Abstract

The article considers the evolution of market architecture from the Ancient World to the present day and current market significance in the following parameters: architecture, urban planning, and social and cultural spheres of society. The analysis provided four models of market organization. The four typologies of markets adopted in the Soviet period have been actualized, and their architectural, urban planning and socio-cultural features have been placed in the current context. Preconditions for the emergence of community centers based on markers have been considered. Basic requirements for setting up a new type of community centers have been formulated, and the main trends in their development have been identified based on a review of modern markets.
