ASSESSING THE DYNAMICS OF CHANGES IN ROAD SAFETY INDICATORS IN UKRAINE

Purpose. A study of road traffic in Ukraine shows that despite several legislative and regulatory documents aimed at improving road safety, the total number of road traffic accidents (RTAs) is increasing from 2015 to 2021. According to statistical data, each road traffic accident involves more than one injured person on average. A significant reduction in the accident rate can be achieved by developing a national action programme to improve road safety, which should be based on a systematic analysis of the nature and causes of road accidents. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to conduct a comprehensive study of the level of road safety in Ukraine based on a systematic approach to assessing road accident data. Methodology. In the course of the research, the methods of regression analysis were used to study the absolute, specific and relative accident rates and the causes of accidents. All calculations were performed using Excel software. Results. This paper studies the international regulatory framework and national legislative documents aimed at improving traffic safety. An analysis of changes in absolute, specific and relative accident rates in 22 regions of the country is carried out. The general trends in accident rates in Ukraine from 2015 to 2021 are identified. The total number of road accidents in Ukraine, with some fluctuations in some years, has been increasing from 2015 to 2021. However, the percentage of road accidents with victims in the total number of accidents is decreasing. The social risk indicator in 2021 decreased by 15.86% compared to 2015. However, this figure remains almost twice as high as in top countries, where even those who died within 30 days of being injured in a road accident are taken into account. The scientific novelty. Based on the methods of mathematical statistics and regression analysis, the methods of estimating absolute, specific and relative accident rates, which take into account the number of victims, injured and killed in road accidents in the study of different regions of Ukraine, have been further developed. The practical significance. The obtained regression dependencies of accident rates can be used to formulate the provisions of an effective national road safety system aimed at significantly reducing the number of people killed and injured in road accidents, as well as reducing the economic losses caused by them.

Differential use of various types of pessaries in isthmic-cervical insufficiency for prevention of preterm birth: A randomized prospective trial

Background. Obstetric pessary comprises one of the methods for treatment of isthmic-cervical insufficiency. Despite the variety of pessaries produced, the common purpose of their use consists in preventing premature birth. Various types of pessaries correct different cervical parameters, which is not always taken into account by doctors when choosing a pessary and reduces their potential effectiveness. Objective. To substantiate a differentiated approach to the selection of pessary type for correcting isthmic-cervical insufficiency and preventing preterm birth based on the evaluation of cervical parameters. Methods. A randomized prospective study enrolled 90 pregnant women diagnosed with isthmic-cervical insufficiency (ICD-10 code — О.34.3) at 19–24 weeks of gestation. Of these, 41 women underwent correction of isthmic-cervical insufficiency with an obstetric unloading pessary and 49 women — with a perforated cervical pessary. Transvaginal ultrasound cervicometry evaluated the parameters of the cervix before correcting isthmic-cervical insufficiency and in dynamics (once every 4 weeks) after inserting various types of pessaries. Statistical data processing was carried out using Statistica 10.0 (StatSoft, Tulsa, USA) and MedCalc 10.2.0.0 (MedCalc, Mariakerke, Belgium). The differences were considered to be statistically significant at p <0.05. Results. Inserting an obstetric unloading pessary in isthmic-cervical insufficiency decreased the uterocervical angle from 115 (110; 130)° to 100 (90; 115)° (p = 0.021). A decrease in the uterocervical angle was observed during 16-week-use of obstetric unloading pessary. After insertion of perforated cervical pessaries, the length of the closed part of the cervical region increased from 23 (21; 24) mm to 25 (21; 27) mm (p = 0.009) for a period of 4 weeks with a subsequent decrease in this parameter. The effectiveness of both types of pessaries in preventing preterm birth was found to be identical. Urgent delivery occurred in 61% of cases of using an obstetric unloading pessary and in 64.7% of cases of using a perforated cervical pessary (p = 0.993). The gestational age at preterm birth against the background of the use of obstetric unloading pessaries and perforated cervical pessaries was found comparable and amounted to 247 (230; 253) days and 245 (225; 254) days, respectively (p = 0.870). Conclusion. A differentiated approach to selecting a type of pessary for the prevention of premature birth in isthmic-cervical insufficiency is determined by the initial ultrasound parameters of the cervix. Thus, an increase in the uterocervical angle serves as an indication for an obstetric unloading pessary, while a shortened part of the cervical region without an increase in the utero-cervical angle determines the use of a perforated cervical pessary. Additional dynamic ultrasound control after inserting pessaries of any type allows such complications as pessary displacement, cervical edema, amniotic fluid sludge, prolapse of fetal membranes in the vagina, and increased myometrial tone to be timely diagnosed and corrected, thereby increasing the effectiveness of using pessaries.

Оценка эффективности и безопасности применения медицинского изделия «МАВИТ» у пациентов с хроническим простатитом и синдромом хронической тазовой боли

Abstract. Recent studies have shown that chronic prostatitis is one of the most common clinically and socially significant diseases. With chronic prostatitis, mental health suffers no less than with other severe somatic diseases, which sharply reduces the quality of life of men. This was a serious incentive for this study. In outpatient conditions, 50 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of N41 were examined. 1 Chronic prostatitis; R10.2 Pelvic and perineal pain. At the stage of inclusion in the study and treatment, the patient is examined: 1) Study of anamnesis. (NIH-CPS; IPSS; IIEF-5; PHQ-9; GAD-7; EQ–5D–3L) 2) Physical examination (determination of the somatic status of the study subjects) 3) Laboratory examinations were carried out in the laboratories of the clinical bases of the Consultative and Diagnostic Center No2 of the Moscow Health Department, Moscow, 8 Igralnaya Street; Clinical base Central Medical Clinic CMD, Moscow, Perovo metro station, Novogireevskaya st., 3A; Clinical base Clinic «New Medicine», Moscow region, Orekhovo-Zuevo, Lenin st., 44. (urine culture for microflora or urine assessment with a test strip once - before the start of therapy, four-cup test, PSA, CRP, STI screening) 4). Specialized diagnostic tests (ultrasound of the bladder with determination of the volume of residual urine, uroflowmetry, TRUS of the prostate with Doppler mapping). GE LOGIQ V2 ultrasound machine with convex and rectal probe. The obtained research data and interpretation of statistical data allow us to conclude that it is possible to use the MAVIT device according to GIKS.941549.102 TU, manufactured by Yelatma Instrument Plant JSC, according to the selected methods, 7 procedures every 2 months in urological patients with chronic prostatitis and the presence of chronic pelvic pain syndrome in order to relieve pain symptoms, lower urinary tract symptoms. The study also found positive effects on men’s sexual function and a reduction in anxiety disorders. All these positive outcomes in relation to the treatment of the main group of patients allow us to conclude that the MAVIT device may be widely used in the work of a practitioner both on an outpatient basis and in a day hospital.

О роли органов прокуратуры по укреплению законности в области государственного оборонного заказа и необходимости совершенствования законодательства

The work is devoted to a topic that is relevant today – compliance with legislation in the field of the state defense order (hereinafter referred to as the State Defense Order), as well as issues of improving legislation in order to optimize the work of enterprises and organizations participating in the State Defense Order, respecting their rights and protecting their interests. The author has studied the issues of activity, formation and development of the functions of regulatory bodies in this area in the historical context of modern Russia. Based on the results of the analysis of statistical data, information from judicial practice, and the opinions of scientists, it was concluded that the prosecutor’s office plays an invariably important role in ensuring the rule of law in the implementation of the state defense order. The study made it possible to formulate conclusions about the possibility of changing legislation regarding the procedure for considering cases of administrative offenses related to the state defense order, which would ensure the participation of the prosecutor in their consideration and have a positive impact on legal relations in the field of state defense orders.

Postdischarge Mortality in a Cohort Hospitalized With Anorexia Nervosa.

To characterize mortality after hospital discharge in cohorts with and without anorexia nervosa (AN). We obtained data for all hospitalizations for psychiatric reasons in Canada (except Quebec) between April 1, 2006, and March 31, 2021 (n = 1.3 million admissions). Cases of AN were identified using ICD-10 (F50.0 and F50.1) codes. First admissions during this interval for AN and other psychiatric conditions were linked to vital statistics data. Mortality was characterized through cross-tabulation, Cox proportional hazards models, and competing cause regression. After adjustment for age and sex, there was no significant difference in mortality between AN and those with other psychiatric conditions (HR = 1.04; p = 0.644). Among AN admissions, 25% (95% CI 18.6-31.4) of deaths were attributed to psychiatric conditions (ICD-F codes), with 88% of these (comprising 22% of all deaths in the AN group) having AN itself identified as the underlying cause of death. In contrast, only 8% of deaths among non-AN admissions were attributed to a mental disorder. Prevention of premature mortality in the general psychiatric population emphasizes modification of metabolic (e.g., hyperlipidemia) and lifestyle-related (e.g., sedentary behavior) risk factors. However, as AN itself makes a major contribution to mortality, specialized preventive strategies may be required.

THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EMPLOYEE PERFORMANCE IS REVIEWED FROM ORGANIZATIONAL COMPETENCY AND COMMITMENT THROUGH JOB SATISFACTION AS AN INTERVENING VARIABLE AT THE CENTRAL STATISTICAL AGENCY FOR THE WEST SUMATRA REGION

<span lang="EN-US">The lack of optimal competency, organizational commitment and performance of human resources (HR) as well as excellent service that has not yet been fully realized for users of statistical data at the West Sumatra Regional Central Statistics Agency, encourages researchers to conduct further research on "Effectiveness of Employee Performance in View of Competence And Organizational Commitment Through Job Satisfaction as an Intervening Variable at the West Sumatra Regional Central Statistics Agency." The aim of this research is to analyze the influence of competence and organizational commitment on performance through job satisfaction as an intervening variable for employees of the West Sumatra Regional Central Statistics Agency. The data in this study was collected by distributing questionnaires selected using the proportional random sampling method and then the data was tested using SEM PLS. The results of data processing from 7 hypotheses, the direct and indirect effects obtained are: 1) competence has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, 2) organizational commitment has a positive and significant effect on employee job satisfaction, 3) competence has a positive and insignificant effect on employee job satisfaction. employee performance, 4) organizational commitment has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, 5) job satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on employee performance, 6) job satisfaction is able to mediate competence on employee performance, and 7) job satisfaction is able to mediate organizational commitment on employee performance.</span>

Сучасні глобальні проблеми етнонаціональної політики України: на прикладі правового регулювання статусу національних меншин

The article is devoted to the analysis of the problems of ethno-national policy in modern conditions of the development of statehood and points to the prospects of improving the legislation in the context of ensuring the proper legal status of national minorities. The article examines the main problems in the field of ethno-national policy of Ukraine and legal regulation of the status of national minorities. The author emphasizes the absence of a single strategy for the development of ethno-national relations, which leads to fragmented legislation. The implementation of a comprehensive normative act could determine the direction of the development of statehood and form the ideological basis for future normative acts regarding the status of national minorities, indigenous peoples, and other ethnic groups. It is also emphasized that the issues of national minorities were often ignored in national law, and the legislative framework regarding indigenous peoples and the protection of the status of national minorities was formed mainly as a reaction to external circumstances, such as the occupation of the Crimean peninsula. Gaps in legislation make it difficult to ensure the rights of national minorities, in particular, due to the lack of up-to-date statistical data, since the all-Ukrainian population census was conducted only once in 2001. The author draws attention to the low level of tolerance in Ukrainian society, which is demonstrated by a survey conducted in 2022–2024. Respondents often do not consider their actions illegal or discriminatory towards Roma, but do not wish to have themin their environment. This indicates a lack of education regarding national characteristics as a factor of discrimination and a lack of attention on the part of the state to issues of language moderation and protection of the rights of national minorities. The lack of an effective policy of integration of national minorities is another significant problem. The legislator often considers national minorities as a group of citizens of a different ethnic origin living in Ukraine traditionally, which is a wrong approach. In order to improve ethno-national politics, it is necessary to solve problems in related areas, such as education, political rights, participation in local selfgovernment and the fight against hate speech.

ANALYSIS OF SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE VOLOGDA REGION

The increase in sanctions pressure had a significant impact on the Vologda Region, which is one of the most economically affected regions of the Northwestern Federal District, due to its geographical location and significant orientation of the economy to the markets of unfriendly countries. The purpose of the study is to analyze the socio-economic development of the Vologda Region based on statistical data. It was revealed that the rate of socio-economic development of the Vologda Region is below the average values of the Northwestern Federal District, the main problem hindering the socio-economic development of the region is the low rate of diversification of the economy, lack of investment in innovation, lack of qualified personnel.

Про сутність поняття “внутрішньо переміщена особа”

The article describes the essence of the concept of “internally displaced person”. Theoretical and legal approaches to the content of the concept of “internally displaced persons” have been studied. It was established that forced migration plays an important role in the modern worldmigration process of the population of Ukraine. It is argued that for the first time the term “internally displaced person” was used in jurisprudence in the last decade of the 20th century, when the need for an international response to the rather important problem of protecting the rights of displaced persons definitely arose. Statistical data on the number of internally displaced persons in Ukraine are indicated. It is noted that precisely as a result of military aggression by the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, the problem of forced migration and its solution is one of the main ones for the state and society. It is proven that an internally displaced person is a citizen of Ukraine, a foreigner or a stateless person who is in the territory of Ukraine on legal grounds and has the right to permanent residence in Ukraine, who was forced to leave or leave his place of residence as a result or in order to avoid negative consequences. It is indicated that internally displaced persons are under the legal protection of their country in accordance with international human rights legislation. The article indicates the main reasons for forced migration of the population, which encourage citizens to move within the borders of their country. These include, first of all, military conflict, occupation or annexation of territory, cruel treatment, manifestations of violence, genocide of the population, violation of human rights and freedoms, as well as environmental, social, economic, man-made and other causes. It was emphasized that internally displaced persons need to adjust to a new place of residence, which should become safer for them. It has been studied that the protection of internally displaced persons implies an important obligation for the state to create legal, social and economic conditions for the realization of their rights and freedoms, under which it is possible to protect the rights of individuals, as well as the activities of state organizations for the protection of human rights. The article offers the author’s definition of the essence of the concept of “internally displaced person” in Ukraine.

Fluid inclusions and H–O isotopes of the super-large Nanyangtian tungsten deposit in southeastern Yunnan, southwestern China

The Nanyangtian deposit is a super-large reduced skarn tungsten deposit located in the Laojunshan WSn polymetallic ore province in southeastern Yunnan (SW China). The deposit is represented by three flat-lying mineralized zones formed vertically by the replacement of limestone or minor calcareous schist. The tungsten orebodies are mainly stratiform, lenticular, and vein types, hosted in the Paleoproterozoic Nanyangtian Formation. Three mineral formation stages have been identified based on the mineral assemblages and vein crosscutting relationships (pre-, syn-, and post-ore). The Nanyangtian is a calcic skarn deposit, dominated by a grossular-diopside-tremolite-actinolite assemblage. Scheelite, pyrrhotite, pyrite, and chalcopyrite are the main ore minerals. Detailed petrographic observations show three types of fluid inclusions (FIs) in various hydrothermal minerals: liquid-rich two-phase (type-I), gas-rich two-phase (type-II), daughter mineral-bearing three-phase (type-III). Their homogenization temperatures (193–298 °C) and salinities (1.2–9.3 wt% NaCl eq.) indicate that the Nanyangtian ore-forming fluids were of medium to low temperature and low salinity compared to the statistical data from representative skarn tungsten deposits in South China. Laser Raman microprobe analysis of the FIs shows that the inclusions are dominated by H2O with minor CH4 and N2. The δD values (relative to Vienna-Standard Mean Ocean Water, VSMOW) of fluid inclusions and calculated δ18Owater values (relative to VSMOW) of the fluids in equilibrium with hydrothermal minerals are −105 to −69 ‰ and − 1.9 to 7.6 ‰, respectively. These oxygen–hydrogen isotopic compositions indicate that the ore-forming fluids were magmatic-derived, which may have metasomatized the Nanyangtian Formation carbonaceous calcareous rocks along interlayer structures to form the prograde skarn minerals. Then the fluids mixed with meteoric water migrated along faults to form the retrograde skarn and tungsten ore. Mixing of magmatic fluid with meteoric water is likely the main factor for the ore precipitation at Nanyangtian.

Comprehensive assessment of the earth’s surface state disturbed by mining and ways to improve the situation: case study of Kryvyi Rih Iron-ore Basin, Ukraine

IntroductionComplex mineral mining leads to critical earth’s surface disturbance and environmental pollution from industrial waste. This research aims to comprehensively study, assess and show the current scale of the earth’s surface disturbances in the largest mining region of Ukraine – the Kryvyi Rih. Iron-ore Basin and suggests ways to improve the situation based on backfill technologies for the earth’s surface rehabilitation and industrial waste utilization.MethodsTo identify the forms of surface disturbance, their parameters, and spatial location, satellite images of the region, government statistical data, and a geographic information system software suite were studied. An analysis of the effectiveness of existing reclamation measures for technogenic voids in the region was carried out, and a new concept of surface restoration was proposed using beneficiation tailings, which are difficult to utilize in the region.ResultsIt has been determined that the contribution of the Kryvyi Rih Iron-ore Basin to waste generation is 92.08% of the total volume of waste accumulations in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast and 65.5% in Ukraine as a whole, amounting to 10.7 billion tons. It is determined that 65.25% of the total disturbed land area is industrial waste, 34.76% – quarry cavities and mine failure zones, occupying 49% of the Kryvyi Rih city area. An analysis of waste accumulation density in allotted areas shows that per 1 m2 of land area, on average, 183.5 tons of dump waste rocks and 73.5 tons of beneficiation tailings are placed. Disposal of beneficiation tailings is recognized as a priority, because their utilization is slower, occupy the largest area, creating a risk of dams breaching and intense dusting from tailings dams surface, threatening the environment and public health. For the first time in Ukraine, a concept for the earth’s surface rehabilitation for various industrial purposes has been developed based on paste backfill technologies.DiscussionPaste backfill technology implementation is prioritized in the central and northern parts of the city, which can dispose of at least 65–70 million tons of waste in cavities and reclaim about 200 ha of land. The research results are valuable for the development of strategies or programs to overcome the technogenic-ecological crisis in the city. The rehabilitated earth’s surface can be usefully involved in various infrastructure projects for the development of the industrial and economic potential of an industrial city such as Kryvyi Rih.

Clinical and pathogenetic significance of the phenomenon of functional heterogeneity of oxygen-dependent functions of neutrophils in ankylosing spondylitis

Neutrophils are able to exert a variety of effects on other cells of the immune system, which indicates their heterogeneity. In various rheumatic diseases, neutrophils are involved in the immunopathological process. The study of the phenomenon of functional heterogeneity of neutrophils associated with the pathogenesis of rheumatic diseases is a promising area of research in immunology and rheumatology. The purpose of the research: study of factors influencing oxygen-dependent neutrophil functions in ankylosing spondylitis (AS). A total of 82 patients with AS were examined. The functional activity of neutrophils was assessed according to the data of determining the indicators of oxygen-dependent functions by the chemiluminescence method. Functional neutrophil reserve (FNR) was assessed by activation coefficients (the ratio of chemiluminescence induced by suspension of heat-killed staphylococcus cells to spontaneous value). Statistical data processing was carried out using Statistica 10.0 program. An increase in oxygen-dependent neutrophil functions in AS was accompanied by an increase in disease activity. The greatest influence on the increase in the functional activity of cells was exerted by the age of patients, the stage of the disease and the level of circulating immune complexes. The process of stabilizing the metabolic activity of neutrophils was significantly influenced by the age of patients, ESR, ã-globulins, total cholesterol, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Among the laboratory parameters, the majority of AS patients with moderate and high FNR had elevated levels of ESR, CRP, and IgM; there was a tendency to increase IgA in AS patients with high FNR. Statistical analyses showed an association between FNR and disease activity; there was no statistically significant dependence of FNR on the stage, course, and form of AS. The study of the metabolic activity of neutrophils during dynamic observation revealed a group of patients with stabilization of FNR parameters against the background of therapy with the achievement of a normal level of oxygen-dependent metabolism. Thus, in ankylosing spondylitis, the functional heterogeneity of neutrophils associated with disease activity was established according to the determination of oxygen-dependent metabolism.

Spatialization and Analysis of China’s GDP Based on NPP/VIIRS Data from 2013 to 2023

The quality of nighttime light (NTL) data is an important factor affecting the estimation of gross domestic product (GDP), but most studies do not use the latest NPP/VIIRS V2 annual composite product, and there is a lack of China’s GDP estimation products in recent years. To address this problem, this paper studies the NPP/VIIRS remote sensing estimation method for the GDP in mainland China from 2013 to 2023. First, the remote sensing data are preprocessed, and the noise masking method is used to remove outliers. The total amount of NTL, average NTL value, and comprehensive NTL index data are extracted. Combined with the GDP data from the Statistical Yearbook, a fitting model of the GDP and NTL index is constructed. The differences between different GDP estimation models are compared and analyzed, and the optimal model is selected as the estimation model. In addition, through the optimal fitting model, GDP spatial estimation products from 2013 to 2023 are produced. Moreover, the spatiotemporal variation characteristics of the GDP in mainland China are analyzed, with a focus on the spatiotemporal variation of GDP decline regions and the changes in the GDP rankings of provinces and cities. The main conclusions include the following: (1) In the time regression analysis, the linear model MNL has a strong correlation with the GDP, with an R2 of 0.972. This model is selected as the optimal fitting model to calculate the spatial data of the GDP. (2) The spatial distribution of the GDP in mainland China is high in the east and low in the west, and it shows a characteristic of extending from the provincial capital to the surrounding cities. The connectivity between adjacent high-GDP areas continues to increase. (3) From 2013 to 2023, the GDP in most parts of China showed an upward trend, with 98.56% of pixels growing and only 0.99% of pixels declining. The declining pixels are mainly distributed in heavy industrial cities supported by fossil fuel resources, such as Ordos, Daqing, Aksu, etc. (4) Compared with statistical data, the overall difference of the GDP estimated by NTL data is not large, and the relative error is between 0.04% and 1.95%. From the perspective of the GDP ranking of each province, the ranking of most provinces is not much different, fluctuating between ±2. A small number of provinces have large ranking differences due to reasons such as dominant industries and power supply. By spatializing the GDP data of mainland China in the past 11 years, the spatiotemporal changes of the GDP within mainland China were analyzed. The research results can provide support for government economic decisions such as urban development.

Biomass Resources from Vineyard Residues for the Production of Densified Solid Biofuels in the Republic of Moldova

This paper explores the utilization of biomass resources derived from vineyard residues for producing densified solid biofuels in the Republic of Moldova, with the aim of quantitatively and qualitatively evaluating the residue from vine pruning, focusing on the feasibility of its use as raw material for the production of briquettes and pellets. The methodology includes the analysis of statistical data, as well as experimental investigations conducted at the Scientific Laboratory of Solid Biofuels of the Technical University of Moldova. Waste biomass samples were collected from various vineyards in the different districts of all three regions of the country, focusing on regions with significant plantations. Both quantitative and qualitative aspects of the biomass were assessed, considering the moisture content, calorific value, and ash content. It was found that about 1013 kg/ha of waste biomass is generated from the pruning of technical grape varieties with a net calorific value of 15.6 MJ/kg at a moisture content of 10 wt.% and about 1044 kg/ha with a calorific value of 16.4 MJ/kg from the table ones; both with an average ash content of 3 wt.%. The results indicated that vineyard pruning residues in the Republic of Moldova could provide a substantial biomass source, with an estimated total energy potential of approximately 370 TJ/y (80% located in the Southern region); they also highlighted the need for technological advancements and quality assurance procedures through which to ensure the efficiency and sustainability of biofuel production. The conclusions emphasize the numerous benefits of utilizing viticultural residue, both economically and ecologically, contributing to the sustainable development of the viticulture industry in the Republic of Moldova, as well as environmental protection.

Роль поведения потерпевшего в правонарушениях, совершенных на бытовой почве

The article is devoted to the study of the victim's behavior in family and domestic conflicts, both in the commission of administrative offenses and criminal acts committed on domestic grounds. The scientific work analyzes theoretical approaches to the concept of "domestic crime". The author examines the characteristic features of this category of crimes. The reasons for the growth of domestic crimes and the decrease in their detection rate are highlighted, among which special attention is paid to the role and behavior of the victim. The forms of culpable behavior of the victim are subjected to a separate analysis. The article pays considerable attention to the study of statistical data and legal practice in criminal and administrative cases. Special attention is paid to the study of the impact of the victim's behavior on the high latency of domestic crimes. Based on the information received, the author makes recommendations for the prevention of this category of crimes.

Based on the analysis of open statistical data, the authors conclude that the volume of industrial and household waste is growing rapidly, most of which is not recycled. The growing environmental impact of the construction industry is leading to the development of green standards for highway design and construction at the state level. The paper considers the peculiarities of the construction sector in the context of sustainable road development. One of the tools for such development is the application of information models that ensure energy efficiency and environmental friendliness of the project. The paper characterises the ecologically-oriented directions of development of design, construction and operation of automobile roads. The authors present One Click LCA software as an example. It allows to assess the environmental impact of the constructed object - a road - throughout the entire life cycle.

Remote control of the technical condition of metro trains using seismological tools

As urban road congestion increases and people shift to using the subway, the safety of under-ground transportation becomes a priority. Therefore, it is necessary to establish a monitoring sys-tem for subway trains to detect malfunctions that occur during operation. The article proposes an engineering seismology method for remote monitoring of the technical condition of metro trains based on the analysis of micro seismic vibrations. This method allows remote control of the dynamic parameters of each train and their deviations from the norm. The authors demonstrate how a seismic recorder placed in a building adjacent to a metro station can be used to monitor changes in the amplitude-frequency spectrum of vibro seismic recordings. It is used to determine the arrival and departure times of trains, and it is shown that observations are best made for departures due to their more pronounced signal amplitude. The recorded signal of a metro train should fall within a certain frequency range, which is determined based on its average values, and any deviation of the observed signal spectrum from this norm indicates changes in the train's condition. The proposed approach not only helps improve passenger safety, but also reduces the risk of emergencies associated with technical malfunctions of rolling stock. In the future, it is possible to develop software equipped with a database of statistical data, which will allow even more efficient control of metro operations and prompt response to any deviations, thus ensuring a high level of safety and comfort for passengers.

Age-Friendly Urban Design for Older Pedestrian Road Safety: A Street Segment Level Analysis in Madrid

Walking benefits older pedestrians but exposes them to traffic crashes. With an aging population, designing age-friendly cities is crucial, yet research on older pedestrian safety at a micro-level is limited. This study aims to reduce older pedestrian–vehicle collisions and create more livable environments through infrastructure policies derived from statistical data analysis. Special attention is focused on collecting a holistic set of infrastructure variables to reflect most of the street built environment elements, which helps policymakers implement short-term safety measures. Using Bayesian Poisson regression, this study analyzes factors contributing to the occurrence of crashes involving older and non-older pedestrians on road segments in Madrid, Spain. The results indicate that different factors affect the occurrence of crashes for all pedestrians versus older pedestrians specifically. Traffic crashes involving all pedestrians are affected by leisure points of interest, bus stops, and crosswalk density. Older pedestrian traffic crashes are influenced by population density, the presence of trees and trash containers, and contour complexity. Proposed measures include relocating trees and trash containers, modifying bus stops, and adding crosswalks and traffic lights. This paper also shows that these countermeasures, aimed at creating age-friendly streets for older pedestrians, are not expected to worsen the road safety of other pedestrians.

Prevalence of overweight and obesity, and associations with socio-demographic and etiological factors

Background: Adolescent obesity and overweight (OW) prevalence are rising quickly. The present study was done to assess the prevalence of OW and obesity and its association with demographic and etiological factors. Methods: An observational study including 386 adolescents aged 10-19 years was conducted using a pre-designed questionnaire. Anthropometric measurements of weight (kg) and height (cm) were taken and body mass index (BMI) calculated by weight (kg)/height2(m2). The weight status was classified as underweight (UW) <5th percentile, healthy weight (HW) between the 5th and <85th percentile, OW between >85th and <95th percentile, and obese (OB) equal to or >95th percentile using the CDC percentile ranking for BMI-for-age. Statistical data analysis was done by SPSS software version 20. P<0.05 was considered significant. Results: The mean age of adolescents in early, mid, and late adolescent age groups were 11.52 (1.13), 15.01 (0.82), and 17.72 (0.77) years respectively. The overall mean age of adolescents was 14.19 (2.63) years. The mean weight, height, and BMI of adolescents were 44.84 (11.35) kg, 1.54 (0.12) meters, and 18.91 (3.89) kg/m2 respectively. The prevalence of OW and obesity was 11.7%, and 5.4% respectively. A significant association was found between OW and obesity with upper socioeconomic status (p<0.0001), daily junk food intake (p<0.0001), screen time of more than 2 hours per day (p<0.0001), and no or decreased physical activity (p<0.0001). Conclusions: Adolescent obesity is a prevalent issue that requires early primordial and primary intervention through coordinated policy activities made by policymakers and medical professionals.
