Location strategy for logistics distribution centers utilizing improved whale optimization algorithm

Abstract An enhanced whale optimization algorithm is introduced to address the challenges associated with the logistics distribution center location problem, aiming to overcome the traditional heuristic algorithm’s susceptibility to local optima and enhance the overall efficiency of the logistics system. This improvement involves the integration of stochastic sinusoidal inertia weights and a variational strategy to augment the global search capability and convergence accuracy of the conventional algorithm. The results of experimental simulations indicate that the upgraded whale algorithm exhibits superior computational performance compared to other heuristic algorithms. Furthermore, it demonstrates the ability to effectively compute optimal distribution center locations, thereby enhancing the delivery efficiency of the logistics distribution system.

A Branch-and-Price Algorithm for an Integrated Online and Offline Retailing Distribution System with Product Return

This study identifies critical inefficiencies within a dual-channel operation model employed by a fast fashion company, particularly the independent operation of three logistics distribution systems. These systems result in high operational costs and low resource utilization, primarily due to redundant vehicle dispatches to meet the distinct demands of retail store replenishment, online customer orders, and customer return demands, as well as random and scattered return requests leading to vehicle underutilization. To address these challenges, we propose a novel integrated logistics distribution system design and management method tailored for dual-channel sales and distribution businesses. The approach consolidates the three distribution systems into one cohesive framework, thus streamlining the delivery process and reducing vehicle trips by combining retail and customer visits. An optimization algorithm is introduced to factor in inventory and distribution distance, aiming to achieve global optimization in pairing retail store inventory with online customer orders and unifying the distribution of replenishment products, online products, and returned products. The paper contributes to the field by introducing a new variation of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP) that arises from an integrated distribution system, combining common VRP issues with more complex challenges. A custom Branch-and-Price (B&P) algorithm is developed to efficiently find optimal routes. Furthermore, we demonstrate the benefits of the integrated system over traditional, segregated systems through real-world data analysis and assess various factors including return rates and inventory conditions. The study also enhances the model by allowing inventory transfers between retail stores, improving inventory distribution balance, and offering solutions for scenarios with critically low inventory levels. Our findings highlight a significant reduction in total operating cost savings of up to 49.9% and vehicle usage when using the integrated distribution system compared to independent two-stage and three-stage systems. The integrated approach enables the utilization of vacant vehicle space and the dynamic selection and combination of tasks, preventing unnecessary mileage and space wastage. Notably, the integration of inventory sharing among retail stores has proven to be a key factor in generating feasible solutions under tight inventory conditions and reducing operational costs and vehicle numbers, with the benefits amplified in large-scale problem instances.

In the era of intelligence, tourists urgently need a new tourism model to free themselves from the heavy logistics burden and meet their personalized, convenient, and enjoyable needs. On the other hand, there is a strong symbiotic relationship between the logistics industry and the tourism industry, which providing the greatest possibility and space for strategic collaboration between the two. However, for a long time, the two industries have been independent and isolated from each other, and tourism logistics, as an important market with a massive economy and the ability to create great tourism experiences for millions of tourists, has not yet been fully explored. Based on this, this paper views the tourism logistics system as an open and independent whole based on holism and synergy theory. Based on AI technology, by restructuring and integrating the tourism logistics activity process, we design a future oriented whole space and multi scenario tourism logistics distribution system, to promote high-quality development of the tourism industry and build a more efficient tourism economic order.

Research on Optimization of Agricultural Products Cold Chain Logistics Distribution System Based on Low Carbon Perspective

Based on thindiscussion of the traditional agricultural product distribution model, this article establishes a low-carbon perspective of urban agricultural product co-distribution model to reduce the level of agricultural product circulation and reduce the impact of distribution activities on the environment. By comprehensively considering the factors affecting carbon emissions in the vehicle delivery process, the fuel consumption and carbon emissions estimation models of delivery vehicles are analyzed and put forward. A mathematical model for the optimization of urban agricultural product cold chain distribution routes from a low-carbon perspective is established. This article takes a logistics center as an example, selects genetic algorithm as the model solution method, optimizes the distribution route, and obtains the corresponding result, thus verifying the rationality and feasibility of the model.

A new bi-stage interactive possibilistic programming model for perishable logistics distribution systems under uncertainty

Setting the optimal vehicle routes and the optimal level of inventory to avoid shortage, in addition to reducing costs of transportation, are two of the main objectives in developing the distribution systems of perishable goods. Despite its importance, an area that still requires more investigation is the simultaneous consideration of hub location selection and routing and warehousing operations. In other words, addressing decisions related to the locations of the warehouses, vehicle routing, and warehouse management at the same time could improve the outcome. Therefore, this paper presents a new non-linear mixed-integer model for warehouse location selection, in addition to an integrated multi-objective mixed-integer model for routing and warehousing operations. Moreover, features of real operations are considered, such as dynamic conditions, order picking, and delivery, customer prioritization, time windows for customers, and different perishable goods. Minimizing the operations' costs and time under uncertain conditions is achieved by proposing a possibilistic-robust optimization algorithm. The optimization approach regards the weight of each objective using the opinions of experts by using a novel hesitant fuzzy approach. Finally, a case study is presented, and the results are compared with the actual data along with validating the model by using several numerical examples. The results have shown that the method can perfectly form the supply chain of perishable goods. Furthermore, the optimization method can provide the experts with more flexibility in finding a compromise solution.

Research on the Development Problems and Strategies of Agricultural Products Logistics under the Background of Rural Revitalization—Taking Lianjiang Red Orange as a Case

Since 2014, the Report on the Work of the Government has mentioned “express delivery” for 10 consecutive years, which indicates the development direction of the express industry. In 2023, the Report on the Work of the Government also specifically mentioned the need to “improve the rural express logistics distribution system”. Improving the rural logistics system is an important measure to promote industrial upgrading, rural consumption, and rural revitalization.China is a major agricultural country, with grain production, cotton production, and tea production ranking first in the world. In recent years, the agricultural product logistics industry has also experienced rapid development. However, the overall development level of the current agricultural product logistics industry is relatively low, manifested in outdated logistics concepts, insufficient application of advanced logistics technology, relatively backward cold chain logistics technology, and a lack of professional logistics talents. These factors constrain the development of agricultural product logistics. Therefore, this article takes the agricultural product of Lianjiang Red Orange as the research object, analyzes the current development status and problems of agricultural product logistics, and proposes corresponding countermeasures and suggestions to improve the development of agricultural product logistics through analysis. The aim is to provide reference for the development of agricultural product logistics in Lianjiang City and provide strong impetus for comprehensively promoting rural revitalization.

RETRACTED ARTICLE: Effectiveness of Mixed Fuzzy Time Window Multi-objective Allocation in E-Commerce Logistics Distribution Path

The study of logistics distribution network under e-commerce environment is conducive to the establishment of efficient logistics distribution system, but also to promote the further development of e-commerce and improve social benefits of great significance. This study considers multiple fuzzy factors and introduces a customer fuzzy time window with variable coefficients, establishes a multi-objective set allocation integrated multi-level location path planning model, and proposes an archive type multi-objective simulated annealing improvement algorithm based on master–slave parallel framework embedded taboo search to solve the model. Tabu search and large-scale neighborhood algorithm are used to solve the initial solutions of the first level network and the second level network respectively, and archival reception criterion is introduced to deal with the multi-objective problem. The results of the proposed algorithm for the two-level site-routing problem are less than 6% different from the internationally known optimal solution. The master–slave parallel computing framework improves the efficiency of the algorithm by about 6.38%. The experimental results prove the effectiveness and necessity of the improved optimization. In addition, this study simulates the site-routing problem model constructed by the study by extending the data of standard examples. The experimental results prove the correctness and reference significance of the multilevel site-routing problem model with multiple fuzzy factors.

A Reliable Delivery Logistics System Based on the Collaboration of UAVs and Vehicles

In recent years, land–air collaborative logistics delivery is a promising distribution method. It combines the flexibility of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) with the high payload capacity of vehicles, expanding the service range of UAVs while reducing carbon emissions. However, most existing research has focused on path planning and resource allocation for either UAVs or vehicles alone. Therefore, to address the shortcomings of the current research, this paper proposes an intelligent land–air collaboration delivery algorithm for trajectory optimization and resource scheduling. Subsequently, this paper develops a land–air collaboration reliable delivery logistics distribution system, showcasing the driving routes of vehicles and UAVs. Meanwhile, the mode of UAV–vehicle collaboration not only saves operating costs compared to traditional logistics delivery but also achieves energy conservation and emission reduction goals. During the specific design and implementation process of this platform, blockchain technology is integrated into the logistics delivery service to ensure data security and prevent tampering, making the system more efficient and reliable. Finally, through testing and verification of the system’s functionalities, its completeness is demonstrated.

Logistics management is the process of planning, implementing and controlling the processes of logistics activities starting from procurement, storage, disposal and distribution to meet customer needs. The RSI Surabaya Jemursari logistics distribution system has been running effectively, but every month there are still staff errors during ANFRA services, resulting in differences between goods and data when doing stock taking at the end of the month. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence the occurrence of stockouts at RSI Surabaya Jemursari. This research is a descriptive research with cross sectional research. The variables studied consisted of planning, acceptance, distribution, deletion. The results of the discussion as a whole, the conclusions obtained by the researcher can be described that the inventory system of the logistics function at RSI Surabaya Jemursari has been running effectively. However, it needs to be improved when ANFRA's services are more thorough so that there are no errors in picking up goods which result in differences in the goods in the warehouse with the existing data.

A multi-AGV fast path planning method based on improved CBS algorithm in workshops

Automatic guided vehicles (AGVs) are an important component of workshop logistics distribution systems. With the continuous increase in human cost, unmanned workshops are becoming increasingly popular, and an increasing number of AGVs are being applied to workshop logistics distribution systems. However, with the increasing number of AGVs in the workshop, planning a path quickly for each AGV is challenging, and the response time of multi-AGV fast path planning cannot meet actual requirements. To solve this problem, a multi-AGV fast path planning method based on an improved conflict-based search (ICBS) algorithm is proposed. First, the path planning problem is analyzed, and the environment expression, task, objective and constraint models are established. Subsequently, a two-layer ICBS algorithm is proposed to achieve fast path planning. At the bottom layer, an improved A* algorithm is adopted, and the selection strategy of the nodes is changed when multiple minimum values are equal. In the upper layer, the conflict number, conflict objective and conflict constraint sets are established. Three priority rules including Most Conflicts First (MCF) rule, Earliest Conflict First (ECF) rule, Single Search for Conflict Point (SSCP) rule are used. And a conflict elimination strategy is proposed. Finally, the superiority of the algorithm-solving is verified based on benchmark and actual workshop maps.

Study on Multi-Objective Optimization of Logistics Distribution Paths in Smart Manufacturing Workshops Based on Time Tolerance and Low Carbon Emissions

In the Industry 4.0 environment, an ideal smart factory should be intelligent, green, and humanized, and the logistics transportation from raw materials to final products in the factory should be completed by smart logistics. In order to address the problems of low efficiency, poor workstation service satisfaction, high distribution costs, and non-greening during the logistics distribution processes in discrete smart manufacturing workshops are required. A mathematical model of optimized multi-objective green logistics distribution paths in a smart manufacturing workshop has been constructed in this study, with low costs, high efficiency, and workstation service satisfaction taken into consideration. Then, this mathematical model was solved with an improved ant colony optimization algorithm. A “time window span” was introduced in the basic ant colony optimization algorithm to prioritize the services to workstations with a relatively high urgency in material demand, with the aim of improving workstation service satisfaction. Lastly, in order to verify the effectiveness of the model and algorithm proposed in this study, a simulation experiment has been conducted on the workstation logistics distribution system in a smart manufacturing workshop to provide convincing evidence for optimizing workstation logistics distribution paths in workshops of discrete manufacturing enterprises.

Study on Coupling and Coordination of E-Commerce & Logistics and Urbanization Under County Agriculture and Rural Digitalization ——Take Sichuan & Shaanxi Revolutionary Base Area (Sichuan) as an Example

As an important part of the Rural Revitalization Strategy, e-commerce & logistics under the digitalization of county agriculture and rural areas is conducive to consolidating and expanding the achievements of poverty alleviation and continuously narrowing the development gap between urban and rural areas, and is conducive to the revitalization and development of old revolutionary areas and the realization of new urbanization. Based on the coupled development theory and coordination theory, establish reasonable evaluation indicators, and use the coupled development model to explore the coupling relationship between county urbanization, logistics economy and rural e-commerce in the Sichuan & Shaanxi revolutionary base area (Sichuan) as a sample, and analyze and study the relationship between the three and their development laws. In the implementation plan of Sichuan Province for implementing the revitalization and development plan of the old revolutionary base areas in Sichuan & Shaanxi, it is proposed to build a number of logistics parks, logistics centers, distribution centers and third-party logistics information platforms based on regional central cities for trade logistics, accelerate the construction of trade centers and professional markets, create trade towns, and incorporate the rural market circulation system into the urbanization plan; For e-commerce, we should strengthen the construction of logistics distribution and other support systems, and actively develop county e-commerce.

Application of a Cold-Chain Logistics Distribution System Based on Cloud Computing and Web Delivery Date Management

The cold chain maintains and transports fresh food in the correct temperature range for slow biological decay processes and delivers safe, high-quality food to customers. Ensuring that quality and efficiency are not affected by the supply chain of cold chain products is a goal. Therefore, this paper proposes the intelligent time scheduling management model (ITSMM) based on cloud computing and a web-based platform for cold-chain logistics and distribution systems. This paper establishes a time scheduling model to reduce the overall order operation cost, diminish the variance among the expected and actual time of finalizing the service orders, and improve useful logistics service providers' satisfaction. Data, including all cold chain phases (distributors, industry, consumers, and retailers), have been gathered. This paper examines the distribution cost and time refrigerated vehicles, thus instituting a cold chain distribution vehicle path optimization.

Implementation of Safety Management System on Traditional Shipping for Strengthening the Blue Economy

Traditional Shipping ‘Pelra’ as part of the maritime transportation system is expected to support the concept of blue economy `in order to accelerate the national economy. Pelra, with all its limitations, is still the backbone of the maritime populist economy to support inter-island trade in Indonesia, especially the logistics distribution system services for the Disadvantaged, Outermost, Frontier, and Border Areas (“3TP”)’. Traditional Shipping has not implemented a standardized Safety Management System (SMS) as in National shipping, so it often has accidents. The study analyzed the extent of the opportunity to apply SMS on Pelra ships by considering the characteristics of the water area (shipping lanes and wave conditions), as well as the incidence of accidents. It was found that the size of Pelra ships sailing in East Nusa Tenggara waters is dominated by vessels smaller than GT 100, making it possible to apply SMS. Factors that need to be considered in the implementation so that it is more effective are the resources and personnel (HR) factor, the responsibility and authority of the crew, and the responsibility and authority of authority of the company (Corp).

Research on the Evaluation of Fresh E-commerce Service Based on AHP-fuzzy Comprehensive Evaluation

In recent years, China's e-commerce industry has developed rapidly in the past decade. Fresh enterprises represented by Freshippo, a famous Chinese fresh enterprises, are trying to meet a higher requirement of customer. In order to help the development of fresh e-commerce, this paper takes Freshippo as an example to evaluate the performance of fresh e-commerce services(FESs), constructs a set of performance evaluation index system of FESs by using analytic hierarchy process(AHP), and evaluates the service status of Freshippo by using fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method.Result shows that fresh e-commerce enterprises should always adhere to the concept of “product quality and service priority” in business process, and improve the cold chain logistics distribution system.

Construction and Application of Distributed Power Storage System

In today’s society, with the continuous development of China’s economy, the power industry is also growing rapidly. As an important part of the logistics distribution system, the warehousing system plays an important role in the production and operation of the entire enterprise. Therefore, effective utilization of distributed generation is of great significance for improving energy supply efficiency and reducing operating costs. This paper mainly introduces the background and application status of distributed generation technology, analyzes and discusses the research and simulation of power supply network scheduling optimization methods based on DGS structure model and DGs topology mode, and gives the corresponding solutions. After the design of the system, this paper conducts a performance test on the system to determine whether the system can operate normally. The test results show that the performance of the distributed power storage system is basically stable at more than 80% under different power storage capacities, and the power utilization efficiency is also more than 90%. This shows that the performance of the power storage system can meet the needs of users.

Combining affinity propagation with differential evolution for three-echelon logistics distribution optimization

In order to alleviate urban congestion, improve vehicle mobility and logistics distribution efficiency, the urban logistics distribution system is regarded as a three-echelon logistics distribution system. In this paper, a mathematical model of the 3-echelon logistics distribution problem (3E-LDP) considering time window constraint is established based on the directed graph, and a double-tier intelligent algorithm solution scheme is proposed, which combines the distance entropy-based Affinity Propagation clustering (DEBAP) algorithm and the crossover and selection-based differential evolution algorithm (CSBDE). First of all, in order to reduce the scale of logistics distribution and improve the utilization rate of logistics distribution facilities, the DEBAP algorithm is proposed in the upper tier to divide the logistics distribution region and optimize the distribution of logistics facilities, and the resulting scheme is passed to the vehicle routing optimization algorithm in the lower tier. Secondly, the vehicle routes at all levels are optimized based on the CSBDE algorithm at the lower tier, and the optimized route scheme is fed back to the DEBAP algorithm at the upper tier, so as to coordinate multi-echelon logistics distribution. Then, a search strategy based on the reachable distribution region and a facility allocation optimization strategy based on the weight of routing length are proposed to improve the efficiency of the algorithm. Based on the above algorithms, the optimization of the three-echelon logistics distribution system is completed in coordination. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is evaluated on the standard benchmark instances of the problem. The experimental results show that the three-echelon logistics model can improve the efficiency of logistics distribution, and the method has the best comprehensive performance, which is better than the most advanced 3E-LDP solution method. It has great potential in practical projects.

Research on Logistics Distribution Center Location Based on Hybrid Beetle Antennae Search and Rain Algorithm.

The location of logistics distribution centers is a crucial issue in modern logistics distribution systems. In order to obtain a more reasonable solution, an effective optimization algorithm is essential. This paper proposes a new hybrid method, named the beetle antennae search-rain algorithm (BRA), for the problem of logistics distribution centers' location. The innovation of the BRA is embodied in three aspects. Firstly, the beetle antennae search (BAS) algorithm is embedded into the rain algorithm (RA); thus, the BAS is improved from an individual search to a swarm intelligent search and the global search ability is improved. Secondly, the search direction strategy of the BAS algorithm is incorporated into the RA, which can improve response speed while ensuring optimization performance. Finally, the search precision is improved by the mechanism of eliminating the inferior solution and generating a new solution. The BRA is tested on 10 benchmark functions and applied to solve the logistics distribution centers' location problem. The performance of the BRA is compared to that of several classical heuristics by using relevant evaluation indexes and dynamic optimization convergence graphs. Experimental results show that the BRA outperforms the BAS algorithm, the RA and some other classic heuristics. It is also revealed that the BRA is an effective and competitive algorithm for logistics distribution centers' location.
