Formal Language Use in Conversations among Second-Semester Students at English Education Study Program of Universitas Nias

This study aims to describe the use of formal language in conversations among college students semester II at English education study program of Universitas Nias. This research used comprehensive qualitative method. Data were taken from video conversations to evaluate how students apply formal language in formal situations. The results show that students begin to use formal language with respect and professionalism through the use of standard vocabulary, complex sentence structures, and correct grammar. The study also highlights the factors that influence the use of formal language, as well as the importance of practice and feedback in developing formal speaking skills and preparing students for future professional environments. By emphasizing formal language practice and providing constructive feedback, teaching can help students build competence and confidence in a variety of communication contexts.

The Influence Of Online Customer Reviews, Online Customer Ratings And Free Shipping On Purchase Decisions Through The Shopee Marketplace (Case Study of 5th Semester Management Students)

The title of this research is The Effect of Online Customer Review, Online Customer Rating and Free Shipping on Purchasing Decisions through the Shopee Marketplace (Case Study of 5th Semester Management Students). The purpose of the study was to determine which factors are most dominant in influencing purchasing decisions. This study uses pourpuse sampling technique, namely population members have certain characteristics, namely those who use the shopee application directly as targets and research objects. This study uses quantitative methods on 65 respondents. The population used in this study were 5th Semester Management Students and the sampling in this study was random sampling. Based on the results of multiple linear regression, the regression equation Y = 4.236 + 0.774 (X_1) + 0.490 (X2) + 1.322 (X3) is obtained. And the coefficient of determination R. Square (R2) obtained a value of 0.791 or 79.1% on purchasing decisions in the shopee marketplace. While the remaining 0.209 or 20.9% is influenced by other variables that are not included in this research model. The research results and hypotheses show that Online Customer Review, Online Customer Rating, and Free Shipping have a positive and significant effect both partially and simultaneously on Purchasing Decisions.

Effectiveness of Structured Teaching Programme on Knowledge Regarding HIV/AIDS among B.sc Nursing 1st Semester Students: A Review Analysis

HIV/AIDS remains one of the most significant global public health challenges. Since the identification of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) in the early 1980s, significant advancements have been achieved in comprehending, preventing, and managing the infection. The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) targets the cells of the human immune system, they either destroy them or damage their normal functioning. In the initial stages of infection, there are no apparent signs or symptoms. However, when the illness becomes more severe, the patient's immune system weakens, making them more susceptible to opportunistic infections such as tuberculosis (TB) and Kaposi's sarcoma. AIDS is a disease that leads to a person's death by causing multi-system dysfunction. Sexual contact is the most common way that HIV is transmitted from one person to another or from a mother to her unborn child during childbirth. Traditional birth attendants must receive education and training in safe health practices, raising awareness, and preventing and controlling diseases. For this research, our target population consists of 1st-semester B.Sc. Nursing students. It is well known that nursing students frequently come into contact with HIV/AIDS patients while on clinical rotations and that despite this, they remain highly susceptible to the illness because of their ignorance about it. Therefore, there is a necessity for implementing a program that can enhance their understanding and protect them from HIV/AIDS.

Tourist Guide Writing Project: Assisting 4C Skills through Project-Based Learning in English for Tourism

One of the recommended teaching methods in the Indonesia’s Merdeka Belajar (Freedom to Learn) Curriculum is Project-based Learning (PjBL). This research aims to explore the implementation of PjBL in assisting the students’ 4C skills through a writing project in English for Tourism Class in Indonesia. This research employed a qualitative design to investigate the PjBL implementation by the teacher to the fifth semester students at a Tour Guiding Program. An open-ended questionnaire, interview, and teacher reflective notes were conducted to collect the data. The data analysis included data reading and categorization, data matching, data reduction, data display and interpretation, and drawing conclusions. The results showed that PjBL gave the opportunities to train the students’ 4C skills through group tasks, data collection, presentation, and the tourist spot visit. They also learned to develop an English writing text more meaningfully, and to construct knowledge about tourism from the real-world context. The challenges found were time limitation, student different characteristics, and teacher’s limited experiences. Teachers who are eager to apply PjBL may use this teaching procedure in this research with the considerations of these challenges and classroom needs. Besides, supplementing an observation method and expanding the research scope are recommended for future research

Enhancing Students’ Speaking Skills in Speaking for Academic Purposes Subject through Active Debate At The 4th Semester in Academic Year 2023/2024 Universitas Panca Sakti Bekasi

In Speaking for Academic Purposes, the students must be able to speak actively. And there are some materials on this subject, one of them is Debate. Active debate is one way to improve students' speaking skills. So, the purpose of this study was to improve students’ speaking skills through Active Debate. This research method is classroom action research, which is used in two cycles, and each cycle has four steps: planning, action, observing, and reflection. The data presented in this study were obtained from observations, interviews, and students’ speaking scores. The subjects of this research were fifteen students in the fourth semester of the Speaking for Academic Purposes Class at Panca Sakti University. In the study, the researcher got the result, namely the percentage of speaking scores. The score for students speaking test in cycle one was 52.36 % passed, and 47.64 % failed; Passed 78,2% and 21.8% failed in cycle two. So, the increase in yield in cycles 1 and 2 is 25.84%. And score for aspects of observation in cycle one is 71,38% passed and failed: 28,62%; passed 92,5% and 7,5% failed in cycle two. Based on the data above, it can be concluded that learning English, especially speaking through active debate, can improve students’ speaking skills.

Efectiveness of Argumentation Flipped Learning (AFL) Assisted by Macromedia Flash Software to Improve Student’s Understanding of Physics Concepts

<p>The objective of this research was to assess the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of enhancing students' comprehension of physics concepts. The research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method use ADDIE model. This research was conducted in Physics Education of Muhammadiyah Purworejo University with the research subjects of 4th semester students in a limited trial of 5 students and a broad trial of 8 students. The instruments used in this study were lesson plan validation sheet, media validation sheet, lesson plan implementation sheet, student activity sheet, physics concept understanding test sheet, scoring rubric, student response questionnaire, and notes on educational activities. Data evaluation techniques were quantitative, N-gain, and T-Test. The results of the study obtained (1) the validity of the application of the AFL model assisted by macromedia flash software was declared valid, (2) the practicality of the application of the AFL model assisted by macromedia flash software, as seen from the implementation of the lesson plan obtained an average of 3.72 in the good category and the reliability test was 93%, (3) the effectiveness of the application of the AFL model assisted by macromedia flash software, as seen from the results of increasing concept understanding obtained N-gain value of 0.68 which is included in the moderate category, response questionnaire with good category, and student activity with good category. It is concluded that the application of AFL model assisted by macromedia flash software is valid, practical, and effective.</p>

Development of Application-based Interactive Science E-Modules PocketBook to Improve the Digital Literacy and Creative Thinking of Middle School Students

This research aims to develop an application-based interactive Science E-Module PocketBook to improve the digital literacy and creative thinking of junior high school students. This research method used research and development with a 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). Validation of the E-Module was carried out at the Jember University Master of Science Education campus while the validity test, practicality test, and effectiveness test of the application-based interactive Science E-Module PocketBook was carried out at SMPN 10 Jember and SMPN 12 Jember. The subjects in this development were class VIII even semester students. Results This research showed that the average validity score obtained is 86% by expert validators. The percentage of response results from the limited scale and class scale tests at SMPN 10 Jember were respectively 85.1% and 86.6%, each score can be categorized as very valid. Application-based interactive science e-module PocketBook It not only contains material but there are also assignments to improve students' digital literacy and creative thinking. Application-based interactive science e-module PocketBook the theme of vibrations and waves has also been distributed to two classes at SMPN 12 Jember with student response scores of 81.9% and 85.3% respectively.

A GRAMMATICAL ERROR ANALYSIS ON THE TRANSLATION OF SIXTH SEMESTER STUDENTS ENGLISH EDUCATION STUDY PROGRAM OF STIT IBNU RUSYD TANAH GROGOT

The objectives of the study are to know the most common grammatical errors made by the sixth semester students of English Education study program, STIT Ibnu Rusyd Tanah Grogot in translation recount text, and to identify the causes of the errors. The sample of this research 10 students. The method which is used in this research is descriptive analysis. Firstly, students were given the text in Bahasa about recount text. Afterwards, the data were collected, identified, and then classified based on grammatical classification. The result of the study showed that The most common errors made by sixth semester students of English Education study program in the level of grammar were Misformation (regularization). First, the frequency of misformation (regularization is 260 errors under the percentage 69,5 % of total errors. Second, the total error of omission (content of morphemes is 81 errors under the percentage 21,7 %. The third is 10 errors or 2,7 % from misformation (archi-forms), 9 errors or 2,4 % from addition (simple), 6 errors or 1,6% from addition (double marking), 5 errors or 1,3 % from misformation (alternating-forms), 2 errors or 0,5 % from omission (grammatical of morphemes) and 1 errors or 0,3 % from misordering. However, there are no errors in addition (overgeneralization). The errors were suspected because they were unappropriate with the learning style. It still confused the students which one the learning style that appropriate with theirself in learning grammar. The Impact of Distance Education on Teaching Reading and Writing Skills: A Study among First Semester Students at the Faculty of Languages at Benghazi University

During the COVID-19 pandemic, faculty members and students had to leave theirclassrooms and move into online education contexts. This study has attempted to explorethe effect of distance education on reading and writing skills among first semesterstudents at English department, faculty of languages at Benghazi University. To do so,firstly, the starting point was comparing students' performance on two tests one after faceto face teaching and the other after online teaching. Then a semi structured interviewswere conducted with 20 students who were chosen randomly to understand the reasonsbehind their performance. Using Thematic Analysis (TA), students’ responses weretranscribed, codified, and interpreted. The findings of TA revealed that along with severaldisadvantages and challenges that students experienced in distance education with regardto learning English reading and writing skills, distance learning provided someopportunities and benefits for their learning. The study also provided some solutionsregarding online challenges.

The Influence of the Probing Prompting Model on Students’ Mathematics Learning Outcomes at SDN 2 Kayangan

This research aims to describe whether there is an influence of the Probing Prompting Model on the Mathematics Learning Outcomes of Grade 4 Students at SDN 2 Kayangan. This research was carried out at SDN 2 Kayangan on class 4 students in the second semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. The method used in this research is quantitative with a quasi-experimental method in the form of Pretest-Posttest Group Design. The population in this study were 4th grade students at SDN 2 Kayangan. The sample for this research consisted of 26 students. Data collection techniques use tests and documentation and data collection instruments use pre-test and post-test. The validity of this research uses validity tests and reliability tests. The data analysis technique uses descriptive analysis, the normality test uses (Klomogrov Smirnov Test) and the homogeneity test uses (Lavene Test). Meanwhile, hypothesis testing uses the T-test or T-Test which produces tcount 13,832 > ttable 0.388 which proves that there is an influence of the probing prompting model on mathematics learning outcomes.

Enhancing Students’ Mastery On Phrasal Verbs By Applying Make A Match Technique

This is Classroom Action Research (henceforth, CAR) which was mainly carried out to prove that the implementation of Make A Match technique could enhance students’ mastery on phrasal verbs and to describe the students’ responses towards the implementation of Make A Match technique in learning processes of phrasal verbs. This CAR was carried out in two cycles in which each cycle consisted of four phases. The research subjects of this CAR are the fourth semester students of the English Language Education Study Program in the Academic Year of 2022/2023 at a private university in Medan consisting of 14 students. The analysis of quantitative data shows that the students’ total score and mean increased continually from the pre-test, formative test, and post-test. The students’ total score in the pre-test is 270 and the mean of the pre-test is 19.3; the students’ total score in the formative test is 792 and the mean of the formative test is 56.6; the students’ total score in the post-test is 1.072 and the mean of the post-test is 76.6. The analysis of qualitative data shows that the learning processes of phrasal verbs through the application of Make A Match technique ran very well. The class atmosphere was more alive and enjoyable after Make A Match technique was implemented so that the students were more active and motivated to learn and master phrasal verbs. It is advisable that English teachers or English lecturers apply Make A Match technique to teach phrasal verbs to their students.

The Effect of the Application of Differentiated Learning as an Effort to Increase Student Learning Motivation in Biology Subjects

The purpose of this study was to increase students’ interest in the biology curriculum. Three components of differentiated learning, namely visual, auditory, and kinesthetic, were used in this study. This research was a two-cycle classroom action research project that began with a pre-cycle. Each cycle consists of planning, action, observation, assessment, and reflection. For the 2022-2023 academic year, the research focused on class XII, even semester students at SMAN 1 Belitang III OKU Timur. Based on the results of research involving 29 students, the number of students who completed pre-cycle activities was 8 (27 points, 58 percent), while students who did not complete were 21 (72 points, 42 percent), with an average score of 55 points, 17. In cycle I, there was an increase in the number of students who completed 15 (51 points, 72 percent), while the number of students who did not complete was 14 (48 points, 28 percent), with an average score of. This study proves that the use of differentiated learning can increase the motivation to learn biology in class XII, even for semester students of SMAN 1 Belitang III OKU Timur in the 2022-2023 academic year. There was a very high increase in cycle II compared to the previous cycle, with the number of students who reached the minimum brilliance criteria as many as 28 students (96,55%), while the number of students who did not complete was 1 person.

Reading was an important language skill that students learned in learning the Arabic language, and teaching reading related to teaching vocabulary. Learning vocabulary is a basic requirement for learning a foreign language. After the researcher learns that the method and means used in SD Islam Qur’ani are traditional and were not effective in conducting vocabulary teaching, with evidence after observation, the researcher arrived at the results that the students are unable to understand the meaning of vocabulary. It leads to a weakness in the students ability to learn the Arabic language, so the researcher conducted research on the topic “Using the Snakes and Ladders Method in Teaching Vocabulary in SD Islam Qur’ani” "To determine the effectiveness of using the snakes and ladders method in the process of teaching vocabulary. To achieve the intended goal, the researcher designed an experimental research for this research, and the population for this research was all the students of the fourth semester, numbering 45 students. So the researcher took as a sample the research the fourth semester (2) as the experimental group, numbering 22 students. As for The method used to collect data was the method of testing and direct observation, and the researcher obtained the result of the research, which is that the use of the snakes and ladders method is effective in the process of teaching vocabulary in SD Islam Qur’ani. The evidence for this is that the result of the arithmetic t-test is greater than the table t-test result That means 2.09>13.81

Analysis of Factors Causing Students Learning Difficulties in Learning Science

This study employed a mixed method to analyze learning difficulties faced by students in seventh-grade science subjects and identify factors that cause them. This study was conducted on 96 students in the first semester. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires, interviews, and documentation. The result of this study indicated that the form of a ranking of the science material in seventh grade in the first semester from the most difficult to the easiest; Heat and Its Transfers, Temperature and Its Changes, Matter Classification and Its Changes, Classification of Living Things, Energy in Living Systems, and Scientific Objects and their Observations. While the factors that cause it are internal and external factors. Internal factors include psychological aspects such as talent, interest, and emotions; and physiological aspects like minor health problems. External factors cover the family conditions; the school environment, such as learning media and infrastructure; and the community, such as the use of social media.

تنفيذ نموذج تعلم الكتابة بضوء التفكير الإبداعي (التعلم بالمشروع PJBL والتعلم بحل المشكلة PSL)

The creative thinking-based learning model can develop students' divergent thinking in learning, including learning writing skills. Previous research showed low enthusiasm for learning and incomplete academic results. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of implementing a writing skills learning model based on creative thinking with project-based learning (PJBL) and problem-solving-based learning (PSL). This research used a quantitative approach with 55 students in the fifth semester of the Arabic Language Education Department (PBA) at STIQ Amuntai. This type of research is a quasi-experiment using pre-tests and post-tests in one group. The data test is a paired sample test using t-test statistics with the help of the SPSS application. The result was effectiveness of implementing the learning model, with the difference in academic achievement results for writing skills of 12.26, the results of t -4.801, and the results of significance sig. (2-tailed), namely p-value = 0.000 > ɑ (0.05), which indicates that hypothesis H0 is rejected and hypothesis H1 is accepted.

Implementasi Project Based Learning dalam Pembelajaran Abad 21 pada Mata Kuliah Kesehatan Perempuan dan Perencanaan Keluarga

Education in Indonesia is experiencing development, students are required to compete in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 in the 21st century to be able to improve their abilities, namely collaboration, communication, creative and critical thinking and problem solving skills. So an effort is needed that can be applied to learning activities and one of them is through the application of the Project Based Learning learning model. This project-based learning is a learning strategy that empowers students to gain knowledge and understanding. The aim of this research is to increase student creativity through project-based learning to create teaching media to introduce the female reproductive organs and their functions. Classroom action research research design. The population of this research is all students taking women's health and family planning courses for the 2022-2023 academic year with a sample size of 13 odd semester (three) students. The data collection technique looks at activity during the lecture process and monitors the progress of projects carried out by students using observation assisted by instruments, namely written tests, performance tests and observation sheets. The results show an increase in learning outcomes in the category of students' thinking skills and creativity, which can be seen from the students' enthusiasm in completing the Teaching Aids for Introduction to Female Reproductive Organs project as well as presenting and publishing the results of their work. So it can be concluded that the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model can improve the learning outcomes of thinking skills and creativity of students at the Tahirah Al Baeti Bulukumba Midwifery Academy for the 2022/2023 Academic Year.

Pola Konsumsi Berita dalam Era Digital: Perbandingan Preferensi Generasi Z Terhadap Sumber Berita Tradisional dan Modern

People interaction has changed along with internet development. Digital news (internet-based) is beginning to alter classical ones. The development of social media and other digital platforms is a result of the Internet development. Reading comprehension and audience skills are undoubtedly impacted by this, particularly for Generation Z because of shifting preferences for news-based-content consumption. By comparing Generation Z's preferences for classical and digital news sources, this study aims to comprehend the trends of news consumption in the digital age. This study used a quantitative approach using a descriptive methodology by employing a valid and reliable questionnaire to collect data that were then randomly distributed to 85 communication science students in semesters 2, 4, 6, and 8. The study's findings explain why communication science students do not vary significantly from other Generation Z students in terms of their preferences for news sources or how they consume them. However, since they study communication science, they are more astute when consuming news from contemporary sources that often include false information or aren't grounded in reality.

El cuerpo vestido como construcción de identidades latinoamericanas a partir de lo monstruoso. Un enfoque decolonial para la enseñanza de la moda

This research analyzes and questions fashion and its respective teaching from a colonial matrix, constantly constructed from the body as a place of use, representation and construction of fashion and its imaginaries. In this way, learning exercises in fashion are traditionally based on the recognition of the anatomical-ergonomic of the body in direct relation to the needs of the hegemonic industry, which imposes its narratives and canons. Thanks to the decolonial foundation of the Professional Program in Fashion of the Universidad Santo Tomás and through its modular project, the approach to the body is proposed from the monstrous as a place of the possibilities of creation, which allows exploring other dimensions of representation and body construction. Derived from the above, eight projects are developed conceptually and materially in the period 2024-1 as part of Module 1: design and identities that covers the first and second semester of the course, where it is built, based on the reflections on identity, a narrative that challenges and deconstructs the hegemonic imaginaries that fashion has imposed on certain corporealities and corporealities. This in order to broaden the spectrum of fashion to a plurality of representations and that first semester students at the beginning of their specific training in fashion, led from the costume and clothing workshop I, are able to propose from the problematization and exploration of historically marginalized imaginaries.

Students’ Experience of Online Interpreting Learning with Native Speakers

Interpreting is one of the skills that is very necessary in global communication. The use of digital technology and web-based technology in interpreting classes has been widely used in Indonesia, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. Learning interpreting is very challenging, especially directly with native speakers and done using e-learning. This research aims to describe the experience of online interpreting learning with native speakers from the student's perspective regarding the problems and advantages of this learning method. This research was qualitative in nature, involving all sixth semester students in the English Literature study program who took Interpreting Workshop course totaling 25 students. Data were obtained through observation and questionnaires. The finding of the study shows learning interpreting online with native speaker has several advantages as well as it has less psychological impact. It is hoped that after finding problems, solutions can be found to overcome these problems and utilize the advantages of this learning method to maximize learning outcomes.

Efektivitas Metode Resitasi Terhadap Hasil Belajar Matematika Siswa Kelas VIII Mtsn 4 Bojonegoro

Mathematics learning in MTsN 4 Bojonegoro is less effective, especially on the subject of circles. This is because in the learning process they still use conventional methods or lectures. So that this study is based on the researcher's interest in applying the recitation method to the learning process in MTsN 4 Bojonegoro. The problem in this study is: which is more effective between learning with the recitation method or conventional learning on the mathematics learning outcomes of grade VIII students on the subject of the MTsN 4 Bojonegoro circle for the 2023/2024 academic year. This research aims to find out: the effectiveness of the recitation method on learning outcomes mathematics for class VIII students on the subject of the MTsN 4 Bojonegoro circle for the 2023/2024 academic year. The population of this study were class VIII students in semester 2 of MTsN 4 Bojonegoro who were divided into seven classes. Sampling was carried out using a cluster random sampling technique, class VIII A students were obtained as the experimental class, while the control class was class VIII D. In the experimental group learning used the recitation method, while the control group used the conventional method (lecture).
