The system, which enables real-time inventory tracking, order optimization, and improved supply chain efficiency, is a testament to the transformative power of information technology in enhancing the competitiveness of MSMEs. The findings of this study can provide valuable insights for MSME Bakso ANHEL and other similar businesses, equipping them with the tools to address inventory management challenges. The strategic use of information technology is a game-changer for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Impact of digital transformation on supply chain efficiency: a parallel mediation model

PurposeIt becomes a strategic option for enterprises to upgrade and improve supply chain efficiency (SCE) by promoting the digital transformation (DT). This study formulated a parallel mediation model to analyze the relationships among DT, supply chain transparency (SCT), supply chain agility (SCA) and SCE to reveal how DT affects SCE through the mediation of SCT and SCA.Design/methodology/approachThree paradigms, i.e. resource-based view (RBV), dynamic capability view (DCV) and structure-conduct-performance (SCP) were employed to address the parallel mediation effects. A total of 392 questionnaires (samples) from the port-hinterland supply chain in the DT pilot project of New Land-Sea Corridor in western China were collected, which was then applied to formulate a structural equation model (SEM) to verify the proposed hypotheses.FindingsThe results confirmed the existences of parallel mediating effects of SCT and SCA between DT and SCE. On one hand, the direct effect of DT on SCE is not significant when SCT and SCE plays jointly impacts on DT and SCE. On the other hand, SCT and SCA play a positive parallel full mediating effect of DT on SCE.Research limitations/implicationsThis study contributed to the literature on changing activities of SCE in DT processes. Specifically, it highlighted how DT leads to SCE via SCT and SCA activities. In addition, this study specified the conditions that the insignificant direct effect of DT has reflects on SCE, it is the time when SCT and SCE are jointly acting on DT and SCE.Originality/valueBy integrating insights from the RBV, DCV and SCP paradigms, this study clarified the mechanisms of DT on SCE, and provided insight on the role of SCT and SCA in the relationship between DT and SCE. The novelty of this study and the results extend the existing literature and provide implications for future research.

Wholesale Price Discrimination and Contract Unobservability

This study examines how wholesale price discrimination (WD) by a supplier affects different parties in a supply chain involving a common supplier distributing homogeneous products through two competing retailers with different costs under wholesale price contracts. Especially, we allow for contract unobservability, where the contract terms between the supplier and each retailer are secret to the rival retailer. Intuitively, given the downstream asymmetry, WD should be more advantageous than the uniform wholesale price (UW) scheme for the supplier. This is true under observable contracts, as we show that WD benefits the supplier and less efficient retailer but hurts the more efficient retailer, supply chain, and consumers. Under unobservability, however, we find that the supplier may be better off by committing to UW. The intuition is that contract unobservability induces the supplier to set lower discretionary wholesale prices, which can outweigh the benefits of pricing flexibility. Consequently, a lack of commitment to UW can benefit both retailers, improve supply chain efficiency, and increase consumer surplus. Our findings suggest that policymakers should be cautious about imposing restrictions on WD. We also consider three extensions for robustness and offer new insights.

Life Cycle Assessment and Model Optimization for Sustainable Energy Cross-Border E-Commerce

INTRODUCTION: In an in-depth study of the application of sustainable energy in cross-border e-commerce, a comprehensive assessment and model optimization of its life cycle are conducted to promote the practical application of sustainable development in e-commerce. With the increasing global concern for renewable energy and environmental protection, e-commerce, as an international business model, has attracted much attention in terms of the environmental and social impacts of its sustainability.OBJECTIVES: The aim is to provide scientific assessment methods and effective model optimization strategies to promote the feasibility and sustainability of cross-border e-commerce for sustainable energy.METHODS: A comprehensive life cycle assessment (LCA) model was constructed using the system life cycle assessment (SLCA) methodology by collecting data from various aspects of sustainable energy cross-border e-commerce. The model considers the entire life cycle process from energy production, logistics, transportation, and product manufacturing to final consumption and integrates various factors such as resource utilization, environmental emissions, and social responsibility. Based on the assessment, a series of model optimization strategies are proposed, including suggestions for improving supply chain efficiency, promoting green energy applications, and strengthening social responsibility.RESULTS: This study achieved significant life cycle assessment and model optimization results. In terms of energy use, promoting the application of renewable energy significantly reduces carbon emissions; in terms of supply chain management, optimization leads to an overall efficiency improvement and a reduction in resource wastage; and in terms of social responsibility, the enterprise strengthens employee training and community involvement, which enhances its social image. These results show that sustainable energy cross-border e-commerce can better achieve sustainable development goals through systematic assessment and optimization.CONCLUSION: Life cycle assessment and model optimization provide scientific assessment methods and practical suggestions for sustainable energy cross-border e-commerce. In global sustainable development, the e-commerce industry should actively adopt sustainable energy and minimize its negative impacts on the environment and society by optimizing production and supply chain management. Future research can continue to expand the assessment model and deeply explore the potential of sustainable energy in e-commerce to provide more precise guidance for the industry's sustainable development.

Digital transformation and supply chain efficiency improvement: An empirical study from a-share listed companies in China.

This article thoroughly examines the influence of digital transformation on the efficiency of corporate supply chains. As global economic integration accelerates and technological innovations deepen, digital transformation has become key to enhancing core corporate competitiveness. This research, utilizing data from A-share listed companies in China between 2007 and 2022, analyzes how companies improve supply chain efficiency through digital transformation. Furthermore, the study establishes a theoretical framework that demonstrates how digital transformation facilitates supply chain efficiency from the perspectives of internal governance and external competition. The research indicates that digital transformation plays a key role in significantly enhancing supply chain efficiency. Furthermore, the results of the mechanism analysis confirmed that digital transformation contributes to enhancing corporate supply chain efficiency by improving the level of corporate governance and the degree of market competition. The study also finds that the effect of digital transformation on supply chain efficiency varies with different corporate backgrounds, indicating its heterogeneous impact. Lastly, an analysis of economic consequences shows that the increased supply chain efficiency resulting from digital transformation can reduce future external transaction costs, strengthening the company's market position and financial performance. This research provides strategic guidance for firms to develop robust strategies amid the digital wave and offers strong policy recommendations for promoting digital supply chain management and enhancing market adaptability.

Enhancing Safety in Cargo Handling Units Using Thermal and Motion IoT Sensors

To improve supply chain efficiency by establishing real-time communication via Internet of Things (IoT) devices between cargo units and Logistics Control Systems (LCS). The method makes it possible to continuously monitor characteristics like location, temperature, humidity, and handling affects by carefully placing IoT sensors within cargo containers. These Internet of Things (IoT) devices work together to create a network that sends data in real time to a centralized LCS platform. This data gives logistics operators fast insights for proactive disruption response, risk mitigation, and optimized route planning. The research uses encryption techniques, redundancy plans, and flexible software interfaces to address issues with data security, device dependability, and integration into current infrastructure. Furthermore, by integrating machine learning and predictive analytics, the LCS can anticipate potential problems, which helps promotes increased customer happiness, decreased losses, and greater operational performance in contemporary logistics and freight transportation.

Sustainable Agriculture Leveraging Artificial Intelligence Systems in Kenya's Agri-food Supply Chain

The Agro-food supply chain is crucial for achieving Sustainable Development Goal No. 2 of zero hunger and sustainable agriculture. However, Kenya faces significant post-harvest losses, mainly attributed to challenges in first and last-mile logistics. In the era of technological advancements, this research paper explores the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to enhance the Kenyan agri-food supply chain. Building on existing information, the study focuses on AI's role in monitoring and controlling farmland outputs, optimizing supply chain logistics, and addressing fraud and counterfeiting. The research objectives include assessing AI's utility in monitoring and controlling outputs in farmlands improving supply chain efficiency, and combating fraud in agricultural inputs. Research methods involve a comprehensive literature review, analyzing case studies such as Project FARM and FAO's Fall Armyworm Monitoring and Early Warning System, and reviewing scholarly articles on AI applications in agriculture. The research results highlight the benefits of leveraging AI in farmland monitoring, climate change adaptation, supply chain logistics, and fraud prevention. AI technologies can enhance agricultural productivity, reduce transportation costs, and eliminate corruption in the supply chain. The findings suggest that integrating AI systems into the agri-food supply chain is vital for achieving sustainable agriculture in Kenya. The study concludes that AI offers innovative solutions to address the challenges faced by smallholder farmers, enhance supply chain efficiency, and contribute to achieving zero hunger and sustainable agricultural practices.

Research on the improvement mechanism of value-based healthcare objectives in pharmaceutical group procurement

Focusing on the research scenario that integrates value-based healthcare objectives with the pharmaceutical group purchasing model, this study delineates value-based healthcare objectives in pharmaceutical group purchasing from three perspectives: drug sales price, drug quality, and service level. We construct a three-level pharmaceutical group purchasing supply chain consisting of drug manufacturers, medical institutions, and non-profit drug group purchasing organisations. Under centralised and decentralised decision-making, we introduce cost-sharing contracts and “cost-sharing-quantity-discount” contracts to analyse the impact of factors such as drug sales price, quality, and sensitivity of the service level. The study found that: (1) Compared with centralised decision-making, the optimal drug quality and service level in decentralised decision-making and the optimal profits of drug manufacturers and medical institutions will decrease. However, the optimal drug sales price in decentralised decision-making always deviates from that in centralised decision-making, leading to higher or lower drug sales prices. (2) The incorporation of value-based healthcare objectives in the pharmaceutical group purchasing through cost-sharing contracts depends on changes in the proportion of drug quality costs borne by medical institutions. If the proportion is too high, medical institutions will suffer greater losses because they bear too much of the cost. (3) Under certain conditions, cost-sharing contracts can improve supply chain efficiency but cannot achieve supply chain coordination, while the combination of “cost-sharing-quantity-discount” contracts can achieve supply chain coordination in pharmaceutical group purchasing.

Redefining product and service lifecycles with eco-friendly and sustainable processes, circular supply chains are green breakthroughs. Minimising waste, environmental effect, and resource efficiency are its goals. In a circular supply chain, green innovations can include product design that facilitates recycling or reuse, process improvements that reduce energy consumption and emissions, logistics solutions that optimise transportation for lower carbon footprints, and service innovations that promote sustainability. These green ideas improve supply chain efficiency and competitiveness while helping the environment. Businesses may reconcile economic growth and environmental stewardship by rethinking and rebuilding linear supply models into circular and sustainable ones, paving the way for a more sustainable future. This study examines how green innovations affect circular supply chains in Andhra Pradesh's durable goods industry. It analyses how product, process, logistical, and service green innovation improves supply chain efficiency. The quantitative research uses structured surveys to obtain data from 150 industry professionals and customers. Convenience sampling was used to acquire varied supply chain performance metrics responses. SPSS is used for rigorous regression analysis in the study. This method lets you study how green innovation affects circular supply chain performance. All green innovations improve supply chain efficiency, but green service innovation has the greatest benefit. This research provides strong evidence for green innovations in durable goods industry circular supply networks. The study emphasises ecologically friendly product creation, logistics, service delivery, and process management.

Dynamic game evolution complexity of new energy and fuel vehicle manufacturers under carbon cap‐and‐trade policy

AbstractConsidering customers' preferences for low‐carbon products, the paper delves into the short‐run and long‐run repetitive game involving three oligopolistic manufacturers engaged in the production of new energy vehicles (hybrid electric vehicles [HEV] and battery electric vehicles [BEV]) and conventional fuel vehicles (FV) within the framework of a carbon cap‐and‐trade policy (CaT). In the short‐run game model, this study explores the optimal decision of oligarchic manufacturers and analyzes the efficiency of the supply chain in the context of cooperation and non‐cooperation. In the long‐run repetitive scenario, the article examines the optimal decision of the manufacturer, assuming rational economic behavior aimed at maximizing individual profits within a non‐cooperation game strategy. Finally, the paper investigates the elements that influence the efficiency of the supply chain. The results reveal that (1) fuel vehicles possess greater flexibility in adjusting parameters compared to the other vehicle types; a judicious increase in manufacturers' price adjustment parameters in the stability domain is beneficial to their respective profits and enhances the overall supply chain profitability. (2) Maintaining customers' preference for low‐carbon products within a reasonable range is crucial for the mutual benefit of all manufacturers. (3) The government needs to allocate more carbon emission limits to fuel vehicle manufacturers in order to improve supply chain efficiency.

Investigation and designing a comprehensive supply chain database for Walmart

In light of the rapid progression of digital technology, fierce competition, and the ever-shifting demands of consumers, the contemporary retail sector is continually evolving. This underscores the critical need to embrace digital solutions. This study seeks to aid Walmart, one of the world's largest retailers, in improving supply chain efficiency, optimizing inventory management, and enhancing the overall customer experience by creating a comprehensive supply chain database. Specifically, we employ the core entity method to identify Walmart's key entity, which is the "product," and ascertain its associated entities. Subsequently, we establish relational models based on the attributes and relationships of each table, considering real-world scenarios, such as one-to-many and many-to-many relationships. We employ normalization techniques to ensure the proper utilization of functional dependencies and candidate keys for each entity. This guarantees that the designed tables adhere to the principles of the First, Second, and Third Normal Forms, preserving data integrity while minimizing redundancy. Furthermore, we create a set of logical database commands, illustrated through flowcharts, and rigorously test their functionality and efficiency. Lastly, we explore potential directions for future research. The successful implementation of this design relies on robust data management practices and a reliable database system tailored to meet Walmart's specific needs. This results in a logically structured and standardized supply chain database. The research findings underscore the vital importance of a well-conceived supply chain database in addressing the challenges faced by large-scale retail operations like Walmart supermarkets.

Efficacy and Hurdles of Carbon Footprint Labels in Shaping Consumer Choices

The purpose of this study is to look into the impact of carbon footprint labels on consumer behavior and to examine the benefits and challenges associated with their adoption. The goal of the study is to shed light on the obstacles that prevent consumers from incorporating carbon footprint labels into their decision-making processes and how well they work to encourage eco-friendly behavior. Both primary and secondary data are used in the study, which has a descriptive research design. Primary data is obtained through the use of a structured questionnaire, and secondary data is obtained from a variety of sources, such as websites, journals, and research papers. The results are interpreted using statistical techniques like weighted mean, frequency analysis, and Henry Garrett analysis. With the focus of the world on environmental sustainability, this study aims to address the barriers that prevent carbon footprint labels from being successfully incorporated into consumer choices. The legitimacy of such labels is weakened by a number of issues, including the absence of standardized measurement methodologies, consumer skepticism, and the possibility of greenwashing. A varied consumer landscape with variable product usage durations and influential factors is revealed by the data analysis. Customers are motivated to make environmentally conscious decisions by media coverage, corporate responsibility, and health concerns. Although a significant percentage appreciates carbon footprint labels as a means of promoting sustainable decisions, opinions and understanding regarding environmental friendliness vary widely. The analysis prioritizes factors associated with the advantages of carbon footprint labeling, suggesting that businesses who wear these labels have an edge over competitors and are encouraged to improve supply chain efficiency. In order to promote sustainability, the study highlights the importance of consumer awareness, company CSR profiles, and open information sharing.

Integration of Lean Supply Chain and Industry 4.0

In response to the dynamic and highly competitive business environment, incorporating additional ideas and tools alongside lean supply chain implementation has become essential. One emerging trend is the integration of a Lean Supply Chain with Industry 4.0, which aligns with the core principles of lean, including cost reduction, waste elimination, and improved supply chain efficiency. This research aims to investigate the relationship between Lean Supply Chain and Industry 4.0 technologies and explore their mutual interactions. The Interpretative Structured Modelling (ISM) methodology will be employed to gain a comprehensive understanding of their interdependencies. By bridging the existing gap in the literature, this study provides valuable insights for both researchers and practitioners, enabling them to navigate the direction and implications of integrating Lean Supply Chain and Industry 4.0.

With the vigorous development of the community fresh fruit industry, the traditional fresh fruit supplier X Fresh Fruit is also seeking transformation opportunities. By analyzing the X Fresh Fruit supply chain company case, this paper reveals the problems of opaque supply chain structure, inefficient supply chain management and production, and high supply chain costs. Measures are needed to address these issues, including optimizing the supply chain structure, improving production and management methods, and controlling procurement, transportation, and storage costs. These measures are expected to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the quality and freshness of fresh fruits, thus creating greater value and competitiveness for enterprises. The research in this paper helps X fresh fruit companies solve their current problems and provides useful suggestions for the sustainable development of the fresh fruit supply chain industry.

Key Variables Influencing Artificial Intelligence (AI) Implementation In Supply Chain Management (SCM): An Empirical Analysis On Smes

This study seeks to ascertain the principal elements influencing the application of Artificial intelligence (AI) and how the application of AI affects supply chain management (SCM) performance. During the industrial development period, the use of new technologies in supply chain management is important. A more thorough analysis of the problems with supply chain, AI implementation will offer a more unbiased viewpoint on the difficulties and advantages of integrating AI into SMEs' supply chain management. To achieve the research objectives, representative factors for variables were identified and the acceptability of the study sample was evaluated utilizing the Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy and Bartlett's test of sphere city. Regression Analysis was used to test the proposed hypotheses and to validate the conceptual model.
 The results indicated that the Managerial Support (MS), Competitive Pressure (CP), Government Support (GS), Vendor Partnership (VP), Compatibility (COMPA), and Relative Advantage (RA) factors are essential in AI implementation. The beta values of all the factors, as indicated by the coefficient, are 0.939[1], 0.367, 0.240, 0.249, 0.190, and 0.161 respectively, which is a reasonable representation of their influence on SCM Performance (SCMP) and AI Implementation (AIIM). The study findings show that variables influence the decision to implement AI applications in supply chain management. Examining these variables is anticipated to have a positive impact and assist strategic planners in developing plans to use AI to support the operational requirements of the company both now and in the future. Research findings have aided companies in realizing the value of artificial intelligence, developing strategies and plans to swiftly transition to digital technology, and streamlining workflows to improve supply chain efficiency.

Enhancing Supply Chain Efficiency: A Two-Stage Model for Evaluating Multiple Sourcing and Extra Procurement Strategy Optimization

This paper presents a two-stage mathematical model aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency by evaluating multiple sourcing strategies and optimizing extra procurement. In the first stage, the model minimizes the gap between Sales and Operation Planning (SOP) and maximum product quantity achievable with current inventory levels, setting the foundation for understanding resource requirements. The second stage focuses on extra procurement strategy optimization, considering lead times, cost-effectiveness. We analyze the trade-offs between multiple sourcing and single vendor approaches, providing valuable insights for supply chain decision-makers. This research offers a practical framework to improve supply chain efficiency, reduce gaps, and enhance customer satisfaction while strengthening supply chain resilience in the face of unforeseen challenges, as demonstrated by the lessons from the COVID-19 pandemics.

Premilinary analysis of cross-shareholding in the green supply chain and recommendations for regulatory policy in the Philippines

Cross-shareholding is increasingly used in supply chains to improve strategic synergy between companies. However, regulations on cross-ownership within green supply chains are still in their early stages of development. Cross-ownership affects both the government’s pricing strategy and its carbon reduction policies. Additionally, the cross-shareholding structure impacts the profitability of the supply chain by introducing power dynamics between manufacturers and retailers. When cross-shareholding regulations and models are implemented, manufacturers and retailers within the supply chain exhibit more substantial reductions in their carbon footprint and experience increased profits, particularly in decentralized supply chains when cross ownership surpasses a specific threshold. The adoption of cross-shareholding profit-sharing agreements could enhance the performance of green supply chains. This article synthesizes the views of scholars on cross shareholding in the supply chain. It uses analytical methods to evaluate the role of the negotiation process, trade credit, and cross-shareholding in the supply chain. The article uses jurisprudence to recommend a cross shareholding policy in the Philippines to enhance supply chain efficiency. It uses the “Stackelberg Leadership Model” to analyze the impact of cross-shareholding on two levels of the supply chain, offering recommendations for future implementation to improve supply chain efficiency. The article recommends that the Philippines’ supply chain policy include mechanisms to encourage new companies to join the existing cross-ownership network, capitalize on the impact of cross-shareholding on supply chain assessment, and develop ways to use equity ratio and trade credit. These recommendations aim to refine policy and legislation in the Philippines to effectively utilize trade credit, equity ratios, and cross-shareholdings in supply chain management.
