Investigating Engineering Students’ Needs for ICT Integration in ESP Classes

The innovations in science and technology and the continuous development of educational theories and methods have urged the need for creative uses of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in English language teaching in Moroccan Higher Education and especially in the teaching and learning of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). For this reason and others, the present study aims to investigate the integration of ICT in ESP classes by identifying engineering students’ needs for ICT integration in ESP classes at the Engineering school (ENSAM), Meknes. To meet this aim, the study adopted a quantitative method approach, which utilized a close-ended questionnaire administered to 64 civil engineering students. The data gathered was analyzed through Statistical Package of Social Sciences (SPSS). The results revealed the significance of ICT integration in ESP classes for Engineering students. Furthermore, the students expressed a number of lacks and necessities to improve their English proficiency level in general. The current research contributes to expanding literature on ESP in Morocco. Additionally, the implications and recommendations proposed will guide future practices and reforms in ESP teaching and learning.

A Needs Analysis Study on Interdisciplinary Gender Equality Education: Turkish Context

The purpose of this research was to identify the needs for gender equality education. For this purpose, the views of mathematics, science and information technology teachers on the current situation of gender equality in schools were determined. In addition, the awareness of sixth, seventh and eighth grade middle school students on gender equality was examined. This study was a descriptive research conducted in a qualitative context. In data collection, interview form on teachers’ views and written view form on students’ awareness about gender equality were used. Research data were collected in the spring semester of the 2017-2018 academic year. The deductive analysis method was used in the analysis of the data. In line with the results of the research, it is thought that an interdisciplinary gender equality education will be beneficial to improve students' awareness.

Penerapan Project Based Learning Pada Mata Kuliah Matematika Diskrit Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemecahan Masalah

Learning that focuses on students' problem-solving abilities is the focus of higher education. Students who are able to develop critical thinking skills in solving problems are a necessity along with changes in workforce capability needs in the informatics era. One of the mathematics lessons at the higher education unit level is discrete mathematics. The problem that arises in discrete mathematics learning is that learning outcomes and the percentage of students completing lectures are still relatively low. The aim of this research is to improve students' solving abilities through the application of the project based learning method. This research uses classroom action research methods. The application of the project based learning method in discrete mathematics courses with graph material can improve students' abilities in solving mathematical problems, this can be seen from the research results after corrective actions were taken in learning activities in Cycles I and II. Based on the research results, it shows that through project-based learning, third semester RB class students in the Informatics Engineering Education Program at Indraprasta University PGRI Jakarta have improved their ability to solve mathematical problems in terms of individual grades and classical completion.

The paper also highlights the potential benefits and prospects of utilizing ICT in ELT, including enhanced engagement, interactive learning opportunities, and exposure to authentic language resources. Drawing on qualitative data, the research aims to provide insights into the current status of ICT integration in ELT, shedding light on both barriers and opportunities. This analysis offers recommendations for addressing challenges and maximizing the benefits of ICT integration, thereby contributing to the improvement of English language education in Bangladesh's educational landscape.

Advantages and Limitations of Information Technology in Preschool Education Teaching

With the progress of society and economic development, the innovation of information technology is rapidly changing our way of life and work. This change not only affects adults but also deeply influences our children, especially those in the early stages of education. The application of information technology in preschool education can greatly enrich educational content and provide diverse teaching methods. Through multimedia forms such as animations, music, and videos, teachers can vividly impart knowledge to young children and stimulate their interest in learning. At the same time, information technology can help teachers better understand each child, know their learning needs and individual characteristics, and thus formulate more suitable teaching plans for their growth. However, in practical application, the integration of information technology and preschool education also faces some challenges. Therefore, teachers should clarify the positioning of information technology as an auxiliary tool that cannot replace traditional educational methods. While using information technology, teachers should strengthen interaction with young children and pay attention to their emotional needs.

Empowering teachers: Enhancing Business Studies teachers' technology integration skills through technology peer mentoring

Schools worldwide are continually seeking out various strategies to improve teachers' skills in integrating technology. One strategy that some schools adopt to enhance teachers' technology integration skills is technology peer mentoring. This qualitative study investigates how technology peer mentoring is used to enhance the technology integration skills of business studies teachers in selected schools in South Africa. Interpretivism was adopted as the research paradigm, and an exploratory case study was used as the research design for this study. Purposive sampling was used to select six business studies teachers from six secondary schools located in the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data collected through semi-structured interviews. The study revealed that business studies teachers benefited immensely from their colleagues in the fields of Computer Application Technology and Information Technology during technology peer mentoring. This is because IT and CAT teachers possess both pedagogical and technological knowledge, which makes it easier for them to mentor business studies teachers in integrating technology into their instructional practices. The study concluded that technology peer mentoring helps enhance teachers' technology integration skills. Therefore, the study recommends that technology peer mentoring be adopted in South African schools as part of the strategies to enhance teachers' technology integration skills.

Bibliometric and Visual Insights Into Higher Education Informatization

Higher education informatization (HEI) is an interdisciplinary field that examines the use and integration of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in higher education. This paper provides a bibliometric and visual analysis of the research trends, patterns, and topics in this field. Using the Web of Science database, the authors selected and analyzed 199 SCI and SSCI papers on HEI published from 2000 to 2023 by VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. The results indicate that the publication volume of HEI research has grown significantly in recent years. The author network shows the collaboration and contribution of different researchers and institutions, while the journal network reveals the multidisciplinary nature and scope of the field. The keyword network and the burst keyword analysis identify the main research themes and the emerging hot topics in HEI. The co-citation network of sources illustrates the theoretical and methodological foundations and influences of the field. The paper concludes with some implications and suggestions for future HEI research.

Bridging the Gap: Aligning Higher Education Priorities with the Shifting Job Landscape in the Philippines

This study looks at how the present skills need, the dynamic labor market shifts in the Philippines, and the academic programs promoted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) connect. The study uses document analysis, guided by Cleary et al.'s (2017) Skills Alignment approach, to link high-demand skills and key economic sectors with CHED's prioritized programs. Using the most recent Labor Market Information reports and the CHED Memorandum Order No. 10, series of 2021, the results show that engineering, IT education, and business degrees significantly aligned with the digital economy, in-demand employment, and rising industries. Nonetheless, there are gaps where specific jobs tangentially align with the initiatives that CHED prioritizes. This paper offers suggestions on how to better align academic programs with the changing needs of the labor market.

Evolution of Islamic Education Teachers' Competence in Indonesia

This research aims to outline a study that examines the historical development, current status, and future direction of Islamic education teacher competency in the Indonesian context. Using a qualitative method approach from interviews with educators, policymakers, and academics. This report highlights the role of government initiatives and Islamic education institutions in improving teacher competency, focusing on areas such as pedagogical skills, subject matter expertise, and the integration of information and communications technology (ICT) in teaching. The results of the research show that teachers must reflect uswah alhasanah, teachers do good deeds, have an educational orientation to worship for Allah, have a clear mind in daily life, have a pure heart, master in-depth religious knowledge (ulumuddiniyah), have the ability to educate intellectually (tarbiatul aqliyah), have the ability to educate the heart (tarbiyatul qulubiyah), have the ability to educate character (tarbiyatul khulukiyah), have the ability to educate physically (tarbiyatul jismiyah) and have the ability to educate socially (tarbiyatul ijtimaiyah). These findings indicate that although significant progress has been made in improving the competency of Islamic education teachers in Indonesia, continued efforts are needed to address emerging challenges and to ensure that teachers are equipped to provide high-quality, relevant, and inclusive education. This research contributes to the broader discourse regarding teacher competency in Islamic education, offering relevant insights for educators, policymakers, scholars, and stakeholders involved in religious education globally.

TEACHING COMPUTER MODELING TO INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY STUDENTS: A PRACTICE-ORIENTED APPROACH

A structural model of modeling competence in information technology education is presented, which includes three main elements: subject-specific knowledge; meta-knowledge about models and simulation and modeling practice. The structural model of modeling competence develops the theory and methodology of teaching modeling to schoolchildren. A survey of experts was conducted, which showed high perceived usefulness, ease of use, and behavioral intention to use the proposed modeling competency model for information technology classes.

Understanding Employer Attractiveness for Generation Z in the IT Industry

Purpose: This research delves into understanding the selection criteria of Generation Z, specifically those with an IT education background, in choosing potential employers. The study aims to bridge the gap in knowledge regarding employer attractiveness from the perspective of this emerging workforce cohort.
 Design/Method/Approach: A quantitative approach was employed, utilizing a survey method to gather data. The study predominantly targeted students from an Austrian business school, resulting in a sample size of 156 respondents. The survey included a Conjoint Analysis to evaluate various employer attributes.
 Findings: The findings highlight the significance of workplace flexibility, Work-Life Balance, and meaningful, varied job tasks for Generation Z. Salary emerged as a crucial factor influencing their choice of an attractive employer. While symbolic attributes were slightly more critical than instrumental ones, no significant impact of professional experience on the perceived relevance of symbolic attributes was found.
 Theoretical Implications: The study enriches the Instrumental-Symbolic Framework by validating the importance of symbolic attributes for Generation Z.
 Practical Implications: Practitioners can leverage these insights to tailor their Employer Branding strategies to attract Generation Z, focusing on flexible work arrangements, meaningful work, and competitive salaries.
 Originality/Value: This research provides new insights into the preferences of Generation Z in the IT sector, highlighting the nuanced differences in their employer selection criteria compared to previous generations.
 Research Limitations/Future Research: The study’s limitations include its focus on two specific educational institutions and the lack of rural-urban differentiation among respondents. Future research could explore these criteria across diverse geographic and institutional contexts.

Technological Tools in Higher Education: A Qualitative Analysis from the Perspective of Students with Disabilities

The integration of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education has emerged as a transformative element, contributing significantly to the establishment of more inclusive educational environments. In this context, understanding the impact of technological tools becomes crucial to identifying the opportunities and limitations that students encounter when incorporating these resources in university classrooms. The main objective of this research is to analyse the impact of ICT use in higher education, with a specific focus on the perceptions of students with disabilities. Information was collected through interviews with university students with disabilities. The results reveal both advantages and difficulties and underline the importance of designing and implementing technologies in an inclusive way. Key issues relating to accessibility and participation are addressed, providing valuable insights for improving inclusive higher education in the digital age.

Attitude of healthcare workers towards information technology

<p><strong>Introduction.</strong> Digital literacy includes things like being able to use information systems and supporting infrastructure. With the increasing use of technology in healthcare, it is important for healthcare staff to be digitally literate. The aim of the paper is to determine the attitudes of primary and secondary health care workers towards the use of computers in health care and to examine the influence of sociodemographic factors on the information literacy of health care workers. <br /><strong>Methods.</strong> The research was conducted according to the principle of a cross-sectional study. The research included 80 respondents, healthcare workers. Data analysis included methods of descriptive and inferential statistics. The data will be presented in the form of a table.<br /><strong>Results.</strong> The results showed that certain socio-demographic factors influenced the attitude of health workers towards the use of computers. The most significant factors were the level of education and previous IT education, but the time the respondents sopent working on the computer and whether they used the computer exclusively at work or at home also had an impact.<br /><strong>Conclusion. </strong>Healthcare workers showed a positive attitude towards the use of computers in healthcare. The most significant socio-demographic factors influencing knowledge of computer work are the level of education of the respondents and whether and where they received their education in information technology.</p>

СОВРЕМЕННЫЕ ПОДХОДЫ К ОЦИФРОВКЕ ОБРАЗОВАТЕЛЬНОГО ПРОЦЕССА В РАМКАХ ПОДГОТОВКИ СПЕЦИАЛИСТОВ ЭКОНОМИЧЕСКИХ СПЕЦИАЛЬНОСТЕЙ

The article examines modern methods and approaches to digitization of the educational process in the context of training specialists in the field of economics. The paper analyzes various aspects of the use of information and communication technologies (ICT) in education, such as online courses, webinars, electronic textbooks and distance learning platforms. The advantages and challenges associated with the introduction of digital technologies into the educational process are also discussed, as well as practical recommendations for their effective use are offered. The author also examines examples of successful practice of digitization of education in economic fields and conclusions about the prospects for the development of this area.

Use of open collaborative learning system and a methodology for measuring its effectiveness

Relevance. This study is devoted to the problem of using open co-education in the training of computer science teachers in universities of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The problems covered are relevant in the context of the development of the education system, and the rethinking and updating of existing teaching methods used in education, especially in the field of training teachers in the field of information technology. Purpose. The purpose of this study is to determine the effectiveness of the use of open collaborative training of teachers in information technology to increase teachers� awareness of such teaching methods. Methodology. In the current study, an experiment based on the evaluation of three parameters was used for two groups of students � one of the groups of students was taught according to the conventional form of education, the second group of students used the form of open co-education, which is considered in this study. Results. As a result of the introduction of this technique, an increase in attendance was obtained: in the experimental group, the average number of classes attended was 42.875, compared with 39.02 in the control group (Eta-squared value 0.0093) and with 40.3 in the experimental group itself before the introduction of the technique (Eta-squared value 0.0093). Exam results: the experimental group had an average score of 4.33, compared with 3.58 in the control group (Eta-squared value 0.0035) and 3.8 in the experimental group itself, compared with the period when the group was trained in the conventional way (Eta-squared value 0.0033). Similarly, a decrease in the dropout rate was noted � from 8.33% and 5.56% to 0%, respectively. Conclusions. In other words, there is an improvement in all indicators as a result of the introduction of open collaborative learning. Thus, it is possible to recommend this methodology for educators who teach future teachers in the field of information technology. Exploring Informatizaon Instructional Core Competence of Higher Vocational College Teacher for Professional Development

In the dynamic landscape of educational information technology, the proficiency of vocational college teachers in this domain has garnered significant attention due to its rapid evolution. The purpose of this study is to comprehensively explore the foundational aspects of vocational college teachers' competence in information technology instruction. The primary objective is to augment these teachers’ capabilities and foster their professional growth in the realm of information technology teaching. The six pivotal elements rooted in TPACK (Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge) are analysed using a literature-based approach. These elements encompass technological knowledge, content knowledge, pedagogical knowledge, technological pedagogical knowledge, pedagogical content knowledge, and technological pedagogical content knowledge. The findings illustrate the distinctive contribution of each element to the information technology teaching competence of vocational college teachers, thereby facilitating their holistic professional development. The nuanced enhancement of these competency indicators equips teachers to adeptly navigate the demands of information technology instruction, cultivates their professional prowess, and enables them to deliver the highest-quality educational services.
