Utilization of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic bottle waste as membrane with several modifications for the removal of chromium ions in wastewater

The increasing demand for products that use the electroplating process has caused the growth of the electroplating industry in various countries to increase. This growth was followed by an increase in the amount of toxic and hazardous chromium waste in the water. Continuous technology development is needed to overcome these problems. One of the technologies that has been developed until now is membrane technology. On the other hand, plastic bottle waste, which increases every year (381.73 million tons), has the property of forming films or thin layers. Therefore, the use of plastic bottle waste into a low-cost, sustainable, and environmentally friendly membrane material has great potential. In this study, the immersion-precipitation phase inversion method was used in the membrane preparation process by modifying fillers (zeolite NaY) to improve membrane performance. Determination of fillers was studied. Furthermore, the fabricated membranes were tested for their performance in chromium ion contamination in wastewater. The results showed that the PET-W membrane could produce a water flux of 292.74 Lm−2h−1bar−1 and a chromium ion flux of 544.94 Lm−2h−1bar−1. The addition of zeolite NaY increased the percent removal from PET-W membrane to 10 times (from 4.07 to 47.8).

Comparison of Competitiveness of the Textile Industry between China and the World’s Three Major Textile Centers

From the results of China's "13th Five-Year Plan". Scientific and technological innovation has achieved remarkable results, and the textile industry has achieved the development of the entire industrial chain. Therefore, this article analyzed the international competitiveness of China's textile industry by comparing China's textile industry with the countries related to the world's three major textile centers. Firstly, based on the niche theory and the Michael Porter Diamon model, an evaluation index system for the textile industry niche was constructed. For countries, related to the three major centers of the textile industry, analyzed the relative niche and comprehensive niche scores of each dimension from 2016 to 2019. The world textile industry was measured according to the niche theory. The Vulnerability Index was calculated from normalized data. The aim was to explore the competitiveness of the textile industry in various countries as well as the future development potential and trends. According to the research results, the textile industry competitiveness of the 10 countries was divided into three levels. The first level was China, the second level was the United States, and India and the remaining seven countries were at the third level. The results showed that as of 2019, the comprehensive competitiveness of my country's textile industry was far ahead of other countries, and development potential and trends were better than in other countries in the future. However, at the same time, to further improve the international competitiveness and comprehensive strength of the textile industry, there was also necessary to pay attention to the coordinated development of social and government support.

A MEASUREMENT MODEL OF SUCCESSFULL HALAL INDUSTRY

The halal industry has experienced accelerated growth globally, contributing RM7.4 trillion (USD 2.3 trillion). Therefore, this study proposes a conceptual model of the halal industry’s success within a literature review, including a descriptive-qualitative approach. It is utilised to define the indicators concerning the success of the halal industry and predictor factors that have a significant effect. This study is a conceptual work that identifies several factors that influence the success of the halal industry by surveying several factors that affect them. The survey was performed through a literature review. This study displays three indicators of success in the halal sector: business growth, growth, the decision to buy, and financial performance. In addition, this study discovered that four factors are predicted to significantly affect the success of the halal industry: halal certification, product quality, governance support, and Sharia banks. The results obtained from conceptual models and hypotheses are demanded to examine this effect. It is also utilised to design new constructions validated to confirm the halal industry in various countries. Logistics Efficiency under Carbon Constraints Based on a Super SBM Model with Undesirable Output: Empirical Evidence from China’s Logistics Industry

As world resources and environmental constraints have increased, environmental cost has become a concern that affects the sustainable development of the logistics industry in various countries. Carbon emissions are an important part of any environmental cost assessment. How to scientifically and rationally evaluate the green GDP impact and regional efficiency in the logistics industry, especially when under carbon emission constraints, is of great significance to the realization of green and sustainable development. This study evaluated the logistics efficiency of 30 provinces in China from 2003 to 2016 by constructing a super SBM (Slack Based Model) model with undesirable output to explore provincial efficiency and its regional differences. The input–output ratio of the regional logistics industry was optimized through the calculation of the frontier slack variables. The research results showed that, first, it was more reasonable to adjust efficiency under carbon constraints, and it was consistent with the actual performance of the logistics industry. Second, technological progress and deeper capital investments promoted the development of the logistics industry, but technological barriers and low-scale efficiency between regions often limited technological efficiency. Therefore, decision-makers in the logistics industry should reconsider the challenges presented in each reason, encourage industrial technological innovation between regions, and especially promote energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, so as to maintain the sustainable growth of the logistics industry.

Use of Alternative Water Resources in Copper Leaching Processes in Chilean Mining Industry—A Review

Due to the significant growth of the world population, the accelerated growth of economic industries in various countries, and improved living conditions, freshwater consumption has increased dramatically and is currently under critical pressure. Its good use and rationing are essential. Even though mining is an industry that consumes much less water than other industries, such as agriculture, surrounding communities are constantly questioned. This occurs mainly because mining deposits are generally found in arid areas where freshwater is scarce, forcing government authorities to regulate water use in mining processes more severely. Faced with this scenario, the mining industry has innovated the use of seawater and wastewater from processes for its production processes. In addition, various projects are under development to construct desalination plants and water impulsion systems of the sea; therefore, it is expected that seawater and/or wastewater in mining will continue to grow in the coming years. Among the main challenges faced in the use of these water resources in mining is: (i) the close relationship that exists between the use of seawater and energy consumption, transferring the problem of water scarcity to a problem of energy cost overruns; (ii) generation of greater integration between the use of water and sustainable energy; and (iii) brine management is economically expensive and technically challenging and, therefore, most desalination plants discharge untreated brine directly into the sea, causing an environmental impact. On the other hand, regarding the use of these water resources in leaching processes, there are very positive results for the dissolution of copper from sulfide minerals, where the wastewater from desalination plants presents better results than seawater due to its higher concentration of chloride ions, allowing it to work at higher redox potential values in order to increase copper dissolution. This manuscript is a bibliographic review in which finally, it is concluded that it is feasible to incorporate wastewater from water desalination plants in heap leaching processes for copper sulfide ores, as long as the cost of transfer from water desalination plants to mining sites can be supported.

Детермінанти забезпечення конкурентоспроможності деревообробної промисловості в Україні у повоєнний період

Theoretical provisions and practical recommendations for identifying the determinants of woodworking industry development in Ukraine in the postwar period make up the subject of the study. The existing research papers indexed by scientometric databases Scopus and Web of Science on maintaining the competitiveness of the woodworking industry in Ukraine have been systematized and generalized. The research results in deepening the theoretical basis for identifying the basic meaningful determinants of competitiveness of the woodworking industry in various countries grounded on using bibliometric analysis tools (by means of VOSviewer v.1.6.10). Four contextual research clusters on the competitiveness of the woodworking industry, which include the largest number of publications, are identified. An integrated assessment is made of competitiveness shown by certain types of economic activity carried out by the woodworking industry in Ukraine and the world. The main measures of state support aimed at maintaining the work of Ukraine’s industrial sector during the war are presented. The following problems in organizing the activity of the woodworking enterprises in wartime are defined: lack of qualified personnel; loss of logistics infrastructure, supply chains, and sales in the regions where active hostilities took place; limited access to raw materials for enterprises located in less forested regions of Ukraine; loss of customer base; limited supply of fuels and lubricants, spare parts, equipment of enterprises in the Central, Eastern and Southern regions of Ukraine; reduction of business activity in some regions of Ukraine, etc. Drivers of maintaining the competitiveness of Ukraine’s woodworking industry in the postwar period have been formed.

The GM-BP Neural Network Prediction Model for International Competitiveness of Computer Information Service Industry

The computer information service industry is closely related to the fourth industrial revolution and stands at the core of the global value chain. It has become an essential engine for developing industries in various countries, and its scale is constantly expanding. In the critical period of global economic transformation and development, the use of mathematical models to predict its international competitiveness will help scientifically evaluate the development level of the industry and accelerate the adaptation to the needs of the fourth industrial revolution. In this article, a prediction model is proposed for the international competitiveness of the computer information service industry. First, we used the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) index to measure the international competitiveness of the computer information service industry. Furthermore, based on the characteristics of the industry and high-quality development theory, we constructed the evaluation indicator system of influencing factors and used the grey relational analysis method to screen key indicators. Then, we combined the Grey model and BP neural network algorithm to construct the GM-BP prediction model. Finally, China is used as an example to predict the international competitiveness of its computer information service industry, and suggestions are made for industrial development. The results show that the grey relational analysis method can genuinely reflect the impact of different aspects on the international competitiveness of China’s computer information service industry and better determine the key indicators of influencing factors. The GM-BP model has minor errors and excellent simulation results and can accurately predict the future status of international competitiveness. The applicability and reliability of the model are reasonable.

Stable isotope fractionation of thallium as novel evidence for its geochemical transfer during lead‑zinc smelting activities

Thallium (Tl) is a highly toxic trace metal. Lead (Pb)‑zinc (Zn) smelting, which is a pillar industry in various countries, is regarded as one of the dominant anthropogenic sources of Tl contamination in the environment. In this study, thallium isotope data have been evaluated for raw material and a set of industrial wastes produced at different stages of Pb-Zn smelting in a representative large facility located by the North River, South China, in order to capture Tl isotope signatures of such typical anthropogenic origin for laying the foundation of tracking Tl pollution. Large variations in Tl isotopic compositions of raw Pb-Zn ores and solid smelting wastes produced along the process chain were observed. The ε205Tl values of raw Pb-Zn ores and return fines are −0.87 ± 0.26 and −1.0 ± 0.17, respectively, contrasted by increasingly more negative values for electrostatic precipitator dust (ε205Tl = −2.03 ± 0.14), lime neutralizing slag (ε205Tl = −2.36 ± 0.18), and acid sludge (ε205Tl = −4.62 ± 0.76). The heaviest ε205Tl (1.12 ± 0.51) was found in clinker. These results show that isotopic fractionation occurs during the smelting processes. Obviously, the lighter Tl isotope is enriched in the vapor phase (−3.75 ε205Tl units). Further XPS and STEM-EDS analyses show that Tl isotope fractionation conforms to the Rayleigh fractionation model, and adsorption of 205Tl onto hematite (Fe2O3) may play an important role in the enrichment of the heavier Tl isotope. The findings demonstrate that Tl isotope analysis is a robust tool to aid our understanding of Tl behavior in smelting processes and to provide a basis for source apportionment of Tl contaminations.

Strategy is about long-term goals of the organization while its foundation is strategy orientation envision in the future of hospitality industry. The hospitality industry globally symbolizes one of the most dynamic and successful industries in the United States of America, as well as in all countries of the world. Certain countries including United States of America.
 Purpose: The objective of the study was to establish strategy implementation in hospitality industry with a global perspective.
 Methodology: The study was established through a thorough review of literature available in (journals, conference presented papers, and academic websites) in respect to strategy implementation in hospitality industry in various countries of the world. The study randomly surveyed the available research on strategy implementation in (10) countries within (3) continents of the world.
 Findings: Several firms in the hospitality industry have recognize strategy implementation, however, there has been some evidence on the effective strategy implementation especially in developed economies including United States and European countries.
 Unique contribution to theory, practice and policy: The driving force for strategy implementation is the interest to grow the industry in a competitive global environment. Strategy Implementation assist managers in the hospitality industry to achieve competitive advantage. The hospitality industry is still new yet growing very fast in other parts of the world and strategy implementation is of essence as a practice of strategic management.
 Strategy implementations is a concept that is still misunderstood in many organizations including those in the hospitality industry. Therefore, there is need for all people within the organization to comprehend all aspects of strategy implementation and the impact on business performance thereof.

Modeling and Research on Human Capital Accumulation Complex System of High-Tech Enterprises Based on Big Data

At present, high-tech enterprises are mainly organizations engaged in the production, research, and development and service of high-tech products. The current development of high-tech industries in various countries in the world is of great significance to improving social productivity and overall national strength. This article mainly introduces the modeling and analysis of the complex system of human capital accumulation in high-tech enterprises based on big data. This paper proposes a theoretical analysis of corporate human capital data and proposes regression analysis and analytic hierarchy process to calculate and analyze the process of corporate human capital accumulation and collect and analyze the data using questionnaire surveys and other methods. In addition, complex systems were modeled based on big data, and a cloud computing-based human capital big data analysis platform was established. The experimental results show that complex system modeling based on big data has a positive impact on the human capital accumulation of high-tech enterprises. For high-tech companies at different stages of development, the relationship between various types of human capital and corporate performance is inconsistent with the market economy. In contrast, the current salary system of some high-tech companies still has many drawbacks. The cost of using human resources controlled by the wage system accounts for more than 24%.

Structural characteristics and evolution of the "international trade-carbon emissions" network in equipment manufacturing industry: international evidence in the perspective of global value chains.

The objective of this paper is to analyze structural characteristics and the evolution of "international trade-carbon emissions" network in the equipment manufacturing industry. To do so, we construct four kinds of networks, namely export trade network (E network), export implied carbon emission network (EC network), foreign value-added network (FVA network), and foreign value-added implied carbon emission network (FVAC network) for the said industry. The data obtained from world-input-output table and social network analysis method was used for empirical analysis. The results indicate that (1) the four types of networks show a trend of denseness, which also has the characteristics of trade clustering effect and small-world network. As the equipment manufacturing industry in various countries is increasingly embedded in the global value chain, the value chain is extended globally, which leads to the complexity of the international carbon transfer network. (2) The four types of networks' pattern are basically stable. Germany plays an important intermediary role. Whereas China is deeply involved in the division of global value chain and has achieved the shift from the edge to the core in all four types of networks, but there is still a big gap compared with Germany. (3) The E network and EC network have the obvious core-edge feature, and the two kinds of networks can be divided into developed countries block represented by Germany, Japan, the USA; developing countries block represented by China and India; and European Union block represented by Spain and France. The developing world receives carbon emission transfer from the developed world. Finally, (4) the division of FVA network and FVAC network segment shows that the global value chain under the current international division of labor is characterized by multi-regionalization. Therefore, actively embedding in the regional value chain has become an important way for China's equipment manufacturing industry to upgrade to low carbon.

Nuclear Waste Transportation: Quality Assurance and Control

Nuclear energy is one of the most strategically important areas in the majority of countries today. Therefore, the issues of transportation of nuclear waste related primarily to security and quality are the most acute problems in this industry. This article discusses the key aspects and tasks related to ensuring the security of the transportation and disposal of nuclear waste, an analysis is made from the point of view of regulation of this industry in various countries. Moreover, the technological support of this process is considered. In this regard, the issue of forming an integrated approach to organizing the transportation of nuclear waste is relevant, which includes various aspects: organizing business processes, organizing IT services and organizing infrastructure. The result of this study is a list of requirements for a reference model for the transportation of nuclear waste, which can potentially be used as an industry standard in different countries.

Research on Hydrogen Energy and Fuel Cell Vehicle Roadmap in Various Countries

This paper studied the roadmap of the hydrogen energy and fuel cell vehicle (FCV) industry in the US, Japan and the EU, and summarized the development goals, promotion paths and development plans of the hydrogen energy industry in developed countries. On this basis, the development prospect of hydrogen energy and FCV industry in China is further analysed based on resource endowment and current situation of FCV industry in China. Finally, by comparing the development plans and characteristics of hydrogen energy and FCV industry in various countries, the deficiencies of hydrogen energy and FCV industry in China are found, and suggestions are put forward for the development of hydrogen energy and FCV industry in China.

Talking about the Building Energy-saving Design Ideas and Applications in Green Buildings

In many countries or regions today, the rapid social and economic development is often based on the large consumption of various types of resources and energy. In the end, the ecological environment within the region will therefore be damaged and polluted to varying degrees. With the continuous improvement and enhancement of environmental protection awareness in different industries in various countries around the world, in order to keep up with the development process and get rid of the current objective situation of excessive energy consumption, it is necessary to achieve reduction by creating green buildings and actively implementing energy-saving design Purpose of energy level. Based on the analysis of the basic concepts and design principles of green buildings and energy-saving design, this paper puts forward the key points of green building energy-saving design and analyzes and interprets the actual cases in order to look forward to the further development of green buildings.

5S APPLICATION TRAINING (SEIRI, SEITON, SEISŌ, SEIKETSU, AND SHITSUKE) TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF WORK ENVIRONMENT IN THE SERVICE INDUSTRY

National industries already have policies that are able to strengthen industrial competitiveness, especially small and medium businesses. Business activities in the form of manufacturing Small Industries are the backbone of the real economy that encourages the welfare of the community because the numbers are very large and spread in various regions. because it is generally close to residential and business centers. National policies that can encourage competitiveness, for example, are carried out in the form of soft loans, training, incentives, tax breaks, business assistance, ease of regulation and various forms of support. But it must be understood that what is no less important is how the small manufacturing industry itself can make competitive steps both in capturing markets and in the efficient form of work operations within its organization. At present, the 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seisō, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) has been widely adopted by various industries in various countries. The 5S method (Seiri, Seiton, Seisō, Seiketsu, and Shitsuke) was first introduced in Japan as a determination to conduct sorting (Seiri), structuring (Seiton), cleansing (Seisō), maintaining steady conditions (Seiketsu), and self-awareness of the habits needed to carry out work well (Shitsuke). The implementation of community service activities in the form of socialization and training on the application of 5S (Seiri, Seiton, Seisō, Seiketsu, andShitsuke) to improve the quality of the work environment in the service industry is packaged in the form of simple, easy to understand concepts planned for three months.

Bank loan loss provisions research: A review of the empirical literature

This paper aims to provide an overview of the literature on Loan loss provisions in the Banking industry. This research was conducted by reviewing some literature. LLP is a solution for banks to deal with risks that will be faced by banks or as a prudent banking principle. We have reviewed and mapped the literature in several sections, developments in the Basel Regulations, mapping LLP literature based on the research area, and LLP and hypothesis mapping. The main fact that we reveal is that most banks use LLP regulations for various purposes. This paper relies on the literature and highlights information as well as important issues related to LLP in the research field, this study highlights several important issues related to the banking industry in various countries. This study observed the role of LLP during the application of Basel III regulation which tended to provide flexibility to bank managers in determining provision reserves. We have reviewed the specific LLP literature in one country and cross-country research. This study identifies gaps and provides direction that can be used as a research contribution in the future. Hevea brasiliensis is the major source of natural rubber. Natural rubber being a unique biopolymer of strategic importance needs to be continuously well managed and protected against biotic damages. Many rubber producing countries include South East Asia, Africa and Latin America among others. Corynespora leaf fall caused by Corynespora cassiicola is currently considered as the most destructive leaf disease of Hevea rubber in Asian and African continents causing about 45% of yield loss. It had caused great loss to the rubber industry in various countries, thus the need for prompt action against the disease. The rubber breeding over the years have been on the development of clones with high yield combined with the desirable secondary traits. The resistance of rubber clones to C. cassiicolla depends on its ability to neutralize the toxin or its use of the hypersensitive response of the clone. The major objective of this review was to awaken the consciousness to C. cassiicolla, having in mind that rubber clones once tolerant to the disease had later become susceptible. The article considers the prospects of tourism development in five countries of Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan and Tajikistan. The author analyzes cultural, social and economic aspects of the tourism industry in the region. The main directions of activity of international organi-zations in the framework of tourism promotion programs are given. Central Asia has a huge potential for the tourism development. The study of the current state of tourism in Central Asia is becoming increasingly important. Tourism resources have every chance to become part of the national wealth of the countries of this region. In the group of factors determining socio-economic development of the countries in the region are natural resources, the level of production and investment, social infrastructure, management quality, international competitiveness, etc. The need for the regional development management system is conditioned by regionalization processes inherent to the current economic situation, oriented to ensuring positive national economic dynamics and maximum using the region’s potential. The studying problem of regional development makes it possible to justify, as one of the directions of its solution, the use of cluster technologies oriented to those branches of the economy that can become a vector of regional development. According to experts, the tourism industry is one of the most profitable sectors of the economy of the region. This industry covers numerous sectors of the economy and various links between them. The main tourist routes in the present time, covering many objects of the Great Silk Road, do not offer a more detailed study of the local historical, architectural and archaeological heritage. The lack of infrastructure facilities is the reason for this. This fact forces us to search solutions, which will provide a comfortable environment for both tourists and researchers. At present, the Central Asian countries occupy a very modest place in the world market of tourist services. According to many experts, the demand for sanatorium, tourist and excursion services has decreased due to the transition period, and the existing network of tourist institutions, boarding houses, rest homes needs reconstruction. After the disintegration of the Soviet Union, tourism in the Central Asian republics began to develop independently, without common approaches and concepts. In many respects this is determined by the fact that the new states have chosen their own models of socio-economic development, different from each other. The different level of political freedoms, economic development features determine the current state of the tourism industry in various countries of Central Asia. The perspective of tourism development in this region is quite difficult, but an interesting task, necessary for familiarizing humanity with the most interesting culture of peoples inhabiting Central Asia and developing the economies of countries.

Algorithm of multi-criterion green process assessment for renewable raw materials bioconversion

Green Chemistry is one of the most important and practically used tools to integrate principles of sustainable development and green economy in the field of chemistry and the chemical industry in various countries. There is a number of metrics in the field of green chemistry. The research presented is an original algorithm of multi-criterion green process assessment for renewable raw materials bioconversion. The algorithm is used when the process of obtaining the same target substance N is possible to be carried out in many ways (or under different conditions). In this case, the researcher task is to choose the best process in compliance with the principles of green chemistry. The multiple-factor complex assessment is to be used to choose the optimum process conditions. The algorithm designed was tested for efficiency in choosing the optimal processes of acid hydrolysis of deproteinized meals. The deproteinized sunflower meal preprocessing efficiency analysis was carried out during the course of its microbiological conversion into a vegetable protein and carbohydrate feed supplement taking into account the principles of green chemistry. The methodology testing was based on the experimental data obtained by chemical hydrolysis of deproteinized residues, and two-stage pretreatment process of deproteinized residues processing comprising the steps of chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis. The combination of chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis in two-stage deproteinized sunflower meal processing was justified. The proposed algorithm allowed not only to determine the effective ranges of parameters of deproteinized sunflower meal processing, but also allowed to justify the possibility of its optimization due to the both processes combined.
