This paper examines key theories underlying directed technology integration strategies in education, focusing on objectivist learning approaches. The study reviews and analyzes several influential theories, including B.F. Skinner's behaviorism, Atkinson and Shiffrin's information processing model, Robert Gagne's conditions of learning, and systems theory approaches to instructional design.The analysis reveals how these theories provide conceptual foundations for technology integration in education. Behaviorism emphasizes reinforcement and observable outcomes. Information processing theory explains memory and cognitive processes. Gagne's work highlights conditions for effective learning. Systems approaches offer frameworks for designing technology-enhanced instruction. Conceptualizing Student Experiences of Psychological Safety in Simulation: A Grounded Theory Study.

Simulation-based learning activities have become more prevalent in prelicensure nursing curricula. When following the Simulation Standards of Best Practice, optimal learning conditions can be achieved, including the creation of a psychologically safe learning environment. Yet, the process of how students come to feel psychologically safe during a simulation experience remains unknown. A grounded theory approach was used to conceptualize the basic social process by which nursing students feel psychologically safe during a simulation learning experience. Six categories emerged from the data: (1) being nervous; (2) having a good instructor; (3) learning; (4) coming together; (5) being in debriefing; and (6) leaving on a positive note. The core category of putting myself out there emerged as the basic social process. The social process of psychological safety in simulation develops within nursing students as the result of interplay among several dimensions of the learning experience. Acoustic analysis and control measures for noise in university: a case study of Adrar University, Algeria

The purpose of this research is to investigate the complex dynamics of noise pollution at the University of Adrar-Algeria, with a particular emphasis on the impact that the dry desert climate has on the acoustic environment of the campus. With the goal of cultivating an environment that is characterised by tranquilly, comfort, and optimal conditions for attention, learning, and practical engagement, the research attempts to achieve the goal of enhancing the existing discourse on noise management inside academic institutions. The inquiry makes use of a methodical approach in order to investigate the many climatological characteristics that are unique to the desert climate and that lead to increased noise levels within the university grounds. In addition, the research investigates the ways in which noise emissions from various sources alter inside the confines of Adrar University, taking into account the ways in which the harsh desert climate influences the parameters that control these emissions. The investigation of human behaviour patterns is relevant to this investigation. In particular, the investigation will focus on instances of protracted assemblage in air-conditioned places, which correlates with increased noise levels. In light of the fact that noise control is an essential component of the academic environment, the research being conducted at the University of Adrar includes the collection of questionnaires, the administration of on-site sound measurements, and the creation of an all-encompassing noise map. The findings shed light on the climatic factors that are primarily responsible for the excessive amount of noise that exceeds the standards that are suggested by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

2023 Pauline Cerasoli Lecture: It Takes a Village to Raise a Profession.

Personal and profession-related factors affect graduate transition to practice. Social supports and a sense of belonging are recognized as critical factors affecting success. The need for a professional to postprofessional continuum of learning has been identified. Development of a process to effectively move learners through this continuum are affected by conflicts such as economic issues, varied educational and practice philosophies, and capacity demands for clinical sites and instructors. The purpose of this article was to discuss professional formation as an individual experience that needs environmental support. If we look to the intrinsic needs of the individual to develop effective systems, both individuals and the profession will thrive. The changing demographics of students and factors affecting health care and education offer compelling reasons to reconsider the pathway for early professional development. Education and practice must collaborate to cocreate the foundation for professional formation. Basic needs such as economic security and social belonging must be met to create optimal conditions for learning and growth. The profession has not adopted an intentional pathway for new graduates to meet foundational practice needs. Some new graduates seek residencies, but residencies are focused on specialization and supply does not meet the demand. Strategies to promote success of early career professionals include a professional to postprofessional curriculum with intentional mentorship, changes in the regulatory environment, and formation of effective partnerships to support education and practice.

Peran Guru sebagai Motivator Belajar dan Menanamkan Jiwa Nasionalisme Peserta Didik Sekolah Indonesia Kuala Lumpur (SIKL)

This research aims to get an overview and examine learning motivation and instilling nationalist values in students at the Kuala Lumpur Indonesian School (SIKL). The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. In collecting data, researchers used several techniques, namely through interviews, observation and documentation studies. The data that was collected was analyzed descriptively qualitatively using the constant comparison method and the Constant Comparative Method. The research location is the Indonesian School Kuala Lumpur (SIKL) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The research results show that: (1) The teacher's role is as a motivator and understands the steps that can be taken to achieve optimal learning conditions for students. (2) The role of teachers in teaching nationalist values in classroom learning. (3) The teacher's role is to foster students' love and enthusiasm for nationalist values. (4) The teacher facilitates students to preserve the Indonesian language. (5) The role of the teacher in developing students' nationalistic character and attitudes through the learning process in the classroom and outside the classroom is very important where a PPKN teacher will be able to carry out his obligations and responsibilities if the teacher has first mastered and is able to apply positive behavior to himself so that he can become a role model for his students

Monitoring the psychological component of higher education quality using ICT tools

This study examines the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) to monitor the psychological component of higher education quality. A literature review covers the concepts of higher education quality and its monitoring, the psychological factors involved, and the potential of ICT tools, including Google services. The study details a monitoring procedure using Google Forms to assess indicators like relationships between participants, satisfaction levels, and organisational climate. The computer program “Personnel – Ψ” is also presented as a tool for comprehensive psychological diagnostics of teachers. The advantages of using ICT tools for efficient data collection, analysis and management are discussed. The results demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of using ICT to improve monitoring of the psychological aspects of educational quality and make evidence-based decisions to enhance the educational environment. The use of user-friendly tools like Google Forms facilitates regular assessment of quality indicators and aids institutions in ensuring participant satisfaction and optimal conditions for learning and growth.

BARRIER-FREE EDUCATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: THE ROLE OF INDIVIDUALIZATION OF LEARNING AND HEALTH PROMOTION IN PEDAGOGICAL PRACTICE

Individualization of learning and health promotion play a key role in the implementation of the concept of barrier-free pedagogical practice. The aim of the study was to characterize the features of a barrier-free educational environment, to find out the role of individualization of learning and health protection in pedagogical practice. The article discusses the issues of individualization of learning and health protection in the formation of a barrier-free educational environment, provides examples of pedagogical practices aimed at their implementation, and highlights methods of individualization and health protection to create a favorable environment for the learning and development of each student. It is emphasized that in the modern educational context, creating a barrier-free environment requires taking into account the individual needs and potential of each student. The individualization of learning is aimed at adapting the educational process to the needs of each student, providing them with the opportunity to study in comfortable conditions and develop their potential. Health promotion ensures the physical and mental well-being of students, contributing to their successful learning and development. The strategies and methods of individualization of learning, such as differentiation of tasks, group and individual work, use of various educational materials and technologies are considered. The role of health promotion in pedagogical practice, including the organization of physical activity, psychological support and promotion of a positive psychosocial environment, is highlighted. The mechanisms for ensuring the functioning of a barrier-free educational environment are proposed, its components and factors of individualization of learning are considered. The article provides specific examples of innovative pedagogical practices that promote individualization of learning and contribute to health protection. In particular, the article considers methods of working with different types of tasks, the use of interactive technologies and tools that allow personalizing the learning process (stretching, flipped classroom, project method). It is found that innovative teaching methods are a mechanism for including different categories of students in the educational process. It is concluded that a barrier-free educational environment is a system that provides equal access and equal learning conditions for all students, regardless of their individual characteristics and needs; health protection involves systematic work with the physical and mental health of students, providing them with optimal conditions for learning and development; individualization of learning helps to prevent barriers to learning and promotes the inclusion of different categories of students in the educational process..

Impact of background noise and dysphonia on elementary students' listening comprehension and listening effort

This project investigated how background noise and dysphonic voice impact elementary students' listening comprehension and effort. Listening comprehension is essential for academic success, and this study explored the extent to which adverse conditions hinder sentence comprehension and the mental resources utilized. The experiment used speech material recorded by an actress with normal and dysphonic voice quality. Nineteen 8–12 year-old children participated, using a computer in a laboratory with a talkbox for stimuli and loudspeakers for classroom noise at two signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) of + 6 dB and 0 dB. Listening effort was measured subjectively on a 5-point scale and objectively through response time, the seconds taken to select a figure onscreen. Executive functions like working memory, attention, and inhibitory control were also assessed. Results showed that lower SNR and dysphonia significantly affected comprehension accuracy and increased perceived listening effort. Inhibitory control correlated with increased perceived effort. Similarly, both factors significantly lengthened response times. However, no significant correlations with executive functions were observed for comprehension or response time. In conclusion, background noise and dysphonia significantly affect listening comprehension and effort among elementary students. These findings emphasize the need for educators and policymakers to mitigate these factors for optimal classroom learning conditions.

Examining learning opportunities and perceptions of Latin American ESL learners in varying proficiency‐level groups

AbstractLearner‐to‐learner (peer) interaction has been integral to the second language (L2) classroom since the advent of communicative‐oriented pedagogies. Despite the well‐documented benefits of peer interaction, the extent to which learners benefit may be impacted by a range of factors, particularly their peers’ proficiency levels. Yet studies on the influence of peers’ proficiency have shown contradictory findings and are extensively focused on pairs rather than small groups. Furthermore, although low‐proficiency (LP) learners experience greater impacts from interaction with peers of different proficiency levels, their interactional patterns and perspectives are underexplored. This study investigates how six Latin American learners of English (core learners) co‐created learning opportunities as they interacted with non‐core learners (n = 33) in three proficiency small‐group interactions. A total of 18 group interactions were analysed for language‐related episodes (LREs) and turn‐takings. The results showed that core learners’ (CLs) LREs and turns diminished as their peers’ proficiency increased. However, fewer incorrect LRE resolutions were found when CLs were grouped with high‐proficiency (HP) peers. The CLs also perceived the interaction with HP peers as challenging but important for their L2 development. Additionally, aside from the proficiency level, CLs acknowledged the importance of their peers’ positive attitudes for the success of their interactions. These findings provide important insights into employing mixed‐proficiency groups to create more optimal learning conditions, particularly for LP learners.

Handwriting but not typewriting leads to widespread brain connectivity: a high-density EEG study with implications for the classroom.

As traditional handwriting is progressively being replaced by digital devices, it is essential to investigate the implications for the human brain. Brain electrical activity was recorded in 36 university students as they were handwriting visually presented words using a digital pen and typewriting the words on a keyboard. Connectivity analyses were performed on EEG data recorded with a 256-channel sensor array. When writing by hand, brain connectivity patterns were far more elaborate than when typewriting on a keyboard, as shown by widespread theta/alpha connectivity coherence patterns between network hubs and nodes in parietal and central brain regions. Existing literature indicates that connectivity patterns in these brain areas and at such frequencies are crucial for memory formation and for encoding new information and, therefore, are beneficial for learning. Our findings suggest that the spatiotemporal pattern from visual and proprioceptive information obtained through the precisely controlled hand movements when using a pen, contribute extensively to the brain's connectivity patterns that promote learning. We urge that children, from an early age, must be exposed to handwriting activities in school to establish the neuronal connectivity patterns that provide the brain with optimal conditions for learning. Although it is vital to maintain handwriting practice at school, it is also important to keep up with continuously developing technological advances. Therefore, both teachers and students should be aware of which practice has the best learning effect in what context, for example when taking lecture notes or when writing an essay.

Mastery of English vocabulary is very important in preparing the younger generation to face future challenges. This research investigates the efficacy of using video media, especially animation, as an innovative learning tool for teaching English vocabulary to children. Previous research has shown that video media, including animation, significantly helps children understand and retain English vocabulary. Considering the optimal learning conditions for elementary school students, which are characterized by fun games and experiences, the use of video media is expected to create an interesting learning environment and increase student interest. This research uses a qualitative approach that combines participant observation and documentation. These findings underline the positive impact of video media, especially animation, on English vocabulary acquisition. Challenges such as limited time and teachers' unfamiliarity with using video media are also known. This research determines the influence of teacher motivation factors, parental support, and student activity in the learning process. Furthermore, this research not only highlights the role of video media in teaching English vocabulary but also explores strategies to improve children's learning outcomes and overcome learning barriers.

One of the skills that an educator must have is class management skills. Class management is very important for the continuity of the learning process. Class management is the key to success in learning activities. This research aims to find out how teachers' skills are in managing classes in class IV of SD Negeri 060904 Medan Maimun. This research uses a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques are primary data and secondary data. Primary data sources in this research were obtained through interviews and observations. Meanwhile, secondary data sources are data obtained from library studies such as journals, reports, articles, books and the internet that are related to research. The results obtained from this research are that teacher skills in managing the classroom can be done in two ways, namely: 1) by creating and maintaining ideal or preventive learning conditions, 2) by developing and controlling optimal or repressive learning conditions.

GTM in new era: A reflection on its development and integration with other teaching methods

Relevance. The rapid development of information technologies and the changing educational needs of society require continuous improvement of teaching methods, making the examination of the grammar-translation method (GTM) and its integration with other approaches relevant. This allows identifying the strengths of this method and ways to optimise it in accordance with current challenges.Purpose. The purpose of the study is to explore ways to integrate GTM with other teaching methods, such as the direct method, the audio-lingual method, and the Suggestopedia, to create more effective and comprehensive educational strategies.Methodology. Conceptual modelling, synthesis, and comparison methods were used in the study.Results. The results indicate the prospects of integrating various teaching methods, including GTM, with other approaches such as the direct method, the audio-lingual method, and the Suggestopedia. The study discovered that integrated teaching methods also contribute to actively engaging students in the learning process by stimulating them to work independently, conduct research, and exchange knowledge, thus creating a more dynamic and stimulating learning environment that promotes the development of not only knowledge but also the skills necessary for successful adaptation in modern information society. However, the study also demonstrated that for maximum effectiveness of such programmes, it is important to consider the individual characteristics and needs of each student, which will make the educational process more flexible and efficient, providing students with optimal conditions for learning and development.Conclusions. The results of the study can be used to develop and improve educational programmes, adapt teaching methods to student needs, and optimise the learning process as a whole.

A95UCLH Simulation Centre - Let us show you around: A digital hybrid approach to simulation environment familiarization

It is well established that familiarization with the simulation environment is integral to the pre-brief [1]. This fosters psychological safety and creates optimal learning conditions for participants and faculty. We sought to enrich our visitors’ psychological safety by providing a digital preview of our simulated environment, prior to the face-to-face familiarization they receive when attending a course. Combining 360 and 2D video production techniques we have produced an online experience hosted on the CenarioVR platform. This gives visitors an opportunity to explore the simulated environment, patient and equipment, in their own time, while introducing aspects of the fiction contract. We believe accessibility is key to the utilization of this resource. So we have ensured it can be used on a range of devices including: Virtual Reality Headsets (HTC/Meta) Desktops/ Laptops Mobiles/ Tablets (enhanced with accelerometer controls) The content is cloud-based and accessed via an internet browser across all platforms, requiring no additional app. One limitation is that the experience requires a stable internet connection. A link to the tour was embedded in our pre-simulation communication to participants and faculty, and its usage and impact was evaluated over a period of 2 months using additional questions in our post-course questionnaire. 50 feedback responses to CenarioVR were received. 24 delegates viewed it 26 did not. Of the 24 that viewed 58.3% agreed virtual tour strengthened their experience, 12.5% strongly agreed, 20.8% neutral, 4.2% disagreed and 4.2% strongly disagreed. From our data we concluded that over 70% of delegates that viewed the virtual familiarization found it to be beneficial to their simulation experience. With simulation being used more in education it is imperative that those with less experience in this setting are provided with resources they need to feel psychologically safe. Robots2school: telepresence-mediated learning in the hybrid classroom – experiences in education support for children during cancer treatment: a qualitative study

Children with cancer experience recurring hospitalizations and isolation during treatment, which affect their school attendance. This study explores experiences of children with cancer, their classmates, and teachers with using the telepresence robot as a learning mediator in the hybrid classroom during treatment periods. 31 children with cancer (aged 7–17 years), 30 teachers, and 118 classmates participated in interviews and 19 h of participant observations were undertaken in nine classrooms. The Agential Realism Theory and Situational Analysis framed the data analysis. There was a single overarching theme, “Telepresence robot didactic,“ and five sub-themes (Telepresence mediated learning, school-home collaboration, hybrid robot teaching, intra-actions in class, and inclusive spatiality). This study advocates the complexity of telepresence robot didactics, emphasizing that numerous human and other factors must intra-act and work simultaneously to achieve optimal learning conditions for children during cancer treatment. This includes considerations such as modality availability for the remote child; the teacher’s understanding of telepresence robot didactic and hybrid learning; the classmate’s ability to involve the remote child in groupwork; the child’s own treatment protocol, the robot’s functionalities, and spatiality in the class. Strategies for use and the systematic surveillance of telepresence robots are needed to ensure that children during cancer treatment do not lag in academic achievement. This study proposes that children with cancer can continue participating in class while hospitalized or isolated and consequently reduce social and academic setbacks.

The author's motivation in discussing this title is motivated by problems in classroom management skills that are preventive and curative by fiqh teachers. Based on the initial observations, the authors know that the teacher pays little attention to the behavior of students and approaches students, when there are students who make a fuss, the teacher only reprimands them from the front but does not approach the students so that not long after that the students make a fuss again. The purpose of this study was to describe the teacher's classroom management skills related to the creation and maintenance of optimal (preventive) learning conditions for class VII at MTsN 3 Agam. To describe the teacher's classroom management skills related to the restoration of curative learning conditions for class VII at MTsN 3 Agam. To describe class management skills related to the physical condition of class VII at MTsN 3 Agam. This research uses a type of field research (field research) using a qualitative descriptive approach. This research was conducted at MTsN 3 Agam, IV Koto sub-district, Agam district, West Sumatra. The informants of this study were fiqh teachers and class VII students at MTsN 3 Agam. Collecting research data using observation techniques, interviews, and documentation. The results showed that: Teacher skills in classroom management related to the creation and maintenance of optimal learning conditions (preventive in nature) for class VII at MTsN 3 Agam which were carried out by the teacher had been carried out in accordance with the indicators of classroom management skills, although there were several indicators that were less than optimal and rarely carried out, namely indicators of observing closely and moving closer. The teacher's classroom management skills related to returning optimal (curative) learning conditions for class VII at MTsN 3 Agam have been well implemented, namely the teacher modifies student behavior, solves problems in groups, and finds and solves behaviors that cause problems. The teacher's skills in class management related to the physical condition of class VII at MTsN 3 Agam have been well implemented, namely the teacher has made arrangements for seats, managed class cleanliness, ventilation and lighting in the class.

The Influence of Stress on Student Performance during Simulation-based Learning: A Pilot Randomized Trial.

Simulation-based learning is an important educational medium that is being implemented increasingly for the purpose of improved patient care and safety. However, there is evidence to suggest that simulation-based education (SBE) may increase anxiety, as illustrated through self-reporting and physiological responses. Despite such data, no studies have investigated whether anxiety and stress can be manipulated through SBE scenario design and delivery to facilitate optimal learning conditions. This pilot study examined perceived anxiety and physiological stress experienced by entry-level physiotherapy students while learning a skill using SBE and the relationship between this anxiety and their subsequent skill performance. Final-year physiotherapy students were randomly allocated to one of three SBE experiences: low, medium, or high stress. The experiences were designed to induce increasing levels of stress and anxiety. Performance of the learned skill (endotracheal airway suctioning) was measured after the SBE using a bespoke assessment form. Cortisol levels, heart rate, and perceived anxiety measurements (State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and visual analog scale) were also collected. Twenty-seven participants completed the trial. There were significant differences in perceived stress and physiological response between the groups. The low-stress group demonstrated significantly better performance of airway suctioning than the higher-stress groups (P = 0.02). Higher anxiety was correlated with poorer skill performance (r = -0.410). Students report SBE to be stressful, and scenarios themselves can influence the stress and anxiety experienced. Greater stress is associated with poor learning outcomes during SBE. Healthcare educators involved in SBE scenario design need to consider the stress levels experienced. Future research to determine optimal stress and embed measurement of stress in SBE experiences is warranted.

Cognitive individual differences in the process and product of L2 writing

AbstractThis paper examines how research in second language acquisition has approached the study of cognitive individual differences in the process and product of L2 writing from a theoretical and empirical perspective, paying special attention to the three empirical studies included in this special issue. The paper is divided into three sections. The first section examines the cognitive abilities that have been investigated in L2 writing research, among which working memory stands out as the most widely studied. The second section synthesizes the findings reported by the empirical studies in this issue in relation to the role of working memory in L2 writing behaviors and outcomes. The last section suggests future lines of research that can broaden the current scope of research on writing and cognitive individual differences, mostly centered on the components of the working memory system. This research has important theoretical implications, as little is known about how different cognitive individual differences are implicated in writing, as well as pedagogical implications, as the findings can inform about optimal performance and learning conditions for learners with diverse cognitive ability profiles.

The author proposes a comprehensive program, ready to be implemented throughout the school year, using a number of methods, such as CLIL, peer learning, didactic station method, or visual thinking. The program draws on the latest achievements and experiences of neuroeducation, which tries to provide the student with the most optimal conditions for learning, focusing on brain-friendly aspects and developing passion and interest in the student."
