Simulation of interaction E-learning mode in political courses based on virtual reality and digital entertainment environment

E-learning is a social network learning method that greatly promotes the dissemination of knowledge. Students can use mobile network terminals for video learning and also share their learning materials, making the learning process interactive and entertaining. This article is based on virtual reality technology and studies the effectiveness of the interactive E-learning mode for political courses in the digital entertainment environment. This online teaching method benefits students and teachers a lot with its unique advantages, and is unanimously favored by experts and scholars. These courses not only provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Marxism, but also help them develop a correct world outlook, values, and ethics. Meanwhile, in the current digital technology environment, interactive online learning has the characteristics of virtualization and entertainment. Students can comment on social hot topics and share their favorite content through various media platforms. The results indicate that the application of artificial intelligence and virtual reality technology in the interactive e-learning mode of political networks has important advantages.

Traditional Vs Modern English Language Teaching Methods: Study Based on a Survey

The study compares traditional and modern English language teaching methods and examines the prevalence and adoption of these methods by English language teachers. The sample consists of 100 English language teachers. The researchers use OLS regression, binary logistic regression and structural equation modelling to establish an association between adopting a particular language teaching method and the characteristics of the language teachers. Results indicate that experienced teachers prefer the social learning method, while less experienced teachers advocate the bilingual, experiential, and listening and observation methods. There are gender differences in accepting these language teaching methods. Female language teachers show an inclination towards the listening and observation method, whereas male teachers ardently favour the bilingual and experiential methods. Regression analysis reveals a higher probability of adoption of bilingual translation methods by non-English educational background teachers. Experienced teachers adopt the Social Learning Method, while less experienced teachers prefer experiential learning and bilingual translation methods more. Results of the path analysis using structural equation modelling indicate that the gender of the teachers mediates their educational background in the adoption of the particular language teaching method.

Financial Technology and Bandura's Social Learning at Alabio Duck Farmers in Upper North River in Supporting Food Security to Realize Business Sustainability

Purpose: This study aims to examine the financial technology and Bandura’s social learning of Alabio Duck Farmers to support food security and realizing the business sustainability Design/methodology/approach: Garfinkle Ethnometodology Methods is done by data triangulation and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to reveal the regeneration breeding business and the implementation of financial technology concept. Findings: The alabio duck breeders community in North Hulu Sungai District understand and apply the financial technology. The management regeneration is done by directly invites their children and nephews to cultivate alabio duck and taught it like in the Bandura social learning method and indirectly has supported the food security and economic resilience program in South Kalimantan. Research limitations/implications: This research is done at duck breeder community in North Hulu Sungai District . It has limitation of small samples. Practical implications: Related government agencies should give counseling or training activities in financial technology, including the training in simple financial reporting for alabio duck farmers in North Hulu Sungai District to make the details of their financial position. Social Implications: This research is is consistent with Albert Bandura's social learning. Management regeneration of Alabio farmers indirectly support the program of food security of the community and national economy. Originality/value: The alabio duck breeders community in North Hulu Sungai District is not researched by the previous researcher. This is the first research to increase the comprehension and implementation of financial technology to compete with other duck breeders at local level in South Kalimantan and outside the Kalimantan Island.

Social Experience Guidance for College Students’ Entrepreneurship in the Social Network

The low success rate of entrepreneurship is quite common for contemporary college students, and its main reason can be attributed to their lack of social experience and entrepreneurial guidance, thus, it’s of certain practical significance to study the social experience guidance for college students’ entrepreneurship and this paper aims to explore this problem based on social network. At first, this paper introduced the formation mechanism of the social experience guidance for college students’ entrepreneurship, proposed a novel Social Network Representation Learning (SNRL) method for college students’ entrepreneurship, which could attain more information of social experience guidance from networks with isomorphic substructures. Then, in the social network of college students’ entrepreneurship, this paper discussed the extraction method of structural subgraph of neighborhood space of college students and other entrepreneurial subject nodes, and proposed a method for building sub-networks similar to the scale and development state in the social network of college students’ entrepreneurship, and realized the information sharing of social and entrepreneurial experiences among sub-networks. At last, this paper constructed a Social and Entrepreneurial Experience Guidance (SEEG) model, and verified its effectiveness in experiments.

Teaching and Learning in Post-Covid-19 Era: An Evaluation of Digital Transformation Experience

This study aimed to ascertain how digital technologies have impacted teaching and learning capabilities in private universities post COVID-19 experience. Utilizing a descriptive research design, the response of a sample size of 229 lecturers from private universities in Abuja was obtained through a structured questionnaire whose reliability was tested with Cronbach’s Alpha method. Data obtained was analyzed with descriptive statistics, while the hypotheses postulated were tested with the multiple regression models through the application of SPSS version 20. Based on the analyses, the finding is represented in the following formula: Y = F(X1, X2, X3, U). Where Y represents learning capabilities measured through content assimilation and skill acquisition; F represents a function or dependent; X1 represents Zoom teaching and learning method; X2 represents Goggle meet/classroom teaching and learning method; X3 represents Social Media teaching and learning method; while U technical factors and acceptable error. Based on the findings, the study recommends that private universities should: start utilizing a combination of virtual and physical methods of teaching and learning; motivate lecturers to develop the culture of online teaching and learning through Zoom meetings and Goggle Classroom; as a matter of priority, provide the needed technical needs such as steady electricity, internet connectivity, data and laptops or computers for lecturers; and encourage and execute constant training for lecturers on the use of digital tools for teaching and learning.

An approach to autonomous learning of advanced English vocabulary

With the development of science and technology and the development of various learning software, the learning methods of advanced English are more and more diversified, and there are more and more platforms for learning (such as corpus retrieval software). This paper expounds the data-driven learning method and the concept of independent learning from the perspective of development, discusses the role of modern networked and intelligent social data-driven learning method in advanced English learning, and the positive role of combining with independent learning in advanced English learning, aiming to provide some reference suggestions for college students to learn advanced English.

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP INTENTION DURING COVID-19 CRISIS AMONG UNIVERSITY STUDENTS: A CASE STUDY FROM INDONESIA

The young generation as agents of change needs social entrepreneurship knowledge to create social entrepreneurship intention to solve social issues, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted to examine social entrepreneurship intention among university students in Batam City, Indonesia based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) with the addition of empathy, entrepreneurship education, and COVID-19 stress perception variables to the framework. This research used the purposive sampling method through an online questionnaire that was distributed to all students of the Faculty of Economics Universitas Internasional Batam who took social entrepreneurship course. The data collected from 269 respondents were analyzed using SmartPLS version 3.0 to test the proposed hypothesis. The research result confirmed that attitude, perceived behavioral control, and empathy have significant positive relationship with social entrepreneurship intention. Entrepreneurship education and subjective norm have no significant positive relationship on social entrepreneurship intention. Meanwhile, COVID-19 stress perception was not proven to have a significant negative relationship with social entrepreneurship intention. Based on this result, universities are suggested to improve social entrepreneurship learning method so it can generate student’s interest in social entrepreneurship as an attractive career choice.

A Co-evolutionary, Transdisciplinary Approach to Innovation in Complex Contexts: Improving University Well-Being, a Case Study

Complex societal challenges cannot be resolved with quick fixes, nor can they be successfully addressed from disciplinary or institutional silos. In this article we propose an innovative approach to tackling contemporary societal challenges based on complexity theory and transdisciplinarity. The lens of complexity reveals that such challenges emerge within complex contexts. Complex challenges cannot simply be resolved, due to their dynamic, non-linear nature. Instead, the complex context itself can be steered in a certain desired direction through iterative action and learning cycles. Transdisciplinary approaches help us understand how different perspectives and ways of knowing held by relevant actors can be combined to serve effective action in complex contexts. We have integrated complexity theory and transdisciplinarity to create a co-evolutionary model of innovation illustrating that who we work with, how we work, and what we learn and create co-evolve over time. We show how an innovation approach based on building a vision and including a reflexive social learning method can provide a guiding structure to this co-evolutionary process. We illustrate this approach with a case study focused on improving the well-being of staff and students at a university. We conclude the paper with implications for design.

PEMBENTUKAN SIKAP SOSIAL SISWA MELALUI PEMBELAJARAN IPS DI SMP BRAWIJAYA SMART SCHOOL MALANG

The objectives of this study were to: (1) describe the process of forming students' social attitudes through social studies learning methods for class VII SMP Brawijaya Smart School Malang, (2) describe forms of student social attitudes formed through social studies learning methods for class VII SMP Brawijaya Smart School Malang, (3) describes the change in students' social attitudes after the process of forming social attitudes through social studies learning methods for class VII SMP Brawijaya Smart School Malang. This research uses a qualitative research approach with a descriptive qualitative research type. The data collection methods used were observation, interview, and documentation. The author acts as an observer in observation. In this study, researchers conducted data analysis through data reduction, data presentation, and verification (drawing conclusions). The results showed that (1) the process of forming social attitudes of seventh-grade students of SMP Brawijaya Smart School Malang through social studies learning methods was carried out by the teacher by involving two factors, namely internal factors (students) and external factors (school, home, and community environment. ), (2) the forms of student social attitudes can be seen by the existence of activities in class and outside the classroom (extracurricular activities) as well as school culture and regulations, and school culture (3) as a whole from some of the social attitudes of students who experience the most visible changes, namely changes in manners and disciplineKeywords: Social Attitudes; Social Studies Learning Method

Agile social learning – capacity-building for sustainable development in higher education

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to understand the usefulness of an agile social learning method in higher education to build capacity for sustainable development at the community level. Social learning methods intend to empower students (and instructors) to work together in connection with real-life issues – combined with acquiring a conceptual understanding – to analyze issues at hand and work out solutions. The agile format of the method was aimed at a subject that is adaptive and responsive to change to empower the students to take action toward sustainable development.Design/methodology/approachThis study was based on a case study methodology where the running of the subject was documented and analyzed for two years. The target student group was maritime professionals who had an interest or were in a position to work with developing sustainable solutions in their home organizations (mostly in developing countries).FindingsThe results of the analysis indicate how the students learned about environmental, social and economic spheres of sustainable development and their linkages; how the subject format stimulated the students to develop different “learning paths” between the three spheres of sustainable development, which enabled a multi-faceted understanding of sustainable development issues; and, finally, how the students were able to design evolvable sustainable development solutions.Originality/valueThe results indicate both the novelty and usefulness of the agile social learning method to build capacity for sustainable development through the subject designed for higher education.

The Influence of Social Interaction Learning Model, Learning Motivation, Social Attitude on the Student Learning Result of Geographic Subject in Public Senior High Schools in Aceh Province

Purpose – The aim of this research is to test the difference of sudents learning outcome of Geographic subject taught with social inquiry learning model, social simulation and students’ social investigation, social behavior, learning motivation of SMA in Aceh Province.
 
 Design/methodology/approach – The research methodology employed in his research was quasi-experimental with the design using a Non-equivalent Control Group Design method. The experimental class and the control of this research are selected randomly. The subject of this research is ninth grade student of public SMA in Aceh Province, Indonesia. Based on the early observation that the researcher conducts, total public SMA in Aceh is 344 schools. This study took 3 (three) study group of every SMA to be managed as a research subject, which was a class taught using a group investigation, social inquiry, and social simulation learning method. Data analysis technique is inferential analysis intended to test the research hypothesis conducted by using varians analysis technique (ANAVA). 
 
 Findings – The findings that there are no differences in student learning outcomes of Geography subject taught with social inquiry learning models (A1), social simulation learning models (A2) and group investigative learning models (A3). There are differences in the learning outcome of geography subject and different social attitude, which is a high social attitude (B1) and social attitude (B2). There is an interaction between the learning model (A), social attitudes (B) and learning motivation (C). There is an interaction between learning models (A) and social attitudes (B). There is an interaction between learning model (A) and learning motivation (C). There is an interaction between learning model (A) and learning motivation (C).
 
 Originality/value – The research on the application of social interaction learning model to improve learning motivation, social attitude, and students learning outcome at the geographic subject of SMA in Aceh Province, Indonesia.

Learning a minority language through authentic conversation using an online social learning method

ABSTRACTAdvances in technology are currently helping to speed up the globalisation of ‘super’ languages. One can argue that at the same time technology might be used to help reverse the decline of less widely spoken languages. Cada Dia (CD) is a social learning method which uses online web meeting platforms, in combination with asynchronous learning management systems, to enhance the language learning experience. CD provides an immersive learning strategy to encourage authentic conversations in a real time environment to create dynamic and meaningful learning encounters. Using a vignette data analysis technique in combination with a survey research method, this paper is a reflection on the analysis of learners’ experiences during an eight week Cada Dia Welsh (CDW) pilot study; its aim is to gain an understanding of online social learning methods for minority language learning. Central to the research was understanding online pedagogical practices with a particular emphasis on authentic conversation for minority languages such as Welsh.

A participatory method to enhance the collective ability to adapt to rapid glacier loss: the case of mountain communities in Tajikistan

The rapid loss of small glaciers worldwide might result in mountain villages changing from having plenty of water during the growing season, to facing a scarcity even in scenarios with adaptation. Climate-change effects might cause the need for significant changes in rural mountain economies that currently rely on irrigated agriculture, pastoralism and labor migration. Previous research mainly focuses on geophysical aspects and little is known about the local ability to understand climate-change indicators or local collective adaptive capacity. A 2010 participatory case study in the Zerafshan Range, Tajikistan, disclosed a local lack of awareness of climate change and its consequences. We present a social learning method based on scenarios and visualization. The process exposed a remarkable potential for comprehensive adaptation, including in water harvesting, choice of crops and livestock, environmental enhancement, skills and conflict management. We recommend the approach as a model to promote local collective adaptive capacity development. The case study revealed high risks of massive out-migration from mountain villages if adaptation starts too late: countries with a high proportion of mountain agriculture might see significant losses of agricultural area, a reduction in food production and an increase in conflicts in areas where immigration occurs.

Social Learning, Critical Reflection and the Perception of Facticity in Deliberation on Water Reuse

Critical reflection involves the uncovering and understanding of the assumptions, which are made in the development of knowledge and the establishment and perception of facts. A capacity to understand the development of facts is proposed as an important outcome of social learning. The public perception of the facticity of expert scientific and technological knowledge is analysed in four sets of workshops conducted with publics who utilised recycled water, were within close proximity to water recycling schemes or lived in an area where planned water recycling schemes were to be implemented. The purpose of these workshops was to develop a social learning method, which could be utilised within public engagement about water reuse management. Jonathan Potter's concepts of offensive and defensive rhetoric and reifying and ironising discourse were used to describe how a public perceived expert knowledge as factual or resisted the facticity of expert pronouncements about water reuse, which were utilised in the workshops. Examples of this type of rhetoric and discourse were identified in the deliberative workshops developed in this study of social learning about water reuse and its implementation in public engagement.

Effectiveness of Coaching Socially Withdrawn/Isolated Children in Specific Social Skills

Abstract Ladd demonstrated the effectiveness of the social learning method for increasing social interactive behaviour of ‘mildly’ withdrawn/isolated children with their peers. The present study replicated Ladd's investigation with two important differences: 1. the subjects were ‘severely’ withdrawn/isolated children, and 2. the training sessions, unlike Ladd's fixed time schedule, continued until the subject's level of performance reached the level of ‘average’ peers in each targeted social skill. The findings indicated that the social learning method increased social interaction of ‘severely’ withdrawn/isolated children with their peers. However increasing their rate of behaviour in targeted social skills to the level of performance of their ‘average’ peers required approximately four times as many sessions of training as Ladd conducted with ‘mildly’ withdrawn/isolated children.

Effectiveness of a Social Learning Method for Enhancing Children's Social Interaction and Peer Acceptance

Previous research indicates that the consequences of peer isolation or rejection may be severe. The present investigation examined changes in low-accepted children's behavior and peer acceptance resulting from social learning approach to social skill training. Third-grade children responded to a sociometric measure and were later observed on targeted social skills. 36 children with low scores on both criteria were randomly assigned to 1 of 3 experimental conditions: skill training, attention control, and nontreatment control. Children in the training condition were coached in 3 social skills: asking questions, leading, and offering support to peers. Sociometric and observational assessments were conducted upon completion of the experimental procedures and at follow-up. Trained children spent a significantly greater percentage of time engaging in 2 of the 3 trained skills at posttest and follow-up, whereas control group children remained the same or declined. Unlike their control group counterparts, trained children also evidenced significant and lasting gains in classroom peer acceptance. The results are interpreted as support for the intervention's effectiveness and a social learning explanation of behavioral change.
