Impact of Corporate Social Responsibility on Corporate Financial Performance: A Review of Literature

The concept of ‘corporate social responsibility’ has become popular in recent years particularly in the developing countries. The present paper is aimed to examine the relationship between Corporate Social Responsibility and financial performance of companies in India. This paper is based on the analysis and findings of 27 empirical studies conducted by various researchers and related literature in India. The paper seeks to answer the question how financial performance is affected by the corporate social responsibility. An attempt has been made to find out whether corporate social responsibility has either a positive impact, a negative impact or no impact on financial performance of a corporate. It has been observed that there is positive relationship between the corporate social responsibility and financial performance of companies.

THE INFLUENCE OF PROFITABILITY TO THE COMPANY VALUE WITH CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AS A VARIABLE MODERATION Case Studies on Companies Listed in the Sri Kehati Index for the 2012-2016 Period

This study aims to determine whether the company value as measured by price book value is influenced by the company's ability to obtain profits measured by Return on Assets and moderated by corporate social responsibility in companies listed on the SRI - KEHATI index for the period 2012 - 2016. Researchers are interested in conducting research This is because Investors in determining stock investment see the ability to obtain corporate profits but also see whether the company has carried out social responsibility for nature and the social environment around the company or called green investment. The company has carried out corporate social responsibility which can be seen from whether the company has carried out CSR in accordance with the GRI index set by the government with 79 indicators. In this study using corporate social resposibility as a moderating variable with a number of samples of annual report research of 18 companies listed on the SRI - KEHATI Index from 2012 - 2016 and found that profitability as an independent variable and corporate social responsibility as a moderating variable has a positive effect on value The company measured by Price book value is 72.40% meaning that profitability and corporate social responsibility have a strong match in assessing the company's performance, while 27.60% is influenced by other variables not examined.

Analysis of the intention to invest in a socially responsible manner: a segmentation of the Spanish investor

ABSTRACTSome authors view socially responsible investment as a tool for promoting the social responsibility of companies. The profile of the socially responsible investor is a recent topic of research, especially in Spain where there are few papers that analyse their attitudes. Our paper aims to describe the socio-demographic and attitudinal profile of Spanish investors who have a greater intention to invest in a socially responsible manner. A survey has been conducted on a sample of 415 potential investors. The results identify three segments depending on whether or not they are willing to make financial sacrifices, with the potential market of socially responsible investors being 7 out of every 10 Spanish investors.

Kohl's donates $5 million to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin

In support of the company's broader corporate social responsibility platform focused on family health and wellness, Kohl's announced March 25 it will donate $5 million, over four years, to Children's Hospital of Wisconsin to help launch a multiyear mental health strategy to improve mental health services for Wisconsin kids and their families. The grant will directly address the state's need for greater access to mental health services for children and generate awareness about the impact a child's mental health has on his or her holistic well‐being. Children's Hospital of Wisconsin will devote the Kohl's funding to mental health access, early detection, prevention, education and awareness through the expansion of school‐based mental and behavioral health services, introduction of new and refined systemwide screening tools, mental health programming research and an awareness campaign.

RANCANG BANGUN PROTOTIPE SISTEM PENGELOLAAN ARSIP DIGITAL PADA CILEGON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY (CCSR)

CCSR is a non-governmental independent agency that synchronizes and integrates CSR Corporate work programs in Cilegon city with the Cilegon City Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD). CSR (Corporate Sense Responsibility) is a company's social responsibility to the environment. This research was conducted at CCSR in order to design prototype of digital records management system. The objective of the research is to prepare a digital document management system design that refers to the process of CSR fund disbursement by CCSR, thus helping CCSR to manage CSR activities effectively, efficiently and accountably. The prototype of the application is built on the development of dashboard design, using the OOAD (Object Oriented analysis and design) model and tested using ISO 9126 testing method. The result of this research is prototype of digital records management system developed into an integrated solution Document Management Systemand can help CCSR to manage they operation document.

ANALISIS PERBEDAAN KINERJA SAHAM PADA PERUSAHAAN YANG MELAKUKA CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DAN PERUSAHAAN YANG TIDAK MELAKUKAN CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PADA PERUSAHAAN MANUFAKTUR YANG TERDAFTAR DI BURSA EFEK INDONESIA

The purpose of this study was to examine differences in the performance of stock in a company that does Corporate Social Responsibility and the company does not undertake Corporate Social Responsibility in companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange. Samples of this company is a manufacturing company that does Corporate Social Responsibility and the company does not undertake Corporate Social Responsibility in 2013. The stock performance is analyzed by using the ratios earnings price ratio, price-to-book ratio and earnings per share and do independent samples test or Mann Whitney test for testing the significance of differences. The results of this study indicate that outlines the company's stock performance that does Corporate Social Responsibility has no difference with the stock performance of companies that do not do a Corporate Social Responsibility. This is shown by the results obtained in the analysis of financial ratios which includes price earnings ratio, price to book value and earnings per share.

The role of institutional ownership in strengthening to the enterprise value on the banking issuers

This study examines the role of institutional ownership in moderating the relation between fundamental factors of a company and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Enterprise Value (firm value). The type of this research is an explanation research method. The sampling method was a proportional random sampling method of the population of banking companies of the Indonesian Stock Exchange. The method of data collection was documentation. The method of data analysis was Multiple Regression Analysis. The results of this study showed that simultaneous net profit margin and corporate social responsibility had a significant effect on the firm value. Partial test shows that net profit margin variables had an effect on the firm value and corporate social responsibility variables, which consist of economy, and had no influence on firm value. The results also indicated that institutional ownership strengthened the relation of fundamental factors and corporate social responsibility with the Enterprise Value.

This paper aims to highlight the importance of maintaining a public policy consisting of being transparent with microfinance users and, above all, associating the actions regarding the social responsibility of companies regulated by the financial market, in the sense that they generate value for entrepreneurs promoting reducing information asymmetry in pursuit of better financial decision making for their businesses.

The Role of Company Size on CSR Commitment, the Existence of Female's Board, Managerial Ownership, Board Size to Disclosure of Corporate Social Responsibility in Islamic Banking

Information on disclosure of corporate social responsibility is information on a company's social responsibility to parties outside the company. This disclosure is disclosed in the company's annual report and corporate governance report. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of corporate governance and the size of the company on the disclosure of Islamic banking in Indonesia and to analyze the effect of moderating variables on disclosure of corporate social responsibility. The number of datatook in this study was 48 data that had been processed. The data used in this study were the annual Islamic banking reports, financial statements, and corporate governance reports respectively. This test used regression tests and moderating variables. The results obtained that CSR commitment has positive correlation to CSR disclosure and the existence of female's board, managerial ownership has negative correlation to CSR disclosure, meanwhile, board size does not affect the CSR disclosure. After applied the moderation variable, it increased the disclosure of corporate social responsibility.

Social Entrepreneurship: An Emerging Trend in India

Today in the era of sustainable development everybody is concern about the society. We take a lot from society. Now the questions arises what we are giving in return. This lead to emergence of social entrepreneurship. Social entrepreneurship is a term that is used to represent the whole picture of the process of social change on a larger and more impressive scale than a traditional non-governmental organization (NGO). It is very significant in the study of voluntary organizations, non-profit organization. Previously, organizations dealing with key social issues had to be idealistic, philanthropic with entrepreneurial traits. Social entrepreneurship in India is emerging mainly because the government is also very interested in its promotion, not only to finance or advice, but also to its licensing. After the compulsion of corporate social responsibility in Companies Act 2013, CSR in the private sector with clearly allocated funds and full-fledged action teams have played an important role in improving the image of social entrepreneurship. The purpose of the paper is to study the growing trends of social entrepreneurship in India and the new initiatives taken by various social entrepreneurs. It also provides a brief idea of the different theories of social entrepreneurship. Efforts are being made to provide information and an exploratory study of social business support activities and social entrepreneurship companies in India.

The Study on the Relationship between the Environmental and Financial Performances of Corporates Which Have Adopting the System of Environmental Accounting in Taiwan

The purpose of this paper is to study the relationship between the environmental and financial performance of Corporates. For the environmental awareness of people, the social responsibility of companies and the environmental policies and laws of government, more and more companies would adopt the system of environmental accounting, and then they would disclosure their environmental performances. From the review of literature and the statistics results on the financial and environmental performances of listed companies which had adopted the environmental accounting system in Taiwan, the results are: 1.the adopting on the system of environmental accounting might make the corporations’ financial performances worse, but not significantly make corporations’ environmental performances better. 2. There should be a positive relationship between the environmental performance and financial performance of companies.

Territorial agglomerations and corporate social responsibility: the role of science and technology parks

This paper is framed within the stream of research that investigates the factors that explain corporate social responsibility and analyses the role played by the immediate area in which a company operates. Its purpose is to examine the impact of science and technology parks on the social responsibility of companies physically located in territorial agglomerations. Using reasoning derived from institutional theory, the study examines the effects of the sense of belonging to a park, the involvement of institutions with links to a park, and the know-how that exists within a park. An analysis of a sample of 239 companies in high tech sectors in Spanish science and technology parks showed that all three aspects have a significant positive influence on the implementation of corporate social responsibility, although know-how was proved to be of secondary importance compared to a sense of belonging and the role played by institutions interrelating with parks.

DO GOVERNMENT AND PRIVATE SHARIA COMMERCIAL BANKS PRACTICE SIMILAR FINANCIAL SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY DISCLOSURE?

Previous studies highlight the relationship between Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility. Good corporate governance has been found significantly influence the level of a company social responsibility whether in conventional or Islamic companies context. Most of the studies focus of the studies focus on conventional banks or Islamic banks belong to government or private actors. However, limites or even none of the studies has tried to compare the impact of corporate governance on social responsibility between government and private owned sharia banks. Through quantitative method, we studied the differences between government and private owned sharia banks using six sharia banks samples. The sample was purposively selected from Indonesian Bank website. Our data analysis shows that all three variables; independent commissioners, boards of directors, and sharia supervisory boards are significantly impact the companies’ corporate social responsibility practices. Eventhough, the difference between government and private owned sharia banks in social responsibilty practices is not significant, the result shows that the level compliance of government sharia banks towards social responsibiity is higher than private sharia banks. This might prove that government sharia banks might more commit to social welfare than private sharia banks. Future reseach with more samples and variables might be required to make the finding more valid.

Social Responsibility of Companies in Contemporary Business

The definition of social responsibility has often changed over the time. Differences in the economies of the United States of America (USA) and Europe have a strong impact on the social responsibility and stakeholders’ expectations from socially responsible business (SRB). The economic sector of the USA makes a significant contribution to addressing social and development initiatives in the local community, while in European countries there is an expectation that the state will meet such needs. The globalization processes transfer American corporate culture all around the world, as well as the engagement in solving social problems in the communities in which they operate. The economic model of social responsibility puts the profit motivation into the first place and emphasizes that it is the most effective tool for solving the world problems. The new circumstances in which businesses operate and the fact that information is available always and everywhere have a strong influence on the evolution of the social responsibility model from the economic to the socio-economic model. The role of business is not just to make profit, but also to cooperate between companies and society, and a balanced benefit for all stakeholders. This work consists of three parts. The introduction describes a traditional and new approach to social responsibility and benefits for companies that operate under the principles of social responsibility. The second chapter outlines European Union (EU) guidelines on SRB while concluding remarks synthesize the benefits of social responsibility in modern business as well as the critiques of the model.

Isomorphism and Corporate Social Responsibility of Companies in the Sustainability Index of BM&FBovespa

Objective: Our objective was to verify the existence of isomorphism within actions aimed at Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of companies in the Sustainability Index (ISE) of BM FBovespa. Method: In this qualitative research study, we completed a content analysis of sustainability reports and information from the official websites of ISE companies. Originality / Relevance: Past studies related corporate social responsibility and isomorphism and analyzed them as the motivation and influence for the presentation of sustainability reports. However, these studies have failed to identify whether there is isomorphism in Corporate Social Responsibility actions. Results: When reviewing all private Brazilian companies, the financial institutions sector was the one that presented the most isomorphic processes. We also verified that multinational companies suffer limited isomorphic pressures; additionally, no isomorphism was verified in companies that have the state as the majority partner. Theoretical / methodological contributions: This research contributes to the study of the process of isomorphism in relation to Corporate Social Responsibility, by analyzing data divulged by the companies (verifying similarities of the adopted actions).

Responsabilidade Social Empresarial: uma análise das práticas de uma empresa de fruticultura

This study aims at analyzing the social responsibility practices of a company in the fruit growing sector through the theoretical-conceptual models proposed by Schwartz and Carroll (2003) and Melo Neto and Froes (2001). This is a field research with qualitative approach developed with a descriptive method. Semi-structured interviews were carried out with three managers of Agro Melão Mossoró (company pseudonym). The results indicate that the company's social responsibility actions are consistent with the assumptions of Schwartz and Carroll (2003) and Melo Neto and Froes (2001). The company’s actions are based on economic, legal and ethical dimensions, however, there is a rooting of CSR in the economic dimension, causing the other dimensions to be reached or satisfied in a secondary perspective, because of the economic dimension. Its actions are primarily aimed at the internal public, although some actions also involve the community. Its CSR policy goes through a moment of migration in its standards of conduct, from internal responsibility, to citizen responsibility.

Corporate Social Responsibility of Oil Companies and Host Community’s Satisfaction: Case Study of Total Company Block (10) Yemen

This study aims to investigate the relationship between oil host community and TOTAL Company that operates in block 10 in Sah district in Hadramout governorate, Yemen. Moreover, the study examined the relationship between the philanthropic activities provided by the company and the environmental impact caused by oil operation of the company, and the satisfaction of host communities. The quantitative research method was used by distributing 270 questionnaires in host communities in Saha district, Hadramout governorate. Furthermore, this research used simple random sample to collect the data and SPSS was used for descriptive analysis and cleaning the data while Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) used to testing the hypothesis.The results found that the level of host community's satisfaction is low. In addition, it approved that there is a positive relationship between philanthropic activities and the host community's satisfaction. Furthermore, the study revealed there is a negative relationship between the environmental impact caused by the company' operations and the host community's satisfaction. The study recommended that to promote the host community's satisfaction the oil producing company need to concentrate on protecting the environment form oil accidents and offering the charity activities for the resident of host community.
