Substantial growth in call volume and a healthy percentage of repeat callers are confirming to Wisconsin leaders that they have been on the right track in their implementation of the state's 988 crisis lifeline system. Managers of the state's effort have worked hard to convince the public that 988 offers a safe and compassionate response that in only the rarest of cases will lead to a well‐being check‐in on a caller or law enforcement's involvement.
