Context and Content Analysis of the History of Female Composition in Eastern Galicia in Light of Gender Theories

For a long time, the profession of the composer was undeservedly on the periphery of the world of music and was considered not only few in terms of female representation in performance, music education and musicology, but also low-value and not worth discussing. The relevance of the article is due to the rethinking of the attitude towards female composers, including in the light of gender ideas. It is necessary to research the stories of the life and work of Ukrainian female composers from Eastern Galicia, S. Turkevich and O. Olshanetska, in order to fully return their figures to the national musical space, both in the performance and research spheres. The purpose of the article is to highlight the stories of the creative achievements of Galician female musicians. In the course of the research, the works of music critics, historians and psychologists related to the topic were analyzed. Content analysis and context analysis (biographical method), as well as analytical method, methods of comparison and systematization were chosen as the main research methods. As a result, it was established that due to ethnic gender stereotypes, gender-professional prejudices and socio-cultural features of the society of Eastern Galicia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the creativity of the mentioned female composers did not gain the necessary publicity. Despite the fact that female musicians had the opportunity to get an education and engage in creativity, the Ukrainian-Galician musical elite belittled their achievements compared to their male colleagues. While women's writing in Galicia developed rapidly and caused a public outcry, despite the innovation and boldness of ideas, traditional views on the gender issue continued to prevail in the musical sphere. Thus, the achievements of S. Turkevich went beyond the boundaries of traditionality as "too ambitious", while the works of O. Olshanetska did not have actual support for publication. The practical significance of the study is that it helps to demonstrate the influence of the socio-cultural context and stereotypes on the development of women's creativity in the musical sphere and to change the modern attitude towards them by increasing their recognition.

GENERAL CULTURAL KEY COMPETENCE AS A BASIS FOR FUTURE SPECIALIST TRAINING

In the article, taking into account the leading global and Ukrainian trends in the formation of general and professional competencies of the individual, general cultural competence is characterized as key while training specialists in the agricultural sector.
 The purpose of the research is to reveal, based on the generalization of theoretical foundations, the peculiarities of the content and structure of specialists’ general cultural competence, to substantiate the specifics of the formation of this competence among the graduates of agricultural institutions.
 It has been proven that general cultural competence, unlike other competencies, has a permanent character. So, if professional competence can be short-term, then key competencies are used by the individual throughout his life, while such competencies help the specialist in acquiring new competencies, which, in turn, allow him to develop and reach new heights of professional development.
 General human culture and characteristic features of national culture, the foundations of spiritual and moral relations and social phenomena, traditions and the ability to practically apply them in a variety of social relations, ideas about the scientific picture of the world, as well as personality qualities, the presence of experience in the field of development of the agrarian sphere as a cultural educational space.
 So, if you synthesize all the data of the process of formation of general cultural competence, their components are defined as value self-orientations on the self-assessment of the individual, motivational, and volitional components of the specialist’s competence. Individually, the overall cultural competence of an individual is revealed as professional self-awareness, self-acceptance as a professional in the agricultural industry; permanent self-determination; self-development of professional abilities; self-projection, building one’s professional growth strategy, implementing axiological foundations of one’s professional life, acquiring new qualities, mastering new professionally important abilities, or a continuous change in the structure of professionally crucial socio-cultural features that developed earlier.

Trichological problems at the intersection of dermatology and psychiatry: analysis of opportunities and ways of development

In recent decades of significant development in the world, a new perspective direction of integration of psychosomatic medicine and psychiatry/medical psychology, which is focused on the study of interaction between psyche and skin, is psychodermatology. Among topical psychodermatological problems, special attention is paid to the peculiarities of the psycho-emotional sphere in different types of alopecia, because, even in the light of socio-cultural features, in most societies, hair is an important component of attractiveness, and its pathology can have serious psychological and even psychiatric. Analysis of the state of the problem in this field has proved that the presence of alopecia is a powerful factor that has a negative impact on the mental state and quality of life of the patient. The presence of alopecia is associated with high levels of depression and anxiety, as well as with worse social functioning and lower quality of life. This requires additional research and development of personalized therapeutic and rehabilitation measures for eliminate the negative psychiatric consequences of alopecia

Political Modernization and Democratization in Croatia

Abstract This article deals with Croatian democratization as the most important process of its political modernization and identifies the main facilitating and inhibiting factors and their influence on its outcomes. The analysis is carried out at the sociostructural, institutional-political and sociocultural levels, while the outcomes of democratization are evaluated in relation to the features of a consolidated (substantive) democracy and the basic features of political modernization. It is shown that the specific sociostructural and sociocultural features – modeled by contingent factors – had a decisive influence on the context, processes and actors of democratization and its outcomes. It turns out that elite-driven democratization in such a specific context produced further limited modernization. Despite the normative-institutional consolidation and stability of democracy, incomplete sociostructural modernization and sociocultural adaptation, as well as democratic deficits, indicate that the political modernization of Croatian society and the state is still an open process.

The origins of piano performance in Podillia

The article analyzes the socio-cultural features of the development of Podillia's piano performance. It is noted that piano art is an important part of domestic musical culture. Indicated that the study and generalization of the experience of the past allows a holistic consideration of the radical transformations of modern musical art in general, and piano performance in particular. Features of the development of Podillia's piano performance are considered in the works of N. Kashkadamova, O. Lihus, Yu. Portnyi and others. Piano performance preserves rich experience and cultural traditions of domestic musical art. The authors draw attention to the fact that the birth and improvement of Ukrainian piano art took place under the influence of socio-cultural and geopolitical conditions of the ХІХ-ХХ centuries and involved the synthesis of the creative language of Ukrainian and foreign piano schools. It is noted that Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kamianets-Podilskyi are cities in which piano performance in Podillya actively developed. It was determined that during this period one of the foci of development of piano performance in the Podil region were the newly established educational institutions. A. Kotsipinskyi, V. Zaremba, M. Zavadskyi, T. Ganytskyi and others were famous cultural figures who promoted the development of piano performance in Podillia. Their creative achievements intensified the development of piano performance in this region. It is noted that the expansion of Podillia's piano performance opportunities was also initiated by various musical projects, festivals, and competitions held in Vinnytsia. An important event in the cultural life of Vinnytsia was the holding of a series of concerts «History of the development of piano art». Organized by the piano department of the Vinnytsia School, this cycle of concerts was diversified by various pieces of music of different styles and genres.

Social Practice and Portrayal of Women in the Choice of Cosmetic Products in Lagos Nigeria

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to examine the influence of socio-cultural practice features and portrayal of women in the choice of cosmetic products in Lagos Nigeria.
 Materials and Methods: The study examined social practice features and portrayal of women in choice of cosmetic products in Lagos Nigeria using a mixed method design. The study adopted purposive sampling because this study was only to investigate cosmetic product advertisements and involved only women. The data were collected from seven advertisements of popularly used cosmetic products from company websites and transcribed to ease the process of analysis. They were then analyzed based on Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework of Critical Discourse Analysis. Data for the quantitative aspect data was collected using a questionnaire based on Likert-type scale questions ranging from 1-5 to capture the variables and analysed using descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation and inferential statistics as correlation analysis and regression analysis through SPSS and presented in tables.
 Findings: The findings indicate that socio-cultural practice features significantly predicted portrayal of women in the choice of cosmetic products as the result shows direct positive of social-cultural practice. Most of the portrayal of women tend to persuade the women on a certain form of beauty despite the Nigerian culture. As a result, many people believe what the advertisement says and choose to see themselves in the light of these advertisements. This is part of the effect on social change created by advertisements in the society. Thus, advertisers tend to change the way society views beauty by creating a new beauty ideology and a new standard of beauty derived from what their advertisement says.
 Implications to Theory, Practice and Policy: The study was guided by CDA and the Magic of Meaning theory. Results show that there is a statistically significant relationship between the influence of socio-cultural practice features and the portrayal of women in the choice of cosmetic products. Using CDA, this indicates some social wrongs in the advertisements including the issue of self- esteem in women thereby eroding confidence of the consumers; the demand for women to continually look attractive through these products and compulsive impulse to buy these products. Issues of self-esteem in women are raised thus, cosmetic companies should learn to advertise their products with less manipulative words that will be more societally acceptable. Also, further research is recommended since advertising has an essential role in society.

Linguacultural Framework for Developing Master’s Students’ Bilingual Rhetorical and Polemical Competences

The development of core humanitarian competencies is one of the crucial issues of modern university humanitarian education, including, in particular, bilingual rhetorical and polemical competences, without which an individual will be unableto take part successfully in international discussions and debates on socially sensitive topics and controversial issues in the humanities. And, although in the new millennium, a number of research studies have tried to open the door to the world of discussions and debates to Russian university students, using for educational purposes this or that format of international discussions or debates, nevertheless, an analysis of the theoretical and applied results of these pedagogical searches, as well as a methodological analysis of rhetoric syllabi and Russian & foreign course-books clearly indicate that students are left in the dark about important sociocultural and linguo-cultural features of international discussion and debate formats. As a result, some Master’s students’ classroom debate experiences do not make them really capable of interacting with representatives of other cultural and linguistic communities in international discussions and debate settings. It seems that the first step to improve this didactic situation is to specify linguocultural components of bilingual rhetorical and polemical competences (in terms of knowledge, skills, sociopsychological attitudes, abilities and personal characteristics of an individual who is able to act as a successful polemist and participant in modern online and offline discussion) on a linguo-didactic analysis of the Euro-Atlantic formats of international discussions and debates as linguocultural phenomena. The paper gives an insight into the author’s vision of a component structure of the above-mentioned general humanitarian competencies in the context of the communicative actionoriented and sociocultural approaches to designing a Master’s degree programme of bilingual communicative education through Russian and foreign languages.

Your Smiling Face is Impolite to Me: A Study of the Smiling Face Emoji in Chinese Computer-Mediated Communication

This paper explores whether and in what situation the smiling face emoji will influence the interpretation of an utterance in a virtual context. The researchers drew examples from daily WeChat communication and posted them to participants in the experiment. Experimental studies found that the smiling face emoji decreases the politeness of an utterance but does not mitigate the illocutionary force of an impolite utterance. Further studies demonstrate that the interpretation is related to two features of WeChat: the interactant’s identity (age) and the situation of communication. For one thing, utterances with smiling face emoji may be interpreted as disrespectful by younger Chinese rather than the older. For another, the smiling face emoji is always interpreted as impolite when the utterances are related to the interactants’ feelings. We also infer from the findings that older people might respect the feelings of the addresser more than younger people in WeChat communication. This paper will help avoid miscommunication and contribute to understanding the socio-cultural features of interpersonal interaction in a virtual context.

Комуникативни и социокултурни особености на представата за успех сред дигиталните потребители в България

Abstract: The paper presents the results of a survey among digital consumers in Bulgaria. The text proposes a concept of a four-dimensional model of the perception of success among digital consumers in the country. The model includes four sociocultural categories: well-being, happiness, achievement and social capital. The hypotheses are, first, that the sociocultural notion of success includes concepts belonging to at least one of the four dimensions of the success model; second, that the notion of success is associated with topics in respondents' daily lives, such as income size and employability. The aim of the study is to approbate whether and how many of the replicated associations fall into the four sociocultural categories. The study was conducted from January to June 2023, it covers 265 Bulgarian citizens who use the social networks Facebook (Meta) and LinkedIn. The methodology includes a combined questionnaire of a free association experiment and a close-ended questionnaire. The paper communicates some of the results of the free association experiment. According to the results the respondents’ answers belong to all four categories of success. There is a significant difference in the total number of reactions, produced by men and women, which belongs to the social capital category. The following conclusions are drawn at the end of the paper: the digital generation needs to understand its own values and attitudes to have a better quality of life; knowledge of notions of success is useful for team managers and HR professionals; and the new digital generation’s motivation differs from that of the so-called analogue generations. Обучение этикету видеоконференции студентов неязыковых специальностей, изучающих испанский язык как второй иностранный, в рамках формирования социокультурной компетенции в области цифровой межкультурной коммуникации

The aim of the study is to substantiate the need to train students of non-linguistic majors in etiquette norms and rules of communication in the video conference format for socio-cultural competence formation in the field of digital intercultural interaction. The paper describes the socio-cultural features of the etiquette adopted in the Spanish-speaking world for effective digital communication in the video conferencing format, which lay a substantial foundation for teaching the culture of speech communication in Spanish during video conferences to future specialists in the field of information security. The paper describes the results of a pedagogical experiment on the assessment of knowledge and skills among 3rd-year students of the training programme 10.03.01 Information Security in the field of video conference etiquette in Spanish. The scientific novelty lies in identifying the etiquette norms and rules of communication in the video conference format, which are the components of the content of teaching Spanish as a second foreign language to students of non-linguistic majors. As a result of the study, the socio-cultural factors mediating effective communication with a representative of Spanish linguoculture in the conditions of videoconferencing and determining the specifics of socio-cultural competence formation among students studying Spanish in the field of digital intercultural interaction have been identified; the authors’ system of exercises and diagnostic game have been developed to assess the level of knowledge and skills of students in the field of the video conferencing etiquette peculiar to the Spanish culture of communication.

Predicting individual cases of major adolescent psychiatric conditions with artificial intelligence

Three-quarters of lifetime mental illness occurs by the age of 24, but relatively little is known about how to robustly identify youth at risk to target intervention efforts known to improve outcomes. Barriers to knowledge have included obtaining robust predictions while simultaneously analyzing large numbers of different types of candidate predictors. In a new, large, transdiagnostic youth sample and multidomain high-dimension data, we used 160 candidate predictors encompassing neural, prenatal, developmental, physiologic, sociocultural, environmental, emotional and cognitive features and leveraged three different machine learning algorithms optimized with a novel artificial intelligence meta-learning technique to predict individual cases of anxiety, depression, attention deficit, disruptive behaviors and post-traumatic stress. Our models tested well in unseen, held-out data (AUC ≥ 0.94). By utilizing a large-scale design and advanced computational approaches, we were able to compare the relative predictive ability of neural versus psychosocial features in a principled manner and found that psychosocial features consistently outperformed neural metrics in their relative ability to deliver robust predictions of individual cases. We found that deep learning with artificial neural networks and tree-based learning with XGBoost outperformed logistic regression with ElasticNet, supporting the conceptualization of mental illnesses as multifactorial disease processes with non-linear relationships among predictors that can be robustly modeled with computational psychiatry techniques. To our knowledge, this is the first study to test the relative predictive ability of these gold-standard algorithms from different classes across multiple mental health conditions in youth within the same study design in multidomain data utilizing >100 candidate predictors. Further research is suggested to explore these findings in longitudinal data and validate results in an external dataset.

Architectural and spatial evolution of the market as a place of social interaction of society

The article considers the evolution of market architecture from the Ancient World to the present day and current market significance in the following parameters: architecture, urban planning, and social and cultural spheres of society. The analysis provided four models of market organization. The four typologies of markets adopted in the Soviet period have been actualized, and their architectural, urban planning and socio-cultural features have been placed in the current context. Preconditions for the emergence of community centers based on markers have been considered. Basic requirements for setting up a new type of community centers have been formulated, and the main trends in their development have been identified based on a review of modern markets.

Entomophagy as an alternative source of protein and a new food strategy

With the projected growth of the world population, an increase in food production on a sustainable commercial scale, the search for alternative sources of protein and a shift to new eating strategies are needed. The article provides an overview of the existing relevant scientific information based on the analysis of publications in international (PubMed, MedLine, Google Scholar) and domestic (RSCI) electronic databases. The review considers the phenomenon of entomophagy as a potential solution to the problem of food shortage in the world, its biomedical, ecological, sociocultural, evolutionary and economic features. The species of the most commonly used edible insects and the countries in which insect biomass products have become traditional in the diet of the population are described. The nutritional value and consumer attitude to such products are highlighted. Insect biomass products are characterized by a high content of proteins, fats, minerals, vitamins and are superior in calories to traditional sources of animal and vegetable protein. In this regard, entomophagy has a preventive potential in the preparation of a diet and treatment for metabolic disorders, osteoporosis and other nosologies. The article notes gender differences in relation to adherence to entomophagy in Russia. Despite the revealed values of entomophagy, the issue of food safety for humans remains unresolved. Among the main concerns are the development of possible allergic reactions, the content of pathogenic microorganisms and harmful substances in the composition of food from insect biomass. The review presents the prospects for increasing the share of consumption of insect products and the economic benefits that the globalization of entomophagy will entail.

Gender is conceptualized in different ways across cultures

AbstractGender can be considered an embodied social concept encompassing biological and cultural components. In this study, we explored whether the concept of gender varies as a function of different cultural and linguistic norms by comparing communities that vary in their social treatment of gender-related issues and linguistic encoding of gender. In Study 1, Italian, Dutch, and English-speaking participants completed a free-listing task, which showed Italians and Dutch were the most distinct in their conceptualization of gender: Italian participants focused more on socio-cultural features (e.g., discrimination, politics, and power), whereas Dutch participants focused more on the corporeal sphere (e.g., hormones, breasts, and genitals). Study 2 replicated this finding focusing on Italian and Dutch and using a typicality rating task: socio-cultural and abstract features were considered as more typical of “gender” by Italian than Dutch participants. Study 3 addressed Italian and Dutch participants’ explicit beliefs about gender with a questionnaire measuring essentialism and constructivism, and consolidated results from Studies 1 and 2 showing that Dutch participants endorsed more essentialist beliefs about gender than Italian participants. Consistent with socio-cultural constructivist accounts, our results provide evidence that gender is conceptualized differently by diverse groups and is adapted to specific cultural and linguistic environments.

Political and Business Negotiations in Spain: Socio-cultural and Linguistic features.

The article is devoted to the analysis of the specifics and structure of negotiations and discourse in politics and business, some speech techniques and phrases, as well as important details of national and cultural specifics that need to be studied in order to avoid conflicts and misunderstandings. The objectives of this work are to identify the ethno-cultural features of business communication in Spanish during negotiations, to analyze some lexical units and speech structures of the Spanish business language and to describe situations that can lead to conflicts in business communication.The material of the article was scientific culturological works of russian and foreign authors, interviews of political figures and businessmen. The research methodology includes analytical, descriptive, interpretive, classification methods.The scientific novelty of this work consists in identifying and systematizing common verbal and nonverbal features of political and business negotiations in Spain, as well as the linguistic techniques used. It should be concluded that Spaniards definitely prefer verbal communication to non-verbal, try not to focus on audiovisual material and presentations. Analysis of the way of life of Spaniards, national values, traditions, holidays, shows that in Spain there is a huge number of events, festivals which reflects the expressive and creative nature of the Spanish people. Ignorance of the fundamental elements of the Spanish national culture can lead to disagreement in official business relations, so they should be thoroughly studied before negotiations begin.

SOCIAL ORIENTATION OF ATHLETES: SOCIO-CULTURAL AND AXIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS

Relevance. The contradictory and ambiguous situation that has developed in modern sports requires an expanded range of scientific research in the field of axiology and psychology of sports. The existing facts of negative manifestations in sports determine the search for socio-cultural and axiological features of the social orientation of athletes.
 The purpose of the study was to conduct a sociocultural and axiological analysis of the social orientation of athletes.
 Research methods: The methodological basis of the study was socio-philosophical, ethical-philosophical, cultural, macro-psychological and axiological characteristics of sports as a social institution, socio-psychological aspects of sports and sports activities; ideas of multidimensionality and systemic development of the social orientation of an athlete.
 When conducting a theoretical study, a theoretical analysis of the literature, the study of dissertation research, regulatory documents and scientific articles, generalization and systematization of the results obtained were used.
 The results of the study. It is substantiated that the phenomenon of sport, which demonstrates a general social orientation, is the object of a wide range of cultural, philosophical, psychological, sociological scientific works. The analysis made it possible to identify socio-cultural and axiological factors that determine the social orientation of athletes.

Информационный матракаж и инфожирение: дискурс-реалии современного медийного пространства

The research aims to highlight the universal linguosemiotic features of the modern media-digital cluster. The scientific novelty of the paper consists in a comprehensive identification of the features of the discourse models for discursive manipulation in the texts of modern mass media in line with the study of the linguosemiotic mechanisms of the functioning of matraquage discourse, both in the space of a complete utterance and at the level of the universal pool of world linguoculture. The scientific novelty of the research also consists in introducing into active scientific use the terms “raw information”, “matraquage discourse” and “infobesity” in order to clarify the conceptual apparatus and to achieve a clearer semantic structuring of the terminological system of information theory and communication theory. One of the main epistemological aspects of the paper is the development of the problems of macrodiscursive interpretation of the media space as a semiotic whole and value, i.e. the issues of searching for the foundations of subjective or universal identity, which can be addressed, in one way or another, by referring to language. An important point of the research is the synergy between the conceptual and epistemic dimensions of knowledge, in other words, between the linguistic and conceptual analysis of media discourse in line with the interpretative-semiological approach. The achieved results showed the predominance of universal features in media discourse and also made it possible to detect information about the elements of the worldview and cognition of the collective actor of matraquage discourse at the level of media discourse functioning. The obtained data made it possible to identify a number of socio-cultural features in the linguistic thinking of the consumer of media information that are required to overcome crisis-related and stressful situations associated with infobesity on the path of existential and psychological stabilisation of cognition and communication behavioural models.

Political toxicity in the contrastive perspective (Based on American, British and Ukrainian media discourse)

This research focuses on the issue of political toxicity in the media discourse of the United States of America, Great Britain and Ukraine. It defines common and distinctive features of semiotization of political toxicity in the media discourse. In political communication, toxicity is understood as a type of interaction between various participants in political discourse, which is characterized by a high degree of aggressive verbal, para- and/or non-verbal behavior and discriminates against the opponent based on race, ethnicity, gender, etc. resulting in such a politician (politicians) being perceived and then defined as toxic. Its purpose is to identify common and different ways and means of semiotization of political toxicity. It is based on methods of associative and identification experiments, computer multimodal analysis, as well as statistical processing of the information received. The study reveals the modes of the toxic effect deployment and the dictums of the politician’s toxic image formation in the their collective, associative-individual, symbolic, and media discourse-portrait. Complex analysis of a politician’s toxic image in different linguistic cultures takes into account the politicians’ behavior as opinion leaders and the coverage of the target audience, to which the effect of their toxic rhetoric extends: one person, a group of people, or the wider community. At the same time, the types of harm resulting from the visualization of the media toxic effect can be aimed at both the psychological states of the addressee and their gender, age, and professional characteristics. The paper determines means of verbal expression of toxicity both by the aggressive-emotional type of the politician and by the socio-cultural features of political struggle in the United States of America, Great Britain, and Ukraine.

Оn improving anti-corruption measures in the Republic of Kazakhstan on the basis of world experience

Corruption has become one of the most dangerous social pandemics of our time. Its causes are rooted in the socio-cultural, economic, institutional and other features of the development of society and the state. In the context of globalization, most countries, including the Republic of Kazakhstan, pay special attention to the area of combating corruption, as one of the key areas of activity of state bodies. In this article, the author carried out a comprehensive legal analysis and generalization of the experience of international legal counteraction to corruption, an analysis was carried out in the context of general international legal issues of countering corruption, the main approaches to solving problematic issues of combating corruption were studied, and the author’s vision for solving these problems was proposed.

Социокультурные особенности проблемы домашнего насилия в России

The severity of domestic violence in Russia is due to the attitude of the population and the government to the problem. Its emergence is due to the presence of a large number of socio-cultural features of the Russian peo-ple, determined by their worldview and way of thinking, based on the patriarchal way of family life, lack of re-spect for women, traditionally negative attitude towards divorce. The article outlines the influence on the devel-opment of the situation of such factors as the population’s multiculturalism, its rejection of European values, the absence of a law on domestic violence in Russia, the lack of trust in the authorities, and the fragmentation of statistics. It is emphasized that centuries-old traditions, as well as ingrained stereotypes to this day have a great influence on the perception of women and their role in the family and society. Violence against elderly citizens and children is also raised in the article. In addition, it is noted that the socio-cultural characteristics of the Rus-sian people can be considered as the main reason for the facts of violence in the domestic environment.
