Digitalization of education as a cultural value

Education is an indicator of global transformations taking place in the world and a source of social progress. The relevance of the research is due to the emerging scientific contradiction, which requires resolution, between the active process of digitalization of all spheres of human life and the potential capabilities of the educational institution to effectively implement digital services in the educational process. The problem of the research is to find an answer to the question: what are the main vectors of digitalization of education in modern conditions as a cultural value? The goal of the research is to reveal key directions of digitalization of education as basic guidelines for its quality in modern conditions. The research methods used are analysis, deduction, generalization, survey.The Research results: the dominant directions of the digitalization process of modern education have been revealed and the key trends in the digital transformation of education have been identified; the range of ICT within the framework of academic disciplines in universities in physical education and sports has been argued; factors that impede the spread of digital educational technologies have been systematized.Key conclusions: the dominant directions of the process of digitalization of education are introduction of digital programs for monitoring student progress, transfer of information, development of online learning, systems for universal student identification, design of digital models of educational institutions. ICT used in physical education and sports classes are an interactive whiteboard, a multimedia projector, electronic textbooks, preparation and demonstration of videos of the training process, etc. Factors hindering the spread of digital educational technologies are the demand for the development of special teaching materials for methodological support of the use of digital resources in the educational process; teachers’ conservatism towards digital innovations, etc.

Research on the Training Strategy of Logistics Management Innovation Talents Driven by the Integration of Industry, Education, Science and Innovation under the Background of New Business

With the continuous development of the times, new business has become a new trend. In this situation, there are new requirements for logistics management talents. Therefore, for logistics management major, it has become particularly important to drive the improvement of talent cultivation through the integration of industry and education, in order to further enhance innovation awareness. As for the current development situation, many teachers do not have rich practical experience and a certain understanding of business knowledge, which makes it difficult to have a clear understanding of the practical problems in the cultivation of management talents. In the new training context, it is necessary to fully establish a specialized teaching approach for logistics management major that integrates industry, education, science, and innovation.

Intervention needs assessment in children with heart diseases presenting to Tibebe-Ghion Specialized Teaching Hospital, Bahir Dar, North West Ethiopia – Tip of the iceberg of the intervention gap in Low-and-middle-income Countries (LMICs)

BackgroundPediatric heart disease is becoming a major contributor to childhood mortality. Almost half of congenital heart defects require intervention, either surgical or trans-catheter. Rheumatic heart disease also remains a global health problem in Low-and-middle-income-countries (LMICs). Intervention timing depends on the natural course and hemodynamic significance of the lesion with an emphasis on earlier intervention to prevent the damage of volume or pressure load and hypoxia. Objectivedescribe the current unmet intervention need of children with heart diseases presenting to Bahir Dar University Tibebe-Ghion Specialized Teaching Hospital. MethodsThis is a descriptive cross-sectional study involving three-hundred-seventy-six children (376) who had echocardiography-confirmed cardiac diseases over fifteen months from August 01, 2022, to October 30, 2023. Variables were analysed using IBM SPSS version 27 software. ResultsOf the 376 children with heart diseases, 54% were boys. The mean (SD) age was 53 (58) months, the median (IQR) being 26 (5–96). Congenital heart defects (CHDs) account for 68% of pediatric heart diseases. 77% of CHDs were acyanotic. Isolated Ventricular septal defect (21%) is the most common acyanotic CHD followed by patent ductus arteriosus (13.2%). Tetralogy of Fallot is the most common cyanotic CHD (41%). Rheumatic heart disease is the most common acquired heart disease (76.9%). 89.4% (336) of children were eligible for intervention need assessment. 35.4% (119) of intervention-eligible children had delayed presentation. 79.8% (268) of intervention-eligible children need intervention at the current presentation. 61%(163) of children who need intervention had delayed intervention timing. 242/268 (90.3%) of children with intervention needs were candidates for surgery. Only 0.7% of children had intervention. ConclusionOur study illustrates the unmet intervention need for pediatric heart diseases our health facilities faced to achieve the 2030 Sustained-development-goal (SDG) target.

Developing Students Core Competencies in English Teaching Through Multi-modal Reading Instruction

General Senior High School Curriculum Standards (2017 Edition) puts forward the idea of core competencies in the English subject at the high school level, and the traditional single-modal English reading teaching mode can t meet the needs of students development of core literacy. Therefore, teachers should adopt a multi-modal teaching approach in the process of reading teaching, combined with specific teaching tasks and contents, effectively develop students core literacy in English subject. Based on the theory of multi-modality and multi-modal teaching, and with specific cases of English reading teaching, this paper aims to explore the positive role of multi-modal reading teaching in the cultivation of core literacy in English.

Keys and Cords: A Comparison of Piano and Vocal Teaching Strategies

The profession of a music teacher has developed over the past years in a way where teachers are required to be more versitale and not focussed on one specific element. A lot of collegues of mine, including myself, work at a music school where they teach children not only their main instrument, but also a secondary instrument, in my case piano. This brings up interesting challanges as a lot of teaching strategies overlap, but there might also be approaches that differ between various instruments. In this research, we explore how private vocal lessons compare to private piano lessons and what the specific teaching strategies are of these instruments. Following up on this, we analyze how these finding inspire my own teaching practice and how one instrument might benefit from the teaching strategies of the other instrument. This research includes a dive into already existing literature, interviews with Conservatory teachers who specify in vocal and piano pedagogy and interviews with private school teachers. Additionally, observations were made of multiple vocal and piano lessons given by myself as well as the other teachers mentioned above.

Affinity Continuum: Toward Professional Autonomy

How does one become a good leader? The authors suggest that the path toward professional autonomy is illustrated by the affinity continuum. This is an original model of how skills are acquired based on a descriptive approach to a learner’s affinity to those skills. The authors describe trainer strategies that support reaching higher affinity levels in a learner and link them to a specific teaching style. The transitions between the stages are illustrated with a case study of a teacher trainee learning to use the drama triangle. Three affinity stages are presented—tentative, symptomatic, and conceptual—each of which is accompanied by the identification of discounts that are typically observed in trainees in the given affinity stage. The fourth stage is professional autonomy, where the skill becomes an integral part of the learner’s skill set and professional self. The authors propose that effective leaders should strive for professional autonomy and that they can use the affinity continuum as a tool for supporting the growth of their team.

Τhis work is the result of collaboration between the 4th Primary School of Alexandroupolis " Chronis Aidonidis" and the Laboratory of Special Vocational Education Training (EEEEK) and the Unified Special Vocational High School (ENEEGY-L) of Alexandroupolis. The collaboration occurred because artistic activities offer students multidimensional experiences (cognitive, emotional, psychomotor). The activities were designed and implemented based on the goals of co-education programs, the guidelines of the Detailed Curriculum of Studies of EEEEEK and Primary Education, the principles governing the inclusion process, and the use of special teaching principles in shaping the curriculum and apply special teaching techniques. Students were made aware that equal access to knowledge for all people based on their particular abilities is a constitutional imperative, and the democratic right to co-education of students is a universal good that ensures opportunities and learning possibilities.

Factors Influencing Preservice EFL Teachers’ Technology Integration Into Language Teaching

In the 21st century, preservice EFL teachers must be able to integrate technology into language education. However, very little research has been carried out on the specific factors that influence preservice teachers to integrate appropriate technology into their language teaching. This study aimed to explore exactly what influences preservice EFL teachers to choose the appropriate technology to incorporate into their lessons through a two-cycle design-based research study. The findings suggest that preservice EFL instructors' comprehension of language teaching methods and approaches has the greatest influence on technological integration in their classrooms. In addition, the instructor’s direct guidance also facilitates their appropriate technology integration into language teaching. As a result, teacher education programs are designed to provide preservice EFL instructors with language teaching methods and approaches before assisting them in learning how to incorporate appropriate technology into specific language teaching methods or approaches. Finally, the researchers suggest that instructors also provide direct advice to preservice EFL teachers as they explore the incorporation of technology into language education.

The Design of Intelligent Classroom Teaching in Table Tennis Forehand Attack

Intelligent classroom is the inevitable requirement of physical education reform to adapt to the development of the situation, and has unique practical value. Using the research method of literature and logical analysis, the wisdom factor is applied to the specific table tennis teaching. Combined with the characteristics of PE curriculum teaching, the smart classroom is used to formulate teaching objectives and the teaching design of pre-class preview, practice in class and consolidation after class, so as to promote students' smart growth and development. A Study on Cultivating Students' Cultural Awareness in English Reading Teaching in Junior Middle School

This article aims to explore how to deepen students' sense of identity with the excellent traditional culture of the Chinese nation and their sensitivity and ability to identify the similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign cultures in English reading teaching, so as to cultivate students' international and cultural awareness and intercultural communication skills. This article first reviews the concepts of core literacy and cultural awareness, and analyzes the importance of cultivating cultural awareness among junior high school students during the English reading teaching stage in junior high schools. Then, combined with specific reading teaching, it focuses on efficient ways to cultivate cultural awareness in junior middle school English reading teaching. Edukasi dan Promosi Kesehatan Autis di Panti Asuhan SLB-C St.Lucia Lau Dendang Kabupaten Deliserdang

Autism Education and Health Promotion at the St. SLB-C Orphanage. Lucia Lau Dendang, Deliserdang Regency” focuses on delivering autism education and health promotion aimed at improving educational and health outcomes for orphaned children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Aim: this implementation is to improve knowledge and management of autism among staff and residents of residential care, to advance the development of individual skills in children with ASD, and to improve their physical, mental and emotional well-being. Methods: A multidisciplinary approach was adopted, featuring individualized education plans, specific teaching methods, health promotion activities such as regular physical exercise, nutritional education, and hygiene practices, alongside targeted mental health support. Expected Results: Benefits include increased autism awareness, improved communication and social interaction skills for children, better physical health through structured exercise and diet, and increased emotional stability from various coping strategies. In addition, this initiative aims to foster a safe and supportive environment that meets the sensory and safety needs of children with Autism. The implementation of this activity shows how important adaptive and holistic parenting models are in special needs orphanages and suggests that with training and resources appropriately, significant improvements in the quality of life of orphaned children with Autism can be achieved.

Evaluating the impact of a 2-week Peer Enhanced E-Placement (PEEP) on pre-registration physiotherapy students’ attitudes, self-perceived confidence, and competence in delivering telerehabilitation.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about rapid digital transformation of physiotherapy practice and education. Previous studies have suggested a lack of knowledge, beliefs, and clinical acceptance of telerehabilitation as barriers to implementation and sustainability of telerehabilitation. Providing pre-registration specific teaching and practical experience of telerehabilitation may improve physiotherapy student confidence and competence in delivering telerehabilitation and support clinical acceptance of telerehabilitation in practice. A 2-week Peer Enhanced E-Placement (PEEP) was developed and evaluated to explore its impact on third year physiotherapy student attitudes, and perceived competence and confidence in delivering telerehabilitation. Students completed a Likert scale questionnaire, immediately pre and post the PEEP placement, rating their perceived confidence and competence in four key areas of telerehabilitation: assessment, intervention, communication, and problem solving. In addition, students participated in group discussions to explore the impact of the PEEP on their attitudes towards telerehabilitation. 59 students completed the PEEP, 49 (mean age 25±6.6 years, 41% male) completed both the pre and post placement questionnaire. 55 students participated in group discussions (n=8). Following the PEEP, self-perceived confidence and competence increased in all four key areas assessed. Analysis of the group discussions identified three core themes: Prior experience and assumptions of telerehabilitation, Opportunities and barriers, and Experience of the PEEP. Participation in a 2-week PEEP had a positive impact on physiotherapy student confidence and perceived competence in delivering telerehabilitation. Student attitudes towards telerehabilitation generally improved, with increased acceptance and recognition of its clinical value for physiotherapy practice. Students’ concerns echoed those of clinicians identified in prior research related to the opportunities and barriers facing telerehabilitation. The intensive structure of the PEEP, peer interaction and simulation appeared to positively impact on outcomes related to confidence and acceptance of telerehabilitation. Further research is required to understand and evaluate the effectiveness of pre-registration telerehabilitation training as a means of preparing students for practice and supporting sustainability of telerehabilitation in the post-COVID era.

Exploration on Task-driven Teaching Design of Industrial Robot Operation and Programming Course in Secondary Vocational Schools

Currently, the national goal for the training of talents in vocational colleges and universities is to cultivate high-quality skilled talents with powerful practical ability, good thinking, and in line with the needs of the manufacturing industry. For the industrial robot operation and programming, which is a comprehensive practical training course with both theory and practice, focusing on the improvement of students' Introductory operation, offline programming ability, and familiarity with the use of network communication systems and other learning objectives, it is proposed to apply the "task-driven teaching method" throughout the whole teaching process to fully mobilize students' initiative and guide them to analyze the problems and improve their practical skills from different perspectives. The article focuses on the requirements of the course and discusses how to improve the student's capacity to apply theory in practice. The article focuses on the specific teaching design ideas of the task-driven teaching method and the multi-dimensional evaluation and assessment mode in this course in combination with the requirements of the course.

PRE-SERVICE SCIENCE TEACHERS’ KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS BACKLOG PERPETUATED BY EMERGENCY REMOTE TEACHING

The adoption of Emergency Remote Teaching (ERT) during the COVID-19 Pandemic brought a shift in how lecturers teach in higher education, posing a threat to the usual development of competencies in students. This study aimed to uncover the knowledge and skills backlogs experienced by pre-service teachers. The study is framed within various concepts that characterize an ideal science teacher. Using a qualitative case-study design, data were collected through interviews with nine pre-service teachers who were subjected to the ERT. Transcripts of the interviews were analyzed thematically using the established framework as a lens. The findings indicate that while the science pre-service teachers acquired some technological knowledge, there was a concurrent loss of sufficient content knowledge, a crucial prerequisite for the development of Pedagogical Content Knowledge (PCK). Additionally, the pre-service science teachers highlighted a lack of knowledge in practical work and the specific pedagogies essential for teaching science. Study of conceptual metaphor in high school English Textbooks: A Case Study of People’s Education Edition

Since Lakoff and Johnson proposed the Conceptual Metaphor Theory, metaphor has gradually been studied as a way of thinking and acting rather than just a rhetorical device. In the past few decades, Conceptual Metaphor Theory has been applied to many fields, especially the field of Foreign Language Teaching. For second language learners, understanding metaphors in a different culture is one of the barriers in the process of second language learning. This paper makes a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the metaphors in the high school English textbooks. By enumerating three different metaphors in the textbook, it is not difficult to see that metaphor has caused obstacles to students' foreign language learning. At the same time, statistics on the frequency of metaphors in books can help us intuitively realize the universality of metaphor in language. Therefore, teachers should adjust their teaching strategies in time and have special teaching methods for learning material that contains metaphors.

Development оf Special Intellectual Abilities of Education Applicants to Study the Fundamental Sciences: The Main Advantages

The purpose of the article is to present the peculiarities of the development of special intellectual abilities of education applicants to study the fundamental sciences. The article emphasizes that the development of special intellectual abilities of education for the study of fundamental sciences has its own peculiarities, which is reduced to the choice of individual approach, enrichment of knowledge, development of creative abilities, study of relevant methods of teaching, intellectual and emotional support. The research methodology is based on the fact that the main individual methods and forms of work that can be used for the development of intellectual abilities include individual consultations and mentoring, individual projects, individualized training program, mentoring, organization of intellectual competitions at the all – Ukrainian and international levels. Scientific novelty is that the study of fundamental sciences requires the education of analytical, critical and creative thinking. Special teaching methods should contribute to the development of intellectual abilities of education applicants. Working in small groups, project activities, laboratory work, practical classes are just a few examples of methods that are effective for such development. Yes, special teaching methods contribute to the development of intellectual abilities of the applicants. At this stage, it is important to understand the peculiarities of using interactive teaching methods, individual approach, game methods of teaching, modern technologies. The fundamental sciences are a key component of education, contributing to the development of intellectual abilities of students in general secondary education. Their study stimulates critical thinking, analytical skills, and the ability to solve complex problems. The development of special intellectual abilities is a necessary prerequisite for effective study of fundamental sciences.

The Design and Practice of a Multi-solution Teaching Strategy: Taking the C Language Programming Course as an Example

This paper explores one problem with multiple solutions teaching strategy applied to the integration of theory and practice teaching courses in C language programming course. According to the cognitive characteristics of students for the same problem combined with the specific learning situation of higher vocational colleges, the course has adopted the three methods of basic flow control statement, switch statement, and array. Showing the methods and skills to solve the problem from different angles with the gradual implementation of the specific teaching helps students deepen their understanding of C language knowledge. It also guides students to use knowledge to solve practical problems, to achieve the teaching goals.

Fostering clinical reasoning ability in preclinical students through an illness script worksheet approach in flipped learning: a quasi-experimental study

BackgroundThe consensus that clinical reasoning should be explicitly addressed throughout medical training is increasing; however, studies on specific teaching methods, particularly, for preclinical students, are lacking. This study investigated the effects of an illness script worksheet approach in flipped learning on the development of clinical reasoning abilities in preclinical students. It also explored whether the impact of this intervention differed depending on clinical reasoning ability after dividing the students into high and low groups based on their pre-diagnostic thinking inventory (DTI) scores.MethodsThis study used a one-group pre-post test design and convenience sampling. Forty-two second-year medical students were invited to participate in this study. The course, “clinical reasoning method,” was redesigned as an illness script worksheet approach in flipped learning. The course was an eight-week long program. The students met once or twice per week with a different professor each time and engaged with 15 clinical cases in small groups in one classroom. Each time, one professor facilitated seven groups in a single classroom. The effectiveness of the intervention was measured using DTI before and after the intervention. A learning experience survey was conducted with post-DTI assessment.ResultsThirty-six students participated in the survey and their data were analyzed. The mean pre-DTI score was 170.4, and the mean post-DTI score was 185.2, indicating an 8.68% increase (p < .001). Significant differences were also found in both high and low groups between the pre- and post-DTI assessments. However, the low group improved much more than the high group and exhibited a significant increase in one of the DTI subscales as well. The overall average score on the learning experience survey was 3.11 out of 4.ConclusionThe findings indicated that the intervention was an effective instructional method for the development of clinical reasoning in preclinical students and was more beneficial for students with a low level of clinical reasoning ability. This study demonstrated that the intervention can be a feasible and scalable method to effectively and efficiently train clinical reasoning in preclinical students in a classroom.

Impact of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018) future nurse: Standards of proficiency for registered nurses on children's nursing curriculum – A cross-sectional study

BackgroundStudent nurses in the United Kingdom undertake field-specific pre-registration education. The implementation of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018) Future nurse: Standards of proficiency for registered nurses, has raised concerns that the increasingly generic component of pre-registration programmes is not adequately preparing newly qualified children's nurses to care for children safely. ObjectiveTo investigate how the introduction of the Nursing and Midwifery Council standards in the United Kingdom has impacted the structure and field specific content of pre-registration children's nursing programmes. SettingsAn online survey completed by 54 programmes, field, or professional leads linked to 76 pre-registration children's nursing programmes. This represents 80 % of higher education institutions with Nursing and Midwifery Council approved pre-registration children's nursing programmes across all four United Kingdom countries. MethodsA survey to capture the current content and changes to curricula since the introduction of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (2018) Future nurse standards. The survey included closed-ended and open-ended questions. Closed-ended questions were statistically analysed using SPSS v.28 for Windows. Open-ended questions were thematically analysed using Quircos v.2.1. Results50 % of respondents reported changes to theoretical content. In 27 programmes (35.5 %) there was a decrease in child-specific content. Child specific teaching methods accounted for less than 30 % of the content of all programmes whereas cross-field teaching methods (Adult, Mental Health, Learning Disability and Child learners together) accounted for over 70 % of the taught content. Analysis of qualitative data identified three themes: genericism as the focus, the challenge to achieve the standards' proficiencies, and dilution of child specific content. ConclusionsThe survey responses show disparities in how United Kingdom higher education institutions have interpreted the Nursing and Midwifery Council standards highlighting academics concerns on the growing genericism within pre-registration children's nurse education nationally. These findings will inform the next stage of the project comparing the impact of greater or lesser degrees of genericism on the outcomes of the programme for newly qualified children's nurses.
