This article presents a pedagogical experience that responds to the lack of teaching resources aimed at stimulating reflective thinking and protagonist action of school children during the acquisition of reading and writing in the first grade of Primary Education. Its aim is to produce a booklet of octosyllabic forms, couplets, tenths and rounds, to be used in the presentation of phonemes and graphemes, mainly in the first grade and as a consolidation in the second grade. This experience was carried out in the "Julio Antonio Mella" Primary School, located in the municipality of Jesus Menendez, province of Las Tunas, Cuba. With the application of this work, satisfactory results were observed in the acquisition of reading and writing by the students, including two with special educational needs, since all of them established the corresponding phonemes and were able to apply the content exposed in the verses.
