Code-Mixing in Alternate Universe Story “Tjokorda Manggala” written by @guratkasih on Twitter

This research dealt with code-mixing phenomenon in the AU (alternate universe), that refers to fan fiction about one’s favorite celebrity. This type of fan fiction is mostly and largely published on Twitter as a social media platform. "Tjokorda Manggala," authored by @guratkasih, is one of several AUs with code-mixing in every tweet. This study delves deeper into the many sorts of code-mixing employed in "Tjokorda Manggala." It has been shown that 44 code-mixing occurrences were discovered from 28 tweets, with the kind of insertion (75%) being the highest or most usually employed. Alternation (9.1%) is only utilized in a few circumstances, while congruent lexicalization (15.9%) occurred more frequently than alternation. Some factors that caused code-mixing in the AU are settings and situations, participants, topics, and function of interaction. It is intended that through doing this research, the shift in linguistic patterns and how English has impacted Indonesians may be noticed, even in the realm of fan fiction.

Improving the manufacturability of floor slabs by pre-installing elements that partially replace reinforced concrete and formwork

The article discusses well-known and perspective constructive and technological systems for the installation of monolithic and precast-monolithic floor slabs of civil and industrial buildings. It shows examples and expediency of using all kinds of inserts made of plastic and other light materials and products for replacing a part of heavy monolithic reinforced concrete. An original resource-saving method for the installation of precast-monolithic floor slabs with a simultaneous increase in the degree of their construction readiness is proposed. This effect is achieved by reducing their own weight and the use of permanent formwork. Reduction in own weight of the precast-monolithic floor slab is ensured by the use of volumetric lightweight trapezoidal or rectangular inserts, preferably made of expanded polystyrene, during its installation. The use of permanent formwork will eliminate the need for the subsequent performance of labor-intensive finishing and insulation works. To confirm the effectiveness of using the proposed method of precast-monolithic floor slab installation, the operation of two floor slabs was modeled in the LIRA SAPR computing complex - the proposed reinforced concrete innovative slab and a solid reinforced concrete slab. Having analyzed the calculated forces, deformations and the corresponding consumption of reinforcement and concrete, comparative indicators were obtained for the proposed innovative slab and for a typical solid floor slab. As a result, significant savings in material and cost have been proven.

Design and Evaluation of a Mobile Application for an Educational Card Game

Educational games can provide players with rich learning and socializing experiences through different interac-tion paradigms, such as board games, card games, and, more recently, hybrid (physical-digital) games. However, the process of making, maintaining, and evolving an educational analog game is not a trivial task. Balancing the game mechanics and dynamics to provide a pleasant and educational gaming experience can be very difficult to achieve. Furthermore, adding a digital component in the gameplay can disturb the experience of the game and learning ob-jectives, and this kind of insertion should be evaluated. This work then aims to report the process of developing and evaluating a mobile application for helping the gameplay of a card game that focuses on on teaching software testing concepts. Our primary concern during the development of the application was whether its insertion would compromise the learning process or the social experience of the card game. The developed application has the fol-lowing functionalities: point counter, dice scrolling, timer, and a summary of the rules. We designed and developed a first version of the application. Then, we evaluated the impact of its insertion on gameplay by applying the game assisted with the application with students from Computer Science and Computer Engineering courses and, after the end of the game, the participants answered questionnaires about the players’ experience and their impressions about the application. Based on the results, we perceived that the use of the application provided benefits to the players’ experience, although the evaluation highlighted some opportunities for improvement. Thus, we evolve the mobile application based on the comments gathered in this evaluation. This new version has improvements on user’s interface, aiming to provide a better user experience, and new functionalities. Furthermore, we assessed the second version and compared both versions of the mobile app in order to collect evidence regarding improvements in the game experience.

Instrumentation of Stratospheric Balloon Straps with Optical Fibre for Temperature and Strain Monitoring.

This article is devoted to the instrumentation, with optical fibres, of the straps holding the envelope of stratospheric balloons. This instrumentation is motivated in the first instance by the need to validate the numerical models used in the design of balloons. It must also be used to measure the temperature along the envelope in order to deduce the pressure field. It is shown at first that the optical fibres can be inserted inside a strap during its fabrication. Different kinds of insertion are considered, none of them perturb the industrial process. The instrumented straps were then submitted to thermal and mechanical tests and the distributed Brillouin frequency shifts were measured. We thus determined the type of insertion to be used according to the parameter (temperature or strain) to be measured and assessed the performance of the measurement chain.

Heat Transfer and Pressure Drop Investigation in a Circular Tube by the use of Various Kinds of Inserts

The ability of a traditional heat exchanger in transferring heat requires improvement for conveying a considerable proportion of energy at cheaper rate and amount. For augmenting the heat transfer coefficient, different means have been employed. However, the use of inserts has become an assured method in enhancing heat transfer through endurable escalation of frictional losses. The grinding factor improvement proportions are observed to be in the scope of 2.68-3.43, 3.14-4.14, 4.30-5.34, 5.22-6.18 and 6.53-6.96 for the previously mentioned configurations of additions.The objective of the investigation is the examination of a circular tube fitted with multiple inserts with regard to its characteristics related to fluid flow & heat transfer; these inserts are organized in co-swirl and counter-swirl directions.

PVD-CrAlN and TiAlN coated Si 3 N 4 ceramic cutting inserts-2. High speed face milling performance and wear mechanism study

Abstract In the authors’ prior works, the microstructure, turning cutting performance and wear mechanisms of PVD-CrAlN and TiAlN coated silicon nitride cutting inserts on turning of gray iron were studied. In the present work, based on the authors’ former study, the effects of the cutting speed on tool life, wear mechanism and surface quality of the workpieces were studied through high speed face milling tests. The uncoated, CrAlN and TiAlN coated cutting inserts were conducted by high speed face milling of gray iron at various cutting speeds of 600 m/min~1500 m/min. The results displayed that during high speed face milling, the tool life of the PVD coated Si 3 N 4 cutting inserts decreased as the cutting speed increased. When the cutting speed reached a certain value, the tool life increased with the cutting speed increasing. During high speed face milling, no spallation failure happened to both CrAlN and TiAlN coatings, and the coatings could protect the insert substrates effectively under various cutting speeds, improving the tool life of the uncoated cutting inserts by 138–150% and 32–65%, respectively. The wear mechanisms of all three kinds of the cutting inserts by face milling of gray iron under various cutting speed were the same. The only difference was that as the cutting speed increased, the adhesive wear of the inserts increased significantly. During high speed face milling of gray iron with three kinds of inserts, the alteration relationship of machining quality with the cutting speed was similar to the tool life with the cutting speed relationship. Furthermore, when high speed face milling of gray iron was conducted, CrAlN coated Si 3 N 4 cutting inserts displayed the best machining quality, followed by TiAlN coated and the uncoated inserts, respectively.

Insertional depth-dependent intracochlear pressure changes in a model of cochlear implantation

Conclusion: Over time, a homogenous increase in intracochlear pressure was seen in every experiment. Significant reductions in terms of amplitude variation and insertion depth were observed over time, using the one-point-supported insertion method. The frequency of peaks between the thirds was significantly lower when using the two-points-supported insertion method.Objectives: The preservation of residual hearing and minimization of intracochlear trauma are two of the major goals in modern cochlear implantation (CI) surgery. It is assumed that intracochlear pressure measurements yield information about the intracochlear behavior of the electrode itself in the cochlea. The aim of this study was to investigate temporal intracochlear fluid pressure changes using two different kinds of insertion conditions.Method: Cochlear implantations with the Advanced Bionics IJ® electrode were performed in an artificial cochlear model with a constant insertional speed of 0.5 mm/s provided by a linear actor. Amplitude pressure changes and number of pressure peaks were evaluated for every part.Result: Intracochlear fluid pressure changes are assumed to affect the preservation of residual hearing and should be minimized. The stability and reduction of movement of a lateral wall IJ® electrode increase at deeper insertion and affect intracochlear fluid pressure amplitude.

Feasible Initial Population with Genetic Diversity for a Population-Based Algorithm Applied to the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows

A stochastic algorithm for obtaining feasible initial populations to the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows is presented. The theoretical formulation for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows is explained. The proposed method is primarily divided into a clustering algorithm and a two-phase algorithm. The first step is the application of a modifiedk-means clustering algorithm which is proposed in this paper. The two-phase algorithm evaluates a partial solution to transform it into a feasible individual. The two-phase algorithm consists of a hybridization of four kinds of insertions which interact randomly to obtain feasible individuals. It has been proven that different kinds of insertions impact the diversity among individuals in initial populations, which is crucial for population-based algorithm behavior. A modification to the Hamming distance method is applied to the populations generated for the Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows to evaluate their diversity. Experimental tests were performed based on the Solomon benchmarking. Experimental results show that the proposed method facilitates generation of highly diverse populations, which vary according to the type and distribution of the instances.

Development and Application of a Cutting - Abrasive Impregnated Diamond Bit

Igneous rocks of Junggar Basin are hard, strong abrasive and poor drillability. ROP is low in drilling these rocks, and drilling cycle is long, which seriously affect the process of exploration and development in the Carboniferous reservoir. Considering the igneous rock formation characteristics and the drilling problems, using PDC impregnated diamond high strength, super abrasion as the main rock breaking device, a new type of cutting and grinding of diamond impregnated bit was developed. This bit has the following characteristics: Compound cutting structure with blades and cylindrical Impregnated cutters; big nozzle in the center + deep radiation water slot hydraulic structures; Natural diamond and TSP lengthened gauge design; Selection of 40/50 mesh diamond grit, mix two kinds of inserts with diamond concentration 70%.The bit has the combination of impregnated bit and PDC drill bit technical advantages, which improve the bit adaptability to the formations. Hassan3 Carboniferous igneous formations field test shows that: average ROP is 0.71m / h, single bit footage is 86.5m, which increased by about 20% and 302% respectively compared with high efficient three-roller bits. The success usage of this bit in Hassan 3 provide an effective means for high quality fast drilling in Junggar Basin igneous rock formation.

Heat Transfer Enhancement by Using Different Types of Inserts

Heat transfer enhancement has been always a significantly interesting topic in order to develop high efficient, low cost, light weight, and small heat exchangers. The energy cost and environmental issue are also encouraging researchers to achieve better performance than the existing designs. Two of the most effective ways to achieve higher heat transfer rate in heat exchangers are using different kinds of inserts and modifying the heat exchanger tubes. There are different kinds of inserts employed in the heat exchanger tubes such as helical/twisted tapes, coiled wires, ribs/fins/baffles, and winglets. This paper presents an overview about the early studies on the improvement of the performance of thermal systems by using different kinds of inserts. Louvered strip insert had better function in backward flow compared to forward one. Modifying the shape of twisted tapes led to a higher efficiency in most of the cases excpet for perforated twisted tape and notched twisted tape. Combination of various inserts and tube with artificial roughness provided promising results. In case of using various propeller types, heat transfer enhancement was dependent on higher number of blades and blade angle and lower pitch ratio.

Cutting tools with higher wear resistance are those manufactured by powder metallurgy process, which combines the development of materials and design properties, features of shape-making technology and sintering. The annual global market of cutting tools consumes about US$ 12 billion; therefore, any research to improve tool designs and machining process techniques adds value or reduces costs. The aim is to describe the Spark Plasma Sintering (SPS) of cutting tools in functionally gradient materials, to show this structure design suitability through thermal residual stress model and, lastly, to present two kinds of inserts. For this, three cutting tool materials were used (Al2O3-ZrO2, Al2O3-TiC and WC-Co). The samples were sintered by SPS at 1300°C and 70MPa. The results showed that mechanical and thermal displacements may be separated during thermal treatment for analysis. Besides, the absence of cracks indicated coherence between experimental results and the residual stresses predicted.

Combined operando studies of new electrode materials for Li-ion batteries

The performances of Li-ion batteries depend on many factors amongst which the important ones are the electrode materials and their structural and electronic evolution upon cycling. For a better understanding of lithium reactivity mechanism of many materials the combination of X-Ray Powder Diffraction (XRPD) and Transmission Mossbauer Spectroscopy (TMS) providing both structural and electronic information during the electrochemical cycling has been carried out. Thanks to the design of a specific electrochemical cell, derived from a conventional Swagelock cell, such measurements have been realised in operando mode. Two examples illustrate the greatness of combining XRPD and TMS for the study of LiFe0.75Mn0.25PO4 as positive electrode and TiSnSb as negative electrode. Different kinds of insertion or conversion reactions have been identified leading to a better optimization and design of performing electrodes.

Effect of Insert Style in Milling of Titanium Alloy (TC18)

Titanium alloy (TC18) is new style alloy (α+β). It possesses better performances than common titanium alloy. However, Titanium alloy (TC18) is still classified as difficult-to-machine materials for their poor machinability, which is attributed to relatively low modulus of elasticity, strong alloying tendency or chemical reactivity with cutting materials at higher temperatures and low conductivity of heat generated by the cutting action. Due to the poor machinability of the alloys, selecting of insert style is crucial for tool life and material removal rate. In this work, milling tests, using three kinds of inserts (KC522M, YD201 and SANDVIK 4240), were carried out on this kind of titanium alloy (TC18). The results of tests show that the material removal rate of insert KC522M is the highest, but its tool life is shorter compared with insert SANDVIK 4240. The material removal rate and tool life of insert YD201 do not draw the attention because both of them are relatively low. The abrasion speed of insert SANDVIK 4240 is slow and the efficiency is high, so it is ideal for machining titanium alloy (TC18). In addition, the optimal machining parameters of insert SANDVIK 4240 for milling titanium alloy (TC18) were also given in this paper.

Insertion as a self-repair device and its interactional motivations in Chinese conversation

Conversational repair has been studied for its organizational features, relationship with syntax, and interactional functions. This paper focuses on one particular type of same-turn self-repair, namely, insertions. Examining in detail a collection of insertions culled from a corpus of naturally occurring conversational data in Mandarin Chinese, an investigation has been carried out on the forms and functions of insertions in their sequential contexts. In terms of form and organization, two kinds of insertion are identified: local and global. ‘Local’ insertions operate on trouble-sources located within NPs, VPs, and sentences, achieving in most cases the modification of a reference or a predication. ‘Global’ insertions tend to be used to supplement a narrative with background information designed to make the point of the narrative more readily understood or better appreciated by the recipient. An in-depth analysis of insertions in their situational and sequential contexts reveals a variety of interactional motivations, including facilitating the recognizability of references, doing alignment and identity work, contributing to the construction of accounts, and providing backgrounding information in the delivery of narratives.

Experimental Study on Cutting Characteristics for Buttress Thread Turning of 13%Cr Stainless Steel

13%Cr stainless steel has good comprehensive performance, which makes it suitable to work under the condition of high temperature, high pressure and corrosive environment, such as petroleum industry. It can be used as materials of petroleum pipes with buttress thread. Buttress thread turning is a heavy-load machining, which places high requirement on the cutting tool. Based on the cutting characteristics of buttress thread, the machinability of 13%Cr stainless steel is studied by turning experiments. Two kinds of inserts with different geometries were employed in buttress thread turning experiments. Experimental results show that less cutting force, longer tool life, better chip curling effect and surface quality was acquired for the insert with rake angle of 12° , clearance angle of 3° and chip-curling groove during 13%Cr stainless steel buttress thread turning process.

Anatomic Examination of the Upper Head of the Lateral Pterygoid Muscle Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Clinical Data

The aim of this work was to ascertain the different kinds of insertion of the upper head of the lateral pterygoid muscle (LPM) on the temporomandibular joint and to clarify its physiology to understand its possible role in the dysfunction at the temporomandibular joint. Magnetic resonance imaging examinations were used in this work to achieve a direct view of the LPM on a large number of selected patients with dysfunction at the temporomandibular joint.The study population was composed of 92 patients, of whom 74 were women and 18 were men. Their age range was from 19 to 53 years (mean age, 31 years). The images were analyzed using the following parameters: symmetry of morphologic insertions of the upper head of the LPM, types of muscular insertion divided into 3 groups (A, single bundle on the capsule and condyle; B, one bundle on the disk and a second bundle on the condyle; and C, one bundle only on the disk), and relationship between disk position regarding the condyle in patients with disk dislocations with or without reduction and upper head of the LPM. The chi-square test was used to measure the magnitude of the results.It is possible to impute to the C-type insertion morphology a negative prognostic value for a long-term improvement of disk pathology and to consider the possibility that this muscle may contribute to dislocating the disk when its insertion was directed only on the disk itself. When the upper head of the LPM was inserted on the disk, the percentage of disk dislocation without reduction was greater.

Study on Simulation System of Cut-In Disrepair for the Milling Insert with 3D Complex Groove

The waved-edge milling insert is a kind of insert with 3D complex groove; its cut-in style and cut-in disrepair are different from the flat-groove insert. For researching the relationship between the cut-in style and the cut-in disrepair of the waved-edge milling insert, the cut-in simulation system of the waved-edge milling insert is developed, on the software of UG/Open API combined with VC++. By given different cut-in style parameters, the virtual cut-in process is founded and the proof is supplied for judging cut-in style and studying cut-in disrepair.

Machinability study on 3%Co–12%Cr stainless steel in milling

12%Cr stainless steels are among the most difficult to cut materials because of their high work-hardening trend and high resistance to heat. 3%Co–12%Cr heat-resistant stainless steel is one of the 12%Cr steels used for critical parts in ultra super critical power plant. The main objectives of this study are to investigate wear and failure mechanism of cemented carbide tool of TiCN/TiN multilayer coating during milling process of 3%Co–12%Cr stainless steel and to explore the machinability of the material. The machined surfaces were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The tool life experiments were based on single-tooth-milling using two kinds of inserts with different geometry. It was found with the experiments that cutting tools with 17° rake angle inserts have longer life than that of with rake angle of 28°. SEM and EDX analysis were used to analyze wear and failure mechanism of the tool. It is found with the experiment that tool wear progression follows a three-stage wear pattern and abrasive, attrition, adhesive and diffusive wear appear in different stages. The correlations among cutting conditions, surface integrity and tool wear were also explored.

Cutting Force Experiment and Simulation by Hard Turning GCr15 Bearing Steel with High Speed Considering Cutting Edge Preparation

In this study, hard turning GCr15 bearing steel with high cutting speed is experimental investigated the influence of the CB7015WH insert with chamfer edge and Safe-Lock and the CB7015 insert with a combination of hone radius and a chamfer edge on cutting forces and surface roughness of machined surface. Experimental results show that the cutting forces of the chamfer edge and Safe-Lock is smaller than that of the combination of hone radius and a chamfer edge. Moreover, surface roughness of machined surface with the CB7015WH insert is better. A coupled thermo-mechanical 2D finite element model with general finite element analysis software Deform 2D.8.1 is developed for the influence of two kinds of inserts on cutting forces and effective stress. The simulation results are compared with experimental data and found to be in good agreement.
