School evasion at eetepa Dr Celso Malcher in the computer technical course in the subsequent evening mode

This study aims to identify the causes and motivations of school dropout in the subsequent evening technical course in IT at EETEPA Dr. Celso Malcher. In the investigation process, the issue regarding the factors that led students to drop out of the School, based on the problem: how the Dr. Celso Malcher school presents itself in the scenario of the phenomenon of school dropout in relation to the technical course in IT in the subsequent modality ? A case study was used with data collection through questionnaires applied to frequent and dropped out students between 2022/1 and 2023/1. The study had two fronts: a literature review on school dropout and practical research to understand students' perceptions. The approach was quantitative-qualitative, focusing on factors such as distance, safety, need to work, and difficulties with the education system. The results are at the threshold of the objectives and problem researched: implications with the distance from the institution; issues related to security, risk of violence and difficulty in transportation, among others.

EVASÃO DOS ESTUDANTES DA EDUCAÇÃO DE JOVENS E ADULTOS NOS ANOS FINAIS DO ENSINO FUNDAMENTAL.

The present dissertation deals with “Evasion of students from youth and adult education in the final years of elementary school. School evasion and dropout are problems that are present in several discussions in relation to secondary education and mainly referring to the modality of youth and adult education, since the course is carried out in a short period of time. Dropping out of school is a phenomenon that takes thousands of students out of school who may become future excluded from society and the job market. Data from such materials supported the study on the subject. Thus, the main objective of the research seeks to analyze the causes of evasion in the final stages of Elementary Education in the EJA modality. For that, an exploratory research of a qualitative nature was used. The studies carried out made it possible to reflect on these causes, as well as to make it possible to reflect on the adoption of actions that make it possible to combat dropout and school dropout in the classroom.

Educational practices through information and communication technologies: integration between active methodologies

Improving the academic and professional background of people from varied levels make us rethink about the role of formal teaching strategies, considering that even today deficencies are displayd in learning environments. In its most noticeable phase, the traditional teaching is highly associated with school evasion, pragmatic learning and students’ discouragement to learn. There are several pedagogic recommendations made to the teachers in order to reverse this situation, but there are not many practical alternatives presented. Given the current context, this article aims at describing the integration between two active methodologies: Just in Time Teaching (JiTT) and Peer Instruction (PI), and the goal is to promote the potencial of both in the teaching and learning process. These methodologies make use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to their own functionality. But for that purpose, a sistematic review on integration between these methodologies was made in this research, being held at the database of SciELO, Scopus and Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations, in the period 2015-2020. There have been found 311 articles and 1,663 theses/dissertations and, among all, 22 studies were selected, including national and international. The results have showed that the integration between active methodologies improved the students’ performances, considering their learning, development, autonomy to carry out studies, interactivity in search for learning, team work and proactivity; becoming protagonists of their own learning process.

Teaching performance outside the training area: failure to comply with law and its impacts on the teaching process

The research addresses the teaching performance outside the training area, so the problem that guided the research came from the following question: what are the impacts of the performance of teachers in areas where they are not qualified in the students' learning? With the general objective of analyzing the teaching performance outside their area of ​​training and its implications in the teaching-learning process. In this perspective, the methodological approach of the research is bibliographic, with a qualitative nature, based on theorists who study this theme, in addition to normative documents such as the Law of Guidelines and Bases of Education – LDB/1996. The study is justified by presenting new critical and theoretical approaches regarding the teacher and adequate training for the areas of activity. There are numerous challenges that even lead to evasion of the teaching career. In addition, as a consequence of this reality, professors are allocated to teach subjects outside their training area, which has a negative impact on both the teaching-learning process and the quality of education. Therefore, the result of this study highlights the importance of adequacy in the teaching performance in the formative bias and in compliance with the law, since this legal breach has negative consequences for the quality of education, even harming the guarantee of access to education in an adequate way, caused lag, repetition and even school evasion, in addition to the various social problems that arise from this. Therefore, it is consistent that teachers act in their training area, in accordance with legal requirements, obeying the requirements in their training process, as well as continuous training, giving a new meaning to teaching knowledge and practices.

THE THIN LINE BETWEEN MOTHERHOOD AND SCHOOL EVASION

RESUMO A interrupção dos estudos é a realidade de grande parcela de jovens brasileiras que vivenciam a maternidade durante o período escolar. A presente pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar os mecanismos que as instituições de ensino utilizam para apoiar ou dificultar os estudos de jovens mães a partir da perspectiva de alunas e ex-alunas adolescentes e jovens adultas do Distrito Federal. Foram realizadas seis entrevistas individuais semiestruturadas com adolescentes e jovens mulheres, entre 17 e 30 anos, que vivenciaram/vivenciam a maternidade durante os estudos. Foi utilizada a análise de conteúdo temática para a interpretação das informações. O artigo focaliza a primeira categoria analítica construída. A partir da análise, foi possível compreender que o fenômeno da evasão escolar é sustentado por bases históricas e culturais relacionadas a concepções sexistas acerca das normas binárias de gênero que não contemplam a diversidade de vivências das mulheres em relação à maternidade e à própria feminilidade.

EVASÃO ESCOLAR OU EXPULSÃO: POR QUE ALUNAS-MÃES ABANDONAM A ESCOLA?

ABSTRACT This article problematizes the judicialization effects of dropout in the lives of student-mothers cited in legal proceedings for intellectual abandonment, filed in a region in the south of Paraná, in 2018. It uses Foucauldian studies of gender and race inequality as a theoretical contribution. The data sources are the School Evasion Questionnaire and data from school transcripts and enrollments, undertaking an intersectional analysis of the social markers of race and gender. The results found indicate a course of failures and dropouts prior to motherhood and the judicialization of school dropout, hiding a long process of school failure, which resulted in expulsion. Judicial processes reinforce the displacement of biopolicies for pregnant students and those with children, producing gender and racial inequality in the school space, and highlight the fragility of public policies that guarantee, in fact, the right to education for students-mothers.

A LINHA TÊNUE ENTRE MATERNIDADE E EVASÃO ESCOLAR

ABSTRACT The need to interrupt their studies is the reality for a large number of young Brazilian women who experience motherhood during their school years. This research aimed to analyze the mechanisms used by educational institutions from the perspective of students and former students, teenagers, and young adults in the Federal District. Such mechanisms can be used use to support or hinder the studies of young mothers. Six semi-structured individual interviews were carried out with adolescents and young women, between 17 and 30 years old, who experienced motherhood during their studies. Thematic content analysis was used to interpret the information. The article focuses on the first analytical category constructed. From the analysis, it was possible to understand that the phenomenon of school evasion is supported by historical and cultural biases related to sexist conceptions about binary gender norms that do not contemplate the diversity of women’s experiences regarding motherhood and femininity itself.

School transportation program as means to improve public education in a minor rural town in Northeastern Brazil

Abstract School transportation is crucial for access and permanence of students at school, in rural areas. The Brazilian government has funded school transport programs to support municipalities. This research aims to analyze if these programs are perceived as effective in small rural municipalities. Seeking this objective, a survey was carried out among students and teachers. Quantitative and qualitative analyses were conducted to test the results. In the quantitative analysis, it is observed that the majority of students are very pleased, being regularity/punctuality the best-evaluated criterion. Teachers believe punctuality has improved, school evasion has decreased, and school performance has increased. In a combined analysis, the evaluations carried out by teachers regarding school evasion and performance presents a significant relationship with regularity/punctuality assessed by students. In the qualitative analysis, a grouping of ideas highlighted comfort, safety, civility and punctuality as positive, while most-cited negative points were overcrowding, lack of organization and discomfort.

Evasão escolar: possibilidades de intervenção do Conselho Escolar no contexto da pandemia

Resumo
 Este presente artigo propõe analisar a evasão dos jovens frente às ações do conselho escolar e para isto realizamos um estudo de caso em uma escola da rede municipal do Recife. O conselho escolar como um instrumento de gestão democrática, faz parte do coletivo da instituição de ensino, vivenciando várias situações, inclusive a evasão dos jovens. Esse órgão colegiado é composto por membros de todos os segmentos da escola, sendo seus encaminhamentos reflexos de decisões coletivas. A pesquisa se utilizou da abordagem qualitativa, a coleta de dados foram através de observações na rotina e entrevista semiestruturada com representantes do colegiado e da comunidade escolar. Os dados obtidos foram analisados através da análise de conteúdo de Bardin (2004). O resultado apontou que o conselho escolar possui sua funcionabilidade fragilizada, pois falta um maior engajamento dos seus membros, principalmente no que se refere às tomadas de decisões coletivamente, que visem priorizar o que é essencial ao bom andamento da escola.

Does Bullying Affect the School Performance of Brazilian Students? An Analysis Using Pisa 2015

The present study aims to analyze the impact of the different dimensions of bullying (physical, psychological and indirect) on the school performance of Brazilian students. For this analysis, data from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) from the year of 2015 were used. The methodology applied was the Propensity Score Matching (PSM), the Inverse Probability-Weighted Regression-Adjustment (IPWRA) and the categorical multivalued treatment known as Generalized Propensity Score (GPS). The results show that physical bullying (being spanked and having belongings destroyed) is harmful for the students’ academic performance. Psychological bullying (having gossip spread, being made fun of, and being threatened), however, did not negatively impact the grades. When considering the frequency (weekly, monthly, or annual) of bullying in the model, it is observed that, among the different dimensions of aggression, the effect on the grades of Brazilian students is both increasing and negative. Bullying causes several consequences to students in addition to the decrease of school performance since it can result in school evasion and sometimes difficulties in the labor market. Thus, studying this phenomenon, by means of school behavior, is an important subject for the society.

Rolê no IF: um aplicativo em favor da inclusão e contra a evasão no Ensino Médio Integrado

Documentos institucionais comprovam que uma das causas de evasão no Ensino Médio Integrado (EMI) do Instituto Federal do Sudeste de Minas Gerais – Campus Rio Pomba é a falta de conhecimento sobre a identidade dos cursos da referida modalidade. Partindo deste fato, o presente estudo buscou validar a hipótese de que um aplicativo para dispositivos móveis voltado a alunos em potencial seria um aliado do Campus Rio Pomba na prevenção da evasão escolar. Tal pressuposto baseia-se na ideia de que, ao dialogar com as especificidades da faixa etária e promover o conhecimento sobre os cursos, o app favoreceria o engajamento e a inclusão antecipada dos adolescentes a quem o EMI se destina. Assim, o método de validação foi composto por revisão bibliográfica, estudo de experiências educacionais recentes com uso de tecnologia, além de resultados de entrevistas com estudantes adolescentes internos e externos ao Instituto Federal em questão. Confirmou-se, assim, o potencial deste tipo de produto educacional, conclusão que levou ao desenvolvimento de uma proposta de protótipo de aplicativo. Nele, são encontradas informações curriculares, imagens, vídeos e informações identitárias do EMI, além de recurso de interação entre público externo e alunos que já ingressaram na instituição. Acredita-se que a comunicação e a tecnologia são capazes de prevenir a evasão escolar e promover a aproximação entre o Campus Rio Pomba e adolescentes público-alvo da Educação Profissional e Tecnológica (EPT), ao incluir estes últimos precocemente no universo institucional e permitir maior criticidade e reflexão quanto a que curso escolher.

THE CAUSES OF SCHOOL EVASION IN A PRIVATE HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION: CASE STUDY

The objective of this research was to identify the causes that motivated the students to evade the courses of a private Higher-Education Institution - IES, in the city of Porto Velho-RO. It was intended to raise the number of students evaded by periods and courses in recent years to assess the impact of school evasion on HEI management decisions. To obtain results, we used the interpretation of data obtained through quantitative and qualitative research, questionnaires and interviews.

Política de estágio da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso e a transição escola-trabalho

A transição escola-trabalho é uma preocupação cada vez maior de diversos governos no mundo, isso por que os maiores índices de desemprego em geral estão associados com o público jovem, ademais, a forma como essa transição ocorre pode determinar a condição social do indivíduo ao longo da vida. Nessa perspectiva, este estudo realizou uma análise das políticas de estágio, nos cursos de engenharia da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso, sobre a ótica do processo de transição escola-trabalho. Para tanto, foi realizada uma análise documental dos projetos pedagógicos de curso. Os resultados demonstram que vários cursos possuem restrições que impedem a realização de estágio nos períodos iniciais, fato que pode favorecer a evasão escolar, assim como, amplia a dificuldade de estudantes em situação de vulnerabilidade econômica de acenderem no nível acadêmico.

Fluxo escolar de alunos com deficiência em um município: o que revelam os dados oficiais

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi analisar o fluxo escolar dos alunos com deficiência em um município do interior paulista. Para isso, foi realizado um levantamento dos dados oficiais do município divulgados no Censo Demográfico de 2010. Em seguida, analisaram-se os Microdados de Censo da Educação Básica, disponibilizados pelo Instituto Nacional de Estudos e Pesquisas Educacional Anísio Teixeira (INEP), do Ministério da Educação, referentes às matrículas de alunos com deficiência entre 2007 a 2011. Desde 2003, o Ministério da Educação mantém o Programa “Educação Inclusiva: Direito à Diversidade”, que visa a transformar os sistemas educacionais em inclusivos, por meio de formação – promovida por um município polo aos municípios que compõem sua área de abrangência – oferecida a gestores e educadores. A escolha do município teve dois critérios: pertencer à região de abrangência do município-polo de São Carlos e apresentar o menor Índice de Desenvolvimento Humano (IDH) dentre os municípios da abrangência. Os resultados mostram que grande parte dos alunos com deficiência no município apresenta o fluxo escolar interrompido. Com relação à implementação do Programa “Educação Inclusiva: Direito à Diversidade” e seus desdobramentos no município, fica claro que seu objetivo não foi efetivado, pois não conseguiu reverter os altos índices de defasagem idade-série, repetência e evasão escolar.

Saberes locais sobre formação de jovens em vulnerabilidade social na região de M’Boi Mirim e proximidades

Resumo Esta pesquisa toma a educação como eixo privilegiado para o enfrentamento da vulnerabilidade social juvenil na região de M’Boi Mirim e proximidades. Por meio de entrevistas qualitativas, foram ouvidos educadores, diretores e gestores locais, de escolas (15 e um EJA) e equipamentos de formação complementar (3 centros de juventude). As escolas investigadas mostram dificuldade no enfrentamento dos desafios lá vividos: sobrecarregadas na função social assumida, vivem problemas de diversos tipos, desde restrições financeiras, inconstância do corpo docente, evasão escolar, violência dentro e fora do meio escolar, e dificuldade de tornar a escola um lugar inclusivo e plural. Há, porém, escolas, centros de juventude e educadores locais que têm desenvolvido estratégias fecundas para o enfrentamento da vulnerabilidade social juvenil, criando dispositivos de não discriminação, espaços de diálogo e de respeito compartilhado e abrindo seus portões para o convívio regular e cotidiano com o entorno, entre outras ações.

School Dropout of Immigrant Students in the European School Systems: a Pedagogic Perspective

In recent years, many scholars have highlighted persistent difficulties faced by the European school systems to contest school dropout of immigrant students (dropouts, delays, grade retention, school evasion etc.). As noted by the Council of Europe, with regard to immigrant students the average rate of school dropout in the UE is double that native pupils. Considering this situation, the objective of the paper is, on the one hand, to identify the factors that contributed to increase a similar failure and, on the other hand, to understand how Europe is trying to reduce this phenomenon. In particular, my attempt is to explain what are the educational measures and strategies adopted by UE school systems not only to clash this phenomenon, but also to achieve the ambitious target, set by the European Commission in 2015, for reducing to below 10% the percentage of school dropout by 2020.Keywords: school dropout, immigrant students, Europe, school policies, integration, language skills

Evasão e abandono escolar na educação básica no Brasil: fatores, causas e possíveis consequências

Neste artigo, objetivou-se trazer para o debate algumas considerações sobre evasão e abandono escolar na educação brasileira. Verifica-se a necessidade de ter como eixo a compreensão de suas dimensionalidades, pois suas formas de interpretação não permitem chegar a uma definição precisa. Os próprios órgãos oficiais da educação trazem à tona a falta de conceito claro. Fatores internos e externos contribuem diretamente para que a evasão e o abandono se perpetuem. O Brasil tem a terceira maior taxa de abandono escolar entre os 100 países com maior IDH. A evasão é um processo muito complexo, dinâmico e cumulativo de saída do estudante e pode ser vista como expulsão escolar. As metas estipuladas pela Constituição Federal de 1988, que determinam a universalização do ensino fundamental e a “erradicação” do analfabetismo, ainda não se concretizaram. A “evasão” pode ser considerada um “ato solitário” e pode denotar o próprio fracasso das relações sociais; não tem uma origem definida e por isso não terá um fim por si só. Drogas, sucessivas reprovações, prostituição, falta de incentivo da família e da escola são alguns dos fatores que podem levar o educando a sair da escola. Observa-se que existem três dimensões conceituais indispensáveis à investigação da evasão escolar.

Neste relato de experiencia, mostramos um processo de ambientacao realizado com discentes ingressantes dos cursos tecnicos e de tecnologia do campus Geraldo Werninghaus de Jaragua do Sul do Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina.

Demographic-socioeconomic profile and sexual behavior of pregnant adolescents in a city in northeastern Brazil

Adolescence pregnancy pictures the interaction between the exertion of sexuality and the reproductive life, as a process influenced by the historical and social context of the embedded person. This study aims to portray the demographic and socioeconomic profile and the sexual behavior of pregnant teenagers. It is a cross-sectional study accomplished at Family Health Units in a Brazilian northeast city. Participated in the study 50 adolescents between 13 and 19 years of age. It was adopted a survey with open and closed ended questions. Among the adolescents menarche occurred at an average of 11.68 years of age (pd = 1.3); 48% of them had their first sexual intercourse before 16 years-old (group average = 14.30 – dp = 1.71); the majority were primigravidae; abstained from alcohol ingestion during the gestational period and did not use birth-control methods; 98% had low family income. The pregnancy was a reason for school evasion. The knowledge of birth-control methods was not an impedible factor to the early pregnancy. The appropriation of the guideline for birth control has become one of the biggest difficulties in the basic health basic system to avoid unplanned pregnancy. In this situational context, there are sociocultural, political and economic factors involved.
