Teachers' and Prospective Teachers' Responses to Mentoring in the Creation of PMRI Learning Tools for Early Childhood Education Students

This research aimed to describe the responses of teachers and prospective teachers regarding the mentoring in creating Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) learning tools for early childhood education students using contexts from the surrounding environment. Environmental contexts were used in the learning process to understand concepts or learning materials more concretely. This was a qualitative descriptive research study. The data collection techniques used were explanations, question and answer sessions, and exercises. The result of this research was positive responses from teachers and prospective teachers based on the creation of PMRI learning tools for PAUD students using contexts from the surrounding environment.

Emotional intelligence training for pre-service primary school teachers: a mixed methods research.

This research devises a training program for developing emotional intelligence focused on social and emotional learning and integrates it into teaching to improve pre-service teachers' emotional intelligence. The study used a embedded mixed design. The quantitative dimension of the study used a controlled quasi-experimental design with pre-test/post-test, and the qualitative dimension used an evaluative case study design. The study was conducted with 73 prospective primary school teachers studying at the faculty of education of a Turkish state university. The study group was formed using purposive random sampling. The sample for the quantitative dimension was composed using probability random sampling, whereas the sample for the qualitative dimension was composed using purposive sampling. The program was administered to the experimental group for 10 weeks. Quantitative data were obtained using the Bar-On EQ-i, and qualitative data were obtained using a semi-structured interview questionnaire and participant diaries. Quantitative data were analyzed using normality analysis and one-factor analysis of covariance, whereas qualitative data were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis. The results found the developed training program to be an effective approach to improve emotional intelligence among pre-service teachers. Moreover, data obtained from documentary sources and focus group interviews during and after the application of the program confirmed and adequately explained the quantitative results. In line with the purpose of the study, the findings obtained from the quantitative part of the study showed that the implementation of the training program for the development of emotional intelligence focused on SEL was an effective approach in increasing the emotional intelligence levels of the pre-service teachers in the experimental group. Similar research results also support that pre-service teachers' emotional intelligence can be improved with additional intervention practices without affecting their curriculum.

Investigating primary pre-service teachers' perceptions of nonfiction picturebooks

This study explores the factors contributing to the imbalance between fiction and nonfiction materials in primary school classrooms, with a specific emphasis on the perspectives of prospective teachers. Employing a qualitative research approach, the investigation involved 30 student teachers who had completed the Children’s Literature course at a Spanish university. Semi-structured interviews, with questions validated by expert judges, were utilized to gather responses, which were subsequently transcribed and analyzed through coding, following a categorical framework refined post-response analysis. The primary findings indicate a restricted exposure to nonfiction picturebooks in familial and educational settings. Despite positive emotional responses from trainee teachers, the study reveals an inadequacy in their training, hindering the development of a comprehensive understanding and the reinforcement of self-efficacy for integrating nonfiction materials into future teaching practices. Furthermore, the research underscores a disparity between the perceived significance of nonfiction picturebooks for enhancing children’s multimodal reading and the inclination of trainee teachers to prioritize fiction due to a lack of confidence and previous exposure. As a result, the study proposes a reassessment of teacher training programs, recommending a more thorough focus on nonfiction materials and continuous professional development to address the disparity between beliefs and actual classroom practices.

Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di Sekolah: Persiapan Mahasiswa UIN Raden Fatah Palembang sebagai Calon Guru dalam Menghadapi Tantangan Pendidikan

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum presents various challenges, both in terms of preparedness and understanding of the curriculum concept itself. Teachers are required to be more innovative and creative in designing and conducting lessons. Thus, the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum aims to prepare students as prospective teachers to face educational challenges. The research method used is a qualitative approach with a case study method. The data used includes interviews, observations, and documentation. The research results show that the Merdeka Curriculum facilitates education students at UIN Raden Fatah Palembang in optimizing teaching tools.

PGSD Student Internship Program in The Framework of The MBKM Curriculum (Study of Internship Implementation in The Ngada Region, East Nusa Tenggara)

This research aims to describe: 1) Preparation for internships, 2) Implementation of internships, 3) Evaluation of internships in the PGSD STKIP Citra Bakti Ngada Study Program. 4) Reveal how the internship program can strengthen the competencies of prospective elementary school teachers. This type of research is qualitative research, with a descriptive design, and uses a phenomenological approach. Data collection methods use questionnaires, interviews and observation. The informants for this research were students of PGSD STKIP Citra Bakti Ngada class of 2020, DPM (Internship Supervisor) and tutor teachers. The data analysis method uses interactive analysis by means of data reduction, data presentation and data verification. The results of this research are: 1) Preparation for the internship in the PGSD STKIP Citra Bakti Ngada study program has been carried out well, students have carried out registration procedures in accordance with the provisions, the DPM (internship supervisor) also provides debriefing to students before being sent to partner schools so that students understand and understand the purpose of holding an internship program. 2) The implementation of the internship program for students of the PGSD STKIP Citra Bakti Ngada study program class of 2020 is in accordance with the guidelines in the internship handbook. 3) Partner elementary schools and DPM provide a joint evaluation at the end of the program 4) Implementation of an internship program for students of the PGSD STKIP Citra Bakti Ngada study program can strengthen the competency of prospective elementary school teachers because, judging from the SKGP (competency standards for novice teachers), it turns out that the competency of novice teachers is also possessed and found in students participating in the internship program as prospective teachers when carrying out the internship program at partner elementary schools. From the results of the research conducted, it can be concluded that the internship program carried out by PGSD STKIP Citr Bakti Ngada study program students runs in accordance with procedures and guidebooks. This internship program can also strengthen the competency of prospective elementary school teachers.

The Nature of Differentiated Learning in The Perspective of Constructivist Educational Philosophy: A Systematic Literature Review

This study aims to examine differentiated learning from the perspective of constructivist educational philosophy, namely the application of differentiated learning and the relationship between constructivism and differentiated learning. This research used a qualitative approach, with a systematic literature review method using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis). This research used the Publish or Perish application to search for various relevant scientific articles taken from international journals, Scopus, with a range of 2014-2024. The data analysis technique for this research used thematic analysis. The result showed that the nature of learning differs from the perspective of constructivist educational philosophy regarding basically every student's knowledge. Constructivism includes a learning process where students must build their knowledge through knowledge and experience that has existed in students before. In learning, teachers help students reconstruct information by presenting meaningful learning. Meaningful in this sense, teachers must be able to organize learning by considering each student's uniqueness because each student is a different individual. The findings in this study showed that the application of differentiated learning based on the educational philosophy of constructivism can be a reference for teachers to direct students in constructing their knowledge independently by paying attention to all aspects of each student's learning. The implication of this study is to provide knowledge to teachers and prospective teachers, namely that the educational philosophy of constructivism can guide learning theory in the application of differentiated learning. Later, it can help improve the quality of learning, which will also increase human resources in Indonesia and help achieve national development goals.

Examination of the Augmented Reality Exercise Monitoring System as an Adjunct Tool for Prospective Teacher Trainers

This study explores the effectiveness of exercise monitoring systems in improving athlete performance and motivation within educational settings. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested: one positing that the utilization of exercise monitoring systems would reduce muscle injury rates among athletes, and the other suggesting that it would increase athletes' motivation levels. The experimental design involved dividing participants into experimental and control groups, with the former utilizing the proposed exercise monitoring system and the latter employing traditional teaching methods. Assessments were conducted post-session to measure comprehension and motivation levels, with evaluation criteria focusing on the accurate identification of course components. Contrary to expectations, the results did not support the hypotheses, indicating no significant reduction in muscle injury rates or increase in motivation levels among athletes exposed to the monitoring system. These findings underscore the need for a nuanced understanding of the complex factors influencing athlete development and performance outcomes. Future research should employ rigorous methodologies and objective outcome measures to further elucidate the role of exercise monitoring systems in athlete development and optimize their integration into training programs, thus contributing to advancements in athlete performance and motivation in educational contexts. Improving Creative Thinking Skills In Marine Ecology In Developing Bioentrepreneurship

This research aims to determine the improvement of creative thinking skills in marine ecology in developing bioentrepreneurship towards sustainable development in prospective biology teacher students. The material in this research is plankton, especially the cultivation of Spirulina sp in the laboratory. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a one-group pretest posttest design. The research sample consisted of 27 students who took a marine ecology course in semester 5 at Central Kalimantan University. The test instruments were multiple choice (PG) reasoned and plankton material description test questions. The research results show that each indicator of creative thinking skills, namely flexibility, originality, and elaboration, is significantly different (p = 0.000). The research results show that plankton material towards sustainable development can improve creative thinking skills in prospective biology teacher students. The contribution of this research can have implications for sustainable development goals point 4, namely quality education, and point 14, namely life underwater.

Mobile Based Learning to Enhance Attitudes and Knowledge About Herpetofauna in Prospective Biology Teachers

Students and the public have a negative perception or dislike of herpetofauna. The solution to this problem is to introduce herpetofauna through mobile learning. The research aimed to determine the effect of mobile based learning towards attitudes and knowledge about herpetofauna in prospective biology teachers. The research method used Pre-experimental Design with the form of research one-group Pretest Posttest Design. Attitude data was collected using questionnaires and knowledge using tests. The data obtained were analyzed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The research results obtained asymp. Sig 0.00 < 0.05. There are differences in attitudes between men and women. It can be concluded that mobile based learning to enhance attitudes and knowledge about herpetofauna in prospective biology teachers.

Integrating RADEC Model and AI to Enhance Science Literacy: Student Perspectives

This study aims to evaluate the use of the RADEC Model supported by Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing students' science literacy. The research methodology involves data collection through student questionnaires, which include questions related to their understanding of scientific concepts, contexts, and attitudes after using the RADEC Model. Data analysis employs descriptive statistical techniques to assess students' agreement levels regarding the provided statements. The results indicate that most students exhibit high levels of agreement regarding the effectiveness of the RADEC Model in enhancing their understanding of science concepts, boosting learning motivation, facilitating problem-solving, and developing critical thinking skills. Positive impacts are also observed in improving student engagement in collaborative discussions and increasing their interest in further exploration of science. This research makes a significant contribution by highlighting the importance of integrating AI technology into educational approaches to enhance students' science literacy, with broad implications for improving the quality of science education in the future. In conclusion, the integration of the AI-based RADEC Model is an innovative step to increase the effectiveness of science learning in elementary schools, so prospective elementary school teachers must be able to master this technology to provide personalized learning experiences and improve students' science literacy.

The article elucidates the author's pedagogical conditions for fostering professional competencies in prospective history teachers. These conditions encompass the cultivation of creative thinking and the establishment of a digital educational environment within higher education institutions. The study substantiates that the effective enhancement of creative thinking transpires through the resolution of complex pedagogical problems, tasks, and scenarios, thereby underscoring the significance of problem-based learning as a pivotal methodology for addressing creative challenges. Concerning the establishment of a digital educational environment in higher education as a requisite for the proficient development of future history teachers' professional competencies, the article posits the digitalization of higher education as a critical mandate for educational reform and a key facet of information society advancement. The article also outlines major trends in the digital evolution of education, including the advancement of mobile-oriented tools, artificial intelligence, and neural networks; the implementation of machine learning, blockchain, and cryptocurrencies; the adoption of virtualization and fog computing technologies; the progression of virtual reality; and the integration of virtual assistants and chatbots.

Дослідження взаємозв'язку між схильністю до критичного мислення та міжкультурною конфліктологічною компетентністю українських і фінських майбутніх учителів

The present research studied critical thinking dispositions (CTDs) and their relationship towards intercultural conflict competence (ICC) in a sample of 58 students, 34 students of the Ukrainian University and 24 students of the Finnish University. The target population was the first-year pre-service teachers of bachelor level. The study was conducted using convenience sampling method. The main analyses carried out are descriptive in nature, non-parametric tests were used to analyse the differences and similarities between the variables of students’ CTDs and ICC. Main findings demonstrated the lack of significant differences in the levels of CTDs towards the levels of ICC among the students of each group, alongside the insufficiency of significant differences in the levels of CTDs towards the levels of ICC between the groups. The scores obtained for the dimensions of CTDs, namely, the dispositions towards argumentation and truth-seeking were less manifested, both within and between the groups. The outcomes obtained for ICC indicated the low levels of proficiency in communicative and behavioural components, particularly, the dimensions concerning situations of face-to-face intercultural interactions and intercultural communication, both within and between the groups. Slight difference was found among conflict resolution styles, i.e., 92% of Finnish students and more than a half of Ukrainian students preferred mutual-face concern style, while about one third of Ukrainian students were inclined to self-face concern style. Among the main limitations of the study were such as, a small sample population size; heterogeneous character of the target groups, while the participants were mainly prospective teachers of English, some pre-service teachers specialized in other educational fields. To summarise, with the growing number of intercultural interactions in school settings due to cultural diversity in both countries, it is crucial to enhance CTDs as well as ICC in the academic context.

Microteaching is one of the courses that must be programmed by all students in the history education study program, in the sixth semester as a prerequisite before students go to school to carry out practical field experiences. The micro teaching course is a very vital activity for every student at the Teaching Faculty, and fulfills the need to be able to position himself completely and professionally in the teaching field. The aim of this microteaching course is to train basic teaching skills and prepare students in the history education study program as prospective teachers to face full teaching work in the classroom by having the knowledge, skills, abilities and attitudes as professional teachers. The role of lecturers in microteaching courses and student activity in learning activities is very important. In Micro Teaching learning activities, there are 10 basic skills that are really needed by a prospective teacher, including, 1) skills to open learning, 2) skills to explain, 3) skills to provide variations, 4) skills to ask questions, 5) skills to guide group discussions, 6) skills in guiding group discussions, 6) small group and individual teaching skills, 7) class management skills, 8) reinforcement skills, 9) skills in using media or tools, and 10) skills in closing learning. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method, where the data obtained is processed in narrative form.

Bilingual Skills in Learning for Islamic Education Students in the International Special Class Program (KKI) at Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University Samarinda

This research departs from the importance of foreign language skills as one of the efforts to improve the competencies that must be possessed by every teacher or prospective Islamic Religious Education teacher. Therefore, in improving these competencies, a program is needed that is designed to form language skills for Islamic Education students who will become Islamic Education Teachers in the future. To support this program, the International Special Class at Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University Samarinda has developed a curriculum to support the advancement of students' foreign language skills in both English and Arabic. International special class management is needed in harmonizing the international special class curriculum (KKI) with concepts and activities related to language both English and Arabic in daily life in the classroom. The KKI program is expected to be able to compete with international universities as well with the provision of foreign language during their special class program. The Arabic language proficiency formation program for PAI students in the International Special Class Program (KKI) uses two programs TOAFL and Muhadharah. The English language proficiency formation program for PAI students in the International Special Class Program (KKI) has two language proficiency formation programs TOEFL and Public Speaking. This program is certainly supported by lecturers who speak English and Arabic to support this learning. It is hoped that alumni of the international special class (KKI) at Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University Samarinda can improve human resources and services to the community.

Language use and attitudes of prospective teachers: a comparison of the Basque and Friulian multilingual contexts

ABSTRACT Since educators play a decisive role in the formation of language attitudes, this study analyses perceived competence, habits of language use and attitudes towards three languages in contact harboured by prospective teachers. Our research replicates a 20-year-old study and is comparative, as it parallels two European regions: the Basque Autonomous Community in Spain, and Friuli Venezia Giulia in Italy. The sample was made up of 553 participants. Quantitative data were collected by means of the original questionnaire. Significant results were obtained, with strong effect sizes. As for the minority language, our results show that while Basque is mainly linked with the educational domain and tends to be used more often with younger people, the situation is different for Friulian, which is virtually absent from the educational domain and tends to be used in exchanges with older people. The status of majority language is especially true for Italian in FVG, which, in addition to being the main language in education, is predominantly used by future teachers in all domains of their daily life. As for English, our findings seem to indicate that its general position is becoming stronger, and this trend may be maintained in both contexts in the future.

Knowledge, Attitude and Behavioral Components of Environmental Literacy: Perceptions of Prospective Teachers for Quality Education in Lahore

The study aimed to analyze the knowledge, attitude, and behavioral components of environmental literacy of prospective teachers for quality education in District Lahore. The objective of this study was to assess the ecological literacy of future teachers in terms of the information, attitudes, and behaviors they possess. The methodology employed in this investigation was a quantitative one. A convenient selection sample of 325 graduate aspiring educators at Lahore's 13 public universities enrolled in teacher education programs was chosen. Two tools were employed in this investigation. The survey was broken up into two sections. Section A contains fundamental demographic information, while Section B is subdivided into Environmental Knowledge (EK), Environmental Attitudes (EA), and Environmental Behaviors (EB) categories, respectively. This study found that prospective educators have a moderate level of ecological literacy. The survey found that male prospective teachers were more literate than their female counterparts, but there was no discernible gender gap in environmental literacy. Future educators do have favorable perspectives and actions toward the environment. No significant gender differences in prospective teachers' attitudes or actions were discovered. It is suggested that colleges and universities that prepare future educators must include environmental studies.
