The article is devoted to handling transparent silicate glass by glass fusing and preserving the graphic concept of the design project in the material. The study aims to obtain a collection of creative artworks in the material on the "Portrait" topic, ready for exposition. Since the training took place in a remote form, a material replacement technique was used to perform the artwork. This pedagogical method helps make a task achievable by applying a simpler solution; e.g., silicate glass was used instead of clay, terracotta or industrial porcelain. Background research in the field of a portrait, an assessment of work with nature, samples prepared in silicate glass comprise the stages on the way from a linear drawing to a material. The design part of the project is based on a graphical approach. Working with silicate glass is based on the hot-cold work, namely, sintering or fusing. The incorporation of metal elements in the body of the sintered panel picture was performed experimentally. For an image in material, we used equipment of ceramics workshops, including an electric marble furnace. Photographic material supports the step-by-step method. This research resulted not only in a collection of student artworks ready for exhibition on the "Portrait" topic but also in the proprietary method of graphic work with silicate glass. The obtained artworks took part in an international student exhibiting competitions in 2021. Professional exhibitions should be the result of the development of students works in the long term. In conclusion, a number of proposals are made on the further use of silicate glass for creative educational work in the field of design.

Using the Project Method during the Graphic Training of Future Computer Science Teachers

In view of the modern prospects of technological development, the role of a computer science teacher in providing comprehensive and competitive training to students of higher education institutions should not be underrated. As long as graphic technology constitutes is an essential part of every day changing information environment, graphic training must be paid, especially great attention and the methods for its performance must be thought-through deeply enough. The task of higher education institutions is not only to form the knowledge of the basic rules of performing graphic documents for future specialists but also to teach them how to use their knowledge for rational perception and transformation of the surrounding technology-related environment. The experience of the conducted research proved that an effective tool for the implementation of this goal is the use of the project method in the educational process, which in turn makes it necessary to justify the method of its use. This study revealed the features of using the project method at various stages of forming graphic concepts in the process of professional training of future computer science teachers. It is possible to conclude that in the project activity combined with the tasks of graphic training, future teachers of computer science comprehend the entire technology of solving problems from the problem statement to the presentation of the result.

CLIL: graphic organisers and concept maps for noun identification within bilingual primary education natural science subject textbooks

ABSTRACT Though concept maps and graphic organisers are useful tools for bilinguals to organise the information being managed and learned, its systematic use is not widened and decisive in CLIL domains. Apart from helping students to acquire meaningful learning, concept mapping might promote in them word-recognition skills for the identification and management of relevant information within foreign language (L2) texts. Hence, this article inquires into the influence of concept maps and graphic organisers as tools for noun category identification from L2 texts. Research sample comprises sixty Spanish primary education students from a bilingual school. Design is quasi-experimental, and the training programme lasted three weeks. Materials used during the training period are not exceptional, but the ordinarily found in regular classrooms. Data gathering procedure consists of the identification and circling of nouns by sample participants. As a starting point, secondary data as the intelligent quotient, learning style, and English level is collected via standardised tests. The analysis of the variance showed a highly significant interaction between the groups and the implemented texts both for noun identification (F 3.171 = 12.124, p < 0.000, η 2 = 0.175), and the grammatical categories mistakenly identified as nouns (F 3.171 = 3.840, p < 0.016, η 2 = 0.063).

The purpose of the article is to analyze the main approaches to the definition of the concept of a photo book and to outline the essential properties of the content of this concept. The article reviews the alternative definitions of photobook, considers the difference between photobook and photo album, suggests the classification of photobooks based on the analysis of the balance between their structural elements. A detailed discussion is given on the essential and nonessential characteristics of the photobook definition and the characteristics of the author's photo book as of a product of design and artistic practices. The reasons for standardizing the design of a modern photo book are analyzed and the originality of the design as an attribute of a modern photo book is considered. After a careful review of the literature related the article is concluded with an original definition of a photobook. A photobook is defined as a product of publishing, artistic and design activities that ensures the preservation and broadcasting of ideas, values, feelings and meanings of the world’s space-time continuum by achieving plastic unity of text, photographs and design. In the context of publishing and printing, a photo book is considered a type of a photo album. However, careful comparison of these two notions suggests that a photo book is broader than a photo album. In addition to text and photographs, the notion of a photo book in terms of structural approach includes artistic and design elements. The presence of text is not an essential for a photo book. The graphic concept of the publication is crucial for in the realization of the purpose of the photo book. The role and place of design in the process of creating a photo book is understood as a tool for concise and aesthetic design of the content (concept, idea) of the book, and visual communication. Author's photo book is a life narrative of a photographer, a person of a certain historical time, which reflects specific social relations of the cultural-historical period. The photobook communicates information, serves as a carrier of storage and transmission of information, as some sort of time capsule. Defining a photo book as an art object, a work of art provides an opportunity to reveal not only the aesthetic values reflected in the publication, but also the feelings of the author, his concern for social processes and phenomena.

The Application of 2D-3D Mixed Graphics in the Teaching of Graphic Advertising Design

This paper mainly discusses the application of 2D-3D mixed graphics in the teaching of graphic advertising design. By defining the concept of 2D-3D mixed graphics, it mainly analyzes the advantages of 2D-3D mixed graphics in the Design expression compared with other graphic advertising Design expression methods, and discusses its specific teaching methods and steps in the course of plane advertisement design. Through the "three-steps" in teaching is language- sketch- the training process of image enables students to master how to design a graphic advertising design using 2D-3D mixed graphics as the Design expression quickly, and use the most image popular method to obtain good learning effect in teaching.

Visualization of Nil, Sol, and [formula omitted] geometries

In this work, we propose a novel ray tracing model for immersive visualization of Riemannian manifolds. To do this we introduce Riemannian ray tracing, a generalization of the classic Computer Graphics concept. Specifically, our model is capable of interactive real-time VR visualizations of Nil, Sol, and SL2(R)˜, Thurston’s most nontrivial geometries. These experiences have the potential to allow insights with impact in physics/cosmology research, education, special effects, and games, among other aspects. The Riemannian ray tracing is implemented using the ray-tracing capabilities of the NVidia RTX platform. We discuss the general algorithm in CPU and show how to map the computations to the RTX pipeline.

Design Guidelines and Recommendations for Multimodal, Touchscreen-based Graphics

With content rapidly moving to the electronic space, access to graphics for individuals with visual impairments is a growing concern. Recent research has demonstrated the potential for representing basic graphical content on touchscreens using vibrations and sounds, yet few guidelines or processes exist to guide the design of multimodal, touchscreen-based graphics. In this work, we seek to address this gap by synergizing our collective research efforts over the past eight years and implementing our findings into a compilation of recommendations, which we validate through an iterative design process and user study. We start by reviewing previous work and then collate findings into a set of design guidelines for generating basic elements of touchscreen-based multimodal graphics. We then use these guidelines to generate exemplary graphics in mathematics, specifically bar charts and geometry concepts. We discuss the iterative design process of moving from guidelines to actual graphics and highlight challenges. We then present a formal user study with 22 participants with visual impairments, comparing learning performance on using touchscreen-rendered graphics to embossed graphics. We conclude with qualitative feedback from participants on the touchscreen-based approach and offer areas of future investigation as these recommendation are expanded to include more complex graphical concepts.

Development of asmartphone app for neuromuscular facial training.

Several studies have demonstrated asignificant benefit of neuromuscular facial training in the rehabilitation of patients with facial palsy. However, printed instructions for home training are often not of optimum quality and associated with low adherence to therapy. Professional guidance, e.g., by occupational therapists, is regarded as being of high quality, but is associated with ahigh cost burden, particularly in chronic forms of disease. The idea to develop asmartphone app for facial training arose from the above-described situation. The aim was to provide structured exercises for the mimic muscles in the sense of neuromuscular training with visual feedback via the front camera of the device. Anative app architecture in iOS was chosen to implement the graphical and content-related concept. In the Apple Xcode (Apple, Cupertino, CA, US) development environment, the app's code was written in the Swift programming language (Apple) and the graphical user interface was created. An app prototype was implemented that provides step-by-step instructions on selected mimic exercises via animated smileys. The duration and speed of the exercise can be varied within alimited range. In the development environment, the correct functionality of both physical and virtual devices was successfully tested. App-based facial training offers attractive opportunities to motivate patients for improved adherence to treatment, which could hypothetically lead to abetter outcome. Evaluation of this question is planned in aclinical trial after completion of the development.

MAP-Vis: A Distributed Spatio-Temporal Big Data Visualization Framework Based on a Multi-Dimensional Aggregation Pyramid Model

During the exploration and visualization of big spatio-temporal data, massive volume poses a number of challenges to the achievement of interactive visualization, including large memory consumption, high rendering delay, and poor visual effects. Research has shown that the development of distributed computing frameworks provides a feasible solution for big spatio-temporal data management and visualization. Accordingly, to address these challenges, this paper adopts a proprietary pre-processing visualization scheme and designs and implements a highly scalable distributed visual analysis framework, especially targeted at massive point-type datasets. Firstly, we propose a generic multi-dimensional aggregation pyramid (MAP) model based on two well-known graphics concepts, namely the Spatio-temporal Cube and 2D Tile Pyramid. The proposed MAP model can support the simultaneous hierarchical aggregation of time, space, and attributes, and also later transformation of the derived aggregates into discrete key-value pairs for scalable storage and efficient retrieval. Using the generated MAP datasets, we develop an open-source distributed visualization framework (MAP-Vis). In MAP-Vis, a high-performance Spark cluster is used as a parallel preprocessing platform, while distributed HBase is used as the massive storage for the generated MAP data. The client of MAP-Vis provides a variety of correlated visualization views, including heat map, time series, and attribute histogram. Four open datasets, with record numbers ranging from the millions to the tens of billions, are chosen for system demonstration and performance evaluation. The experimental results demonstrate that MAP-Vis can achieve millisecond-level query response and support efficient interactive visualization under different queries on the space, time, and attribute dimensions.

The process of creating multimedia message is a very specific creative act, a kind of art with universal characteristics, but with its unique tendecieses. In its ideal form, art usually targets the indefinite, while the message follows predictable targets in the short period of time. The art of creating a successful message is in decoding the meaning of that message. The essence of concept of multimedia message is hidden in its formula because the whole physionomy of that message and the volume of expected effect depend on the formula. It is the base for building up tipological, graphic and music concepts. Global development of informational and comunicological technologies catalyzes diversificiation of platforms for distribution of audiovisual contents. multimedial message allows more supstantional contents, and its main goal is to convince a reciptient. modern technologies transfer the pedagogical knowledge and form contemporary visual culture within the recipients. The use of contemporary technologies asks for particular principles. This paper is focused on didactical principles used in the process of creation of multimedia messages.

Cascading decomposition of Boolean control networks: a graph-theoretical method

Two types of cascading decomposition problems of Boolean control networks are investigated using a graph-theoretical method. A new graphic concept called nested perfect equal vertex partition (NPEVP) is proposed. Based on NPEVP, the necessary and sufficient graphic conditions for solvability of the cascading decomposition problems are obtained. Given the proposed graphic conditions, the logical coordinate transformations are constructively obtained to realize the corresponding cascading decomposition forms. Finally, two illustrative examples are provided to validate the results.

THE USE OF SEMIOTIC APPROACH IN THE GRAPHIC TRAINING PROCESS OF INTENDING ENGINEERING TEACHERS OF COMPUTER PROFILE

The article deals with the issues of optimization of the process of graphic concepts formation in the intending specialists who study in “Professional Education. Computer Technologies” specialty based on the experience of the course “Engineering Graphics”. In the context of the educational process, the possibility to build a hierarchical structure of graphic concepts that are required for intending engineering educators for rational perception and transformation of the subject environment, based on the semiotic approach, is analyzed.In the graphic sphere a sign tool is described as an image to be done in accordance with generally accepted instructions. Here a real object, the image one may see on the drawing, is characterized as a sign, while its interpretation is a need for receiving or transferring the definite information.In order to solve the proper assignments, drawing determines its sphere of signs functioning. It proves that strictly regulated structure of lines order with different parameters (sign tools) creates an informational system.Syntactic drawing structure is found as an interconnection of signs, which is conditioned by reactions interconnection. Sign tools are their result or part.Based on the drawing analysis via semiotic interpretation, a dot is found to be its smallest unit. It is impossible to be a sign, since it is a one-sided unit (it has got expressing plan only; it is meaningless). It is a unit for signs structuring and differentiation. A line is a two-sided unit – it has got both expressing and content plan.Semiotic analysis of graphic terms defines their hierarchic scheme. The latter gives the opportunity to provide the levels of the material studying, the list of graphic work types and teaching methods. It may teach students “to observe and understand” contingent graphic image; promote the development and adaptation of natural physiological possibilities into the opportunity to use the drawing language consciously.

Analysis of Social Networks, Communication Networks and Shortest Path Problems in the Environment of Interval-Valued q-Rung Ortho Pair Fuzzy Graphs

The ideas of q-rung ortho pair fuzzy set (q-ROPFS) and interval-valued q-rung ortho pair fuzzy set (IVq-ROPFS) are two major recent developments in the field of fuzzy set theory. A q-ROPFS and IVq-ROPFS improved the limited structures of Pythagorean fuzzy set, intuitionistic fuzzy set as well as fuzzy set by improving the conditions that makes these concepts restricted. The goal of this research is to introduce a new notion of interval-valued q-rung ortho pair fuzzy graph (IVQ-ROPFG) and to study the related graphical terms such as subgraph, complement, degree of vertices and path etc. Each of the graphical concept is demonstrated with an example. Another valuable contribution of this manuscript is the modeling of some traffic networks, telephone networks and social networks using the concepts of IVQ-ROPFGs. First, the famous problem of finding a shortest path in a traffic network is studied using two different approaches. A study of social network describing the strength of co-authorship between different researchers from several countries is also established using the concept of IVq-ROPFGs. Finally, a telephone networking problem is demonstrated showing the calling ratios of incoming and outgoing calls among a group of people. Two engineering decision-making problems are also studied using some aggregation operators and the concepts of IVq-ROPFGs. Through comparative study, the advantages of working in the environment of IVq-ROPFG are specified.

Egyptian satirical graphics on social media after the Arab Spring

ABSTRACTThis paper investigates Egyptian digital forms of satirical graphics mostly published on Social Media by cartoonists and amateurs after the Arab Spring. These include webcomics memes, and Graphic Interchange Format (GIF). The paper will focus on two Facebook pages as a case study: Asa7be Sarcasm Society and Islam Gawish's Elwarka/The Paper. With this aim in mind, I will show how these forms of political satire incorporate, cinema, theatre, religion, western elements and pan-Arabism to express a political view in a creative manner to appeal to a more diverse and broad audience. The first part of the paper provides a brief discussion of Arabic/Egyptian satire with specific reference to political cartoons and Egyptian youth activism on social media (specifically Facebook). It will also introduce the concept of satirical graphics and some of its concrete applications. The second part describes the methodology and provides an analysis of the case study.

The Perceptions of Graphic Design Concept on Students Study on Graphic Design

The purpose of this study is to examine the graphic design concept perceptions of university students who take graphic design education by using metaphors. The research was carried out with 160 students from the Department of Graphic Design at Inonu University, Hacı Bayram Veli University and Necmettin Erbakan University. A total of 142 students (87 female and 55 male) were considered to be surveyed. The students were asked a personal information form and an open-ended question via a questionnaire prepared by qualitative research method. The analysis of the survey data was evaluated by the content analysis method from qualitative research techniques. According to the analysis, the participants created 96 metaphors. The most repeated metaphors for graphic design are; Dreaming (7), Universe (6) and Freedom (6).The common characteristics of these metaphors produced by the participants were collected in eight sub-categories which are Effort /Labor dependent structure, Unlimited structure, Useful structure that facilitates, Multi-dimensional structure, Target-oriented structure, Changeable structure, Holistic structure, Uniform structure.According to the result obtained in the study, there are different perceptions of the graphic design based on gender and grades.

Autonomous shuttle bus service timetabling and vehicle scheduling using skip-stop tactic

The development of new technologies that allow us to know more precisely real-time public transport (PT) passenger demand enables the introduction of new methodologies to improve autonomous shuttle bus service (ASBS) from the perspective of both the user and the operator. This work develops a new methodology to determine the optimized PT timetable integrated with vehicle scheduling, including the possibility of using the skip-stop tactic based on real-time passenger demand. The consideration of a skip-stop operation allows for a reduction in the passengers’ total travel time and in the number of autonomous shuttle vehicles in use. The analysis is based on the deficit function (DF) graphical concept and considers the constraints of the vehicle with regard to capacity. The methodology is developed for a single-depot bidirectional circle ASBS route using the DF as a multi-decision choice model. Because of the complexity involved in large-size genetic algorithm problems, a binary-variable iteration method is applied to attain efficient solutions. A case study in Auckland, New Zealand, is employed to assess the new model. The case study shows a reduction of 1.83% in total passenger travel time and 8.11% in the number of vehicles as compared to solutions that do not consider the skip-stop tactic. Moreover, it is shown that the advanced DF-based methodology could be used to develop fully autonomous PT in a network in the future.

Non-visual Perception of Lines on a Multimodal Touchscreen Tablet

While text-to-speech software has largely made textual information accessible in the digital space, analogous access to graphics still remains an unsolved problem. Because of their portability and ubiquity, several studies have alluded to touchscreens as a potential platform for such access, yet there is still a gap in our understanding of multimodal information transfer in the context of graphics. The current research demonstrates feasibility for following lines, a fundamental graphical concept, via vibrations and sounds on commercial touchscreens. Two studies were run with 21 blind and visually impaired participants ( N = 12; N = 9). The first study examined the presentation of straight, linear lines using a multitude of line representations, such as vibration-only, auditory-only, vibration lines with auditory borders, and auditory lines with vibration borders. The results of this study demonstrated that both auditory and vibratory bordered lines were optimal for precise tracing, although both vibration- and auditory-only lines were also sufficient for following, with minimal deviations. The second study examined the presentation of curving, non-linear lines. Conditions differed on the number of auditory reference points presented at the inflection and deflection points. Participants showed minimal deviation from the lines during tracing, performing nearly equally in both 1- and 3-point conditions. From these studies, we demonstrate that line following via multimodal feedback is possible on touchscreens, and we present guidelines for the presentation of such non-visual graphical concepts.

The impact of teaching computational astronomy on the development of students' computer skills

Some blended methods of teaching-learning were successfully used in teaching the astronomy and astrometry of asteroids to students in Computer Sciences at the University of Craiova, using real astronomical data about celestial objects from our Solar System, obtained from the Astronomical Observatory Isaac Newton (La Palma, Spain). The students were asked to develop some small scripts in order to facilitate the detection and the analysis of data for new discovered asteroids, a request that improved their capacities to understand and apply various modern concepts of Computer Graphics, Data Base and Web design. This approach to learning brings new challenges for the students, new opportunities for the process of professional training in Computer Sciences and provided good result in very short term, the students acquiring very fast the necessary skills to approach both the professional level of Web programming and the modern research area of Computational Astronomy.

Research on mechatronics modeling method based on digitalization

The functional analysis method is used to decompose the mechatronics system into several sub-functional elements and the sub-functions are connected by the interface technology, so the functional element is the basic unit of the mechatronics system. It effectively saves the engineer’s design time and improves the rationality of the design plan. The concept of a four-screen graphics was proposed based on the original modeling method of bond graphs and the modeling of block diagrams and the graphics library of bond graphs was enriched. What’s more, the modeling and design of three-dimensional modeling and circuit boards were added which makes it possible to express mechanical space and electrical space in a comprehensive space and it makes the establishment of the mathematical model of the system feasible.
