Determinants of user acceptance of digital insurance platform service on InsurTech: an empirical study in South Korea

ABSTRACT In recent days, InsurTech services and users are growing rapidly worldwide. InsurTech, a combination of ‘insurance’ and ‘technology’, as an area of Fintech has become an essential innovation strategy of insurance companies. Even if InsurTech services and users are prevalent, there is a lack of empirical research on determinants of user acceptance of InsurTech. The objective of this study is to explore factors determining user acceptance of digital insurance platform services most popular within InsurTech in South Korea. The research model was derived from mainly three theories: the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT), information systems success model (ISSM) and innovation diffusion theory (IDT) with service characteristic factors (system quality, information quality, and service quality) and user characteristic factors (personal innovativeness, self-efficacy, and perceived risk). 249 survey responses from South Korea were analysed. According to the results, information quality exhibited an effect on performance expectancy and effort expectancy whereas service quality was shown to affect only effort expectancy. Furthermore, personal innovativeness affected performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and social influence, self-efficacy exhibited an effect on performance expectancy, and perceived risk affected performance expectancy and effort expectancy.

Maternal and perinatal death surveillance and response in Bangladesh: A case study on measuring impact through health information systems

The health sector in Bangladesh is thriving, and the Maternal and Perinatal Death Surveillance and Response (MPDSR) program has been in place to investigate the causes of maternal and perinatal death. This study aimed to investigate the availability of information systems for measuring the status of an MPDSR program and the planning process and actions developed based on real-time information. This study delved into innovative information systems that can be used to monitor and measure the impact of health programs. The study included both the primary and secondary data. A total of six key informant interviews were conducted to explore the enablers and strengths of information systems. Secondary data were collected from government websites and MPDSR action plans. This study highlights the potential and challenges of governmental health information systems in notifying maternal and neonatal deaths. While the current notification rates are not up to national standards, it is encouraging to see health managers develop action plans and address this issue. The MPDSR information system is a valuable tool to help health managers measure changes in maternal and perinatal mortality rates and design locally targeted interventions. However, several obstacles must be addressed, such as insufficient data, lack of monitoring, and irregularities in MPDSR review meetings. By finding ways to overcome these challenges, we can unlock the full potential of MPDSR and improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes. The success of an MPDSR program relies on how the information is utilized to take action and measure the outcome. Advanced information systems, such as health dashboards, scorecards, and administrative data, can play a vital role in measuring the progress and impact of a program. The primary challenge lies in capturing all deaths, including their causes, and having the capacity to analyze the data effectively to develop action plans for health managers.

DESIGN OF INNOVATIVE MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (ON THE EXAMPLE OF AN OIL & GAS EXPLORATION COMPANY)

The changes that have taken place in the Ukrainian economy in recent years due to the consistent impact of global macroeconomic, epidemiological and regional military factors of the crisis - actualized for enterprises and corporations a complex reorganization of their management systems, an integral component of which are adaptive innovative information systems [1].
 On the basis of the above information, it is possible to draw a preliminary conclusion regarding the importance of such reengineering of the information system of an oil and gas company, the result of which will be an increase in the efficiency of managing the integral complex of business processes of an oil and gas company, which will lead to an increase in the production of own hydrocarbons in Ukraine, a decrease in their cost price, an improvement raw material base of the gas and oil industry [2, 3].
 The scientific and practical results presented in the article regarding the design of management information systems should be taken into account when reengineering corporate information systems not only in the oil and gas industry in Ukraine. Moreover, the obtained results are relevant and applicable not only for local companies, but also for international applications in the context of global, regional macroeconomic and current national crisis phenomena.

Understanding the challenges of blockchain technology adoption: evidence from China’s developing carbon markets

PurposeBlockchain is a disruptive technology that has matured to deliver robust, global, IT systems, yet adoption lags predictions. The authors explore barriers to adoption in the context of a global challenge with multiple stakeholders: integration of carbon markets. Going beyond the dominant economic-rationalistic paradigm of information system (IS) innovation adoption, the authors reduce pro-innovation bias and broaden inter-organizational scope by using technological frames theory to capture the cognitive framing of the challenges perceived within the world’s largest carbon emitter: China.Design/methodology/approachSemi-structured interviews with 15 key experts representing three communities in China’s carbon markets: IT experts in carbon markets; carbon market experts with conceptual knowledge of blockchain and carbon market experts with practical blockchain experience.FindingsPerceived technical challenges were found to be the least significant in explaining adoption. Significant challenges in five areas: social, political legal and policy (PLP), data, organizational and managerial (OM) and economic, with PLP and OM given most weight. Mapping to frames developed to encompass these challenges: nature of technology, strategic use of technology and technology readiness resolved frame incongruence that, in the case explored, did not lead to rejection of blockchain, but a decision to defer investment, increase the scope of analysis and delay the adoption decision.Originality/valueIncreases scope and resolution of IS adoption research. Technological frames theory moves from predominant economic-rational models to a social cognitive perspective. Broadens understanding of blockchain adoption in a context combining the world’s most carbon emissions with ownership of most blockchain patents, detailing socio-technical challenges and delivering practical guidance for policymakers and practitioners.

Gampong Information System Service Innovation in Improving Apparatus Performance in Bener Meriah Regency

Gampong Information System Innovation (SIGAP) and who are the actors involved in innovating gampong information systems as well as obstacles to gampong officials in managing SIGAP. Bukit District, Bener Meriah Regency. Not getting optimal information about SIGAP and inadequate resources in the SIGAP management process are one of the problems that arise. Qualitative research method with a descriptive approach and data collection techniques through: observation, interviews and documentation as well as data analysis techniques starting from, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results of the research show that the village information system innovation in Bukit District, Bener Meriah Regency has not run optimally, starting from the policies issued and implementation has not been optimal so that the innovation that is to be implemented cannot be communicated well, the benefits of village information system service innovation cannot be felt to the fullest. , human resources owned by the sub-district and gampong, operator officers have undergone training so that they can carry out SIGAP in accordance with their main duties and functions but there are no facilities and infrastructure that support public service innovation, information system equipment often has problems. Gampong information system innovation is a special task for the gampong operator, it is the operator who will update the data into the SIGAP application. The actors involved in village information system innovation are DISKOMINSA, DPMG Aceh, DPMK Bener Meriah, KOMINFO Bener Meriah, KOMPAK, sub-district operators, gampong operators, village officials, cadres, midwives and the community.

The role of innovative systems in a small and medium enterprise

Motivation: The considerations contained in the article concern the issues of innovation in information systems of small and medium-sized enterprises. The results of the research on barriers faced when introducing innovation in the surveyed economic entities were presented. The focus was on the analysis of internal financial barriers.Aim: The purpose of the article is to identify and analyze the internal barriers resulting from the implementation of innovative information systems and their impact on the management of small and medium-sized enterprises.Results: The results of the analysis indicate that the dominant innovations in information systems implemented in the surveyed enterprises are innovations in the area of information systems supporting finance and accounting.

School Information System Innovation by Eduversal through Edunav Implementation in Indonesia: A Case Study at SMP-SMA Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School Yogyakarta

Technological innovation is a science which will continue to develop over time, therefore knowledge, skills, and understanding are needed in life, especially in educational institutions. Many researchers have conducted studies on educational system innovations because the implementation of information systems in educational institutions has made a positive contribution to education management. The existence of an educational information system provides convenience in communicating, exchanging information quickly and accurately, as well as an increase in educational services. This research is based on the implementation of the Edunav Information System as an information system innovation which is applied to educational institutions. Edunav is an application for student progress reports in learning in the form of e-reports. The form of the reported activity from the learning process includes attendance, homework, quizzes, unit tests and so on. This study aims to uncover the factors which drive the Edunav Information System to be implemented and the benefits derived from it at the SMP-SMA Kesatuan Bangsa Bilingual Boarding School Yogyakarta. The method used in this research is a qualitative research method with a case study approach. The data of this research are obtained from in-depth interviews, observation, and literature study. In-depth interviews were conducted with several informants by means of a snowball. The results of this study show that there are several factors which encourage the implementation of the Edunav Information System at the Kesatuan Bangsa School, which are 1) complex problems occur in the field as there is no integrated system; 2) manual data processing which is recorded in books; 3) the existence of school initiatives to make changes from conventional to digital schools by increasing the use of information technology; 4) increasing competitiveness among schools is significant, especially for private schools. The perceived benefits of the Edunav Information System are 1) as an information system for schools, parents, and students; 2) as a media to support education; 3) as a means of control for schools, parents and students.

The study highlights the critical need for the development of sophisticated digitalization frameworks and information systems to adapt to the ever-evolving dynamics of regional economies and advocates for the collabourative efforts of researchers and local governments in tailoring AI-driven solutions that cater to the unique demands of individual localities. Although the research highlights the initial benefits provided by BI analytics, it also strongly emphasizes the need for ongoing innovation to maintain long-term success, encouraging academics to improve and streamline current BI analytics programmes. The paper also highlights the crucial importance of computing sustainability, effective administration of massive datasets, seamless human-AI collabouration, geographic computing, and the ethical considerations connected with AI adoption. The study emphasizes the value of utilizing AI's revolutionary potential while proactively tackling the issues it presents by offering a series of doable recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and researchers. In the end, this study makes a significant contribution to the body of knowledge already available about the role of AI in regional economic development, providing priceless insights for those involved in directing the course of regional economies.

Role of Information Systems in Effective Management of Human Resources during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Employees and employers were thrown into uncertainty and chaos during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic, where they had no clear idea of exactly what they should do. Human resource managers operated in crisis mode since the beginning of the pandemic, that is, from 2020 to the first half of 2021. In this period, human resource managers sorted out the possibilities and probabilities on how employees could work from home and formulated strategies for providing them with extra mental and physical care, and they worked harder than ever on corporate-level initiatives to maintain the operations of their companies. The function of Human Resource (HR) has fundamentally changed as businesses have adapted to a new normal and the dust continues to settle. Throughout the pandemic, non-clinical organizations faced uncertain challenges, strategies, and had to make unique decisions regarding human resource management. There have been a variety of detrimental consequences associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, including economic shocks, global health crisis, changes in social behaviors, and challenges for businesses in sustaining their operations. The role of information systems in the management of human resources during the COVID-19 pandemic has been studied in this research. After gathering 400 records from credible publications, duplicates were removed, inclusion and exclusion criteria were used, and 130 papers were finally included in this research. By analyzing the selected papers, it was found in this study that organizations need to be flexible, improve their internal efficiency, acquire talent, and implement innovative changes based on organizational needs in order to ensure smooth business operations. It is possible to improve employees’ mental health, satisfaction, productivity, motivation, and workplace health and safety by implementing appropriate human resource management strategies and innovative information systems and IT tools. A conceptual model that establishes relationships between variables is also presented as an outcome of this research.

EFEKTIVITAS PENERAPAN SIASN TERHADAP KUALITAS PELAYANAN ADMINISTRASI KEPEGAWAIAN DI BADAN KEPEGAWAIAN DAN PENGEMBANGAN SUMBER DAYA MANUSIA KABUPATEN SUMBAWA BARAT

The purpose of this research is to describe the implementation of the Civil Servant Information System (SIASN) innovation in improving the quality of administrative personnel services and to analyze the effectiveness of the implementation of the Civil Servant Information System (SIASN) innovation on the quality of administrative personnel services in the Badan Kepegawaian dan Pengembangan Sumber Daya Manusia (BKPSDM) Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat. The research findings show that the implementation of the Civil Servant Information System (SIASN) innovation in the BKPSDM Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat has been successful, resulting in an improvement in the quality of administrative personnel services. This improvement includes increased efficiency, transparency, and accuracy in administrative personnel matters.Regarding the effectiveness of the SIASN implementation at the BKPSDM Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat, it can be evaluated based on the indicators of Easier, Better, Faster, Cheaper, and Safety. In general, the effectiveness is considered "Effective" as the average score from these five indicators is 120, falling within the range of 105 - 129. The relationship/influence can be observed through the correlation value, with an R Square value of 0.688, indicating that 68.8% of the Quality of Administrative Personnel Services is influenced by the Effectiveness of SIASN Implementation.The hypothesis testing using the t-test resulted in a significance value of 0.000, which is less than 0.05. Based on the t-value, which is 7.860 and greater than the t-table value of 2.048, it can be concluded that the Effectiveness of SIASN Implementation (X) has a significant influence on the Quality of Administrative Personnel Services (Y). These results indicate that the proposed hypothesis is accepted, meaning that the effectiveness of SIASN implementation has a positive impact on the quality of administrative personnel services at the BKPSDM Kabupaten Sumbawa Barat

The impact of SDGs triggering the geographical information system (GIS) innovation influencing urban and rural system mechanism and socio-economic growth

The globe has seen major breakthroughs in a variety of disciplines in recent years. The implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) necessitates a multifaceted approach that incorporates innovative ideas and technology to track, monitor, and evaluate progress towards long-term development goals. Geographic Information System (GIS) innovation is one such disruptive technology that has gained traction in recent years. Geospatial data is used by GIS to give important insights, enhance decision-making, and enable effective resource allocation. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the implementation of SDGs and GIS innovation on the socio-economic boom and concrete and rural machine mechanisms, with a focal point on the mediating role of community engagement and the moderating function of technology infrastructure. A quantitative research method turned into followed, and data was gathered from 320 individuals. A structured questionnaire was administered electronically to measure the constructs of SDGs implementation, GIS innovation, community engagement, socio-economic growth, and urban and rural system mechanisms. Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) was utilized for data analysis. The results indicated a significant and positive impact of both SDG implementation and GIS innovation on community engagement. Community engagement was found to have a significant and positive effect on socio-economic growth and urban and rural system mechanisms. Additionally, technology infrastructure was found to moderate the relationship between community engagement and urban and rural system mechanisms, as well as the relationship between community engagement and socio-economic growth. This study contributes to the existing literature by empirically examining the interplay between SDGs implementation, GIS innovation, community engagement, technology infrastructure, and their impacts on socio-economic growth and urban and rural system mechanisms. The findings highlight the importance of community engagement as a mediator and technology infrastructure as a moderator in achieving sustainable development goals and improving urban and rural systems.

Use case modeling in a research setting of developing an innovative pilgrimage support system

AbstractWith so much confusion around use case modeling, software developers may be reluctant to apply it. However, use cases are easy to apply and have great benefits even in research settings with nonprofessional software developers involved. We report on our experience on this within an innovative tourist information system developed in a research setting of an ongoing Horizon 2020 project named Promotion of Rural Museums and Heritage Sites in the Vicinity of European Pilgrimage Routes (rurAllure). The resulting use case model comprises forty use cases supported by class diagrams, use case diagrams, sequence diagrams, as well as by the domain model and dictionary. Three quarters of use cases have been implemented at least to some extent. Writing use cases provoked intense communication, which helped consolidate the system architecture. The use cases helped validate and better understand the GUI form wireframes designed beforehand and get quickly to a consistent implementation of the system that can be experimented with further in different ways. Finally, the forthcoming extensive system and user experience testing will be guided by the use case model. The paper also exposes the domain model and dictionary along with selected use cases and the hierarchy of user and system actors, which may be useful as such or as a stimulus for the development of other innovative tourist information systems.

Evaluation on Innovation and Development of University Education Management Informatization Construction Under the Background of Big Data

The purpose of this article is to discuss the innovation and development of university education management informationization construction in the context of big data. Through a comprehensive comparison of innovative and traditional university education management information systems, it reveals the advantages of the innovative model in terms of flexibility, efficiency, data-driven decision-making, and personalized learning. The questionnaire survey and comparative analysis reveal the positive impact of big data on education management. However, it also reveals the limitations of the innovative informationized education management model, which requires more technical input and security. Finally, future research suggestions such as integrating data from multiple sources, promoting personalized education, and incorporating artificial intelligence are proposed to promote the innovation and development of information technology construction for education management in universities. This study provides insights and guidance for university administrators and researchers.

The role of teacher agency in using GIS to teach sustainability: an evaluation of a lower secondary school story mapping GIS initiative in Ireland

This paper investigates the role of teacher agency for those who were trained in using an innovative Geographic Information Systems (GIS) approach and incorporated GIS into their teaching. While national curricula increasingly emphasise STEM and sustainability approaches, there has been limited analysis of how teachers can bring new software, including GIS, and new approaches into the classroom. Through an evaluation of a teaching initiative “5*S: Space, Surveyors and Students – STEM and the Sustainable Development Goals” designed to bring GIS technology, satellite data, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into classrooms as activities and resources for teachers and students in Ireland, we examine how teachers can introduce new teaching strategies and platforms into their classrooms. In interviews and a focus group, teachers expressed eagerness for GIS teaching resources for the classroom and identified effective ways they were able to draw on their own teaching philosophy in introducing new concepts around sustainability and STEM education in the classroom. We argue that teacher agency and autonomy play an important role in the ability and development of teachers, departments, and schools to bring new approaches and GIS into the classroom, and we identify key learnings from teachers who were able to utilise the 5*S resources.

The impact of justice on information sharing and innovation performance: a social exchange theory perspective

PurposeWith more demand-driven innovation activities, manufacturers must proactively engage in information sharing activities with their customers for better innovation performance. This study aims to inquire into the impacts of information sharing activities between manufacturers and customers (including information system usage and information content sharing) on manufacturers’ innovation performance and considers interfirm justice (including distributive justice, procedural justice and interactional justice) as information sharing antecedents.Design/methodology/approachThe social exchange theory is applied to develop the conceptual model. The authors examine the conceptual model with the structural equation modeling approach using data collected from 213 Chinese manufacturers.FindingsInteractional justice promotes information system usage. Both interactional justice and procedural justice increase information content sharing, while distributive justice decreases it. Information content sharing directly improves innovation performance and fully mediates the relationship between information system usage and innovation performance.Originality/valueThis research enriches empirical studies on justice-information sharing relationships by systematically investigating the impacts of three types of justice on different information sharing activities. It also adds to the application of social exchange theory in the practices of interfirm justice and information sharing. Besides, it probes into influencing mechanisms of different information sharing activities, information system usage and information content sharing, on innovation performance. The findings can guide firms to implement interfirm justice and information sharing practices for superior innovation performance.

The role of badges to spur frequent travelers to write online reviews

Governance Through Electronic-based Information System by Papua Provincial Government

This research is about regional development efforts through governance with electronic-based information systems in Papua Province, namely Papua One Data Integration (PAITUA), Papua Spatial Management Information System (SIMTARU), Information System for Official Travel Orders (SPPD) Papua Provincial Government and Presence Information System and TPP. Papua Innovation One Data Integration (PAITUA) is a systematic and structured regional governance policy to produce data that is accurate, up-to-date, integrated, accountable, easy to access, can be shared between regional apparatuses, central agencies and other agencies through compliance with data standards , metadata, data interoperability and use of reference code and master data. Papua Spatial Management Information System Innovation (SIMTARU) is an open source application that is part of the Spatial-Based Information Management System (SMIS). The combination of modern cartographic technology with participatory methods in the form of data layers and permits or maps in several categories is used to monitor all activities related to spatial planning in Papua Province. Innovation of Information System for Service Travel Orders (SPPD) for the Government of Papua Province is a web-based information system that is equipped with a set of computers that can be accessed into a data communication network where the server is located at the Papua Communication and Informatics Office and can be accessed online.This study uses a qualitative approach research method. As for data collection with literature review techniques. Development of a Method for the Engineering of Digital Innovation Using Design Science Research

This paper outlines the path towards a method focusing on a process model for the integrated engineering of Digital Innovation (DI) and Design Science Research (DSR). The use of the DSR methodology allows for achieving both scientific rigor and practical relevance, while integrating the concept of innovation strategies into the proposed method enables a conscious approach to classify different Information Systems (IS) artifacts, and provides a way to create, transfer, and generalize their design. The resulting approach allows for the systematic creation of innovative IS artifacts. On top of that, cumulative DSR knowledge can be systematically built up, facilitating description, comparability, and reuse of the artifacts. We evaluate this newly completed approach in a case study for an automated conversational call center interface leveraging the identification of the caller’s age and gender for dialog optimization, based on machine learning models trained on the SpeechDat spoken-language resource database. Moreover, we validate innovation strategies by analyzing additional innovative projects.
