Strategies for Reforming Architectural English Education to Navigate Industry Challenges

The Chinese construction industry has entered a downturn period, the recommendation of the Chinese construction market has been tightened, and the changes in the demand of the international construction market have new requirements for the foreign language ability of the present and future construction talents. In order to cultivate architectural talents with intercultural communication ability and solid professional English communication ability to improve international competitiveness, this paper discusses the teaching reform and innovation path of architectural foreign language, combining situational teaching and project-based learning, focusing on cultivating students 'comprehensive ability of architectural English, intercultural communication ability and professional expression skills. This paper analyzes the impact of the downturn of the construction industry on the teaching content and methods, and hopes to cultivate the architecture talents with international communication ability through teaching reform and exploration.

The Current Status and Structural Analysis of College Students’ Employability

Abstract With the rapid development of the social economy and the advent of the knowledge economy era, the employability of college students has become a key indicator for measuring the quality of higher education and promoting social progress. Currently, improving the employability of college students is not only related to their personal development but also to the overall level of the national innovation system and economic construction. This study aims to explore the employability of students at Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College. Through random sampling, we surveyed 300 recent graduates (covering various majors) and 200 previous graduates (covering various majors) from Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College, and invited 10 companies that hired graduates from the college to participate in an online questionnaire survey. We also conducted interviews with five companies that recruit graduates from Liuzhou Vocational and Technical College to analyze in depth the current status of college students' employability, covering aspects such as cognitive ability, professional skills, social skills, and innovative spirit. The research results show that college students have rich theoretical knowledge but lack soft skills such as teamwork, problem-solving ability, interpersonal communication skills, and coordination ability. To address these issues, this paper proposes the development of training courses to enhance the employability of college students.

THE ROLE OF PROJECT-BASED LEARNING IN SHAPING THE PROFESSIONAL INTERESTS OF 5TH GRADE GYMNASIUM STUDENTS IN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE LESSONS

The article delves into the pivotal role of project-based learning in shaping the professional interests of fifth-grade students in gymnasiums during Ukrainian language lessons. It underscores how project-based learning is a catalyst for the development of communication skills, critical thinking, and student responsibility, empowering students to take charge of their learning. The main stages of implementing project-based learning are detailed, from organization to presentation of projects. The influence of projects on students’ professional self-determination is scrutinized, underscoring the significance of applying knowledge in real-life contexts. The benefits of student collaboration in groups are also explored, as it fosters the development of social skills and an interest in various professions related to the Ukrainian language. The problem statement is based on the need to adapt the educational process to the demands of the modern world and the significance of career guidance activities for students during the active formation of their personalities. An analysis of traditional teaching methods demonstrates their inadequacy in providing practical knowledge application, leading to low student motivation. Project-based learning, which focuses on integrating knowledge and practical activities, can enhance students’ interest and engagement in learning while fostering essential competencies such as responsibility, critical thinking, and communication. This approach also highlights the crucial role of educators in guiding students through their learning journey, making them feel valued and integral to the process. The article also examines the historical aspects of project-based learning development, starting from the concepts of John Dewey and W. Kilpatrick, and discusses contemporary research that supports the effectiveness of this method. Implementing project-based learning in Ukrainian language instruction allows students to work on real projects, thereby promoting the development of their professional interests and skills needed for future professional activities. This not only prepares them for the challenges of the modern world but also instills a sense of optimism about their future prospects.

Content and methodology of teaching of the academic course «artificial intelligence» at law universities

The paper presents the structure and content of intelligent systems and technologies as a new independent course within the professional cycle of the educational programme.AI is disclosed in various meanings, including a detailed description of AI as a subject, as a learning tool and as an object of legal regulationThe proposed methodology and practice-oriented thematic content of the course forms professional digital knowledge, skills and abilities, creates and enhances universal and professional competences.The used methods of comparison, analogy, modelling, as well as the method of experiment, allowed to form not only a representation of the basic part of the study, but also suggestions to improve the existing state of affairs. As conclusions, it is proposed to refine the educational standards to form a practiceoriented competence-based approach to the training of modern technologies in the activities of lawyers, which will not only allow to be more competitive, but also significantly intensify and improve the quality of work performed.

SSTar-TransGAN: Transformer-based Unsupervised Multi-modality Hyperspectral Digital Staining Network

Immunohistochemistry (IHC) plays an important role in accurate cancer screening and diagnosis, the clinical application of which has been restricted by complex operation process, high costs and demand of professional skills from pathologists. Digital staining methods based on deep learning provide the possibility for Hematoxylin & Eosin (H&E) stained images to be converted into IHC stained images, but it needs to train multiple staining networks for various modalities of IHC images from different cancers, thus weakening the versatility and convenience of digital staining in the process of practical application. At the same time, microscopic hyperspectral imaging technology can provide abundant spectral information for pathological images, which has been proved effective in digital staining tasks to transform staining modalities from one to many, but microscopic hyperspectral imaging has also been troubled by time-consuming acquisition process and huge data storage. In order to overcome the above challenges, we propose SSTar-TransGAN network for digital staining tasks. With the inhabitation of StarGAN structure, SSTar-TransGAN transfers the training burden of generators into lightweight style encoders between different modalities, while in addition to the introduction of transformer structure into the encoder, the application of spectral super-resolution Swin-Spectral Transformer U-Net (SSTU) network enables the convertion from H&E stained RGB images into hyperspectral images as well, which ensure the spatial structure and color information of IHC images under multiple staining modalities and the further conversion between different staining modalities. Qualitative and quantitative experiments prove the performance of SSTar-TransGAN on digital staining tasks superior to other state-of-the-art digital staining methods.

Knee joint injuries in the structure of injuries among elite athletes of the highest achievements

The article carries out a statistical analysis of sports injuries, with the greatest attention paid to injuries of the knee joint, as the most common among athletes of a high level of professional skill in various sports. An analysis of the causes leading to injuries and operations on the knee joint was carried out, most often these are stress injuries. Risk factors for injury were analyzed.

Autonomy Behind the Paywall: Subscription-Chasing and Journalistic Freedom at the Level of Practice

ABSTRACT Addressing the growing phenomenon of datafied paywalling, an ethnographic case study examined journalistic autonomy at the level of day-to-day activities in Finnish tabloid Iltalehti, which launched a chargeable service Iltalehti Plus in March 2021. Created “from scratch,” the service formed a unique laboratory to scrutinise paywalling and the connected use of audience metrics in a tabloid context. Against the backdrop of Henrik Örnebring and Michael Karlsson’s interpretation of journalistic autonomy, the article examines the boundaries of financial and audience considerations, the Iltalehti Plus journalists’ agency, and the ways in which they legitimated autonomy. The findings suggest that in certain conditions paywalling may lead to thoroughly metrics-driven journalistic practices and a remarkably strong market orientation in journalism. In Iltalehti Plus, journalists accepted and internalised the market orientation even on individual level, considering it as developing their professional skills. The legitimation of market-oriented journalism was based on the idea of securing the future of journalism.

Service Learning Program in Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alamsyah Museum, Tanjungpinang - Indonesia

Museums should function not only as places for storing artifacts, but also as venues for education, recreation, and research that engage visitors, particularly the younger generation. One solution to enhance the appeal of museums is through the Service Learning Program, which integrates academic learning with community service. This program involves students in various museum activities, such as exhibition management and visitor education, aimed at increasing understanding of local culture and history, as well as strengthening the role of museums as centers of learning and cultural interaction. The implementation of the Service Learning Program at the Sultan Sulaiman Badrul Alamsyah Museum in Tanjungpinang , Indonesia adopts a participatory and collaborative approach, with three main phases: preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results show improvements in collection documentation, the quality of visitor education, and the development of interactive exhibitions. In addition, the program has had a positive impact on participants' social and professional skills, as well as reinforcing the museum's role in preserving local culture. Although challenges such as limited resources and time management remain, the program successfully raised public awareness of the importance of cultural preservation.

Auditor Performance Perspective: Role Conflict and Due Professional Care

A decline in auditor performance has become a public concern, particularly due to the auditors’ involvement in Role Conflict and Due Professional Care during audits. The objective of this research is to determine the extent to which role conflict influences auditor performance and the extent to which due professional care impacts auditor performance. The research method employed is descriptive verification with a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis through the Pearson product moment, and data collection techniques with questionnaires tested using SPSS 23.0 for Windows software. The results of this study indicate that role conflict and due professional care influence auditor performance, meaning if the auditor can manage existing conflicts well and is able to use professional skills, then Auditor Performance will increase. Similar research results also occurred in Iran and the United States, where auditor performance declined due to the lack of spiritual intelligence of auditors and communication modes. The novelty of this research is that auditor performance declines due to different roles that must be performed simultaneously, resulting in role conflict when conducting an examination that violates due professional care. This research underlines that if role conflict can be minimized and due professional care increases, then auditor performance will also increase.

Assessing Employers’ Satisfaction with Marist education among Business Graduates of Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), Philippines

Marist education is an educational approach that emphasizes the holistic development of students’ academic competence, character, and cultural sensitivity. This study assessed the satisfaction of various organizations’ and companies’ employers towards the Business graduates of an institution offering Marist education, Notre Dame of Marbel University (NDMU), and identified competencies and skills that influence satisfaction. The study was participated by company owners, managers, and supervisors of private and government establishments in Region XII, Philippines. The data were analyzed and interpreted using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that NDMU Business graduates possess a very high level of professional knowledge and a high level of professional skills. They also exhibit a very high level of non-professional competencies in terms of their values, interpersonal skills, and work attitude. Overall, employers are very highly satisfied with the work quality, quantity, efficiency, and organizational performance of the NDMU Business graduates. This implies that the University is able to produce graduates who are highly competent and meet the standard of the industry. Among the competencies identified, it became evident that knowledge, values, and work attitude can significantly influence employers’ satisfaction with business graduates of NDMU. The findings of the study can help educational institutions tailor their programs to better meet the demands of the industry. Data-driven studies can provide quantifiable data needed for making decisions to ensure graduates are well-prepared, relevant, and competitive.

Bridging Boundaries to Acquire Research and Professional Skills: Reflecting on the Impact and Experiences of Technology-Enabled Collaborative Cross-Institutional and Transnational Social Work Placement Projects

Worldwide, social work educators’ teaching and learning practices are founded on social justice principles and recognised for their evidence-based, interpersonal, cross-cultural, and problem-solving approaches. Placements are integral to social work education preparing students for practice. Learning experienced on such placements, particularly those involving research, can assist students to develop a broad understanding of diversity, inequality, and anti-oppressive practice in local, national, or international contexts. Technology-enhanced, online research opportunities have revolutionised research placements. This article offers a reflective dialogue on the insights gained from two transnational, technology-enhanced social work research-based placements. The first example reviews three student-led, rural-focused inquiries completed in Australia and Ireland; the second pertains to students physically situated in Ireland and who engaged in collaborative online projects while completing their USA-based social work placements online. The authors reflect on the experiences and the skills the students developed and how the application of technology helped meet an increasing need for environmentally sustainable practices in teaching, learning, and research on placement. Publicly available student reflections on significant knowledge and practice benefits gained from their transnational experiences are considered. The study highlights how reflective practice assisted in the enactment of research in online contexts.

Continuous Improvement in an Engineering Technology Capstone Sequence

This paper outlines the continuous improvement enhancements of a two-semester multidisciplinary capstone program tailored for senior students within the School of Engineering Technology. These courses revolve around collaborative teamwork and focus on the development of innovative solutions for industry-sponsored projects. The overarching goal of these courses is to facilitate a seamless transition for students into their professional careers. One area that students often struggle with is developing professional skills (including communication and teamwork), which are required components evaluated in ABET accreditation and are necessary for graduates as they begin and progress across their careers. The Plan-Do-Check-Act continuous improvement process was used to develop, deploy, and evaluate a series of interventions to enhance the overall Capstone Education experience. This design case will particularly focus on interventions related to fostering professional skills.

The study of the level of professional burnout among pharmacists

Aim. To determine the level of professional burnout among pharmacists in different regions of Ukraine and evaluate the main factors contributing to the occurrence of this condition. Materials and methods. During the study, the methods of system analysis, generalization, comparison, logical analysis, as well as the survey method according to Maslach and the developed author’s questionnaire were used. Results. Most pharmaceutical workers experience fatigue, reduced interest in work and difficulty waking up in the morning, which indicates a high level of occupational stress and burnout. In addition, a significant percentage of respondents complain of emotional exhaustion and depression, which deepens the negative impact on their motivation. The main factors contributing to burnout are job monotony, low financial remuneration, workplace conflicts and lack of proper support from colleagues and management. In addition, most pharmaceutical workers feel that their work is underestimated, which reduces overall satisfaction with the profession. The consequences of professional burnout are deterioration in the quality of customer service, an increase in the number of errors in the pharmacists’ work, and an increase in staff turnover in pharmacies. Conclusions. The vast majority of pharmacists experience signs of professional burnout, which often forces them to change their workplace or even their field of activity. In order to reduce this phenomenon, it is necessary to take comprehensive measures aimed at optimizing the workload, providing psychological support, creating favorable working conditions and properly evaluating the professional efforts of pharmaceutical workers. Special attention should be paid to the implementation of programs for the development of professional stress management skills.

Pedagogical Principles as the Basis for Multiliteracy Assessment in Literature Learning in Higher Education

The two main topics covered in this paper are the pedagogical principles of multiliteracy as the cornerstone of successful assessment and the ideal forms of literariness in higher education teaching and learning. Evaluating multiliteracy is essential for showing that students have understood the material and proving that they can interact with many genres at the same degree of complexity. These evaluations are also essential for informing decisions about education and curriculum development. Assessments' design must incorporate practical educational concepts to convert theoretical frameworks into proper instruments that guarantee relevance, fairness, and accuracy. Assessments can create a learning environment that supports the development of critical professional skills by upholding solid pedagogical ideas. This study follows Borg and Gall's research and development (R&D) approach, concentrating on the first two phases, Phase 1 (information collection and research) and Phase 2 (planning). It uses needs analysis and research data to direct the evaluation procedure. The results highlight the need to include practical pedagogical components, such as explicit knowledge transformation, real-world practice contexts, and reflective learning, in assessing multiliteracy in literary education. With a heavy emphasis on literary literacy, these guidelines guarantee that evaluations in literary education test critical thinking, creativity, and the capacity to comprehend and produce various types of literacy in addition to content knowledge.

Pelatihan Content Creator dan Video Profesional bagi Siswa SMA/SMK

Purpose: This training for social media content creators and professional video production techniques is conducted with the aim of providing motivation and insights into the tricks and techniques needed to become a content creator. The goal is for the participants, who are high school students, to utilize their gadgets and time more constructively rather than for consumptive purposes. Methodology: The implementation stages include preparation, execution, and reporting. Organized by the Information Systems Department of Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, this training will be held at Campus 3 BSD Unika Atma Jaya on Saturday, November 25, 2023. Targeting 60 to 100 high school students from Banten, the activity will be evaluated using pre-tests and post-tests, calculated manually using the average formula. Results: The result of the training activity went smoothly and achieved the initial target of being attended by 90 active participants. The selection of speakers for the training was also appropriate, matching their expertise, and they were able to deliver the material clearly using various real-life examples. The evaluation results of the activity showed that the post-test scores increased by 43.7% compared to the pre-test scores. Therefore, it can be concluded that the participants understood what was conveyed by the speakers. Limitations: Due to time and budget constraints, the activity was not conducted with direct hands-on practice in the form of a workshop. Additionally, the target participants were limited to the surrounding area, specifically high school students in the Banten region. Contribution: This training gives high school students broader insights, enabling them to use their gadgets and time positively. It also equips them to become content creators by learning professional video production and social media management skills.

Improving primary healthcare quality in China through training needs analysis

The diagnosis and treatment capability levels of healthcare professionals directly affect the overall quality of medical services. Enhancing these capability levels requires strengthening the professional skill training of healthcare workers, especially those in primary care settings in economically underdeveloped areas. To understand the actual needs for professional skill training among primary healthcare workers, thereby providing data support for targeted training initiatives. An online survey was conducted using convenience sampling and subsequently, snowball sampling from May 10, 2023 to January 31, 2024. The survey included 3811 healthcare workers across China, and 3617 valid questionnaires were recovered. Descriptive analysis was used to compare the professional backgrounds and training needs of healthcare workers at different medical facility levels. Univariate and multivariate logistic regression analyses were employed to explore factors influencing the training of primary healthcare workers. The survey revealed that 70.1% of respondents were female, and 94.2% were from medical facilities below the provincial level, with 43.2% from township-level or lower medical facilities. Significant differences were found in age distribution, work experience, professional titles, educational levels, and training needs among provincial/national, prefectural/county, and township levels (P < 0.05). Busy clinical work schedules were the primary barrier to training participation. Most healthcare workers (78.7%) expected more than four training sessions per year, with the optimal frequency being quarterly. The most anticipated training topics among primary care workers were latest medical guidelines, new technologies/skills, and advanced management concepts, with over 80% interest. Compared with prefectural/county-level facilities, primary care workers at grassroots facilities are more significantly impacted by lower professional titles, lower education levels, weaker medical/technical skills, and insufficient specialized funding (odds ratio > 1, P < 0.001). Training should be tailored to the needs of healthcare workers at different medical facility levels. Particularly for primary care settings, providing special funding support and training in the latest medical guidelines, new technologies/skills, and advanced management concepts are important to improve the composition of titles, education, and professional technicians.

Cybersecurity Threats in Healthcare IT: Challenges, Risks, and Mitigation Strategies

The healthcare industry's reliance on digital technology to improve patient care, operations, and performance has exposed it to cybersecurity threats. The extensive capture, storage, and transmission of confidential data by healthcare institutions has led to a significant prevalence of cyber-attacks. The intersection of healthcare and information technology presents considerable challenges, with patient privacy, the security of medical devices, and the continuity of essential healthcare services all at risk. This study offers a contemporary contextual analysis of IT cybersecurity concerns within the healthcare sector. It employs a systematic methodology to delineate critical risk factors and threats, the strategies they might utilize to attain their compromise aims, and the repercussions they may impose on healthcare delivery. It also explores the measures and guidelines to address this risk. The study highlights the existence of many threats experienced by healthcare organizations, such as data theft and leakage, ransomware, cyber-attacks in different forms, and contaminated medical equipment. One prominent example is the WannaCry attack on the United Kingdom's National Health Service in 2017. According to the survey, there is a severe scarcity of qualified personnel in healthcare organizations who can defend against cyber threats effectively and efficiently, underscoring the urgent need for skilled professionals in cybersecurity. This analysis also discusses various considerations concerning achieving high availability and protecting data in healthcare businesses. It examines how emerging applications like IoMT enhance the quality of medical services for patients and the security challenges these devices pose. The report evaluates the sufficiency of existing regulatory guidelines in addressing emerging dangers, including HIPAA vulnerabilities. The current definitive framework underscores the critical importance of enhancing cybersecurity within healthcare IT. It elucidates optimal strategies for mitigating cyber hazards by promoting technological prevention, staff training, and adherence to organizational policies. The work emphasizes the necessity for ongoing research, the establishment of collaboration between medical professionals and IT security experts, and the formulation of effective strategies to protect patient information and ensure the continuity of healthcare delivery in the face of increasing cyber-attack threats in digitalization.

Adult Learning: Cluster Analysis of European Union Countries

Lifelong learning, which the European Union especially attaches great importance to for social and economic cohesion, covers not only general and vocational education and training provided through formal and non-formal education, but also learning activities in all areas of life. As an important component of lifelong learning, adult learning includes educational activities designed to develop personal and professional skills and represents the participation of adults in lifelong learning. This study aimed to group the European Union countries in terms of adult learning within the scope of lifelong learning. Thus cluster analysis was performed using Wards and k-means clustering methods, resulting in the identification of four distinct clusters of countries. The analysis identified that Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Spain, and Sweden are in Cluster 1; Belgium, the Czech Republic, Italy, Lithuania, Malta, Portugal, and Slovenia are in Cluster 2; Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Poland, and Romania are in Cluster 3; and Austria, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, and Slovakia are in Cluster 4. Additionally, by assessing the similarities and differences among the groups, it was determined that the countries vary in terms of variables of the participation rate in education and internet use for any learning activity.

Graduating midwifery students' confidence and associated factors to practice: a systematic review of sub-Saharan Africa

Background/Aims With varying midwifery education standards across sub-Saharan Africa, and given the life-saving potential of midwifery, this review explores sub-Saharan African midwifery students' confidence to practice after graduation, as well as the facilitators and barriers that influence their confidence. Methods A systematic review of mixed-methods studies was conducted in June 2023 across four databases: Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Medline, Scopus and Web of Science. No date limitation was applied, and quantitative, qualitative and mixed-methods studies published in English were included. Extracted data were analysed using thematic analysis. Results The search identified 127 articles, 10 of which met the inclusion criteria. Midwifery students in sub-Saharan African nations often lacked the confidence to practice midwifery care competencies once they graduated, and their confidence was impacted by support and supervision, resources, the type of midwifery programme they had attended, the use of simulation during education, their sociodemographic characteristics and the gap between theory and practice. Conclusions Articles were limited in number and quality, making it difficult to draw any definitive conclusions. The review highlighted the need for further research to be undertaken on confidence to practice among recently graduated midwifery students in sub-Saharan Africa. Implications for practice Lack of confidence among midwifery students in sub-Saharan African countries can overwhelm and deteriorate the critical skills of midwifery professionals, potentially leading to higher rates of morbidity and mortality for women and children. To increase midwifery students' confidence, it is crucial to identify areas of strength and areas of development to enhance education programs to better equip graduating midwifery students for practice.

Community-dwelling older people's experiences of advance care planning with health care professionals: a qualitative systematic review.

The objective of this review is to examine community-dwelling older people's experiences of advance care planning with health care professionals. The importance of health care professionals initiating advance care planning for patients has been reported; however, because of the shift from institutionalized to community care, community-dwelling older people have fewer opportunities to discuss these plans with health care professionals compared with those living in other settings. The timely initiation of advance care planning and sustainable discussions among older people, their families, and community health care professionals is necessary and may improve palliative and end-of-life care. Studies with participants aged 60 years and older who have experience with advance care planning and live in their own homes in the community were included. We considered qualitative studies and the qualitative component of mixed methods studies published between January 1999 and April 2023 in English or Japanese. MEDLINE, CINAHL, Embase, PsycINFO, JSTORE, Scopus, Japan Medical Abstract Society, and CiNii were searched for published papers, and Google Scholar, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global, and MedNar were searched for unpublished papers and gray literature. Study selection, critical appraisal, data extraction, and data synthesis were conducted by 2 independent reviewers using the JBI approach and JBI standardized tools. Findings were pooled using a meta-aggregation approach. The synthesized findings were graded using the ConQual approach for establishing confidence in the output of qualitative research syntheses and presented in a Summary of Findings. Five studies published between 2017 and 2022 were included in the review. Each study's total score was between 6 and 8 out of 10 on the JBI critical appraisal checklist for qualitative research. We extracted 28 findings and aggregated them into 7 categories, generating 3 synthesized findings: i) A trusting relationship with health professionals is essential for older people's decision-making. Health professionals' attitudes, knowledge, and skills play a role in this, influencing the perceived quality of care; ii) Shared decision-making and patient-centered communication are essential. Older people feel ambiguity toward end-of-life decision and advance care planning and they want their wishes to be heard in any situation to maintain their autonomy and quality of life; iii) Older people need the appropriate forms and accessible and coordinated care to begin advance care planning. Qualitative studies on community-dwelling older people's experiences of advance care planning with health care professionals are scarce. The experiences have illustrated that trusting relationships influence people's perception of the quality of care they receive; there is uncertainty about their future; and they have varying feelings or attitudes toward their impending death, including denial and avoidance. This review highlighted the need for appropriate forms, and accessible and coordinated care to begin advance care planning; thus, an approach that meets the individual's health and psychosocial status should be selected carefully. Further research is recommended to include older populations from broader geographical and cultural backgrounds and to assess and evaluate the different advance care planning approaches and their implementation processes among groups of community-dwelling older people with different health and psychosocial statuses.
