THE INVOLVEMENT OF ENGLISH LECTURERS AS PARENTS IN TEACHING ENGLISH FOR THEIR CHILDREN AS YOUNG LEARNERS IN THIS 21ST CENTURY

Learning English is very important in this 21st Century where English has a big influence in all aspect of life. The right time to teach English is at the primary age because children have amazing abilities in studying a language. In the process of teaching English not only teacher’s support is needed but also parents’ involvement in this case parents as English Lecturer, it is not enough just in the school but also in the family environment. This research comes to investigate the involvement of Parents in the process of learning English for their children as young learners in this 21st century. The Researcher is quantitative research method, in order there are two instruments are provided as the procedure in collecting the data needed, these are questionnaire and interview. The sample consisted of 24 parents as the English lecturers and have children categorized as young learners in Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare and Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar, in Indonesia. The result of this research shown that parents’ as English lecturers have a very positive perspective in teaching English to their children as young learners more over English will support their children carrier in the future, but their involvement are not very intense. Even though, they are excited to be involve in teaching English to their children as a foreign language for them without forgetting their local language, however they agreed that they can face some challenges in this process.

Integrated Model of Character Education Development Based on Moral Integrative to Prevent Character Value Breaches

This research aims to produce a model of strengthening character education in university. This study's substance problem is students' bad behavior, so it requires a more comprehensive model of supporting character education. The research used a mix-method. It is a combination of qualitative methods and quantitative methods. The qualitative research instrument uses the researcher himself as the main instrument, while the quantitative tool uses a validated questionnaire. Qualitative research uses purposive sampling and random sampling techniques for quantitative research data collection techniques using interviews, observation, questionnaires, and documentation. The qualitative data analysis stages were carried out by starting to reduce data, display data, and verify data. The research results on the integration model of character education development developed at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar are integrated with moral integrations, namely knowing, feeling, sinverbal, action, habitus, and culture (KFSAHC) to prevent violations of character values.

Situation analysis of mathematical physics learning with online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic

This research was conduct to determine the situation of learning mathematics physics online during the COVID-19 pandemic. Participants in this study were physics semester 4th students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar with 21 students. Data collection techniques include online interviews and questionnaires. The collected data analyzed by reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study describe the learning process of mathematical physics not conducive during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. The problem that arises in the form of difficulty lectures in teaching explicit physics material that has many mathematical formulas and calculations. The difficulty on the part of students is that students experience limited costs to buy internet quota in online learning. The lecturer provides the solution by creating a mathematical physics module that is given in stages. This module is presented with language and examples of questions that are easily understood by students through the google classroom application. Lectures also occasionally use the zoom application, and Google meets to explain the material that is difficult to understand.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN MAKASSAR INDONESIA: DO THEY EXPERIENCEANY CULTURAL SHOCK?

International students desire to learn languages and cultures from a different place is increasing in this millennial era. Many kinds of programs are available, one of them through the Darmasiswa program. This program offered to all international students in some countries which have diplomatic relation with Indonesia to study Indonesian language, art, and culture for a year. Therefore, this study will discuss and explain some cultural shocks faced by Darmasiswa students in Makassar, Indonesia. This research was a descriptive qualitative method, and the populations of this research were 5 Darmasiswa students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Makassar from Madagascar, Japan, Poland, and Sudan. The researchers have done interviewed all Darmasiswa students to collect the data. The results show that there were some cultural shocks experienced by Darmasiswa students, such as some funniest things they have experienced, like the manner of eating, various Indonesian cuisine, the friendliness of Indonesian people, and Indonesian women that are allowed to drive a motorbike. Therefore, almost foreigners will surely find some culture shock, but the most important is adjusting and trying to understand the different things they find in a foreign country and always be positive.

Gender & Kepemimpinan Perpustakaan Perguruan Tinggi Muhammadiyah: Inovasi Layanan di Masa Pandemi Covid-19

ABSTRACT
 Introduction. This article is entitled "Gender & Leadership of Muhammadiyah Higher Education Libraries: Service Innovation during the Covid-19 Pandemic." The purpose of writing is to systematically describe and interpret gender and leadership in bringing new innovations in library services during the Covid-19 pandemic in the form of transformative policies.
 Research Methods. In this article, the author uses descriptive qualitative methods with constructivist and critical interpretive efforts in seeing the phenomena that occur, by formulating several crucial issues which are summarized in the question: Why is genderization of library leadership important to produce new innovations in services in times of crisis? Meanwhile, the data were collected by means of online observation, online interviews and call interviews. The main data is through call interviews and through chat communication media. The informants in this study were the head of the library and librarian / library staff at Muhammadiyah Higher Education including Muhammadiyah Riau University, STIKES Muhammadiyah Gombang, and Muhammadiyah Makassar University.
 Results and Discussion. The results of the research in this article show that the role of gender feminism in library leadership during the Covid-19 pandemic crisis is very urgent in relation to efforts to transform service change as protecting the existence of libraries. The head of the Muhammadiyah College library plays a professional and maternal role in making a policy (democratic and transparent). In crisis conditions, transformation is carried out by utilizing both forms of service, namely conventional (covid-19 protocol) and digital (wa, instagram, zoom, repository, and web library). So, that these efforts are very intersubjective to become novelty for Muhammadiyah Higher Education libraries in an effort to transform services that are more creative, innovative, and relevant from various conditions.
 Conclusions and recommendations. From these results, to bring existence to the Muhammadiyah Higher Education library in various intersubjective conditions requires relevance between effective policies in line with the gender role of the head of the library. This is necessary for the library to consider more carefully the policies to be taken so that it is user-oriented, because it will affect the existence of the library in the future in facing various situations.

PERANAN EDMODO SEBAGAI ALTERNATIF DALAM PEMBELAJARAN DARING

This study aims to find out the influence of learning media of E-Learning based on Edmodo toward learning outcomes of biology students at the Muhammadiyah University of Makassar. This type of research was quasi-experimental with a pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this research was all students of fourth-semester where 45 students selected as the sample. The sample consisted of 22 students in experimental group and 23 students in control group. The result showed that the Sig value was smaller than the level of significance (α). The hypothesis testing with t-test (independent-sample t-test) obtained a sig value was 0.006 with a significance level (α) was 0.0. It appears that there is an effect of E-Learning based on Edmodo toward student's learning outcomes of biology education at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar.

PENGARUH APLIKASI NILAI-NILAI AL-ISLAM DAN KEMUHAMMADIYAHAN TERHADAP PEMAHAMAN AKUNTANSI

This study aims to determine the effect of the application of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan values on the understanding of accounting for alumni of the accounting study program at Unismuh Makassar. Samples used in this research was alumni of the 2010 class of accounting study program at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The number of questionnaires distributed was 86 questionnaires and only 64 questionnaires were used. The type of research used in the study was a case study study with an approach quantitative descriptive statistics. The data is processed using simple linear regression analysis with the SPSS 20.00 program. The results showed that the application variables of Al-Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan values had a significant effectpositive for Understanding Accounting in Unismuh accounting alumniMakassar.

Pemikiran Dakwah K.H. Fathul Mu'in Dg. Maggading: Gerakan Muhammadiyah Cabang Makassar 1960-1970

The Muhammadiyah da'wah movement has continued to develop from year to year, not only in the city of Makassar but has also penetrated remote villages. In Makassar itself, this early movement was headquartered on Banda Street (now Jl. Banda), a place belonging to Daeng Tawiro.This research aims to know: (1) da'wah challenges faced by Muhammadiyah regional leader in 1960-1970 period; and (2) strategic programs of Muhammadiyah Makassar in dealing with da'wah problems. This research is a qualitative descriptive study with library research technique using historical and sociological approaches. The results showed: first, K.H. Fathul Mu'in Dg. Maggading as Chairman of Muhammadiyah Makassar period 1960-1966, faced three major challenges of da'wah at the beginning of his leadership period: (a) the growth of the PKI movement, (b) the dissolution of the Masyumi Party, and (c) paralysis of the Muhammadiyah movement on various lines; Secound, K.H. Fathul Mu'in Dg. Maggading as the pinning of Makassar Muhammadiyah Branch took several strategic steps as an effort to improve among the people, namely: (a) consolidation, (b) stabilization, and (c) promoting development.

HUBUNGAN LINGKAR KEPALA DENGAN PERKEMBANGAN MOTORIK PADA ANAK USIA 1-24 BULAN DI RUMAH SAKIT IBU DAN ANAK SITTI KHADIJAH 1 MUHAMMADIYAH MAKASSAR

Background: Infancy is a golden age (Golden Age) in the development of an individual. At the time of this child extraordinary growth and development both in terms of motor, logic, cognitive, and psychosocial. Children under five experience an increase in general developmental delay. Objective: This study was to determine the relationship of head circumference with motor development of children aged 1-24 months at the Sitti Khadijah 1 Muhammadiyah Hospital, Makassar. Method: The research design used was analytic observational using a cross sectional study approach. Where the design of this study in the form of measurement or observation of independent variables and dependent variables and observations of objects is only done once and at the same time. The determination of the sample is done by accidental sampling technique with a sample size of 142 children. Relationship test was performed using chi-square test with significance level α <0.05. Result: The results showed that children with abnormal head circumference and fine motor development were inhibited as much as 9.2% with a value of ρ = 0,000, this showed that there was a significant relationship between head circumference with fine motor development in children aged 1-24 months at the Mother Hospital and Anak Sitti Khadijah 1 Muhammadiyah Makassar. And children who have abnormal head circumference with impaired gross motor development as much as 9.9% with a value of p = 0,000, this shows there is a significant relationship between head circumference with gross motor development in children aged 1-24 months at the Mother and Child Hospital Sitti Khadijah 1 Muhammadiyah Makassar. Conclusion: The conclusion from the results of this study found that there was a significant relationship between head circumference with fine motor development and there was a significant relationship between head circumference with gross motor development. Thus it is expected for parents to frequently take measurements of head circumference and screening of motor development in children to determine the development of their brain and detect any delay in motor development of children.

Analysis of Motivation and How The Students Learn in Pandemic

This study aimed to analyze and describe the level of learning motivation and students’ learning, as well as the obstacles faced by students in online learning during pandemic. This type of research was a qualitative descriptive study conducted at University of Muhammadiyah Makassar during March-April 2020. The population were 19,810, determining the number of samples with the Slovin formula so that the samples were 724 people. The sampling technique was accidental sampling. The method of collecting data using questionnaires that were distributed through google forms. The data analysis technique was descriptive qualitative to describe the research variables. Findings of the study conclude that: 1) Although the learning obstacles faced by students during the pandemic are quite a lot, but student learning motivation is in the high category with mean score is 4,11. Students’ motivation is seen from the indicators desire to succeed, the need for learning, the expectation of students' aspirations for their future, independent learning because of their own desires, committed to learning, having initiative in learning, and having an optimistic attitude in learning; 2) The way students learn is in the pandemic era in the good category with mean score is 3.51. Students have their own way of learning such as arrange learning schedule, rehearse the learning material, spend time reading books, articles and references, and make a summary of the material that has been discussed; 3) Learning constraints faced by students in the pandemic period are in the high category with mean score is 3.69.

The Influence of International Pre-Service Teaching Program Towards Students’ Speaking Ability at University of Muhammadiyah Makassar

The objective of the research is to find out the influence of International Pre-service Teaching Program toward students’ speaking English ability at Makassar Muhammadiyah University. The researcher applied descriptive qualitative research. The population of the research was the students who join International Pre-service Teaching Program (P2K International) at Makassar Muhammadiyah University. The researcher used total sampling technique. The population consisted of 15 students who joined in 2014 and 13 students who joined in 2015. The result of the research data showed that there were 25.31% students chose Strongly Agree from 237 items in positive statement and 37.14% Agree, 27.85% Undecided, 5.90% Disagree, and then 3.80% students chose Strongly Agree. While 1.57% students chose Strongly Agree from 254 items in negative statement and 10.24% Agree, 21.26% Undecided, 23.63% Disagree, and then 43.30% students chose Strongly Agree. In self-confidence aspect they feel no worry anymore to speak in public, in grammar they can not deny that their grammar become better, in fluently their English speaking is not slow as beginner, and their vocabulary significantly enriched after the program. All these aspects lead the students to become speaker especially in English. Having analyzed the data, it can be concluded that Pre-service teaching international program has significantly influence and improved the students’ English speaking ability at Makassar Muhammadiyah University.

The Effect of Physical Activity on the Menstrual Cycle at Martial Art Putri at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar

Menstruation is a factor that reflects a woman's functional potential which can be influenced by a number of variables including age, family history, socioeconomic status, education, physical activity, personality, exercise, weight, height, stress, infection, percentage of fat distribution and hormonal. Physical exercise or sports affect the menstrual cycle of the participants of martial art Muhammadiyah. This study aims to determine the effect of physical activity on the menstrual cycle, namely female combatants in the martial art Muhammadiyah arts education. According to research conducted in a number of countries, including other developing countries, it is said that menstrual disorders are quite a problem faced by Hillard women and found that female students show more frequent problems with irregular menstruation.

ANALISIS MOTIVASI KONSUMEN DALAM PROSES KEPUTUSAN PEMBELIAN BUSANA SYAR’I TERHADAP MAHASISWA MANAJEMEN 2016 FAKULTAS EKONOMI DAN BISNIS UNIVERSITAS MUHAMMADIYAH MAKASSAR

This study aims to determine and analyze the motivation of consumers in the process of shariah clothing purchase decisions in management students of the 2016 Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The type of research used is qualitative, using interview techniques, observation and documentation. Based on the results of research from the analysis that has been carried out, it can be concluded that several things can be motivated by Management Students 2016 Faculty of Economics and Business on the decision to purchase sharia clothing, namely; Introducing needs, information seeking, alternative evaluations, purchasing decisions, and post-purchase behavior.

The Contribution of Reading Motivation in Social Collaboration Dimension to Students' Reading Comprehension

This research aimed to analyze contribution of motivation in social collaboration dimension to students' comprehension. Reading motivation is conceptualized as the individual's goals, values, and beliefs with regard to topics, processes, and outcomes of reading (Guthrie & Wigfield, [15], p. 405). Social Collaboration is one of dimensions of motivation that can support students in comprehension. The method of this research was quantitative by applying a random sampling technique (120 samples) from 300 students of Muhammadiyah Makassar University, Indonesia. The data were collected using questionnaire of Motivation Reading Questionnaire (MRQ), and assessment. The result revealed that there was a positive effect on students' motivation toward social collaboration dimension. It also can be indicated that motivation contributes to their learning outcome. Social collaboration showed indicator construction with value 0.222=0.04. It can also be revealed that motivation builds social collaboration dimension which supports or give a positive contribution toward motivation itself toward students' comprehension

Respon Dosen dan Mahasiswa Terhadap Penggunaan Media Pembelajaran Multimedia Interaktif Macromedia Flash

This research is motivated by changes in the science learning process, especially at the tertiary level which trains student teacher candidates to use their thinking potential through social interaction in learning. In addition, the lack of development of the media in Integrated Science lectures is also a particular concern in this study. The purpose of this study is to analyze how the response of lectures and students of Physics Education at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar to the use of Interactive Multimedia Macromedia Flash in Integrated Science lectures. The research sample consisted of 5 (five) integrated science lectures and 35 (thirty-five) students. This research is qualitative research that describes how the response of lecturers and students to the learning media used. The data in this research are lecturer response questionnaire data and student response questionnaire data. The data is then analyzed descriptively. Based on the results of the validation analysis of learning media by the validator (expert), the Aiken index average 0,76 in the medium category. Based on the results of the study found 87,50 % of lecturers responded positively to the use of interactive multimedia learning media with Macromedia Flash in Integrated Science lecturers. And as much as 83,86 % students gave a positive response to the use of interactive multimedia learning media with Macromedia flash in Integrated Science lectures

The needs analysis of basic physics learning devices based on hybrid learning

The research is a qualitative descriptive study as a preliminary study. The location of his research was at the department of physical education, University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The purpose of his research is to analyze the level of needs of basic physics learning devices based on hybrid learning, and the research subjects consisted of 6 lecturers and 39 temporary students and had contracted basic physics courses at the Department of Physics Education at the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. The technique of collecting data in the preliminary study activities was carried out through non-test instruments in the form of questionnaires, observations, and interviews. The data from the questionnaire were analyzed quantitatively based on the number of frequencies in the Likert scale category of each questionnaire item. The interview data and the results of the observations were analyzed descriptively qualitatively. Data analysis techniques used are observational data analyzed by making data percentage of the results of observations of each aspect measured, then the data is presented in the form of pie graphs. The results of the study show that the role of information and communication technology has not been maximized in basic physics learning effectively and efficiently for both lecturers and students, while the demands of 21st-century learning are expecting the role of ICT in learning especially by using hybrid learning.

The Effect of Online Learning System Through Blended Learning Model toward Higher Student’s Academic Achievement

Era industry 4.0, especially in the field of education, emphasizes the use of digital technology and the internet which develops rapidly in the learning process. Online learning is one form of implementation of learning in industry 4.0 era. The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of the implementation of the learning system on the higher students’ academic achievement. This research is experimental research, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The purpose of this design is to reveal whether online learning systems can affect students' academic achievement or not that's measured through the learning outcomes of biology education students at the concept of structure and transport of cell membranes in the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar. Based on analyzed data, it shows the difference in the increase of students' learning outcomes taught by the online learning system and without using an online learning system. Based on the findings of this study, students who are taught by online learning system get a higher score of learning outcomes. It can be said that there is an effect of the online learning system toward students’ academic achievement.

Analysis of the lecture’s teaching skills using structural equation modeling method

This research is an expo-facto study which aims to analyze and test the particular teaching skills model of beginner lecturers that applies basic physics courses I. Testing models aim to provide information and knowledge about the indicators that most influence lecturers’ skills in teaching in the classroom. The population in this study were all students of the 2015 class and the 2016 class of the Physics Education Study Program of the University of Muhammadiyah Makassar with 224 people. The research sample was taken using Slovin techniques with a total of 145 students. The process of data collection was carried out by using an empirically tested questionnaire. The research data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling analysis method with Analysis of Moment Structures techniques. Through this model, it can be concluded that the skills of explaining basic physics material the most influential indicator of the teaching skills of beginner lecturers.
