Application of Topsis Method in Decision Support System Selection of Undergraduate Scholarship Recipients

The procurement of scholarship programs is one of the efforts made by the government, companies, or foundations to help individuals for the ongoing education that is being pursued, one of which is in the world of education such as STMIK Pelita Nusantara, where the campus is under the auspices of the Democrat Cemerlang Foundation, a foundation that participate in the provision of scholarship programs, both underprivileged scholarships and merit scholarships. In granting scholarships, many things must be considered so that the right decisions are made, namely the best students who meet the requirements and criteria that have been set and are not subjective. so far pthe campus is experiencing difficulties because there are many students who graduate each year while there are many conditions that must be considered, so faster, more precise and accurate steps are needed to help the campus determine students who are eligible to receive the scholarship.In this study, the TOPSIS method will be applied to select undergraduate scholarship recipients. The method was chosen because TOPSIS is a method whose basic concept is that the best alternative is the alternative that has the closest distance from the positive ideal solution and has the farthest distance from the negative ideal solution from the point of view ofgeometrically using Eucledian distance to determine the relative proximity of an alternative to the optimal solution. The results obtained in this study are that the TOPSIS method using 5 criteria can be applied in the selection of undergraduate scholarship recipients, where 2 out of 5 alternatives have the highest score of 0.657659 as well as scholarship recipients.

Review of NCOA Evidence Based Fall Prevention Strategies for the Home Health Setting

<h3>Objective(s)</h3> To evaluate the effectiveness of National Council on Aging (NCOA) evidence based fall prevention programs that can be completed in the home setting. <h3>Data Sources</h3> We conducted searches of PEDRo, CINAHL, PubMed and Scopus using combinations of the following search terms: fall prevention, community, intervention, exercise, physical therapy, evidence based, home. <h3>Study Selection</h3> Criteria were chosen to capture all studies that included NCOA fall prevention programs that can be implemented in the home setting. Inclusion criteria identified studies from peer-reviewed journals including NCOA fall prevention programs with elements allowing for individualized training and implementation. Studies with only community based, group provision were excluded. <h3>Data Extraction</h3> For articles included in this review, the following information was extracted: type of study, methodological quality review, level of evidence, number of subjects, outcome measures used, interventions, primary positive and negative results, and setting. <h3>Data Synthesis</h3> Four NCOA evidence based fall prevention programs were identified as appropriate to be provided in the home setting: CAPABLE, FallScape, FallsTalk and the Otago Exercise Program. Data extracted from included articles demonstrated improvements with falls efficacy, reduction in the number of falls, and increased recognition of fall risk. <h3>Conclusions</h3> Falls are a concern for older adults with expensive medical care and a loss of independence for the individual. With our analysis, 4 NCOA programs can be reasonably provided in the home setting. Only one program (CAPABLE) is specifically designed to be implemented in the home setting. While there is strong evidence of the effectiveness of these programs, more work is recommended to determine the best practices for provision of home programs. Entrepreneurship Education in Higher Education of Selected Countries

Due to the vital role of entrepreneurship, many efforts have been made to improve and promote it, the most important of which is the provision of entrepreneurship education programs in universities and educational institutions in different countries of the world. By studying the experiences of other countries, a proposed model for entrepreneurship education in Iran can be reached. The purpose of this research was to study of entrepreneurship education in higher education in selected countries comparatively. The research questions edited to considering types entrepreneurship education in terms of location, structure and trainers of entrepreneurship education. The method of the present study was a qualitative adaptation based on the use of a four-stage Bereday’s approach. The statistical population included different countries of the world and statistical sample consisted of several countries such as United States, Germany, Netherland, Philippine & Australia that were selected through purposive sampling. The method of data collection was documented and the validity of documents was assessed through internal evaluation (content accuracy) and external evaluation (document accuracy). Qualitative content analysis method was used to analyze the data. The findings showed that entrepreneurship education in all five countries studied is done more in the educational environment than in the workplace. In terms of types of educators (field specialists, entrepreneurship specialists and in combination), the highest similarity was between the United States, Philippine and Germany, and the Netherland and Australia were different from the other three countries. In terms of structure (single course, course and certification), the similarities were more in the form of single course and course. According to the findings, the appropriate model of entrepreneurship education in higher education in Iran can be used as a model for compiling courses (in the form of discipline, orientation, interdisciplinary and integrated) in all educational fields (Humanities, Engineering, Basic Sciences, Art and Medicine) or be formulated as an entrepreneurial university.

Impact of the community eligibility provision program on school meal participation in Texas.

To estimate the impact of opting into the community eligibility provision (CEP) on school meal participation among students in Texas. A quasi-experimental design using a two-way fixed effects panel difference-in-difference model and the variation in adoption timing to estimate the impact of opting into CEP on student breakfast and lunch participation in eligible, ever-adopting schools. All public and charter K-12 schools in Texas participating in national school meals (breakfast and/or lunch) from 2013 to 2019 who are eligible for the CEP program in at least 1 year and choose to opt into the program in at least 1 year (n 2797 unique schools and 16103 school-years). School-level administrative data from the Texas Department of Agriculture on meal counts, enrollment and summary characteristics of students merged with district-level educational and socio-demographic data from the Texas Education Authority. We find opting into CEP increased school breakfast participation by 4·59 percentage points (P < 0·001) and lunch participation by 4·32 percentage points (P < 0·001), on average. The effect is slightly larger (4·64 and 4·61, respectively) and still statistically significant when excluding summer months. Our findings suggest that opting into CEP modestly increases school meal participation in Texas, with a similar impact on breakfast and lunch.

A Cross-Sectional Analysis of Barriers Associated With Non-Attendance at a Urology Telehealth Clinic in a Safety-Net Hospital

To analyze the factors associated with non-attendance at a urology telehealth clinic in a large urban safety-net hospital after institutional-mandated transition to telehealth due to COVID-19. We identified all encounters scheduled for telehealth after March 17, 2020 and in the subsequent 8 weeks. Logistic regression was used to identify factors associated with attendance. In total there were 322 telehealth encounters, 228 (70.8%) of which were attended and 94 (29.2%) that were not attended. Racial/ethnic minorities accounted for 175 (77.0%) of attended and 73 (76.7%) of non-attended encounters. On multivariable regression, single/divorced/widowed (odds ratio [OR] 2.36, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.26-4.43), current substance use disorder (OR 5.33, 95% CI 2.04-13.98), and being scheduled for a new patient appointment (OR 1.81, 95% CI 1.04-3.13) were associated with higher odds of not attending a telehealth encounter. Race/ethnicity, primary language, and country of birth were not associated with odds of attendance. Our findings identify several social factors (social support, substance use) associated with non-attendance at outpatient telehealth urology encounters at an urban safety-net hospital during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. These barriers may have a greater impact specifically within a safety-net healthcare system and will inform equitable provision of urology telehealth programs in the future FUNDING: Goldberg-Benioff Endowed Professorship in Cancer Biology. Evaluation of the Implementation of Traffic on the Road in the School Safe Zone (ZoSS) in Depok

The implementation of the School Safe Zone (ZoSS) provision program in the Depok City area for early childhood education, basic education and education that has not been implemented optimally is in accordance with the objectives of implementing the ZoSS program. The purpose of this research is to increase traffic awareness in the area to school, where many parents, teachers and children do not care about good driving and care for the safety of themselves and others. The problem in this study is the lack of public awareness of how to get to the school area safely. The research method uses descriptive qualitative data collection methods by interviewing children who go to school in Depok and secondary data from journals. The results showed that the application of ZoSS in the city of Depok has been implemented with priority in 7 elementary schools (SD) with traffic signs and officers optimally.

Evaluation Of Supplementary Feeding (Pmt) Program For Treatment Of Poor Nutrition To Children In North Aceh District

Malnutrition is one of the most concerning things that happened in Aceh Utara district, because it is a disgrace to the government and society. Based on data from the North Aceh Health Office, the number of sufferers of malnutrition is increasing every year. This study aims to identify and describe the evaluation of the program for handling malnutrition under five and the obstacles to evaluating the program for handling malnutrition under five by the government in North Aceh Regency. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive analysis research type. Data collection techniques were carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation, the data obtained were analyzed using an interactive analysis model. The results showed that government programs exist and have been implemented, namely the Supplementary Food Provision (PMT) program in the form of milk, biscuits, and multivitamins, but the number of sufferers of malnutrition is still increasing every year because the implementation is not comprehensive and uneven, which is an obstacle. In the Supplementary Feeding Program (PMT), there is an inadequate budget and a large area accompanied by a lack of supervision from the Health Office so that this program has not been carried out optimally. Research recommendations, the government can make efforts to prevent malnutrition in accordance with the rules set out in Law no. 36 of 2009 concerning health to improve the nutritional quality of individuals and communities in accordance with advances in science and technology.

Student experiences of a return to practice programme: a qualitative study.

Nurses, midwives and other health professionals who return to practice come from a range of backgrounds and return for a variety of reasons. Much of the research on return to practice concerns programme provision rather than returnee experience. This qualitative study focused on the experiences of nursing, midwifery and allied health students undertaking a return to practice programme at a higher education institute. It interpreted the perceptions of the student experience of returning to clinical practice following a lapse in professional registration. Data collection methods were qualitative and involved focus groups. Findings were analysed using thematic analysis. Several themes and subthemes emerged from the data, including 'the importance of returnee identity' and 'challenges and barriers'. Findings demonstrated different approaches to and influences on returnees' learning journeys. Previous knowledge, skills and experience were often hidden from view and hard to explain although crucial to returnee success.

The association of socio-demographic and environmental factors on childhood diarrhea in Cambodia

Background:Diarrhea is still the leading cause of childhood death worldwide, as well as a major cause for concern in developing countries. This study was conducted to investigate the factors related to childhood diarrhea in Cambodia. Methods:A cross-sectional study of the secondary data from the Cambodia Demographic and Health Survey 2014 was conducted using the combined dataset of household data and children’s data. A generalized linear mixed model was used to analyze the determinant factors of childhood diarrhea. Results:The surveys included 2,828 children, aged 12 to 35 months. The prevalence of diarrhea in the last 2 weeks was 16.44% (95% CI: 14.72%-18.31%). Factors with statistically significant associations with childhood diarrhea in Cambodia were: maternal unemployment, compared with being in employment (AOR = 1.43; 95% CI: 1.14-1.78); the child being male (AOR = 1.25; 95%CI: 1.02-1.53); the presence of unimproved toilet facilities (AOR = 1.17; 95%CI: 1.05-1.31) compared with improved toilet facilities; and unhygienic disposal of children’s stools (AOR = 1.32; 95%CI: 1.06-1.64) compared with hygienic disposal of children’s stools when controlling for other covariates. Both maternal age (one year older; AOR = 0.85; 95%CI: 0.78– 0.93) and child age (one month older; AOR = 0.86; 95%CI: 0.78-0.94) had significant negative associations with the occurrence of childhood diarrhea. Conclusion:Childhood diarrhea remains a public health concern in Cambodia. The probability of diarrhea occurring is shown to be increased by maternal unemployment, the sex of the child being male, lack of provision of improved toilet facilities, and the unhygienic disposal of children’s stools; whereas increasing maternal age and child’s age were associated with a reduced chance of diarrhea occurring. On the basis of these results, we recommend provision of programs focusing on reducing diarrhea through the construction of improved toilet facilities and the promotion of behavior to improve hygiene, specifically targeting younger mothers.

Association Of Age, Injury, And The Provision Of Self-directed Exercise Programs Among Competitive Softball Pitchers

It is believed, but not well studied, that off-season and pre-season conditioning regimens result in reduced in-season pitching injuries. Age and off-season training are possible factors in determining in-season injury risk. PURPOSE: To investigate injury incidence and explore the relationships between 1) age, 2) provision of in-season and off-season training regimens, 3) pain during in-season game play and 4) reported injury history among female softball pitchers. METHODS: An online questionnaire for athlete demographics, sport participation, training regimens, and injury history was completed by 38 softball pitchers [21 female high school (HS) and 17 collegiate softball pitchers] with average age of 17 ± 2.23 yrs. RESULTS: 21 of the 38 pitchers (55.26%) reported a softball related injury. Across all aged pitchers, the most common injuries occurred at the shoulder and low back. Compared to HS pitchers, collegiate pitchers reported greater: number of injuries, incidence of pain during in game play, and provision of in-season skill focused and general exercise regimens (Table 1), p < 0.05. There was no association of injury and receipt of an arm care program (p = 0.342), or exercise regimen (p = 0.342) from players’ schools. Pitchers with a history of injury were more likely to have received an off-season exercise regimen from their school compared to those without report of injury, p = 0.012. CONCLUSIONS: Preliminary questionnaire findings reveal greater report of injury and incidence of pain during in game play among collegiate players than HS players. The provision of off-season and arm care regimens did not influence the occurrence of injuries. Findings of limited provision of in-season skill and general exercise regimens and arm care information to HS pitchers may foreshadow resultant cumulative overuse injuries at the collegiate level. Lack of trainer oversight with off-season exercise regimens may influence the intended efficacy of injury prevention.

Community Empowerment Through Homegrown Medicinal Plants and The "Wedang Uwuh" Herbal Beverage Cultivation in Seketi Hamlet

Rural community empowerment is an effort to develop independence and community welfare through the improvement of knowledge, attitudes, skills, behaviour, abilities, awareness, and resource utilization. This is carried out by establishing policies, programs, activities and assisting with the problems related to the priority needs of the community to increase community activities through the cultivation of homegrown medicinal plants. The homegrown medicinal plants (TOGA) are traditional medicinal plants. These medicinal plants are used for making Wedang Uwuh. The ingredients consist of various types of spices namely: ginger, cloves, nutmeg, lemongrass, cardamom, cinnamon, sappanwood, and rosella. The method of implementation used is through the diffusion of knowledge and direct practice. These activities were carried out for the residents of Seketi Hamlet. The results of the activities that have been carried out in Seketi Hamlet are as follows: the community gets insight into TOGA plants; people acquire skills in how to process TOGA into Wedang Uwuh herbal beverage which can help increase endurance (immunomodulators) to protect against Covid-19 pandemic; adding or increasing community activities through the use of house yards as TOGA growing media. Therefore, it is necessary for the Head of Seketi Hamlet to consider doing several things, namely the provision of advanced programs via entrepreneurship training to produce superior products from TOGA yields, and community cooperation in the continuous care of the “Seketi Hamlet Health Garden” for long term benefits.

Understanding the Digital Capabilities of Rural Communities in Low Literacy Rate Areas in Malaysia towards Digital Society

Despite several activities been focusing on urban areas, rural areas are no exception in being a digital society. Since the year 2000, various initiatives such as rural libraries establishment and Universal Service Provision (USP) programs tend to narrow down the digital divide between rural and urban areas in Malaysia. However, few empirical studies have been carried out on information access and usage of digital technologies among rural communities in Malaysia. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the digital capabilities of rural communities in low literacy rate areas in Malaysia towards a digital society. This study is a quantitative method and descriptive kind of study using questionnaires as an instrument to collect the data. Multi-stage clusters and simple random sampling were employed and 400 respondents were selected. Analysis performed confirms that rural communities in Malaysia, are digitally connected and informed society (Digital Society). Smartphones and the Internet were the highest types of ICT tools used by the rural communities in the study. The result did reflect on the ownership of their ICT tools, which most of the rural communities afford to have their own smartphones regardless of the level of age. A better understanding of digital capabilities towards information access and usage of digital technologies among rural communities could produce a better understanding of the adoption and usage of digital technologies. The findings are also expected to provide useful inputs in ensuring that the advancements in communications infrastructure and services contribute to the inclusion and participation of all segments of the population in the realization of a Digital Society. Meanwhile, able to understand the human and social factors, which affect and contribute to the adoption and usage of digital technologies and services.

Entrepreneurship as a panacea to increasing youth unemployment in Africa

The African youth population is expected to increase up to over 830 million by 2050 and an estimated 263 million young people may not be gainfully employed by 2025 according to the African Development Bank projection. This is quite worrisome as there is currently an increase in migration of young and skilled Africans to other continents, as well as poor living conditions, increased crime rates, and social vices among the African youth population as a result of unemployment, amongst other factors. Urgent attention is, therefore, required towards reducing the rate of unemployment in Africa. Although job creation and the provision of economic opportunities for citizens are constitutional duties of government officials and public office holders, the alarming increase in youth unemployment calls for a more holistic and sustainable approach to addressing this challenge – hence the need for human capacity building towards self-employment and sustenance. The promotion of entrepreneurship through formal and informal education in Africa, provision of mentorship programmes, and start-up funds will provide a short- and long-term solution to the scourge of youth unemployment in Africa.

Entrepreneurship education in Indonesian higher education: mapping literature from the Country\u2019s perspective

Entrepreneurship education has become an important and fast-growing research area contributing to understanding and acknowledging global and national trends and developing future educational policies and actions. From the country’s perspective, the development of entrepreneurship education in Indonesia is relatively recent. This circumstance is reflected by the minimal amount of research in English language articles published in prominent journals, the uneven provision programs, and the lack of modern practices in teaching and learning entrepreneurship in higher education across the country. Due to those rationales, this study aims to serve as an initial proposition by mapping some current states concerning Indonesian entrepreneurship education programs’ provision, its common learning practices within the higher education context, and its relation to students’ entrepreneurial competencies, characteristics, and Indonesian entrepreneurs’ issues on entrepreneurship education. By using mapping literature methodology, this study has identified and analyzed 31 articles concerning Indonesian entrepreneurship in higher education, searched through electronic database and international and national universities publications for the last ten-year period (2010–2019). The results showed that major entrepreneurship education program provisions and implementation of contemporary entrepreneurship course contents and teaching methods in Indonesia are centralized in Java Island—Indonesia. Another notable finding is mentoring, the most recent and emerging entrepreneurial type in Indonesia to support more students’ learning engagement and independence, or education through entrepreneurship. The study’s findings could inform the Indonesian government, educators, researchers, and educational policymakers concerning the current circumstances of Indonesian entrepreneurship education and how to improve them in the future.

Late Stage Cervical Cancer among Confirmed Cervical Cancer Cases in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.

Cervical cancer is the leading gynaecological cancer in Nepal. Most of the time, it is diagnosed in the late stage with its associated morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to find out the prevalence of late-stage presentation of cervical cancer among confirmed cases of cervical cancer in a tertiary care centre. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted at a tertiary care centre of Nepal from March 2021 to May 2021 after obtaining ethical clearance from the Institutional Review Board (Reference no.805). A convenient sampling method was used. A descriptive analysis was done of all cases of cervical cancer who were diagnosed within the last 36 months and attended hospital during the study period. The information was collected by interview and hospital record was checked. Analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 20. Point estimate at 95% Confidence Interval was calculated along with frequency and proportion for binary data. Among the 142 confirmed cervical cancer cases, the prevalence of late-stage presentation of cervical cancer was 93 (65.5%) (57.7-73.3 at 95% Confidence Interval). The mean age at diagnosis was 50.6±10.9 years. More than two-thirds of the women were from outside Kathmandu valley 102 (71.8%) and came from >50km distance. The majority of the women 83 (58.5%) were illiterate. The study showed that two-thirds of the women presented in advanced stage and the factors leading to the late stage. This highlights the fact, that the focus should be on the provision of organized screening programs and early diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.

АНАЛИЗ УДОВЛЕТВОРЕННОСТИ НАСЕЛЕНИЯ КАЧЕСТВОМ ПРЕДОСТАВЛЕНИЯ УСЛУГ ПО ЛЬГОТНОМУ ЛЕКАРСТВЕННОМУ ОБЕСПЕЧЕНИЮ

Drug therapy is one of the main components of medical care for the population, and the provision of drugs is an important indicator of its availability and quality. The purpose of our work was to analyze satisfaction with the quality of the provision of services for preferential drug provision. The works of domestic and foreign scientists in the field of preferential drug provision, as well as regulatory and organizational documentation on pharmaceutical activities were taken as an information base. The survey method served as the main research method. The objects of the study were the visitors of the pharmacy organizations of the Oryol region, who receive drugs under the program of preferential drug provision. The study found that 49.0% of respondents had difficulties in making an appointment with a doctor; cases of refusal to issue a prescription were indicated by 29.0% of the respondents; 45.0% of the respondents had to spend a long time on obtaining a preferential prescription for a drug by the decision of a medical commission. The majority of respondents (54.0%) do not receive medicines on preferential terms on time (postponed for more than 10 days). Almost half of the surveyed respondents (48.0%) are not satisfied with the treatment with prescription drugs prescribed under the program of preferential drug provision, due to the lack of drugs prescribed by a doctor in the pharmacy organization at the time of contact and their preference for drugs from other manufacturers. Most of the respondents (61.0%) consider the range of preferential drugs to be insufficient for the treatment of their underlying disease. Some respondents (20.0%) are not satisfied with the service in a pharmacy organization; 19.0% are dissatisfied with the quality and completeness of information about medicines received from a doctor and a pharmacy worker. The results obtained were communicated to the management of medical and pharmaceutical organizations serving privileged categories of citizens in the Oryol region. The authors of the study developed a Standard Operating Procedure “Procedure for Selling Medicines to Beneficial Categories of Citizens”, which helps to optimize the quality of service in pharmacies for the population receiving medicines under the preferential drug provision program.

Improving graduateness: addressing the gap between employer needs and graduate employability in Palestine

PurposeThis research paper seeks to identify multiple stakeholder perceptions relating to the level of graduateness of a group of business school graduates in Palestine.Design/methodology/approachAn exploratory mixed method approach was employed. Survey data provided the quantitative information that was analysed using statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS). Interviews of 1.5–2 h duration were conducted to gather the qualitative data. The study utilised an inductive thematic approach to analyse these data.FindingsEmployers were resolute in the view that despite the high level of youth unemployment in Palestine, they still had difficulty in sourcing suitably qualified graduates. Collaboration between employers and higher education providers is not of a level that supports the development of graduateness. The identified key skill shortages occurred in the soft skills area, for example, written and verbal communication, language and problem-solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution.Research limitations/implicationsAs an exploratory research study, there are opportunities for future research investigating more deeply the themes identified and the success or otherwise of the recommended initiatives.Practical implicationsThis study has implications for both educationalists and policymakers, regarding the prioritisation of development funding and of policies and practices aimed at improving youth employment. There are implications for all stakeholders with regard to collaboration in curriculum development, provision of education, and training and development programmes targeting young people to ensure that they are work ready.Originality/valueThis paper is one of the first to examine the skills gap between business schools' graduates and employment in Palestine.

Availability of healthcare services as the basis for social protection of population

Public health protection in modern conditions is one of the main factors of socio-economic development of all countries of the world. Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals requires an urgent solving the problems of universal healthcare coverage. In this regard, it is necessary to monitor the quality and accessibility of health care in two important aspects: health services coverage and financial protection in health care. Based on the materials of sample statistical and sociological surveys, comparative analysis, the article examines the issues of households' satisfaction with the quality and availability of medical services, possibility of using remote medical consultations, and availability of paid medical services. The reasons for dissatisfaction with the quality of health care were identified: dissatisfaction with the work of district doctors, shortage of medical specialists, long waiting time for an appointment. The dependence of the availability of remote medical services on the ability to pay, age composition and place of residence of the population is revealed. This study creates the preconditions for refining the strategy in the field of health protection concerning the issues of financing medical services for certain socially unprotected segments of the population by expanding the compulsory health insurance program for provision of primary health care by non-governmental medical organizations, including use of telemedicine. It is advisable to control the approach to the critical level of financial expenditures of the family budgets of various households on payment for medical services through regular monitoring of the availability of medical services. It is proposed to expand the scope of professional liability insurance for doctors and medical workers, develop professional standards and ethical principles for conducting medical activities. Implementation of the proposed measures will reduce the "catastrophic expenses" from family budgets of households for paying for health care, will contribute to increasing life expectancy of the Russian population and create conditions for economic growth.

A Study on the Service Provision Direction of the National Library for Children and Young Adults in the 5G Era

In order to establish a digital-based use environment for the provision of new information services suitable for the 5G era, it is necessary to discuss the direction of service provision by the National Library of Children and Young Adults in the 5G era. Based on utilization services in other fields, library services in the 5G era, including the development and provision of employee education and training services, ultra-high-definition and 360-degree realistic contents and education on library use, provision of multi-dimensional realistic media streaming broadcasting services, provision of telepresence education programs, activation of virtual communities, implementation of hologram performance halls/exhibit centers, and provision of unmanned book delivery services, environment monitoring, safety monitoring, and customized services, were proposed. In addition, based on 5G service, 5G technology, and library application direction, advancing into a producing and supporting base for ultra-realistic and immersive contents in the 5G era, strengthening online and mobile services in the non-contact era, and establishing a smart library environment were proposed as the service provision direction for the National Library of Children and Young Adults in the 5G era. Is the Right to Housing Being Realized in Canada? Learning from the Experiences of Tenants in Affordable Housing Units in a Large Canadian City

Background: Housing is a critical determinant of health and a basic human right. Historically, Canada’s housing policies have not been grounded in a human rights-based approach. In the 1990s, a policy shift prioritized efficiency in government spending and deficit reductions over the provision of many social programs including affordable housing. With various levels of government now acknowledging and recognizing the need for more affordable housing, it is important to understand tenant experiences, perspectives, and needs to ensure policies and practices are supporting individuals appropriately. Methods: In total, 161 individuals participated in this study by completing online or in-person questionnaires. Results: Exploratory analysis of results revealed that although there were some positive benefits to affordable housing, many tenants continued to struggle financially, physically, mentally, and emotionally without adequate supports in place. Conclusions: These findings highlight the need for affordable housing to be part of a system of care that provides supports along a continuum. The results further reiterate that placing a person or family in affordable housing does not guarantee that their lives have improved. Without robust affordable housing models that prioritize the empowerment of individuals and families, housing policies may fail to fulfil the right to safe and affordable housing for Canadians, especially when considering historically marginalized populations.
