Management is the cornerstone of running and overseeing an organization in everyday life. Communication management is one of the pivotal factors for achieving organizational goals. From a communication perspective, such activities are evident in every aspect of daily life. Celebrating the ideals of organizational communication management is crucial amid the proliferation of technology. If left unchecked, this could lead to a breakdown of harmony. Therefore, the concept of religious tolerance should permeate social media to guide effective communication in the social sphere. A communication strategy that embraces diversity is essential for maintaining and strengthening community unity. Through this process, individuals engage in transmitting and receiving messages, thereby adapting to one another. The role of communication in organizational management entails attention to both organizational culture (the values, beliefs, and assumptions characterizing the organization) and organizational climate (evidence of behaviors shaping perceptions of various policies and practices), particularly concerning security. Communication management emphasizes the professional roles and strategic contributions of individuals to the organization. While many patterns in communication management systems and structures remain unexplored, communication management, especially in educational and strategic communication, has largely been built on approaches wherein organizations communicate clearly and consistently. Communication management serves as the primary guiding principle for organizations in their interactions with the external public, affirming the unity of people. Meanwhile, employees' communicative roles are chiefly relevant within the internal context of the organization."

Business models for communication departments: a comprehensive approach to analyzing, explaining and innovating communication management in organizations

PurposeThe question of whether and how communication departments contribute to organizational value creation has rarely been addressed in research. Such evidence is crucial, however, as communications compete internally with other functions (e.g. marketing and human resources (HR)) for budgets and staff. This article fills the gap by applying the business model concept, an established approach from management theory and practice, to communication units.Design/methodology/approachBased on an interdisciplinary literature review, the authors propose the Communication Business Model (CBM) as a new management approach for communications. To this end, pertinent definitions, frameworks and typologies of business models are analyzed and combined with insights from corporate communications literature.FindingsThe CBM outlines the generic architecture of business models for communication departments. Such models describe the basic principles of how such a unit operates, what services and products it provides, how it creates value for an organization and what revenues and resources are allocated.Research limitations/implicationsThe approach stimulates the debate on communication units as objects of observation when researching communication management practices. Further research with appropriate empirical methods is needed to identify and study different types of business models for communications.Practical implicationsThe CBM can be used as a management tool to analyze, explain and innovate communication management in organizations. It is a fertile approach for communication practitioners to make the work of their department visible and to position themselves internally and externally.Originality/valueTransferring a well-known concept from general management to communication management enriches the value creation debate in theory and practice. It allows communication leaders to align their work with organizational goals and make it accessible to top management and other decision-makers in the organization. It also opens up new avenues for research and education.

SISTEM MANAJEMEN KOMUNIKASI ORGANISASI PADA GERAKAN KAMPUNG AL QUR’AN

Implementation in mobilizing students in the field of da'wah in Indonesia is very diverse. As implemented by the Al-Qur'an Village Movement which promotes the Al-Qur'an to remote villages in Indonesia. This activity involves active students who memorize the Qur'an as preachers and da'iyah who are sent to villages to teach the Qur'an by inviting children and the community to join in reciting the Koran. The Al Qur'an Village Movement is under the auspices of the Al Qur'an Village Foundation in broadcasting and preaching bil qur'an. This study examines the organizational communication management system in the Al Qur'an Village Movement. So the purpose of this study is to find out the management system for the Al-Qur'an Kampung Movement by using a qualitative approach to Rensis Likert theory with the results of the study that the organizational communication management system for the Al-Qur'an Kampung Movement uses a consultative scheme by embracing friends who are responsible for performance. So the Al Qur'an Village Movement is able to run this system well

MANAJEMEN HAMBATAN KOMUNIKASI ORGANISASI HIMPUNAN MAHASISWA ISLAM (HMI) DALAM MEMBANGUN KEPEMIMPINAN TRANSFORMATIF

The purpose of this research is to find out the management of organizational communication
 obstacles of the HMI Central Board for the period 2021-2023 in building transformative
 leadership, as well as to find out the organizational communication strategy in this process. The
 approach used is qualitative with descriptive method. In the early stages, from the time HMI
 Center put forward a discourse on transformative leadership to the rise of public demands
 regarding the issue of HMI's existence in various new media, the organizational communication
 strategy used was the pull model. This model is focused on developing leadership capacity at the
 central level that is pro-active and adaptive in absorbing external aspirations, objectifying
 demands and socializing moderate Islamic organizational communications. As for the
 phenomena of leadership disruption at various layers which are very dynamic, the push
 organizational communication strategy is used. This is intended to build leadership that has a
 target of innovation and creativity in fostering cadres in all branches. This push strategy is also
 an inspiration for HMI Center in expanding cadre development partners, both bureaucrats,
 scholars, mass organizations and academics, due to increasingly complex role demands due to
 carrying the label of Islam in the organization

Effective communication management in a public health crisis: lessons learned about COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of health communication executives

PurposeThe purpose of the study is to provide insights on the COVID-19 pandemic communication from the lessons learned by health communication executives—how they perceived the COVID-19 pandemic and recommend preparing for communication management of future public health crises.Design/methodology/approachA number of top health communication executives in the United States, who worked in the healthcare industry for at least 25 years and held titles like director, president and chief strategist, were interviewed for their unique perspectives on the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used the contingency theory of strategic conflict management for qualitative deductive analysis of the following segmentations of key factors that drove organizational communication management decision making during the pandemic: organization characteristics, relationship characteristics, general external climate, external publics and the issue under question.FindingsHealth communication executives heavily relied on their past health communication experiences, which led to nuanced understandings of the COVID-19 pandemic. Practically, the health communication executives urged future practitioners to constantly assess risks, hire and use diverse and representative decision-makers; set a communication protocol; and keep the communication in perspective. Theoretically, the contingency theory is furthered—there appears to be a theoretical linkage between the construct of general external climate and the construct of the external public.Originality/valueThe unique perspectives of top health communication executives, based in the United States, provided in-depth insights on the COVID-19 pandemic—its nuances, challenges and main influences (e.g. political, racial, etc.). These takeaways and recommendations can be adapted by other organizations and future health communicators in other parts of the world.

The Theory of Independent-Mindedness: Three Decades of Research on Organizational Communication Effectiveness

The purpose of this article is to review over three decades of research supporting the organizational communication management theory known as the Theory of Independent-Mindedness. The theory is especially productive in assessing superior-subordinate communication for organizations located within individualistic cultures. The article synthesizes extant research on the Theory of Independent-Mindedness. The research reviewed in this article provides empirical support for the theory’s premises in that cultural congruity must be present between the macro-culture (larger culture within which the organization operates) and the micro-culture (the culture developed within the specific organization). Several studies clearly indicate that independent-minded employees report being more satisfied and committed to their organization, and advocate communication skills training for organizational members at all levels.

Manajemen Komunikasi Organisasi Kantor Pelayanan Pajak Pratama Bengkalis Dalam Kegiatan Penerimaan Surat Pemberitahuan Tahunan Pajak Penghasilan

The purpose of this study was to analyze organizational communication management, communication barriers, and efforts to overcome communication barriers faced by tax officials and taxpayers in the implementation of activities for receiving Annual Tax Returns (SPT) Income Tax (PPh) at the Pratama Bengkalis Tax Office (KPP). The theory used: the theory of communication management and organizational communication. This study uses a constructivist paradigm with a qualitative approach. The research subjects totaled 107 employees and the determination of informants was carried out using a purposive technique, so that 7 (seven) informants were obtained. The results of the study show that organizational communication management includes 4 stages: planning, by setting activity targets; organizing, namely dividing the work; actuating, namely providing direction and motivating; and controlling by observing the implementation of activities in the field, providing solutions, and evaluating. Communication barriers include internal barriers in the form of horizontal communication between employees. External barriers, namely public communication to organizations, such as remote locations for taxpayers to consult and network disruptions; and organizational communication to audiences, such as decoding, communicative, technical, language differences, perception, and psychosocial barriers. Efforts to overcome this by optimizing services through face-to-face and media socialization, providing additional service posts, building intensive personal communication between employees, creating a sense of empathy between tax officials and taxpayers, and optimizing the role of opinion leaders.

Effective school organizational communication management: Descriptive study at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Yogyakarta

Organizational communication management determines the effectiveness of an educational institution. Good communication in educational organizations will make a school more effective. Conversely, without good organizational communication management, miscommunication often occurs. This article aims to analyze and describe organizational communication management at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 1 Yogyakarta as one of the leading schools in the city of Yogyakarta. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study show that for superior schools, communication within the organization is vital in school management. As a top school, the management of MAN 1 Yogyakarta carries out various ways to improve achievement through organizational communication management. One of them is by creating a healthy flow of information for all components of the school. Leaders also innovate in the form of a special team that acts as a communication "bridge" that specifically handles and improves school performance. MAN 1 devotes all efforts to continuously improve school performance. This is because MAN 1 management assesses that achievement is a very important indicator of the quality and effectiveness of an educational institution.

Organizational Communication Management at PT. Paramount Enterprise International in Efforts to Increase Product Sales

Communication has grown widely and has entered all aspects as well as levels ranging from interpersonal communication to organizational communication. Communication management carried out by the leadership of PT. Paramount Enterprise International is basically an important point in today's market competition. It is known that during the Covid-19 Pandemic the sales level of PT. Paramount Enterprise International demonstrates stability. This shows that communication is going well between the implementing human resources both between leaders and subordinates, related divisions, and between staff. All parties in the company can understand the message from the company's leaders well, so that the company's goals expected by the company's leaders can be achieved. This type of research is descriptive with a qualitative approach, with data collection methods used namely through interviews and direct observation. Data collection techniques are carried out through data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions.The results of this study indicate that organizational communication management is very effective in providing appropriate information to all levels within the company. So that the purpose of PT. Paramount Enterprise International to increase sales can be understood by all members of the company, from the leader down to the grassroots. Organizational communication is carried out very directed and centered on one direction, namely the company leader. Through communication networks and organizational communication channels, it helps the overall dissemination of information.

Evaluating the use of Facebook among Mexican and global companies: A comparative study

Social networks have improved communications between organizations and their stakeholders. They enabled companies to adopt more active approaches as they could engage with users through digital media. This study aims to analyse whether companies operating in Mexico (hereafter called ‘Mexican companies’) and companies operating worldwide (hereafter called ‘global companies’) have an active presence on Facebook, and thus assess their level of participation on the social network. The main results indicate that companies generally have a large presence and frequent activity on Facebook, but rarely promote interaction and conversation. However, Mexican companies have a more active presence and participation than global companies comparatively. The study presents an x-ray of organizational communication management in Mexico and worldwide in the social network. Likewise, it provides some interesting professional contributions.

La comunicación en los planes estratégicos de bibliotecas universitarias españolas

En este trabajo se estudian los planes estratégicos de bibliotecas universitarias españolas, en concreto de 47 bibliotecas de titularidad pública. La parte esencial del estudio se ha centrado en analizar las alusiones a la comunicación para proceder a un análisis comparado entre los diferentes textos y comprobar los aspectos de la gestión de la comunicación organizacional que reflejan. Del conjunto de bibliotecas analizadas, 28 emplean planes estratégicos, de los cuales el 85,7 % abordan aspectos relacionados con la comunicación. La información más precisa y detallada se localiza en las acciones (o estrategias) y en algunos de los objetivos. Se ponen de manifiesto las prioridades que presentan por ejemplo las relacionadas con los planes de difusión y marketing; las mejoras en la comunicación interna del personal bibliotecario; o la comunicación con los usuarios, etc.

Sistematización de los artículos de grado de las especializaciones en comunicación de la UAC

Los artículos de revisión, reflexión e investigación hacen parte de los requisitos de grado para los estudiantes de las especializaciones en Comunicación de la Universidad Autónoma del Caribe. Teniendo en cuenta el firme propósito del aseguramiento de la calidad de ambas especializaciones se hace necesario la sistematización y el análisis de los trabajos de grados, el ejercicio nos permite establecer con precisión las temáticas más y menos utilizadas, y los resultados serán pieza clave en aras de aportar a la elaboración de nuevos proyectos de grado y la contribución a la estructuración e implementación de nuevos contenidos curriculares definidos dentro de los hilos conceptuales en Gerencia de la Comunicación Organizacional y Gerencia de la Comunicación para el Desarrollo Social. Para la sistematización y análisis de los trabajos de grado se empleará el software estadístico para las ciencias sociales y humanas SPSS. A partir de ello, se identificaron áreas sobre las cuales es prudente profundizar con la intención de que se mejoren, como es la búsqueda constante y la calidad de la educación ofrecida en estos posgrados.

Análisis de la Gestión de Comunicación Organizacional en empresas vinculadas a normas de comercio seguro

Las empresas vinculadas al comercio exterior en Ecuador enfrentan retos importantes para mejorar sus flujos de comunicación y, de esta manera lograr ser más eficaces y seguros en el desarrollo de sus actividades cotidianas. Actualmente, los costos de estas empresas se ven afectados por falencias en dichos flujos, lo que desencadena en ineficiente rotación de inventarios, pérdidas de producción, robos, pérdidas de tiempo y esfuerzo del personal, actividades ilícitas; situaciones que pudieran evitarse con el manejo de una trazabilidad eficiente de la comunicación en el manejo de la carga, de modo que se tomen acciones inmediatas ante situaciones imprevistas. El proceso investigativo desarrollado, pretende analizar la Gestión de la comunicación organizacional en este tipo de empresas vinculadas a las normas BASC “Business Alliance for Secure Commerce” para un comercio seguro en la República del Ecuador. Se aplicó el enfoque cualitativo de tipo descriptivo apoyado en investigación documental y en encuestas estructuradas para validar los elementos de la comunicación organizacional. Se pudo verificar que no todos los elementos de la gestión de la comunicación están integrados en las normas de seguridad mencionadas, ante lo cual se propone la reestructuración del capítulo específico a ser considerado en la publicación de versiones futuras.

This study aims to analyze the marketing communication management of the City of Amil Zakat (BAZNAS) of Samarinda City in the implementation of zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) to the community in the city of Samarinda and surrounding areas. The method used in this research is a qualitative descriptive method through data collection techniques, namely interviews, observation, and literature review. The results of this study indicate that Baznas organizational communication management includes planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluating. Marketing communication management is carried out to support a series of programs and social activities carried out by Baznas and stakeholders

Comunicación organizacional y reputación digital en organizaciones privadas y del tercer sector de México y España

La reputación corporativa es un recurso intangible fundamental para que cualquier tipo de organización establezca lazos de confianza con sus públicos. Su gestión debe darse en distintos espacios, con estrategias y herramientas de comunicación acordes a las necesidades de sus públicos. Debido al surgimiento del internet, ha emergido la reputación online como un espacio importante de la gestión de la reputación corporativa, presentando nuevos retos a las organizaciones en su comunicación digital. Por ello, esta investigación se centra en evaluar la reputación digital de organizaciones privadas y del tercer sector de México y España en su red social facebook, con el fin de comparar entre estos dos sectores y países quienes realizan una mejor gestión de su comunicación organizacional. Se realizó a través de un análisis de contenido cuantitativo, en una muestra de 200 organizaciones. Los principales hallazgos fueron que las organizaciones privadas y del tercer de México y España presentan importantes retos en la gestión de su reputación online en su red social facebook.

A Reflective Essay on What Public Relations Is: Its Role in Strategic Communication Management in Organizations and MNCs

This article has the objective of clarifying what public relations is all about in connection with how large corporate entities or MNCs manage or handle strategic communications. In the past, we have seen the demise of large Multinational Corporations due to scandals and failure to handle crisis such as oil spills, handling clients’ money during global financial crunch such as the sub-prime mortgage financial crisis of 2007-2009. That crisis saw the demise of huge corporations such as Lehman Brothers, Anderson & Anderson, Freddie Mae, and Freddie May, among others. Failure to handle various publics and interest groups strategically can spell the doom of a company or a nation. This article took an exploratory approach since the authors wrote the article for a master’s course and not as professionals in public relations. The methodology adopted was that of desk research based on secondary data sources accessed from books, the internet and journal articles. The author also did a lot of observations and reflection to come up with the insights expressed in this paper. The paper was also approached from a multidisciplinary point of view to give it breadth. The findings and conclusions are that in modern times, corporations and nations should utilize the speed, flexibility, transparency, interactivity, global reach, and easy accessibility of Social Media to engage various publics in a crisis in order to gain credibility and show their human and humane qualities of empathy, humility and readiness for fruitful discourse and dialogue. However, CEOs and political leaders such as Presidents of countries are judged by the way they conduct themselves on Social Media such as Facebook or Twitter, and their chances of re-election hinge on their tweets and mis-tweets. On Social Media, users are always called upon to observe netiquette or urbane and civilized behavior.

Organizational Communication Dynamics in the Process of Integrated Information System in Muhammadiyah Healthcare Charity Venture

As a progressing Islamic movement and one of the most prominent Islamic organizations, Muhammadiyah does not only focus on the religious field but also charity ventures in the fields of education, social, and health. Muhammadiyah's potential in developing its charity venture in the health sector is enormous. This study aims to analyze the dynamics of organizational communication in the process of coordinating the integration of the Muhammadiyah health information system. This qualitative research used a case study approach and in-depth interviews, observation, and archival documents, as the data collection technique. This research showed that the integration of health information systems in Muhammadiyah is challenging to realize due to the high potential of the sectoral ego in the process of managing the Muhammadiyah Healthcare Charity Venture (AUMKES). Supervising Council of General Wellbeing (MPKU) as an assembly responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and supervising the management of the health sector in Muhammadiyah needs to strengthen its capacity, especially in the area of organizational communication management. This is because MPKU PPM has not had enough power and legitimacy in uniting the perceptions of each RSMA manager.

Comunicação estratégica? Notas sobre a prática profissional no Brasil a partir de uma análise do perfil dos profissionais de gestão

Este artigo apresenta os perfis de dez profissionais de comunicação evidenciados em pesquisa qualitativa de campo. A partir das características mais frequentemente referenciadas em seus discursos, foi possível organizá-los em três grupos, os autopromotores, os articuladores e os executores, e reconhecer aspectos da atuação do profissional de comunicação na indústria brasileira. Buscamos, então, por meio da revisão bibliográfica, que perpassa pelo reconhecimento do trabalho na contemporaneidade, pelo processo de identificação do sujeito e pelo entendimento da atuação da gestão da comunicação nas organizações, propor uma análise crítica sobre os perfis destes grupos.

Organizational Communication in Public Health Institutions

This paper examined the management of organizational communication in state owned health institutions inGhana. The study revealed that there is a positive relationship between communication and employeescommitment to their jobs. The most preferred tools for communication were memos and meetings in state ownedcompanies. However, monitoring and control of communication was very poor. The study recommends theestablishment of bi-weekly meetings. It is recommend that management of health institutions must monitor toensure adherence to instructions. Organization of regular meetings in the various directories must be encouragedto ensure effective communication.
