Developing Reading Material Based on Local Culture at SMP Negeri 32 Medan

Integrating local culture into the process of learning a foreign language has only recently begun to draw attention. Therefore, local culture-based English reading materials are a solution to attract students' interest in reading English. The objectives of this research are to develop the students’ English reading materials based on local culture at SMPN 32 Medan, to find out the validation of English reading material based on local culture at SMPN 32 Medan, and to explain the effectiveness of English reading material based on local culture at SMPN 32 Medan. This research adapted the R&D model proposed by Sugiyono (2013) with some modifications. The data was taken from students and teachers of SMPN 32 Medan and also expert judgment from Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan. The instruments of this research are questionnaire, documentation and test. The result of validation from the material expert judgment is 91.66% and the material expert judgment is 85.71%. It means that the product in very high category. The result of validation from the teacher is also high category, 88.63% . In addition, the product was also tested on students and the results showed a significant increase in scores after the students learned using the local culture-based reading materials. Unit 1 increased up to 10.36%, Unit 2 increased up to 12.15%, Unit 3 increased up to 14.06% and Unit 4 increased up to 15.26%. The average score of students, which was previously the highest at 78, increased to 89. The conclusion based on the research results shows that these English reading materials can be adopted as teaching materials as additional learning for English lessons that are interesting, contextual, and adapted to the Merdeka curriculum.

The Development of English Public Speaking Teaching Material Based on Interpersonal Intelligence for Fifth Semester Students of English Education Department of Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah

This research aimed to describe the development, the validity, and the effectiveness of English public speaking based on interpersonal intelligence to overcome the difficulties. The method of this research was mixed qualitative and quantitative description research with test and questionnaire to collect the data. The object of this research was the 5A semester students at University of Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah. This research was carried out for 2 months. During this research the researcher found that public speaking material based on interpersonal intelligence can improve students’ public speaking ability in terms of self- confidence, mastering the topic, delivering the messages or ideas through verbal and non-verbal. The development material will make it easier for lecturer to teach public speaking and also be able to connect well between students and lecturer. Based on the research conducted, the result is the learning tools and the media developed are feasible to be used and applied in the learning process in the classroom with the final validation from material expert 87% and media expert 92,5%. Besides, the effectiveness of the learning method applied in this research shows the results of the calculation is 75% effective

Mengukur Kualitas Layanan Perpustakaan Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah Medan Menggunakan Metode Libqual

This research discusses measuring the quality of library services at the Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah University of Medan using the Libqual method. The aim of the research is to determine the service quality of the Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan University Library based on three libqual dimensions, namely Affect of Service, Information Control and Library as Place. This type of research is quantitative research with a descriptive approach. The data collection technique in this research was carried out through distributing questionnaires. The sample in this study was 3,159 users of the Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan Muslim University Library from 2021, who were limited using the Slovin formula, so the number of respondents was 97 people. The sampling technique in this research used non-random accidental sampling. The results of this research show that service quality is based on the Affect of Service aspect, users are quite satisfied with the quality of library services or have met the minimum expectations of users with a positive adequancy gap (AG) at a score of 0.03 and the quality of library services is considered good but has not met ideal expectations. what the user wants or is in the tolerance zone with the superiority gap (SG) being negative at a score of -1.01. Based on the Information Control aspect, users are quite satisfied with the quality of library services or have met the minimum expectations of users with a positive adequancy gap (AG) at a score of 0.05 and the quality of library services is considered good but has not met the ideal expectations desired by users or is in the tolerance zone with the superiority gap (SG) being negative at a score of -1.07. Based on the Library as Place aspect, users are quite satisfied with the quality of library services or have met the minimum expectations of users with a positive adequancy gap (AG) at a score of 0.16 and the quality of library services is considered good but has not met the ideal expectations desired by users or is in the zone tolerance with superiority gap (SG) is negative at a score of -1.11.

Analyzing Teachers’ Perception on the Implementation of the Assessment Process in Merdeka Curriculum

This study aims to describe the teachers’ perception on the implementation of the assessment process in Merdeka curriculum. A qualitative approach was used to analyze data of the study. This research was conducted in nine teachers that following PPG Dalam Jabatan Gelombang II 2023 in Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah. In the data analysis, a detailed description of teachers’ perceptions was analyzed. The data obtained from interviews were transcribed and then interpreted. The transcription of the interview and observation were coded into categories. Then the categorized data was argumentatively analyzed and described. The results of data analysis showed that teachers prepared teaching module to implementing the teaching and learning processes in the classroom. The teaching module consist of the assessment for Diagnostic Cognitive and Diagnostic NonCognitive, Project-based assessments, Performance assessments, Formative assessments, Summative assessments after the students have finished their learning. The collected data are examined through the application of descriptive statistical methods. The knowledge, attitudes, and abilities that students acquire during learning activities determine their learning outcomes. A school report based on the Merdeka Curriculum school report application presents the students’ learning outcomes. As a result, most teachers are aware of the Merdeka Curriculum's assessment requirements and have completed them.

An Analysis of Daily Mixed Language Conversation in Assisting The Sixth Semester Students' of English Education Department Speaking Skills at Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah Medan

In everyday life, people sometimes communicate with other people with mixed language and also as nowadays trend in social. There are words in English that commonly used in our daily conversation as Indonesian people to make the sentences clear and easy to be understood. This study aims to analyze the improvement of speaking skills through the habit of mixing languages in daily communication and conversation activities. The purpose of this research is to explain about the effect of mixed language in improving students' speaking skills and increasing their self-confidence. The researcher uses observation and interview approach to do the data collection of the sixth semester student in English Education Department Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan. The respondents were five students of the sixth semester students in English English Education Department Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan.

Anxiety about English Public Speaking in the Students of English Education Department

Speaking in spoken English is the act of conveying information or expressing thoughts and feelings. This study described how to analyze students' speaking fear in English Public Speaking at eighth semester Muslim Nusantara University Al-Washliyah Medan English Education Department. The qualitative research method was applied in this study. The researcher employed observation, interview, and questionnaire to gather the data. Three main stages of data analysis were used by the researcher: data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing verification. Following a study of the data, the researcher came to the following conclusions about speaking fear among students at eighth semester Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah Medan English Education Department: First, the researcher discovered that the following factors contributed to students' speaking anxiety in English Public Speaking: self-prediction of fear, illogical faith, oversensitivity to threat, anxiety sensitivity, incorrect attribution of body signal, and low self-efficacy. Second, students' lack of speaking confidence in English, fear of making mistakes when speaking, nervousness when the teacher asks them to speak up, and shyness to perform in front of the class are the causes of students' speaking anxiety.

Mengurangi Penyebab Plagiat pada Tugas Akhir Semester Melalui Bimbingan Kelompok Mahasiswa BK Universitas Muslim Nusantara Alwashliyah

This study aims to find out the description of the causes of plagiarism in the final semester assignments carried out by guidance and counseling students. Plagiarism behavior is imitating, imitating, quoting writings, work or other people's work either intentionally or unintentionally in completing exam assignments or making papers without including proper and adequate sources to obtain learning grades. The method used is an observational and qualitative approach. The sample in this study were students in the 5th semester of counseling guidance, totaling 6 students from the Muslim Nusantara Alwashliyah University. Verbatim dialogue and questionnaire results show that from observations before cycle I to cycle II there has been an increase in reducing the habit of plagiarism.

ERRORS IN TRANSLATING THESIS ABSTRACTS BY THE STUDENTS OF MUSLIM NUSANTARA AL-WASHLIYAH UNIVERSITY, BASED ON LARSON’S THEORY OF MEANING

The objective of the research was to analyze some errors in translating thesis abstracts from Indonesian to English and vice versa. They were written by the students of some faculties at the Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah, Medan, such as the Faculty of Letters, FKIP (the Faculty of Teacher’s Training and Pedagogy), and others. The research used qualitative approach, , and the theory of Larson’s translation process concerning diction (choice of words), phrases, incomplete or dangling sentences, grammar, etc. The data were obtained from the texts found in the abstracts of even semester, 2019. The data were gathered, sorted out, and analyzed to be used as the samples which were gathered in the form of tables. The gathered data were then verified by adjusting them to the objective of the research. The research was focused on the texts of abstracts in the translation process and its products by conducting library research and descriptive qualitative analysis. The data themselves consisted of primary and secondary data. It was expected that the result of the research could be the reference for the students in translating their abstracts by, of course, consulting their seniors and professional translators. The result of the research showed that the most dominant errors in the students’ thesis abstracts was in grammar (62.8%) followed by style (24%).

Tertiary Students’ Perception of Mobile Legend Game on Vocabulary Mastery

The phenomenon of mobile legend is quite widespread among tertiary students,because all of this game this game is using English, unique, and everyone interested to play this game. . The purpose of this research was to investigate students' perceptions of mobile legends on vocabulary. A qualitative research method with thematic analysis was applied in this research and the subjects of this research were four students of the Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah. Coming to different departments namely; 2 English students with higher experience in learning English, and 2 non English students with less experience in learning English. Based on the result of interview, there were four themes found, namely; Curiosity,Interaction,Obstacle,Confidence, it is implied that all of the EFL students’ have the same level in the curiosity and confidence theme, therefore all of the EFL students’ had the different level in interaction and obstacle. It turned out that the educational background had an impact on this research.

IMPROVING THE ABILITY TO WRITE Fiction PROSA (SHORT STORY) USING INTERACTIVE LEARNING MEDIA SEMESTER 7A PBSI UNIVERSITY OF MUSLIM NUSANTARA AL WASHLIYAH YEAR 2020/2021

This study aims to determine the ability to write prose fiction and drama by applying the use of video-based interactive learning media in the 7 semester of PBSI, University of Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah year 2020/2021. The research method used in this research is quantitative descriptive method using Classroom Action Research (CAR). The population in the study amounted to 91 in 7 semester students of the PBSI Department at the Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah University. The sample in this study was 32 students in semester 7A PBSI University of Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah year 2020/2021. Before carrying out cycle I, the initial test obtained an average score of 66.9, or the percentage of outcome assessment (PPH) of 66.9%. The next step is to carry out the action with II cycles. In cycle II, the average score of 72.4, or the percentage of outcome assessment (PPH) of 72.4%, is higher than the initial test, but has not met the target of implementing the action. To achieve better learning, reflection is carried out for further action. Then proceed to cycle II with an average value of 80.4, or the percentage of outcome assessment (PPH) of 80.4%. The target for the implementation of the measures was an average of 70 individually and classically. This means that there is a very significant increase

Analisis Ward and Peppard Model Pada Strategi Bisnis dan Perencanaan Strategis Sistem Informasi

Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah University is a private university that already has information system technology and information technology as an effort to improve the competitiveness of higher education. However, the existence of the existing information system is still not perfect so that work becomes inefficient. Therefore, this research was conducted to make strategic planning of information systems so as to increase the competitiveness of higher education institutions. The model used in strategic planning in this study is the Ward and Peppard model. The strategic plan is drawn up for a timeframe of 2 phases. The process begins with Internal and External Business Analysis through SWOT Analysis, Value Chain Analysis, PEST Analysis and testing of strategy results using the Profile Matching method which is the choice to provide an assessment of recommended information system applications. There are three aspects in conducting the assessment and evaluation, namely new aspects, develop and continue.

The role of moderation of organizational support on social capital effects on performance of lecturers

This study aims to determine how the Model of Improvement of Lecturer Performance Based on Social Capital and Organizational Support at Private Islamic Universities in Medan City. This research is basic research. The study population was all permanent lecturers of Islamic Private Universities in Medan i.e. University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara, Islamic University of North Sumatra, University of Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah, Al-Washliyah University and Al-Azhar University. However, this study only limited to Islamic universities owned by Islamic Foundation or Islamic Organization i.e. University of Muhammadiyah Sumatera Utara and University of Muslim Nusantara which amounted to 425 permanent lecturers who have functional positions as expert assistants, senior lectures and associate professors. The sampling technique in this study is the proportional random sampling with 129 samples used. The data analysis method used in this study is moderating regression analysis (MRA). The results showed that social capital had a positive and significant effect on lecturer performance and organizational support was a moderating relationship between social capital and lecturer performance.

Analisis Yuridis Mengenai Strategi Dosen Terkait Dengan Mutu Pembelajaran Di Perguruan Tinggi Masa Era New Normal

The scope of education is the parties that are involved in the sphere of education such as proteges/students/college students, the basic and the purpose of education itself, educators, educational materials, educational methods, educational evaluation, educational tools and the surrounding environment within the scope of education. Education is also one of the most important parts of human life that has provisions that aim to help the improvement of living standard and life for themselves and for the country. If referring to the Article 31 (amendment) paragraph (1) of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia which states that "Every citizen has the right to education, of course education is meant in principle, learning what we know is based on face to face in the class. to transfer the knowledge to their students (students / college students). The impact of using feedback to increase students’ motivation at the University of Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah Medan

Motivation in learning is very influential in the learning outcomes of each student. The level of motivation to learn is one of the factors that play an important role in increasing one's interest in learning. In this study the researcher tried to see the impact of using verbal and written feedback on individual motivation and interest in learning. This research was conducted descriptively with qualitative methods. Related qualitative researches are used to assist in describing common elements of various forms. Descriptive qualitative research aims to investigate detailed descriptions of people, places, or events in a setting in a qualitative approach. Data were collected from questionnaires and interviews which were distributed to 30 students of the University of Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah, Medan. From the results of the study, it can be concluded that the formative type of feedback is the most chosen type by students and the type of feedback from oneself that is the least chosen. One point here is that feedback is not usually neutral - it often triggers a positive or negative emotional response. In this research, we discuss positive feedback because there is no negative feedback. From the results it can be seen that the positive feedback given by the lecturer can increase student motivation. It can be seen from the interviews that have been conducted and the responses during teaching and learning in class. There is enthusiasm from students in interacting at the end of the lesson.

The relationship of self-confidence and body image with personal fable of students in FKIP Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah

This study took the relationship of self-confidence and body image to students at FKIP UMN Alwashliyah. In this case, self-confidence and body image as independent variables and personal fable as dependent variables. Adolescence is one of the stages in human life which is a period of transition from childhood to adulthood. At this stage adolescents will experience changes both physically, cognitively and psychosocial. In line with physical changes, young women tend to develop a high level of concern for their physical changes. The way adolescents perceive their physical condition will affect the level of their personal ability. With high trust and a positive body image will increase the personal level of the teenager. The objectives of this study were to determine: (i) the relationship between self-confidence and body image with personal fable in UMN AW students; (ii) The relationship between self-confidence and personal ability in UMN AW students; (iii) The relationship between body image and personal fable in UMN AW students. The research method used in this research is quantitative method with a sample of 2 classes from semester 2, each class totaling 30 people. Thus the data taken is in the form of a questionnaire, using Pearson Correlation analysis. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 23 for windows.

Effect of Service Quality Toward Student Satisfaction and Loyalty in Higher Education

This study analyzes the effect of quality of services provided to the students' in relation to their satisfaction and loyalty. Respondents in this study were seventh semester students of Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah, the total number of students was 312. Data analysis techniques in this study used was SEM (Structural Equation Modeling) using the SmartPLS program. The results showed that students' satisfaction significantly mediated the correlation between academics and students' loyalty, between non-academic and students' loyalty, between reputation and students' loyalty, and between campus access and students' loyalty; on the other hand, students' satisfaction was not significant in mediating the correlation between program issues and students' loyalty. The findings suggest that it is necessary to improve the quality of lecturers to improve students' academic abilities and communication skills. As far as non-academic aspects are concerned, conducting training and development efforts and increasing awareness programs for administrative staff is important. For the reputation aspect, to carry out several marketing campaigns which predict to have an effect upon students in building positive perceptions of campus has to be executed as well. Meanwhile for access aspect, it should be made certain that every student can have direct access to staff employees, and it is necessary to improve dimensions which can increase students' satisfaction so that students are convinced of their choice of campus and then they are likely to recommend their chosen university and spread positive things about their institutions.

Pengaruh Self Efficacy terhadap Kemampuan Komunikasi Matematis melalui Pembelajaran dengan Menggunakan Aplikasi SPSS

This study aims to determine the effect of self efficacy on students' mathematical communication skills through learning using the SPSS application. The use of SPSS applications in learning, specifically in Education Statistics courses supports for students in subject matter. This research is a correlation approach. All students of Semester VII Mathematics Education at the Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah be population in this study. By using a sample of research in Semester VII-A Academic Year 2019/2020. The research instrument consisted of tests of mathematical communication skills and self efficacy questionnaires. Tests and questionnaires were provided after the learning process using the SPSS application. This research analyzed by using regression analysis. The results of this study indicate that the correlation value of 0.660 means that it is a strong ability for students' mathematical communication skills. And the regression equation is Y = 0,62X + 66,571.

Correlation Study of Enculturations Surah Ash Shaff: 10-11 with Spiritual Quotient A Case Study

In an effort to create a national cultural agenda of "Towards a Superior Indonesia", the concept of human resources development should be reconstructed to lead to the new concept of focusing on the development of spiritual quotient (SQ). The main reason for this is that the concept of SQ is the highest human intelligence that enables IQ and EQ to function effectively. The purpose of this study was to find out the correlation of Surah Ash Shaff: 10-11 enculturation through memorizing and reading it at each commencement of the lecture with the spritual quotient of the student / student at Faculty of Economics, Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah. The type of research used is assosiaitive research with quantitative approach. The study population are students of the Faculty of Economics, Universitas Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah/sample and sample size was set 165 people with purposive sampling technique. The data collection tool used was a questionnaire using Likert scale measurement. The data analysis techniques used were validity test, reliability test, classical assumption test, correlation test and to test hypothesis using Pearson correlation test and Spearman's correlation test as well as the coefficient of deterioration test (R test). The results of the coefficient of determination (R test) concluded, the contribution of the Surah Ash Shaff: 10-11 enculturation was able to explain the spiritual quotient variable by 65.8% while the other contribution of 34.2% was influenced by the other variables.

STUDENTS’ ERROR IN USING SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

This research aimed to analyse the errors in using simple present tense. Descriptive qualitataive approach was used in this reserch. The subject of this research was 37 management students of Economic Faculty Muslim Nusantara Al Washliyah University Medan. The data were the sudents’ answer test. This research was analysed by Surface strategy taxonomy proposed by Dulay et al. The results of the research showed that there are four types of students’ errors in using simple present tense. These errors are categorized into omissions, additions, misinformation, and misordering. The most errors made by students is omission with 50,61%,and the lowest is misordering with 2,47%. AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ INTEREST OF READING ENGLISH NOVEL IN FACULTY OF LETTERS MUSLIM NUSANTARA AL-WASHLIYAH UNIVERSITY

This research was aimed to find out how the condition of students’ interest in reading English novels in Faculty of Letters, Muslim Nusantara University Al-Washliyah. As a student majoring in English Literature, reading novels is one of the activities that must be carried out because most of the subjects given are closely related to centrality, one of which is an English-language novel. This research was conducted at the fifth semester students of the Faculty of Literature at Muslim Nusantara University Al-Washliyah. This research used a qualitative descriptive method. The instruments used were observation and interviews. Based on the results of the study it was found that the condition of students’ interest of reading English novels in Faculty of Letters, Muslim Nusantara Al-Washliyah University is very poor.
