As the ideal energy storage device, lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) are already equipped in millions of electric vehicles (EVs). The complexity of this system leads to the related research involving all aspects of LIBs and EVs. Therefore, the research hotspots and future research directions of LIBs in EVs deserve in-depth study. A bibliometric analysis is conducted according to the SCI-Expanded database in the Web of Science Core Collection. From 1993 to 2022, a total of 5187 articles or review articles related to LIBs and EVs have been published. The visualization means of geographical tool, software VOSviewer and CiteSpace help to visualize the structure network. The annual publications, countries, institutions, authors, terms, and references of the retrieved publications and the relation between them are analyzed comprehensively. This paper quantitatively analyzes the development tendency of LIBs in EVs, which provides experienced reference for researchers who want to engage in this domain.
