VII International scientific and practical conference Ternopil Bioscience – 2023

The article summarizes the results of the VII International Scientific and Practical Conference Ternopil Bioscience – 2023, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the renowned botanist, taxonomist, and florist, Ph.D., Associate Professor, Head of the Department of Botany Valentina Omelianivna Shymanska. The event took place from May 11 to 13, 2023, in Ternopil at the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. The conference covered the following thematic areas: experimental botany and plant physiology, biology and ecology of animals, microbiology and virology, cytogenetics and histomorphology, human anatomy and physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, genetics of microorganisms, plants, animals, and humans, hydrobiology, biotechnology in plant cultivation, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, environmental protection and biological aspects of biodiversity reproduction, applied aspects of adaptation of organisms, ecological biotechnology, and rational nature management, the impact of natural and social factors on human health, biomedicine and pharmacognosy, agronomy, plant protection, and quarantine, the history of biology, and the methodology of teaching natural sciences. A collection of abstracts was published before the conference opening. Over 102 participants took part in the conference. There were 8 plenary and 38 sectional reports. Following the discussions, it was decided to schedule and conduct the next conference in the Spring of 2024.

Design and implementation of an IoT-based educational model for smart homes: a STEM approach

This work presents a comprehensive study on the design and implementation of an educational model for a smart home, leveraging the principles of the Internet of Things (IoT). The model encompasses three key levels: command, communication, and management, and integrates several subsystems, including communication, signalling, lighting control, temperature regulation, garbage container filling, nd sensor data monitoring. The hardware components for implementing the Mini Smart House, a practical application of the model, are detailed in the study. The Mini Smart House utilizes a range of technologies for efficient management and incorporates renewable energy sources for power. The model was independently produced by students participating in a STEM project, with research activities encompassing sketching, construction part creation, sensor assembly, Arduino board programming in the Arduino IDE environment, and system functionality testing. The Mini Smart House was validated within the STEM-center of the Physics and Mathematics Faculty of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University during the educational process and numerous trainings and seminars for pupils and teachers of computer science.

The new record of the Mammoth Wasp Megascolia maculata (Drury, 1773) in the Ternopil oblast as evidence of the species range expansion

Mammoth Wasp Megascolia maculata (Drury, 1773) (Hymenoptera, Scoliidae) widely distributed in the south of the Western Palearctic and is the largest Hymenoptera insect in Europe. The species range covers southern and partially Central Europe, North Africa, Turkey, the Caucasus, Transcaucasia, Western and Central Asia (Western Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Syria, Israel, Kuwait, Iran, Afghanistan). Three subspecies are distinguished within the species range: Megascolia (Regiscolia) maculata bischoffi (Micha, 1927) – island of Cyprus, Megascolia (Regiscolia) maculata flavifrons (Fabricius, 1775) – western Mediterranean including Italy, Megascolia (Regiscolia) maculata maculata (Drury, 1773) – Eastern Mediterranean, Central and Eastern Europe and Asia. However, DNA barcoding showed no difference between these three subspecies (Schmid-Egger, Schmidt, 2021). In Ukraine it is represented by a nominative subspecies Megascolia (Regiscolia) maculata maculata (Drury, 1773), most of the findings are concentrated in the central and southeastern provinces (oblasts). The species is listed in the Red Data Book of Ukraine with protection status: not evaluated (NE). The purpose of the study was to analyze its spread in Ukraine and neighboring countries, in particular, define the northern boundary of the species range. The material for the work was collections (State Museum of Natural History, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, entomological collection of the Department of Botany and Zoology of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University), own observations, literature data, information from web resources on biodiversity: GBIF - 3800 findings GBIF, 2023; Megascolia…, 2023), iNaturalist – 3208 observations (iNaturalist, 2023), Data Centre «Biodiversity of Ukraine» – 265 records, Ukrainian Biodiversity Information Network – 127 findings. Data on a new discovered of Mammoth Wasp Megascolia maculata (Drury, 1773) in the Ternopil oblast (24.06.2022, Laskivtsi village, Ternopilskyi district, 49.170338N, 25.568823E) are presented. The distribution of the species in Ukraine and neighboring countries is analyzed, a map of the distribution of the species in the region is presented and indicated the expansion of the species range in the northwest direction. Probably, for the next few years we can expect it’s discovered in the Lviv and Volyn oblasts, as well as in Poland.

БАРНА МИКОЛА МИКОЛАЙОВИЧ – ВІДОМИЙ УКРАЇНСЬКИЙ ВЧЕНИЙ–БОТАНІК, ЦИТОЕМБРІОЛОГ, ЗАСЛУЖЕНИЙ ДІЯЧ НАУКИ І ТЕХНІКИ УКРАЇНИ, ПЕДАГОГ

Mykola Mykolaiovych Barna, who celebrated his 85th birthday on February 8, 2023, is a renowned Ukrainian scientist in the fields of botany, morphology, dendrology, and plant cytoembryology. He holds the titles of Academician of the Academy of Sciences of Higher Education of Ukraine, Merited Science and Technology Functionary of Ukraine, Education Excellence of Ukraine, Nature Conservation Excellence of Ukraine, and is an Honorary Member of the Ukrainian Botanical Society. He is also a scholarship holder of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, a Doctor of Biological Sciences, and a Professor at the Department of Botany and Zoology at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University.
 This article highlights Professor’s impressive 62-year career in production, research, education, pedagogy, and public service. He began as a lecturer and senior lecturer at the Department of Botany in 1971, became an associate professor in 1975, and a professor in 1996. He served as the head of the Department of Botany from 2002 to 2012 and as the head of the Department of Botany and Zoology from 2012 to 2014. Additionally, he held positions such as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Natural Sciences from 1977 to 1985 and Dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology from 1990 to June 2006.
 Professor M. M. Barna’s extensive scholarly output includes over 450 published works, including monographs, bibliographies, dictionaries, scientific publications, educational materials for high and secondary education institutions, and methodological recommendations. He has supervised the defence of seven PhD theses and served as an official opponent at academic councils for the defence of doctoral and PhD theses. He was a member of specialised academic councils at the M. G. Kholodny Institute of Botany of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and the National Forestry University of Ukraine. For over two decades, he chaired the editorial board of the specialised scientific publication “Scientific notes of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Series: Biology.”
 Professor Barna's contributions also extend to initiatives such as the establishment of the Arboretum of Ternopil State Pedagogical Institute, the creation of the herbarium of the Department of Botany (now the “Herbarium-laboratory of plant morphology and taxonomy”), and the establishment of the laboratory of biology and ecology known as the “Holytskyi biostation of the university.” He played a crucial role in the realisation of the Biblical Botanical Garden on TNPU’s premises, turning this idea into a reality. Professor Mykola Mykolaiovych Barna's lifelong dedication to science and education has left an indelible mark on his field and the academic community.

LEADING MOTIVES OF THE EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY OF FUTURE PHILOLOGY TEACHERS: DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS AND PROJECTION

Motivation of the future philology teachers to educational activity is an important part of students’ training at higher education institutions. The desire of applicants to acquire professional knowledge, to form skills and abilities that will form the basis of their pedagogical activities in the future, should become the main factor that encourages them to conscious study of the disciplines of general and professional training. The value-motivational aspect of philology students’ teaching involves creating a supportive environment at the institution to satisfy the interests and needs of students, taking into account their personal qualities, level of cognitive activity, readiness to realize themselves in society, understanding the importance of their future profession, etc.
 In the conditions of Russian aggression, the problem of motivation of students’; educational activities is actualized, since the war affected not only the form of education and its organization, but also the attitude, personal motives, and approaches of the students to the future professional activity in the conditions of the war and in the post-war period. The purpose of the article is to determine and analyze the motives of the educational activities of philology students to study the disciplines of general and professional training in the conditions of martial law.
 A survey of applicants of the first (bachelo’s) level of educational programs of the specialty 014.01 Secondary Education of the Faculty of Philology and Journalism of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University was conducted and analyzed to identify motivational typology. According to the results of the questionnaire, the leading motives of the educational activity of future philology teachers were determined and described, their prevalent personal and professional interests during the study of general and professional training the disciplines under martial law were highlighted.

GAMIFICATION TECHNOLOGIES IN THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS OF SMART-TNPU IN THE COMPUTER SCIENCE TEACHING

The article describes the features of the gamification technologies used in the educational process of SMART-TNPU, based on the work experience of researchers of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (TNPU). An analysis of the game technologies implementation in the process of learning computer science at the university and general secondary education institutions was conducted. In the conditions of martial law, the situation with gamification of education is considered, the role of gamification in the educational process is determined. Significant achievements of the teachers of the Department of Computer Science in the study of problems related to the game technologies used in classes with different age groups of pupils and students are described. The conducted research helped to identify the main playgrounds and platforms that contribute to the development of digital competences of the participants of the educational process, help them create their own game projects. Approaches to the stages of implementing gamification in the SMART-TNPU system have been analyzed. The specifics of each stage of gamification are defined, the analysis of game project creation services and their use is presented. The main types of gamification in the educational process are outlined. The examples of student game projects and tasks are provided. The spheres of positive influence of gamification technologies using a Likert scale are substantiated, and caveats regarding their mass use are indicated. Gamification is an example of the use of innovative technologies, which contributes to increasing the efficiency of the organization of the educational process and achieving high results in the training of a modern computer science teacher.

ENHANCEMENT OF THE UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS' FOREIGN LANGUAGE COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE

The development of modern society requires highly qualified specialists in different fields of industry, who can communicate effectively and interact productively with foreign colleagues. Proficiency in a foreign language has become crucial for a specialist’s personal and professional growth. This paper aimes to study the impact of communicative foreign language teaching methods on developing undergraduate students' communicative competence at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. This research employs general scientific approaches and methods: theoretical for analysis, generalisation of the main provisions of the research and clarifying the essence and features of the process of developing communicative competence; and empirical: a questionnaire, observations, testing and conversations for examining the level of undergraduate students' communicative competence. This paper starts with the analysis of theoretical fundamentals of communicative competence in foreign language learning, its general components. It briefly describes some foreign language teaching methods focused on communication activities in foreign language classes. Due to the data of the survey conducted at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University, the impact of implementing communicative foreign language teaching methods on developing undergraduate students' communicative competence was examined. According to the study's findings, communicative foreign language teaching methods promote students' interest and foster their engagement in the learning process, raise their motivation and improve their communication proficiency in English. The combination of innovative and traditional technologies, such as writing essays or reports, constructing scenarios, modelling communicative situations, role-playing, case-studying, etc., plays a critical role in the foreign language classroom learning. Undergraduate students felt more confident in speaking and writing in English due to the learner-centered approach and numerous interactions and communication activities undertaken in a foreign language class. ВИКЛИКИ ЧАСУ У ВИВЧЕННІ ІНОЗЕМНОЇ МОВИ СТУДЕНТАМИ НЕМОВНИХ СПЕЦІАЛЬНОСТЕЙ ЗАКЛАДІВ ВИЩОЇ ОСВІТИ

The article considers the possibilities of using modern information technologies in the process of learning foreign languages by students of non-linguistic majors under different conditions. Considerable attention is paid to e-learning and identification of problems in higher education institutions. To conduct the research, the authors used the survey method in order to collect and analyze information about the respondents. The collected information expressed the opinion of students regarding learning a foreign language in the process of implementing e-learning, their proper preparation for its use in classes. A survey of students of various faculties of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University demonstrated the following disadvantages: e-learning requires more time than traditional courses due to the use of e-mail or discussion boards; slow internet connection causing many problems for students. At the same time, the results of the conducted research showed that e-learning has its advantages: it helps students to understand their educational materials in foreign language classes by watching online videos with the participation of native speakers; use of personal devices, such as a mobile phone, mp3 player, etc.; allows them to use various computer programs; helps students learn the course (material) and get more information; provides an opportunity to share one's thoughts with one's peers on the forums. The authors consider the views of modern specialists regarding the use of information technologies in teaching foreign languages, and also give their own examples of the implementation of e-learning in the educational process; reveal the practical aspect of using an educational Internet resource in the framework of teaching a foreign language; emphasize the role of the teacher as an individual consultant. In addition, the authors outline further directions for the development and implementation of mixed and e-learning, note the need to develop educational and methodological complexes and update educational programs with elements of mixed learning. Formation of a gender fair environment in educational institutions of Ukraine: European integration context

The article is devoted to the topical problem of creating a gender fair environment in the national educational context of the human-centered paradigm, humanitarian security of Ukraine, and European integration processes. A theoretical and methodological analysis of the given problem is carried out adopting foreign and domestic approaches. Through the gender discourse, a conceptual model based on the principles of "partnership pedagogy" and the humanistic "matrix" of the philosophical and pedagogical heritage, the integration of competence-based, person-oriented and gender-based approaches in the context of the policy of academic integrity of higher education institutions is presented, and its effectiveness is experimentally proven.
 The content and structure and the leading factors and mechanisms of creating an educational environment for children and youth based on the principles of gender equality in the conditions of the New Ukrainian School are revealed. The author's definition of the concept of "gender fair environment" as non-discriminatory, creative and developmental/creative, safe, health-preserving, inclusive, based on the principles of social justice, gender equality, child-centeredness, egalitarianism and gender parity is presented.
 The basic concepts of research are clarified, as well as the content, functions and features of a gender fair environment (GFE); its main components are singled out and characterized; on the basis of the defined criteria and indicators, the state of readiness of socionomic professions future specialists to the organization of the GFE is diagnosed. The principles of non-discriminatory education are substantiated, the psychological and pedagogical conditions for the formation of an egalitarian personality of a specialist are identified and empirically proven. Gender competence is considered in relation to intercultural competence as the main professional quality of a modern teacher.
 From the point of view of gender methodology, the principles, content and methods of psychological and pedagogical support of gender socialization of the individual are determined, and pedagogical monitoring is carried out to identify gender stereotypes and prejudices among students of higher education.
 The scientific and methodological support for the training of future teachers has been improved, the modernization of gender-educational technologies by means of IT in educational institutions of various levels has been carried out, and their effectiveness has been proven. The experience of the activity of the Scientific Research Center on Gender Education and Education of Pupil and Student Youth of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine – Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University regarding the implementation of innovative gender-educational technologies in the educational and professional training of future specialists in socio-economic professions on the way to the EU and ensuring the national mechanism for building a parity democracy in Ukraine has been analyzed.

Influence of Language Coaching Techniques on Undergraduate Students’ Motivation in the Process of Foreign Languages Teaching at Non-linguistic Specialties

The application of coaching techniques is popular in the worldwide practice of specialist training and is used in various fields. However, the problem of introduction of coaching technniques in foreign languages learning in Ukraine remains insufficiently covered and requires a more detailed study. This paper aimed to study the influence of language coaching techniques (LCT) on undergraduate students’ motivation in the process of foreign language teaching at non-linguistic specialties. The study sought to answer the main research questions: 1.What effect would LCT have on undergraduate students’ motivation to learn foreign languages at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (TNPU) in Ukraine? 2. How will the students perceive LCT while learning languages? The research employs qualitative methods (scientific observations, analysis of student activity results) to substantiate research theoretical grounds; quantitative metods (testing and self-assessment reviews) to identify the efficacy of LCT, communicative methods (conversations, discussions), and methods of mathematical analysis to do calculations of the collected research data. The conducted experiment involved randomly chosen 62 second-year students of the first (bachelor) higher education level of non-linguistic specialties of TNPU. The study concluded that the applied LCT at foreign language classes during the experiment provided positive dynamics in the growth of students’ motivation to knowledge acquisition. The findings would have practical significance for teachers of foreign languages who want to organize the learning process and make it more effective.

Exploring modern trends in developing a digital educational environment for university: A case study of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University

This article delves into the contemporary tendencies shaping the development of digital educational environments in universities and proposes a model for their implementation in pedagogical institutions. The study analyzes the concept of educational environments, explores their components, and highlights the distinctive structural features. Additionally, it introduces the notion of a digital educational environment and elucidates its essential components for teachers’ professional training at Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University (TNPU): technological, didactic, and social aspects. Notably, the article discusses the characteristics of this environment, such as its information-rich and open nature, digital transformation, and emphasis on social practices and collaboration. To evaluate the efficacy of the digital educational environment for teachers’ professional training, a comprehensive study was conducted with the participation of 432 master’s students across various disciplines at TNPU. Expert assessments were employed for statistical analysis, aiming to determine the significance level of each component’s indicators within the digital educational environment. The results highlight substantial changes observed in the technological and social dimensions of the university’s digital educational environment, which significantly influence the quality of teachers’ professional training.

Current status of the Nymphalidae family (Insecta, Lepidoptera) in western regions of Ukraine

There are original data of the current state of Nymphalidae family in the regions of Western Ukraine in this article. The entomological materials were collected during the own expedition and the teacher training of the students of the Faculty of Chemistry and Biology of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. The insects were collected during 2021. The species composition of the diurnal butterflies was conducted. The taxonomic affiliation of the insects was carried out, using modern books of determinants of insects, the atlases and online sources. The list of species of Nymphalidae family is formed according to Nieukerken et al. (2011). The collection of the entomological material was carried out according to the norms of the environmental legislation. These insects are in the collections of The Botany and Zoology Department. The insects were collected in Zakarpattia, Lviv, Volyn, Rivne, Ivano-Frankivsk, Ternopil, Chernivtsi and Khmelnytskyi regions. The species composition of the collected insects was analysed. 13 species of Nymphalidae family were identified in the studied regions. We studied 80 individuals of Nymphalidae family. The investigated insects belong to 11 genera: Coenonympha Hübner, Maniola Schrank, Aphantopus Wallengren, Melanargia Meigen, Vanessa Fabricius, Inachis Hübner, Agalis Dalman, Polygonia Hübner, Araschnia Hübner, Issoria Hübner and Argynnis Fabricius. We identified that some species of Nymphalidae family are common in Ukraine. The largest number of individuals of this family was calculated. The most popular were Maniola jurtina L., Vanessa atalanta L. and Inachis io L. There were several individuals of Araschnia levana L., Issoria lathonia L. and Argynnis aglaja L. in the entomological collection. We will conduct the systematic entomological studies of the fauna of Ukraine in order to do a detailed analysis of Nymphalidae family and to do the ecological and faunal inventory of the insects. These data can be used for the further analysis of the changes of species diversity of Nymphalidae family.

REMOTE LEARNING SYSTEM MODEL FOR ROBOT PROGRAMMING

The article present the model of the system for remote learning of robot programming, It is built on the basis of the core of the platform, which consists of four layers: the infrastructure layer contains elements that are necessary for the functioning of the ecosystem, and features of the placement of the hardware of this system relative to each other; the hardware layer is a set of devices that make up the hardware configuration of the system: robots, computers which they are connected to, web cameras which are to display the positions of all functional nodes of the robot in detail; the software layer, which includes software tools that support the display of several webcams, an environment for programming and code compilation; the communication layer, which includes the communication channels between the robot and the computer, which will be accessed remotely, as well as the computer’s access to the Internet. The implementation of the model is to be carried out in the following directions: information and consultation; educational one; popularization of robotics and scientific and technical creativity; equipping resource centers divided into functional and technological zones; technological one. The advantages of remote as an element of adaptive education, which enables a student to remotely connect to a class or classroom through specific software, are revealed. The views of scientists regarding the problems of distance learning as an element of adaptive education are analyzed. When studying robotics, it was found that scientists mostly pay attention to the use of Internet services, virtual learning environments, robotics as a promising direction for the development of STEM education or analyze certain control systems, but practically do not focus on remote learning. In practice, the specified model will be implemented through a connection to a computer located in the classroom of the educational institution using a remote access system, on the desktop of which the robot will be displayed from two angles. It also displays the environment for writing and compiling the C++ programming language used for programming the robot directly, and after compiling the code, the user can immediately check the result of the code. In this way, a remote workplace will be created, to which students will be able to connect to perform laboratory classes, and visually observe the results of their work using video communication tools. Practical implementation of the model of remote learning of robot programming was ensured at the Department of Computer Technology of Ternopil V. Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University via connection to a computer located in a classroom of the mentioned educational institution. The procedure was provided by a remote access system. The desktop of the above mentioned computer presents the reflection of the robot from two angles. Also, it shows the environment for writing and compilation of the programming language C++ which will be used for programming of robot. After compilation of the code, a user will immediately have the opportunity to check the result of the code in action. A remote workplace was organized in this way enabling students to connect to it in order to do the laboratory tasks, and observe the results of their work with the help of video conferencing tools.

The war and the attitude of Ukrainians to language

This article is devoted to outlining the main trends of changes in the language and national consciousness of Ukrainians in the period of Russian-Ukrainian war. The language situation in Ukraine has changed significantly since the start of Russian aggression in February 2022. The basis of our investigation are the results of the latest sociological surveys. In order to study these changes, the materials of the following polls were involved: the poll conducted by the sociological group “Rating” (March 2022), the all-Ukrainian public opinion poll “Omnibus” conducted by KMIS (May 2022), the survey conducted by Gradus Research (October 2022), the KMIS survey (December 2022). Presented in the paper also are the opinions of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University students regarding language issues, which were collected in the process of student questionnaires in winter 2022—2023. The results of all studies confirm the fact of changing the language situation in Ukraine in the direction of increasing the amount of the Ukrainian language. Now the process of Ukrainization has become so visible. Ukrainians became more conscious in the aspect of their national identity and more switched to the state language of communication. We can make a conclusion that the sociological data prove the obvious transformation of the language situation of Ukraine and the expansion of the functions of the Ukrainian language. The war accelerates the processes of Ukrainization of the communicative space, and therefore in the future we can predict the continuation of changes in the language situation of the country in the direction of Ukrainian monolingualism. The prospect of our study is to investigate the language behaviour of Ukrainians in the post-war period. Application of Empowerment Pedagogy in Training of Future Primary School Teachers on the Basis of Sustainable Development

The problem of Empowerment Pedagogy has been studied in the psychological and pedagogical aspect and in the dimension of higher pedagogical education. Various approaches to the interpretation of the definition of the defined concept have been revealed. Emphasis is placed on the Pedagogy of Empowerment as a resource for self-discovery and self-education of future primary school teachers through activities in favour of sustainable development. The theoretical aspects of the given problem are studied on the basis of the analysis of the scientific literature, comparative and dialectical analysis of the obtained data. The potential possibilities of Empowerment Pedagogy in training of future primary school teachers to the professional activity considering the principles of sustainable development have been clarified. The impact of empowerment on the development of the strategy of individual independent activity of higher education seekers in the area of personal and professional responsibility has been revealed. The experimental study was conducted to verify the theoretical data involving students of the fourth year of study of the educational and professional program "Primary Education" of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Experimental training took place when teaching the elective course "Education for sustainable development in modern primary school" to future teachers. In the course of the research work, the impact of Empowerment Pedagogy on the ability of future primary school teachers to self-analyse and develop transformational empowerment activities was established. The results of control measurements showed an increase in the number of respondents with an active and transformational level of empowerment activities. Observations of the educational process testify to the increased awareness of future teachers of individual responsibility for sustainable development in the personal and professional spheres.

ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN INSTITUTIONS OF HIGHER EDUCATION: ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

The article examines the present through the prism of the introduction of artificial intelligence, which became the reason for the formation of human dependence on information technologies. In this context, education is no exception, it uses the opportunities of technological progress to change the processes of cognition. Such changes become one of the primary causes of changes in human existence, communication, the way of obtaining educational services, etc., all this in the conditions of the development of artificial intelligence and the conditions that it creates take on new forms. In accordance with this, the purpose of the article was formed: to consider the features of the use of artificial intelligence in the educational process, positive and negative sides. To achieve the goal, the following tasks were defined: to find out the essence of artificial intelligence; analyze the possibilities of using artificial intelligence; to establish positive and negative aspects of artificial intelligence in the age of informatization of society. The analysis of scientific sources made it possible to clarify the essence of artificial intelligence, the opinion of scientists and their views on the use of artificial intelligence in the educational space. The confirmation of the proposed hypothesis was a survey conducted at the history and chemical-biological faculties of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. As part of the experiment, they tried to determine the factors that take place in real life and affected the wider possibilities of involving artificial intelligence in the educational process. The conducted research gives reasons to claim that artificial intelligence contributes to the formation of a new generation of teachers with a new type, level of thinking and cognition. We note that the era of Internet opportunities, given by artificial intelligence, has not only positive, but also negative factors. The biggest negative phenomenon is the lack of responsibility of artificial intelligence for its actions.

Training Technologies as a Means of Forming Sustainable Development Competencies in Future Primary School Teachers

The article deals with the role of training technologies in teaching higher education students of the educational and professional program "Primary Education" for sustainable development. The research is dedicated to the meaning of the term "training technologies", analyses approaches to the definition of the studied concept. In accordance with the content of the sustainable development concept, it were identified trainings in environmental, economic and social areas and it was developed the training programme called "Challenges of Sustainable Development: Learning Sustainability". The main goal of the proposed trainings is to form in future primary school teachers' knowledge, practical skills and abilities of sustainable development, to develop their ability to make decisions in the interests of sustainable development and to be aware of their own responsibility for its achievement, to increase positive attitude to the role of teachers in achieving sustainable development of society, etc. The focus is made on the methods that are directly related to the formation of sustainable development competences of applicants for higher education. It is proposed exercises and tasks for the future primary school teachers’ development systemic and critical thinking skills, self-reliance, collective interaction, professional skills, etc. The author’s training programme was tested during the study of the elective course "Education for Sustainable Development in Primary School". An experimental study was conducted with applicants for higher pedagogical education (students of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University) with the aim to study its impact on the improvement of sustainable development competences of future primary school teachers. Using the author’s methodology, the levels of key competences of sustainable development (systemic and prognostic thinking, cooperation, critical thinking, modelling sustainable behaviour) are determined before and after the experiment. After implementation the training programme, an increase in future teachers’ the level of development of the studied qualities was revealed. It is proved the positive impact of training technologies on the respondents’ development of sustainable development competencies.

Preservation of Folk Choreographic Culture of Western Podillia (Case Study of «Vesnianka» Dance Ensemble of Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University)

The purpose of the article. The article proposes and highlights the method of scientific and performing reconstruction as a condition for the preservation of traditional dances of the Western Podillia region and their secondary reproduction in the productions of the «Vesnyanka» dance ensemble of the Ternopil V. Hnatyuk National Pedagogical University. Research methodology. In the process of research, we used a number of theoretical and empirical methods: review-analytical, historical-sociological, expeditionary-field, ethno-pedagogical, modeling and graphic recording methods, which are based on the principles of dialectical development, objectivity, and historicism, aimed at comprehensive coverage of events and phenomena that occurred during the development of the folk choreographic culture of Western Podillia. Scientific novelty. The method of scientific and performing reconstruction of traditional dances and their secondary reproduction is proposed and substantiated. A new form of scientific and creative activity is presented to solve the problem of preserving the regional dance tradition (the ensemble-laboratory of ethnochoreography of Western Podillia). Conclusions. The scheme of scientific and performing reconstruction of the folk choreographic culture of Western Podillia, developed by us, includes a number of key tasks and our own scientific developments, which serve as a kind of step-by-step instruction and auxiliary methodical material in the work on reconstruction and preservation of traditional dances of the specified region. Creation and activity of the ensemble-laboratory of ethnochoreography of Western Podillia on the basis of the «Vesnianka» dance ensemble is an effective means of attracting young people to research work, which contributes to the transmission of dance traditions to new generations. The Center of Social Initiatives and Volunteering as an important factor in the formation of social responsibility of future specialists

The relevance of the formation of social responsibility of future specialists in the social sphere is determined by a number of factors: the importance and necessity of professional training of specialists for activities in particularly difficult conditions that have appeared before Ukraine in general and the social sphere, in particular; the complication of social work tasks, the growth of the number of clients who need social support and help, and the growth of the personal role of a social specialist in the performance of professional functions and tasks at the micro, meso, and macro levels of social practice. The expediency of using the potential of student public associations, clubs, centers of social initiatives and volunteering in terms of their influence on the formation of professionally determined personal qualities of future specialists in the social sphere is determined by the activation and diversification of their activities in modern conditions and the growth of their role in the formation of civil society. The purpose of the article is to analyze the content and forms of work of the center of social initiatives and volunteering as an important factor in the formation of social responsibility of future specialists in the social sphere and to reveal the practical scope of implementing this task at the Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Research methods: analysis of the experience of the center of social initiatives and volunteering in order to systematize the theoretical and practical aspects of involving students in the development and implementation of social projects and volunteer activities.

The Impact of Metacognitive Reading Strategies on Master Students’ EFL Reading Proficiency and Academic Achievement

The paper investigates correlation of learners’ academic achievements with the application of metacognitive reading strategies (MRS) by the master students in EFL academic reading activities. The study was conducted in Ternopil Volodymyr Hnatiuk National Pedagogical University. Data was collected by means of focus groups interview and adapted scales of the MARSI questionnaire. The highlighted research is of a descriptive character; it has been completed with the aim of collecting the information at the initial stage of the experiment on master students’ usage of MRS in EFL academic reading activities.
