Porous CuCr1-xFexO2 (x = 0 – 1) solid solution powders were successfully prepared by glycine nitrate process without post-annealing treatment or ambient control. The structure of the powders was confirmed by X-ray diffraction. The morphology of the powders was observed by scanning electron microscopy. The morphology varied from cotton candy-like to coral-like with increases in iron (x) content. The specific surface area of self-combusted CuCr1-xFexO2 (x = 0 – 1) powders varied from 25.723 m2/g to 4.94 m2/g with increases in iron (x) content, which is greater than the specific surface area of powders prepared by solid state reaction.
