Improving industrial security device detection with convolutional neural networks

<p>Employee safety is paramount in the manufacturing industry to ensure their well-being and protection. Technological advancements, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNN), have significantly enhanced this safety aspect by facilitating object detection and recognition. This project aims to utilize CNN technology to detect personal protective equipment and implement a safety implement detection system. The CNN architecture with the YOLOv5x model was employed to train a dataset. Dataset videos were converted into frames, with resolution scale adjustments made during the data collection phase. Subsequently, the dataset was labeled, underwent data cleaning, and label and bounding box revisions. The results revealed significant metrics in safety equipment detection in industrial settings. Helmet precision reached 91%, with a recall of 74%. Goggles achieved 85% precision and an 87% recall. Mask absence recorded 92% precision and an 89% recall. The YOLOv5x model exhibited commendable performance, showcasing its robust ability to accurately locate and detect objects. In conclusion, the utilization of a CNN-based safety equipment detection system, such as YOLOv5x, has yielded substantial improvements in both speed and accuracy. These findings lay a solid foundation for future industrial security applications aimed at safeguarding workers, fostering responsible workplace behavior, and optimizing the utilization of information technology resources.</p>

Relationship between Teacher Professional Development and use for ICT in Teaching and Learning in Primary Schools in Sabuli Sub-County, Wajir County

Information and communication technology use in education has become an indispensable aspect in the contemporary education system. This explains why many governments including Kenya government have invested in information and communication technology to foster the quality of education. However, despite efforts to avail information and communication technology resources, their use and impact on instructional delivery has been minimal, especially in primary schools in Kenya. Consequently, there has been concern on relationship between availability of information and communication technology and teacher professional development in primary schools. This situation has necessitated the proposed study which is aimed at assessing the relationship between teacher professional development and use for ICT in teaching and learning in primary schools in Sabuli sub-county, Wajir County, Kenya. The study used correlation research design. The target population 94 teacher comprising 30 head teachers and 64 teachers of primary schools in Sabuli sub-county, Wajir County. Given the small number of teachers in public primary schools in Sabuli sub county, the study purposively selected all teachers and head teachers as participant to avoid reducing the ambiguity of a study. Thus, the sample population was 94 respondents. The researcher gathered data using questionnaires from teachers and used semi-structured interview for head-teachers. Data was analysed using descriptive and regression statistics. The findings highlight a statistically significant positive relationship between teacher professional development and ICT use, indicating a direct relationship between the two variables.

Information Communication and Technology Resource Availability and Integration in Instruction among Secondary Schools in Habaswein Sub-county

Incorporation of Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) in learning has been established as crucial for enabling teachers to replace traditional methods of teaching with technology-enabled education facilities. In Kenya, under vision 2030, ICT is deemed to be among the key elements essential for transforming the nation’s development. The Ministry of Education, through the Education Blue print dated 2013-2025, highlights the essence of technology-aided teaching and learning in the school’s national curriculum. This study aims to examine the availability of instructional ICT resources in government secondary schools in Habaswein sub-county Descriptive survey design was employed in this study. The study targeted nine secondary schools in the region. Piloting of study was carried out in Sarif Mixed Day Secondary School within Habaswein Sub-County. Data was gathered using semi-structured interviews and questionnaire to allow the respondents present their unbound views about the issue being explored. The qualitative data collected was analyzed using thematic data analysis method while quantitative data obtained was analyzed using SPSS. The study concludes that information communication and technology resource availability has a significant association (r = 0.644, p<.001) with ICT integration in instructions. The study recommends for provision of adequate ICT resources for effective ICT integration in in instructions in public secondary schools in Habaswein Sub- County.

Procurement process and shortages of essential medicines in public health facilities: A qualitative study from Nepal.

Ensuring access to essential medicines remains a formidable challenge in Nepal. The specific reasons for the shortage of essential medicines within Nepal have not been extensively investigated. This study addresses challenges associated with access to essential medicines, procurement process difficulties, and functionality of inventory management systems at different levels of public health facilities. Fifty-nine semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with health managers and service providers at provincial and local levels in six randomly selected districts of Bagmati province, Nepal. Interviews were audiotaped and transcribed verbatim, and the results were analyzed using the inductive approach and were later mapped within the four domains of "Procurement of essential medicines". The major barriers for the effective management of essential medicines included delays in the procurement process, primarily locally, leading to frequent stock-out of essential drugs, particularly at the health post level. Additionally, challenges arise from storage problems, mainly due to insufficient storage space and the need to manage additional comorbidities related to COVID-19. Other identified challenges encompass the absence of training on logistics management information systems, a lack of information technology resources in primary health facilities, inadequate qualified human resources to operate the IT system, and insufficient power backup. Moreover, unrealistic demand estimation from the service points, inadequate transportation costs, and manual inventory management systems further contributed to the complex landscape of challenges. This study identified procurement delays as the primary cause of essential medicine shortages in Bagmati Province, Nepal. We recommend implementing comprehensive procurement guidelines, collaborative training, and dedicated budgets to address this issue. Improving the procurement and inventory management process in low-resource settings requires a well-trained workforce, suitable storage spaces, and enhanced coordinated administrative tiers within health facilities at different levels to ensure the year-round availability of essential medicines in these settings.

The Health Management Information System and HIV and AIDS monitoring: Insights from Ethiopia

Background: A well-performing health information system (HIS) provides timely, complete, accurate and easily retrievable data. However, HIS in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), including Ethiopia, is highly complex and influenced by pressures from donors, politics and technical factors. Hence, these countries experience persistent challenges in producing quality data and difficulties using health management information system (HMIS) data from their HISs.Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate how HMIS was perceived and utilised in HIV and AIDS monitoring in Ethiopia, and views regarding the influence of determinants on the use of HMIS.Method: A qualitative evaluative case study using focus group discussions with data producers and users was conducted in selected health facility in Addis Ababa. A purposive critical case sampling was used to recruit participants.Results: Key findings revealed that HIV and AIDS-specific indicators, information and communication technology (ICT) and other related resources were critical barriers to the successful use of the HMIS. Participants believed these technical issues impacted the quality of data adversely and, subsequently, the conversion of that data to information and using it to monitor the HIV and AIDS programme’s performance.Conclusion: Technical factors affected all strategic decisions taken by the organisation. The health facilities did not process information as expected. However, staff performed the HMIS tasks with the tools available as they tried to make sense of data.Contribution: This study contributed to the body of knowledge by identifying the technical factors on data quality and use of HMIS for HIV and AIDS monitoring.

Additionally, the Dynamic Capabilities Framework underscores the importance of an organization's ability to adapt and innovate in response to changing market conditions, highlighting the role of IT in facilitating agility and flexibility. The Strategic Alignment Model offers a structured approach to ensuring coherence between business strategy, IT strategy, and organizational infrastructure, enabling seamless integration and alignment. Value Chain Analysis provides a framework for understanding how IT can add value across different stages of the value chain, informing strategic decision-making and resource allocation. Moreover, IT Governance Frameworks, such as COBIT and ITIL, offer guidelines for effective management and governance of IT resources to support strategic objectives. Business Process Reengineering (BPR) is also examined as a methodology for redesigning business processes to align with strategic goals and leverage IT capabilities. Through an exploration of these theoretical frameworks, this paper aims to equip organizations with the knowledge and tools necessary to achieve sustained competitive advantage through the strategic alignment of IT and business strategies. Information and Communications Technology Resources and Mobile Learning in times of COVID-19.

The increase in the Use of Mobile Learning due to the technological trend and even more triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic have called into question the capabilities of the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Resources that students have. The objective is to know the status (photograph) of the capabilities of these ICT Resources and validate if they are indeed related to the Use of Mobile Learning. Descriptive statistics were used for the analysis of satisfaction levels and inferential statistics for the corroboration of correlational hypotheses and levels of association between variables. We worked with data from 70 graduate students obtained through a survey consisting of a questionnaire of 40 Likert questions with values from 1 to 5. Satisfaction levels were high for ICT Resources (44.29% Satisfied and 32.86% Totally Satisfied) and the Use of Mobile Learning (42.86% Satisfied and 30.00% Totally Satisfied) demonstrating that many students had the ideal capabilities of ICT Resources that allowed them to use Mobile Learning. In turn, the results obtained were for Spearman's Rho (0.837 and p < 0.05), Chi-Square (171.287 and p < 0.05), Phi Coefficient (1.564 and p < 0.05), Cramer's V (0.782) and Contingency Coefficient (0.843), demonstrating that between ICT Resources and the Use of Mobile Learning there was a statistically significant, strong relationship, positive and with a high degree of dependence, where the Use of Mobile Learning depended on ICT Resources.

The study, which is being conducted in the context of the widespread use of information technology in Moroccan companies, focuses on examining the success factors of IT implementation. This is a crucial step in maximizing the value of information technology investments. The goal is to address concerns regarding the delay in digital transformation and the role of information technology in establishing a sustainable and irreplaceable competitive advantage. The research methodology utilizes a qualitative approach, specifically a single case study with semi-structured interviews for data collection. The theoretical framework incorporates the resource-based view (RBV) and contingency theories. The key findings of the study emphasize the challenges encountered during information technology implementation, especially concerning the complementarity of organizational and human resources with information technology resources. Based on these challenges, the factors contributing to successful information technology implementation are categorized into three groups: pre-implementation phase, alignment of information technology strategy, and collaboration and coordination among all stakeholders involved in the implementation process.

ANALISIS MANAJEMEN RESIKO TEKNOLOGI INFORMASI DAN PEMETAAN MATURITY LEVEL MENGGUNAKAN FRAMEWORK COBIT 4.1 (Studi Kasus: PT. CAHAYA BINTANG)

Due to the rapid development of information technology now, every business must always adapt and take advantage of the latest information technology. The use of information technology provides solutions and benefits for companies in operational, business and financial problems. Information technology certainly needs a kind of framework that makes it easier for companies to map the risks that might occur and in what way the company determines the strategy used so that these risks can be resolved. However, the use of information technology has a significant risk of failure and requires a relatively high investment cost. Such businesses require consistent management of information technology applications. Companies that want to know what risks will arise when implementing information technology really need risk management. To prove that information technology resources are aligned with business processes, carry out risk assessments, manage risks perfectly, carry out maturity level processes, and make recommendations in order to achieve targets that are comparable to company goals, the COBIT 4.1 framework is the framework that best suits the company's interests. The method used for this research consists of several stages, namely, literature study, information gathering, objective setting, risk identification, risk assessment, risk response, risk monitoring, maturity level determination, and making recommendations.

EXPLORING THE DIGITAL LITERACY OF PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS: A STUDY ON THE TEACHING ASSISTANCE PROGRAM

In today's educational landscape, digital literacy has emerged as a critical skill for pre-service teachers, enabling them to effectively utilize technology in classrooms and provide students with valuable information technology resources. This study aims to investigate the digital literacy levels of pre-service teachers participating in a teaching assistance program at school. Employing descriptive statistics, the research analyzed data collected from pre-service teachers enrolled in the Teaching Assistance Program, using a framework designed to assess teacher digital literacy across five key dimensions: information management, team-based learning, information processing and presentation, digital integrity, and social responsibility. The findings reveal that pre-service teachers demonstrated a high level of digital literacy across all dimensions. While highlighting their readiness to employ information and communications technology (ICT) for educational purposes, the results also underscore an ongoing need for further development in digital literacy skills. Importantly, these findings contribute significantly to providing insightful data regarding the level of digital literacy of pre-service teachers. Next, future research endeavors should address the limitations of this study by employing diversified methodologies and ensuring broader sample representations.

Theoretical investigation of multiplexed quantum light source in fiber ring cavities with oscillating dispersion

Correlated photon pairs are the core resources for photonic quantum information technology. Multiplexed quantum light sources can appreciably improve the efficiency of quantum information processing. Here, we develop a coupled-mode mean-field model and its corresponding semiclassical theory analysis to investigate the multiple parametric-gain sidebands in dispersion-oscillation fiber-ring cavities. We present a cycle transfer matrix method to give the analytic expressions for parametric gain. From this, we can reach a physical insight, that is additional degree of freedom introduced by the modulation along fiber length is responsible for the multiple parametric-gain sidebands, where the underlying mechanism is the quasi-phase matching of four-wave mixing. Two twin signal and idler photons generated from parametric-gain sidebands are appreciably of frequency and temporal correlation, revealing promising applications in frequency-multiplexed photon pair sources. When we construct an optical cavity with spliced single mode fiber and dispersion shifted fibers, numerous parametric-gain sidebands grow in the vicinity of zero group-velocity-dispersion wavelengths of two fibers, i.e., 1310 nm and 1550 nm, both corresponding to low transmission loss windows of fibers. Therefore, frequency-multiplexed quantum light sources established on dispersion-oscillation fiber-ring cavities have the advantages in economy, remote transmission, scalability and compatibility with fiber communication network. Our work offers inspiration for the development of a multiplexed quantum light source.

The Effect of Using Information Technology and HR Development on Employee Performance at CV. Prenada Media Group Medan

This research aims to examine the influence of the use of information technology and Human Resources (HR) development on employee performance at CV. Prenada Media Group Medan. The research method uses a quantitative approach with multiple linear regression analysis techniques. Data was collected through a survey of 45 employees, and statistical analysis was carried out using the t test, F test, and coefficient of determination test (R2). The research results show that the use of information technology and HR development together has a positive and significant influence on employee performance. These findings are consistent with previous research and contribute to understanding the importance of integrating information technology and human resource development in increasing workforce effectiveness and productivity in the corporate environment.

Eliminating Non-Value-Added Activities and Optimizing Manufacturing Processes Using Process Mining: A Stock of Challenges for Family SMEs

Family small and medium enterprises (FSMEs) differ from non-family SMEs regarding leadership type, human resource management practices, innovation orientation, change management, information and communication technology deployment, process maturity, and resource availability. These differences present challenges when leading any change. Process mining (PM) tools can optimize process value and eliminate non-added-value activities in FSMEs based on “Event Logs”. The present study investigates how a PM project is implemented in an FSME operating in the agri-food sector, focusing on challenges faced in every project phase to extract the most appropriate process that eliminates all sources of waste and bottleneck cases. Drawing upon the L*Lifecycle methodology combined with quality and lean management tools such as the fishbone diagram, Pareto diagram, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE), this study applied a PM project to a manufacturing process for an FSME operating in the agri-food sector. To achieve theoretical production capacity (TPC) and customer satisfaction, the method was analyzed and optimized using Disco and ProM toolkits. The results analysis using Disco and ProM toolkits gave clues about the organizational and technical causes behind the manufacturing process’s inefficiency. First, OEE showed that the studied FSME is struggling with equipment availability. Then, the implementation of the L*Lifecycle methodology allowed for the identification of five critical causes. An action plan to eliminate causes was proposed to the FSME managers.

Information and Communication Technology on Human Resource Performance in Nigeria Port Authority (NPA)

This study investigates information and communication technology and human resources performance in Nigeria Port Authority, Lagos State. To achieve the objectives of the study, a descriptive survey was used. Primary data was collected using a closed ended structured questionnaire. The population for this study comprised of the entire staffs of Nigeria Port Authority in Lagos State which was 455 while the sample size it’as 216, this was determined with the application of Taro Yamane formulae n Ni —N (e) 2 The questionnaire was administered personally by the researcher for data collection, out 216 questionnaires administered, 162 responses and only 150 responses was used for the analysis resulting in a response rare of 69 percent which was considered as a sufficient representation of the organization. The study findings revealed that majority of the respondents agreed thcit there is a relationship between information and communication technology and human resources performance aid has higher strong positive ef/ct of .156 (.057), .667 (.000) and .771 (.000) at∝=0 respectively. Based on the fIndings, the researcher recommends that the management of Nigeria Port Authority should provide internet facilities to all their employees irrespective of the department. This is to ensure smooth and effective information to their clients be at home and abroad. Thus enable them performs better on the job to meet customer service satisfactorily. The study also recommends that for Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA,) to remain profitable by enhancing their asset base through sensitization oft/ic customers, they should app/v both mobile and internet networking from the comfort of their seats at home in order to reduce longer queues usually seen at the port. As the results showed, higher profitability is positivly related to high rate of ICT use.

Information technology and higher education institutions (HEI) performance: the mediating role of organizational capability

Research aims: This study aims to examine the effect of Information Technology (IT) on the performance of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in Indonesia. Also, this study investigates organizational capability as a mediating variable.Design/Methodology/Approach: This research was conducted at HEIs covering all regions in Indonesia, namely Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Nusra, and Bali, as well as Papua. The research sample was 368 HEIs. The data were obtained by distributing questionnaires, and hypothesis testing was conducted using the Partial Least Square (PLS) method. Research findings: The study revealed that IT positively affected organizational capability and HEI performance. Organizational capability yielded a positive effect on HEI performance. Furthermore, organizational capability mediated the effect of IT on HEI performance.Theoretical contribution/ Originality: This study contributes to the research area dealing with IT, HEIs performance, and organizational capability as a mediating variable. Practitioner/Policy implication: HEI managers should improve their IT resources to enhance organizational capability, thereby improving organizational performance.Limitation/Implication: The limitation of the study is that the data collection only used questionnaires, so the information obtained was not in-depth.

Audit Keamanan Sistem Informasi Puskesmas Dengan Standar ISO/IEC 27001:2013 Dan Framework COBIT 5

One of the problems of a company is the security of information systems. High security is needed to maintain the confidentiality and misuse of information within the organization. To improve the security of business operations and the quality of information technology resources, it is necessary to evaluate the security of existing information technology assets. Just like one of the systems at PT Infokes Indonesia, namely the Health Center Information System, this is a multi-functional application based on a web base so that it can be used by more than one user at the same time as patient recording is done electronically. The purpose of this study was to conduct a security audit of the Health Center Information System at PT. Infokes Indonesia uses ISO/IEC 27001:2013 and the COBIT 5 framework to document audit findings of information system audits at PT. Infokes Indonesia to make an audit report. Based on the results of research that has been conducted through interviews and questionnaires using the COBIT 5 framework and using the APO13 sub domain, the results show that Existing Capability is at level 1 while the expected Capability Level is at level 3 so that the Capability Gap is 2.

ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY GOVERNANCE MANAGEMENT OF WORK UNITS IN XYZ AGENCIES WITH THE COBIT FRAMEWORK 2019

Information Technology (IT) governance has become an important topic in information system management because it can affect the ability of companies/organizations and government agencies to achieve goals. Maturity level assessment in the Information and Communication Technology Division (Div TIK) work unit needs to be carried out in order to determine the current condition of IT governance. Maturity level measurement is carried out using the COBIT 2019 framework, namely by mapping organizational goals into COBIT 2019 so that related domains are obtained. Measuring the level of maturity in the Div TIK work unit shows that there are 8 process domains. The EDM01, APO07, APO08, BAI01, and MEA04 domains are at level 3 while the APO04, BAI11, and DSS04 domains are at level 4. Measuring the value of the gap between the current maturity level and the expected maturity level is also carried out. The biggest discrepancy value is in the APO04 domain with a value of 1.48, and the smallest is in the APO07 domain with a value of 0.59. Analysis of improvements that can be carried out to increase the maturity level include periodically assessing whether the agreed IT governance mechanisms are operating effectively; conducting regular reviews to assess skills evolution; and controlling IT services, assets and resources.

Benefits, facilitators, and barriers of electronic medical records implementation in outpatient settings: A scoping review.

This scoping review examined the breadth and depth of evidence on Electronic Medical Record (EMR) implementation benefits in outpatient settings. Following PRISMA guidelines for scoping reviews, five databases were searched, and 24 studies were retained and reviewed. Benefits, facilitators, and barriers to EMR implementation were extracted. Direct benefits included improved communication/reporting, work efficiency, care process, healthcare outcomes, safety, and patient-centredness of care. Indirect benefits were improved financial performance and increased data accessibility, staff satisfaction, and decision-support usage. Barriers included time and financial constraints; design/technical issues; limited information technology resources, skills, and infrastructure capacity; increased workload and reduced efficiency during implementation; incompatibility of existing systems and local regulations; and resistance from healthcare professionals. Facilitators included training, change management, user-friendliness and alignment with workflow, user experience with EMRs, top management support, and sufficient resources. More rigorous, systematic research is needed, using relevant frameworks to inform healthcare policies and guide EMR projects in outpatient areas.
