However, based on the results of research conducted in several Islamic boarding schools in Bogor, we do not fully understand the stages of quality assurance. Several existing Islamic boarding schools have a quality assurance team but they are not the oldest in the organizational structure. This means that the human resources appointed as the quality assurance team include but are not legally formalized in a decision letter, this means that the Islamic boarding school implements quality assurance components but is not implemented administratively. This research aims to first, analyze the need for developing an internal quality assurance system model in Islamic boarding schools. Second, to develop an internal quality assurance system model in Islamic boarding schools. Third, to test the feasibility of the internal quality assurance system model in Islamic boarding schools. The research uses the Research and Development method, using the ADDIE model. The results of the research findings showed that the analysis of the need for developing an internal quality assurance system in Islamic boarding schools was carried out in the first two stages of the field needs analysis consisting of 9 Islamic boarding schools with 11 respondents. The conclusion was that 100% of respondents needed an internal quality assurance system model for Islamic boarding schools to guarantee the quality of education. boarding school. Technological advancements and social changes necessitate innovation in Indonesia's education system, including madrasas. This study focuses on the branding strategies employed by MA NU Sunan Giri Prigen in Pasuruan Regency to enhance its competitiveness. Utilizing qualitative methods through literature review and interviews, the research explores how MA NU Sunan Giri Prigen develops a strong identity, emphasizes core values, builds community relationships, and leverages social media and technology to strengthen its school brand.The findings indicate that MA NU Sunan Giri Prigen successfully establishes a strong brand identity through consistent use of logos, slogans, and school colors, while highlighting academic and non-academic excellence. The school actively participates in social activities and collaborates with the local community to reinforce its image as a quality educational institution relevant to the job market. This effective branding strategy has proven to enhance the school's reputation, attract new students, and strengthen alumni loyalty, enabling MA NU Sunan Giri Prigen to remain competitive in the increasingly challenging educational landscape.

Analisis Aspek-Aspek Keunggulan Daya Saing dalam Meningkatkan Kualitas Pendidikan di SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal

A superior school is a school that is able to bring every student to achieve their abilities in a measurable manner and can be demonstrated through their achievements. The background to writing this research is the demand for quality educational institutions which will be able to create schools that have competitive advantages. The aim of the research is to analyze aspects of competitive advantage that have been implemented at SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal in improving the quality of education. This research uses a descriptive method with a qualitative approach. Data was obtained through in-depth interviews with school principals, teachers, classroom observations, documentation, academic journals, books, articles and relevant research reports. Respondents consisted of the Principal, Deputy Principal, teachers and also staff at SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal. The results of this research show three things: first; SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal prepares for competitiveness in the 5.0 era; second; form aspects of competitive advantage at SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal; third; strategic concepts and approaches in improving the quality of education at SDI Al-Akbar Bangsal. Based on the research results, there are still limitations, namely the number of respondents is still small and there is only one SDI Al-Akbar institution so there is a lack of comparison with other institutions. It is recommended for future researchers to take more sample, this aims to have better data accuracy in their research. Researchers also recommend to institutions to always improve quality by always evaluating the superior aspects of SDI Al-Akbar.

Ethical underpinnings and social work: a case study on the role of Buddhist compassion in Cambodian sustainable development

ABSTRACT This preliminary study explores the role of Buddhist compassion-based practices within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework focusing on a Theravada Buddhist Pagoda in Siem Reap Cambodia. Employing a grounded theory approach within a triangulated methodology, data was analyzed from over 30 participant observations and 12 in-depth interviews with local religious leaders, non-governmental organization (NGO) leaders and, community members. Findings suggest that Buddhist ethical principles significantly impact Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to Good Health and Well-being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), Reduced Inequalities (SDG 10), and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), notably improving community health and educational outcomes. The study examines the complex interactions between Buddhist practices, sustainable development, geopolitical challenges, and educational and social welfare in monasteries illustrating their integration into Cambodia’s socio-political context. The Cambodian political system, characterized by its constitutional monarchy and single-party dominance, directly influences the integration of religious practices into public policy highlighting the intersection of politics and religion in shaping development outcomes. Additionally, this study highlights the challenges of aligning donor expectations with authentic compassionate actions and stresses the need for integrity and authenticity in humanitarian efforts. The integration of Buddhist compassion into development strategies fosters inclusive community development and enriches the global dialogue on sustainable development suggesting a culturally coherent and geopolitically informed approach. This preliminary research highlights the influence of religious ethics in shaping development strategies in the “Global South” and recommends further investigation into their applicability across other regions facing similar challenges.

The study also reveals the efficacy of integrating strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and a balance of academic excellence and character development in enhancing educational quality. Despite its comprehensive nature, the research acknowledges limitations in its scope, primarily its reliance on existing literature, which may not encompass all possible educational contexts. Future research should explore diverse educational settings further and assess the long-term impacts of quality assurance strategies on student outcomes and Islamic institutional reputation. This study significantly contributes to the discourse on educational quality assurance, advocating for comprehensive, adaptable, and inclusive strategies in response to the evolving demands of the educational landscape.

The role of higher education and institutional quality for carbon neutrality: Evidence from emerging economies

Economic development is frequently held accountable for environmental degradation, a situation that is particularly dire in E-7 economies. This problem is further exacerbated by inadequate education on its repercussions. Previous studies have explored various socioeconomic determinants of CO2 emissions, but the effects of education and institutional quality remain underexplored. Using data from 1995 to 2020 for E-7 economies, this study fills the gap by investigating the link between higher education, institutional quality, and CO2 emissions, factoring in R&D's role. Our findings reveal that better education and improved institutional quality significantly decrease emissions, a trend most pronounced in countries with stronger institutions. Interestingly, the role of R&D in emissions diverges based on institutional quality, showing a positive correlation in countries with lower and a negative correlation in higher institutional quality. The findings highlight the significance of quality education and robust institutions for carbon mitigation, offering critical insights for future sustainability research.

Quality human resources are becoming crucial in an era of globalization. Quality human resources are produced by quality educational institutions and led by the head of the madrasah, which consistently improves the quality of madrasas. Therefore, to improve the quality of the madrasah, it is necessary to build a culture of quality. Leadership plays an important role in shaping a solid madrasa culture of quality. Based on the above considerations, the study aims to (1) describe the leadership style of the Madrasa in developing a quality madrasa culture, (2) describe the leadership steps of the head of the madrasas in the development of a quality madrasah culture, (3) describe a cultural reality of the quality of Madrasa, (4) explain the efforts of the leader of the Madrasa in removing resistance to the quality culture development. This type of research is field research with a qualitative approach using case studies and data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observations of participants, and documentation. Analysis of research results shows that (1) the main madrasa style in developing a quality culture has five leadership styles: charismatic, democratic, participatory, deliberative, and aggressive. It's adapted to the situation and conditions. (2) Leadership steps in developing a culture of quality madrasa: (a) the head of the Madrasa articulates the vision and mission of impact on improving the quality culture of Madrasa. (b) The head of the Madrasa has the values of leadership that are believed to be translated into the life of the organization of the madrasas. (c) the symbol is a description of the organizational values that rained and preserved and reflect the uniqueness of the Madrasas; (d) the process of development of a quality culture passes through four stages, namely the preparation phase, the acceptance phases, the implementation phases and the commitment phases. (3) The cultural reality of the quality of MAN Lamongan is related to the values of the institution and the leadership of the head of the Madrasa in promoting relations with the staff. (4) The individual teacher's resistance exists in developing a culture of madrasa-quality. The head of the Madrasa's efforts in dealing with the resistance of the people of Madrasa used a preventive and healing approach.

Improving the quality of Geography Teacher Education through Geographical Information Systems and Self-Directed Learning

Quality education in institutions of higher learning is vital in the contemporary world. Although some studies have been conducted on quality education in higher education, no study has focused on the enhancement of quality education through the inclusion of geographical information systems (GIS) as a tool and self-directed learning (SDL) skills in geography teachers’ education where Dewey’s theory of education was applied. This study applies a systematic review to examine the connectivity between teaching through GIS and the enhancement of SDL skills in geography teachers’ education. The study also discusses how the inclusion of GIS and SDL skills in geography teachers’ education at university helps to enhance quality education. Results of studies indicate that there is a connection between GIS, SDL, and the enhancement of quality education in geography teachers’ education. The study thus recommends that GIS and SDL skills should be included in teacher education for student teachers to be productive in society.

Strategi Pengembangan Madrasah Aliyah Untuk Mencapai Kategori Sekolah Unggul

Madrasas have a dual role, namely as a place to gain knowledge and form the character of akhlakul karimah. Madrasas also remain in the main challenge to always improve quality institutionally through developing madrasas into quality educational institutions. This study seeks to describe the implementation of quality development strategies at MAN 1 Ciamis and MAN 2 Ciamis. The study used a qualitative descriptive method with the research subjects being the Head of Madrasah, Deputy Head of Madrasah, Teachers, and Students. To obtain data used techniques of observation, interviews, and documentation studies. The collected data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, drawing conclusions, and triangulation. The results of the study show that the implementation of the development strategy carried out by MAN 1 Ciamis and MAN 2 Ciamis are: 1) development of superior programs according to the characteristics of madrasas; 2) student program by selecting the acceptance of new students and the development of talent interests; 3) human resource development program with attention to HR recruitment and competency development through training; 4) infrastructure development program to support learning activities.

To achieve this, it continues to be carried out by implementing the boarding school education system, as the flagship program of madrasas.This research is a field research (filed research) which is descriptive qualitative in nature, with the goal to be achieved by researchers is a factual description by collecting data used through observation, interviews, and documentation, triangulation, member checks and field notes. While the results of this study show that: 1) the boarding school education system in improving the quality of education in terms of planning, implementation and evaluation. All of which have been included in the madrasah work program plan. Such as planning goals, and preparing boarding school learning programs. From the implementation it has been running well, each foster parent has implemented a boarding school education system in accordance with a predetermined program plan. Then from the evaluation it focuses more on supervision which is carried out periodically, as an indicator of implementation. 2) the obstacles that occur in the implementation of the boarding school education system can be seen from internal and external factors, namely the lack of interest and willingness of students to stay in boarding schools, lazy to study independently. From the external factors themselves, there are environmental influences and bad associations. 3) the efforts made in overcoming obstacles in the implementation of the boarding education system are by making students socialize with good people from a good environment, guiding students in changing bad habits, taking a personal approach to students who are lazy to study. If all of this can be done, it is inevitable that students will rise and have the enthusiasm to learn, then the boarding school education system at MAN 2 Serang City will run according to the expectations of the madrasa, teachers and parents of students.

The results of this study are researchers analyzing how the integrated quality management process works with TOM, to understand how SMK Negeri 3 Malang seeks to apply the principle of providing customer satisfaction, what are the special programs at SMK Negeri 3 Malang as a form of optimal service, and superior accreditation as a form of principle continuous institutional improvement at SMK Negeri 3 Malang, which illustrates that the implementation of integrated quality management in SMK education institutions in early childhood is very necessary in supporting continuous improvement.

The results of this study indicate that the analysis of the needs for educational facilities and infrastructure is carried out in the planning process and analysis related to the needs for facilities and infrastructure in learning, financing analysis is carried out to meet the needs for purchasing facilities and infrastructure using reasonable funds according to needs, Procurement of educational facilities and infrastructure in accordance with the needs of the ongoing learning process, maintenance of educational facilities is a shared responsibility by all school members, facilities and infrastructure that are not used during the learning process still require maintenance without damaging the quality of these facilities. The conclusion of this study is that the factors that support the inventory of educational facilities and infrastructure include cooperation and adequate facilities so that the obstacle is the inventory of educational facilities and infrastructure is the low number of goods and human resources.
