This paper, presents a Circularly-polarized l-shaped monopole antenna with slanting edged partial defected ground structure. The circularly polarized radiation can be obtained by asymmetric l-shaped monopole and slanting edged ground plane. A small rectangular stub is embedded on the lower side of the slanting edge of the ground plane to further enhance the axial ratio bandwidth. The proposed antenna offers 36 % axial ratio bandwidth from 2.2 GHz to 3.09 GHz and 54.9 % impedance bandwidth from 1.89 GHz to 3.32 GHz with 2.17 dBic peak gain at 2.8 GHz. The suggested antenna design is more suitable for mid-band 4/5G networks for smart city applications.
