to evaluate experiences of this course delivered in the past 5 academic years.Methods After reviewing the relevant literature, the structure of a focus group interview was developed. The focus group consisted of 8 participants and was moderated by the course supervisor with the help of an assistant moderator. The group summarized the number of students completing the course, and narratives of teaching experiences between 2018/19 and 2022/23. They also revised relevant versions of the tutors’ handbook containing the topics and methodology of the course. The duration of the interview was 90 minutes, and it was tape recorded by the assistant moderator, who also made notes in case the tape is inaudible.Results Between 2018/19 and 2022/23 61 students finished the course with the help of 23 tutors. The course is offered for students of general medicine, dentistry and pharmacy to improve their positive professional attitudes and social skills through group work and practical exercises. The medical curriculum includes mandatory courses with practical opportunities for developing professional and social skills, but due to the limited number of contact hours and the varying levels of student interest and motivation, these skills are difficult to master. The credit course was developed using the concept of Bálint groups, offering peer-supervised opportunities for motivated students above year 2 to practice their professional skills in controlled conditions while also receiving feedback from their peer group leaders. The course complements the traditional medical curriculum and sensitizes students in a protected environment in which they can observe their own communication more consciously and recognize unfavourable behaviour patterns. Developing the ability to work in a team, learning to listen, and practicing assertiveness during study years can also reduce performance-related stress and future medical errors along with increasing job satisfaction and patient adherence.ConclusionsBased on the narrative summary of the focus group, both the experiences of participating students and peer teachers are positive, the handbook is a useful tool. The structured focus group provides a suitable method to evaluate the credit course which should be held once every academic year to evaluate the implemented course and explore options to improve future courses.Disclosure of InterestNone Declared

Web augmentation has gained prominence as a promising approach to elevate the user experience by tailoring web content to meet diverse user needs and preferences. It offers the potential to enhance accessibility and personalization, making web experiences more engaging and inclusive. This research study examines the use of web augmentation in the context of web engineering education and its influence on student motivation. The study investigates how the integration of web augmentation techniques motivates students and enhances their learning experience. A questionnaire was administered to gather data on student perceptions and motivation levels following their exposure to web augmentation in the web engineering subject. The findings reveal that the implementation of web augmentation in the web engineering subject has positively motivated students. Students express a strong preference for web augmentation as a learning tool, citing increased engagement and a more interactive learning environment. The findings support the adoption of web augmentation techniques as a valuable pedagogical tool, enhancing the learning experience and fostering student engagement. This study contributes to the field by addressing the gap in related work that focuses on the use of web augmentation specifically in educational settings.

MEDIA IMPLEMENTATION SPIN GAME SCIENCE SMART (SGSS) ON THE MATERIAL OF VIBRATION ON THE LEVEL OF STUDENT MOTIVATION AND LEARNING OUTCOMES IN THE PANDEMIC ERA

The history of the world of education began to occur in 2020 when learning activities were carried out online. This situation has a major impact on the implementation of learning, especially in the use of learning media. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of student learning motivation when learning online using SGSS media and without SGSS media in the pandemic era and to find out the differences in student learning outcomes using SGSS media and without SGSS media in online learning. Data collection techniques using test techniques, interviews, documentation and questionnaires. Data were analyzed by descriptive analysis and independent sample t test. The results average value motivation experimental class was 83.64 in the very good category while the control class was 79.53 in the good category and the results of the independent sample t test showed a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.457 or greater from 0.05 so that it can be concluded that student learning outcomes between using SGGS media and without SGSS media don’t provide a significant difference. The use of SGSS media needs to be followed up both online and offline.

Exploring the experiences of dentistry students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences of academic motivation: a content analysis study

BackgroundStudents’ academic motivation is crucial to their academic performance, success, and future career performance. Understanding the experiences of students regarding academic motivation can help address this issue. This qualitative study aimed to explore the experiences of dentistry students of Tabriz University of Medical Sciences regarding academic motivation.MethodsThis qualitative content analysis study collected data through semi-structured individual interviews with open-ended questions. The collected data were then organized into codes, subcategories, categories, and themes. Extensive interviews, meetings, and active engagement with the participants were conducted to ensure the strength of the data collected.ResultsThe results of this study yielded 20 subclasses and 11 classes. These codes, categories, and sub-categories were summarized into seven themes: self-efficacy, outcome expectations, outcome expectancies, emotional coping, self-regulation, situational perception, and environment.ConclusionThis study showed that various concepts, from personal processes to environmental and social processes, play a role in students’ academic motivation. This study’s findings can contribute to developing more effective interventions to improve the motivation level of dentistry students.

Music Learning Motivation of College Students Majoring in Early Childhood Education: An Empirical Study from China

This study aims to explore the music learning motivation levels of Chinese college students majoring in early childhood education, and analyze the differential effects of demographic variables such as gender, age, grade, and hometown background. The research design used descriptive statistics and Mann-Whitney U test to conduct statistical analysis on the collected questionnaire data. The results showed that age and hometown background have a significant impact on students' learning motivation. Students aged 17 to 19 scored higher on internal learning motivation than students aged 20 to 22; students from rural areas scored higher than urban students on both motivations. Although the effects of gender and grade exist, they are not significant. These results suggest that the specific needs of diverse student groups should be taken into account in music education practice. To improve students' music learning motivation, it is recommended that educators should design more personalized and culturally relevant courses, while using diverse teaching evaluation methods to stimulate students' intrinsic interest and identity.

Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Quizizz Terhadap Motivasi Belajar Siswa

This research was carried out at Veteran 1 Sukoharjo Vocational School with the aim of increasing the learning motivation of class X Broadcasting students through the use of Quizizz as a learning medium. The method applied was a descriptive quantitative approach involving 42 students as samples. Data collection was carried out using a Likert scale questionnaire. The main objective of this research is to evaluate the impact of using Quizizz on the level of student learning motivation in the class. It is hoped that the research results can provide a deeper understanding of the extent to which Quizizz can influence and increase student learning motivation in the context of class X Broadcasting learning at the vocational school. The use of Quizizz learning media significantly increases students' learning motivation. As much as 46.6% of the variation in learning motivation can be explained by the use of Quizizz. The statistical test results show a significant effect with a calculated t value of 5.905 and a significance of 0.000. By increasing interest in the material, strengthening student understanding, and strengthening self-confidence, Quizizz plays a role in encouraging student learning motivation. The recommendation given is that teachers consider integrating Quizizz into classroom learning to support increased motivation and overall student learning outcomes.

Student Motivation In Class VII Educational Learning At Smp Negeri 10 Pekanbaru

This research aims to determine the level of student motivation in Physical Education Class VII learning at State Junior High School 10 Pekanbaru. This research is quantitative research, the method used is a descriptive method with a survey type. The population in this study was class VII students at Pekanbaru 10 State Middle School, totaling 279 students. The sampling technique uses total sampling technique. The instrument used in this research used a Likert scale or questionnaire method which was distributed to respondents. Based on research results, Student Motivation in Class VII Physical Education Learning is classified as Very High, this can be seen in the percentage results of 83% which are in the assessment range of 81%-100% with Very High criteria .

Do nursing students' attitudes to clinical practice training affect the levels of vocational motivation?

It is extremely important for nursing students to be professionally motivated to train qualified future professional nurses. Students' vocational motivation is affected by their experiences in clinical and academic learning environments. The aim of this study was to investigate the correlation between the vocational motivation levels of nursing students and their attitudes toward clinical practice. 292 nursing students participated in the cross-sectional, descriptive study. The Student Information Form, Nursing Students' Attitudes Towards Clinical Practices Scale, Motivation Sources and Problems Scale (MSPS) were used to gather the data. The average score for students' attitudes toward clinical practice was 107.08±18.13, while the total score for MSPS stood at 3.80±0.63. A positive correlation was identified between the attitude toward clinical practice and vocational motivation levels (r = 0.367; p < 0.001). There were positive correlations between the intrinsic motivation (r = 0.572; p < 0.001) and extrinsic motivation (r = 0.58; p < 0.001), and negative correlations were observed between the negative motivation (r=-0.324; p < 0.001) and the attitude toward clinical practice scale. There were positive correlations between belief and expectation (r = 0.492; p < 0.001) and positive approach (r = 0.532; p < 0.001) with the MSPS. In the multiple regression analysis, intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, satisfaction with studying nursing, and participation in vocational courses were determined as effective predictors of attitudes towards clinical practice and explained 60.4% of the variance. The study concluded that nursing students' attitudes toward clinical practices affect vocational motivation. Clinical learning environments should be arranged in a way to increase the motivation level of students towards professional learning.

Increasing the motivation of madrasah Aliyah students to learn cross-interest English subject by applying the game “relay race”

Cross-interest subjects are programs and policies from the government that aim to provide opportunities for students to choose and study subjects that are not in the specialization program so that they will add insight, experience, and knowledge that they have later. In theory, students should have a high motivation or enthusiasm for learning to study the cross-interest subjects they have chosen. However, the facts in the classroom show the opposite. This study aims to increase student learning motivation in English Cross Interest subjects in class XI MIPA Madrasah Aliyah Negeri Kota Batu through the application of a "relay race" or relay game. This research is a class action research with the research subject of XI MIPA 2 class with 36 students. The research was conducted with two cycles on simple past-tense material. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation through daily notes filled by both the teacher and students, and questionnaires filled by students to determine the level of student learning motivation. The results showed increased student learning motivation in cross-interest English subjects, with an average percentage in the first cycle of 81% and increased by 1% to 82% in the second cycle. Thus, it can be concluded that applying the "relay race" game can increase students' learning motivation while still paying attention to the teacher’s pedagogical skills during the learning process.

Through a preliminary study on students' motivation levels toward the Simalungun local content subject, it was found that the motivation level of students towards the Local Content Subject (Simalungun Language) was relatively low. The aim of this research is to determine the influence of icebreaking on students' motivation levels in the local content subject (Simalungun Language) at UPTD SDN 122401 in the city of Pematangsiantar. This research is quantitative in nature, and the method employed is an experimental method with the research design of "one group pretest posttest design." The population in this study consists of all fourth-grade students in UPTD SDN 122401 Pematang Siantar, totaling 33 students. Data collection techniques include questionnaires and observations. The research procedure involves preparation, pre-test, treatment, post-test, data analysis, and interpretation of results. Based on the homogeneity test, the obtained significance value (Sig.) Based on Mean is 0.08 &gt; 0.05, concluding that the pretest and posttest data variances are homogeneous. The t-test result shows a significance value of p (sig(2-tailed) = 0.001, as p &lt; 0.05, rejecting Ho or accepting Ha.
