Marketing and Commodification of Fear in Time of US War on Global Terror

The 9/11 vents have left an American people riddled with pain and trauma with deep wounds, both physical and psychic. The days following this attack were marked by a situation of permanent psychosis, marked by fear and uncertainty, because it was an almost apocalyptic situation. The reaction of George Walker Bush’s administration was, first, to consider this attack as an act of war against the United States of America by inventing a motive for war, casus belli, and finally by equipping itself with discursive, political, propagandist means to forge an ultimate conviction of a war case with the full support of the American people. Fear is a form of intrinsic motivation, and, above all, it can be produced by a number of endogenous as well as exogenous factors. Neoconservatives have understood the manifestation of this natural phenomenon and know how to use it to legitimize imperialist agendas. This study aims to revisit this context of production and promotion “Apocalyptic” Discourse to Provoke National Adhesion to a Controversial Conflict.

Patient Spontaneous Effort Estimation in Digital Twin Model with B-spline Function

Patient work of breathing is of significant clinical interest for several decades. It is particularly relevant when gauging patient-ventilator interaction, patient-specific level of mechanical ventilation (MV) support, and weaning from full support to spontaneous breathing MV modes or off of MV entirely. Current monitoring approaches require additional equipment (usually expensive), well-trained clinicians (to collect and interpret these signals), or/and extra clinical interventions (increases difficulty and cost). This study extends a digital twin model to estimate patient spontaneous breathing effort (Pp curve) with a previously proposed model-based estimation method using b-spline functions. Data from 22 patients for two assisted MV modes, NAVA (neurally adjusted ventilatory assist) and PSV (pressure support ventilation), are employed. Estimation results are compared to breathing effort reflected by electrical activity of the diaphragm (EAdi) signals. Physiologically-relevant correlations in identified Pp curve area (negative and positive) and EAdi signal can be found in both NAVA and PSV data analysis. While Pp curves yield more negative area (larger PRCTneg), the corresponding breaths tend to have lower peak EAdi values and area under curve of EAdi signal (AUC[EAdi]) during inspiration. R2 values for NAVA data yield an interquartile range (IQR) from 0.31 to 0.68 for peak EAdi versus PRCTneg and 0.40 to 0.61 for AUC[EAdi] versus PRCTneg, respectively. Results differ between NAVA and PSV modes based on poorer patient-ventilator interaction observed in PSV, while the same level of expected physiological relevance is still observed. Overall, the extended digital twin model with b-spline functions to quantify patient-specific inspiratory effort shows promising application in helping guide weaning or changes in MV settings at bedside for assisted breathing modes of MV. In future, the identified Pp curves could also potentially be used to replace the need for costly measurement of EAdi signals.

CHEMIZATION OF AGRICULTURE AS A CONCEPT IN RUSSIAN AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES, ITS GENESIS AND DEVELOPMENT

The chemicalization of agriculture is a necessary condition for the intensification of production, despite the long history of the development of agrochemical knowledge, in our country it had to go through a long path of recognition among practitioners and in the scientific community. Organized efforts for the systematic use of a variety of chemical products for a number of reasons began only in the XX century, before that it remained the work of enthusiasts. Over time, the very understanding of chemicalization as a direction and principle of agricultural development has changed. (Research purpose) The research purpose is analyzing the development of the concept of «chemicalization of agriculture» in the context of the history of science and technology. (Materials and methods) Studied monographs, regulatory legal acts, collected works of outstanding scientists using chronological, genetic and biographical methods. (Results and discussion) It was shown that the chemicalization of agriculture in Russia by the time this concept appeared was a long-overdue need, but in the pre-revolutionary period it did not receive full support and was of a debatable nature. It was noted that the chemicalization of agriculture corresponded to the interests of the Soviet government, thanks to which it acquired the status of a nationwide campaign. Over time, it has grown from a slogan into an established scientific principle. (Conclusions) Over the century in scientific circulation, the concept of «chemicalization of agriculture» has changed (with minor variations) in the direction from the simple use of a limited assortment to an integrated system combining a wide range of agrochemicals with machine technologies of their application. Changes in the meaning of the concept reflect the evolution of views in agricultural science and practice, the social situation, the state of infrastructure and the achieved level of scientific and technical potential of the country and its agro-industrial complex.

Activism in Isolation: The Tudeh party of Iran in British Left Discourse during the Long 1980s

In 1983, the arrest of Noureddin Kianouri, the first secretary of the Tudeh Party of Iran came as a shock to the international community. In a letter of condemnation, communist parties from Indonesia to Jamaica pledged solidarity with their Iranian comrades. The optimism initially brought by the 1979 revolution was severely reversed and the suppression of the Iranian Left by the Islamic government was regarded as an attack on the international Left. A significant voice of opposition came from Britain, with the Communist party of Great Britain (CPGB), the British Labor party, the trade unions and solidarity groups coming out in full support of the Tudeh and to take on the cause of Iran as their own. Although interest had existed since the 1940s, it was the 1979 revolution that firmly placed the Tudeh within the discourse of the British Left, energizing the movement and solidifying its internationalist credentials. Similarly, for the Tudeh, which had become side-lined in Iranian politics and had lost members to more radical strands of the Iranian Left, the attention it received helped renew its activism and sense of purpose.

Multi-mixed fractional Brownian motions and Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes

The so-called multi-mixed fractional Brownian motions (mmfBm) and multi-mixed fractional Ornstein–Uhlenbeck (mmfOU) processes are studied. These processes are constructed by mixing by superimposing or mixing (infinitely many) independent fractional Brownian motions (fBm) and fractional Ornstein–Uhlenbeck processes (fOU), respectively. Their existence as ${L^{2}}$ processes is proved, and their path properties, viz. long-range and short-range dependence, Hölder continuity, p-variation, and conditional full support, are studied.

Government Support in Zakat Management Comparative Study of Parepare City and Barru District

This study aims to determine the support of local governments in zakat management and whether there are differences in approaches, especially in collecting zakat using a comparative study between Barru Regency and Parepare City. The data used in the study were primary data obtained through interviews or direct consultations to both the leadership and employees of BAZNAS Barru Regency and Parepare City. The research was conducted to find out how the local government actually supports zakat management and how the methods used by each region in collecting zakat. Hypothesis testing is carried out by comparing Zakat Management by BAZNAS of Barru Regency with Parepare City, based on data and facts on the ground and from the results of research can conclude that zakat management in Parepare City can be said to have not received full local government support in contrast to Barru Regency which has full support from the local government by issuing Regional Regulation Number 9 of 2017 concerning Zakat Management with several regulations and technical policies governing the obligations of Muslim ASNs in withholding zakat 2.5 percent are the main points. a better method for zakat management.

2030 부산 세계엑스포의 성공적 유치를 위한 지역공동체의 협력 방안 – 2025 오사카-칸사이 엑스포 사례를 중심으로

This study aims to examine cooperation cases in the course of holding the Osaka-Kansai Expo in Japan in 2025 from the perspective of cooperation of the local community for the successful hosting of the 2030 Busan Expo. The system for analyzing cases of community cooperation was analyzed in three dimensions: civil society cooperation, economic community cooperation, and political community cooperation. From the point of view of civil society cooperation, the enthusiastic participation of citizens is a significant factor leading to successful attraction. In particular, the difference can be found in youth participation activities in the Osaka area. From the viewpoint of economic community cooperation, it is of great significance to citizens that various cooperative measures with local companies have emerged to achieve the goals linked to the SDGs, the basic ideology of the Expo. In terms of political community cooperation, the full support and collaboration of Osaka City officials and local councils stand out. It is likewise significant since it actively approaches local citizens and businesses, as well as councils in other regions.

Türkiye’de Kamu Kurumlarında Bilgi Yönetimi Unsurları ve Teknoloji İlişkisi Üzerine Nitel Bir Araştırma: Bilgi İşlem Yöneticileri Gözünden

Organizasyonun en önemli kaynağı olması sebebiyle bilginin en iyi şekilde yönetilmesi ve bunun için teknolojik araçlardan yararlanılması günümüzde önemli bir meseledir. Bu çalışma, kamu kurumlarında bilgi yönetiminin mevcut durumunu ve yapılması gerekenleri tespit edebilmek için Türkiye’deki sekiz Bakanlığın Bilgi İşlem Daire Başkanları (BİDB) ile görüşmeler yapılarak hazırlanmıştır. Olgu bilim desenine uygun olarak düzenlenen ve verilerin betimsel içerik analizine tabi tutulduğu çalışma, bakanlıklardaki bilgi yönetimi unsurları ve teknoloji ilişkisi üzerine odaklanmıştır. Bilgi yönetimi unsurları; insan, organizasyon, bilgi varlığı/içerik, süreç ve teknoloji olmak üzere beş ana başlık altında gruplandırılmıştır. Çalışma kapsamındaki nitel araştırma sonuçlarına göre, Türkiye’deki kamu kurumlarında genel olarak; bilgi yönetiminin muğlak bir konu olduğu, bilgi yönetimine ilişkin stratejik plan olmadığı, kurumlarda bir bilgi yönetimi (BY) organizasyonunun bulunmadığı, bilgi yönetimi rehberine ihtiyaç olduğu, üst yönetimin enformasyon teknolojilerine yönelik desteğinin tam olduğu, teknolojik araçların belli oranda mevcut olduğu ancak bilginin yönetilmesi odağında yapılandırılmadığı ve bütünleşik bir sistem yapısında olmadığı ortaya çıkmış, bu bağlamda öneriler sunulmuştur.

THE PAN-EUROPEAN AGENDA IN THE PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS IN FRANCE

The article presents an analysis of the results of the parliamentary elections held in France in June 2022 and analyzes the program positions of the leading political forces of France that took part in them on pan-European topics. It is shown that the ruling coalition, which unites parties that were loyal to the incumbent President E. Macron, expressed full support for a united Europe in their election program. The coalition of leftists, socialists and environmentalists led by J.-L. Melenchon regarding the European Union is divided. Melenchon’s left-wing radicals took a rather critical position on this issue, while socialists and environmentalists remained moderately skeptical, generally supporting the need to preserve the European Union. M. Le Pen’s National Unification party was extremely disapproving of united Europe, but at the same time refused to form a coalition with the right-wing party of E. Zemmour, who was most negatively disposed towards the EU. It is noted that the 10 factions formed in the French Parliament following the results of these elections represent the entire spectrum of possible relations to the European Union: from full support to sharp denial, which will undoubtedly make it difficult for E. Macron to pursue a proEuropean policy based on the French parliament, which he constantly declares.

Evaluating Mandatory Tahfȋẓ Quran Program Implementation at Madrasah

Mandatory tahfȋẓ is a program initiated by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion Affairs Yogyakarta Province. The core of the program is that every madrasah is required to target its students to memorize the Quran at least one juz before graduating from studying at the madrasa. This paper describes and evaluates the mandatory tahfȋẓ program at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Yogyakarta which has been running since 2016. The approach used is quantitative-qualitative. Data were collected using observation techniques, interviews, and questionnaires. The results of the study show that through the CIPP evaluation model (context, input, process, and product) the mandatory tahfȋẓ program at Madrasah Tsanawiyah in Yogyakarta is running well. In terms of the context evaluation, 5% of madrasas include tahfiz in their vision and mission. The program does not have full parental support. When it comes to input aspect, the mandatory tahfȋẓ activities are carried out by 67% of teachers with bachelor's degrees. For evaluation process, madatory tahfȋẓ is carried out for 2-8 hours of lessons. The effectiveness of madtory tahfȋẓ evaluation products is below 30%.

Nurse's motivation and job satisfaction In providing nursing services during pandemic covid-19

Background: Nurse job satisfaction is an important component of a nurse's life because it will have an impact on patient safety, productivity, performance and service quality. Job satisfaction felt by nurses appears with the motivation. The development carried out can help novice nurses become experts. This is also a process of maintaining the quality and increasing the competence of nurses. Objective: To analyze the work motivation of nurses on job satisfaction in providing nursing services during the pandemic. Method: This descriptive correlational study was conducted using Cross Sectional approach involving 55 nurses. NonProbability Sampling and Purposive Sampling. This research instrument uses a questionnaire Application Needs A. Maslow - Nursalam. Data collection with frequency distribution analysis and SEM PLS 3.0 analysis. Results: The final analysis showed This study illustrates that prehospital nurses obtained a positive mean value of 0.414 end obtained a development value the mean has a positive value of 0.517. The results showed that there were 2 dimensions of nurse motivation that were significantly related to job satisfaction, namely the Recognition of Job Satisfaction (p 0.007) and the Development Dimension of Job Satisfaction (p 0.000), meaning (sig value) < 0.05. Achievement (p 0.638), Nature of Work (p 0.621) and Responsibility (p 0.951) sig value > 0.05. Conclusion: Focus on the development of education and knowledge, and make a planned schedule related to nurse development. the existence of full managerial support for nurses to be able to improve their performance so that nurses can achieve success in their careers. This can make nurses feel satisfied with the work they do

THE ECONOMY AND POVERTY REDUCTION; A DIMENSION OF HEALTH IN ISLAM

Poverty and health have an inherent relationship like two sides of a coin. Poverty can make people live in poor health conditions, as well as poor health can make poverty. Individuals or communities who do not take care of their health conditions can encourage them to be trapped in increasingly severe conditions of poverty. Maintaining health includes self-care activities as commanded by Islam. Health is something that has a high level of urgency, because it has a direct impact on the economy. This study uses a qualitative method, using a literature review. The main data is obtained from previous studies, the results of the latest scientific publications and data published by the Central Statistics Agency. In order to create a healthy society, better management is needed from the Government in managing health programs and full support from the community in living a healthy life as taught by Islam.

Predictors of Users' Satisfaction with E-payment System: An Empirical Evidence from Balochistan

This study suggests a research model to explain how the independent variables relate to one another(perceived security, perceived speed of e-payment, perceived ease of payment, convenience, anonymity, traceability) and dependent variable (satisfaction with e-payment) to see if the academic and nonacademic employees' satisfaction level is increased or decreased with the use of electronic payment system. To find out the links among the aforementioned variables, the present study disseminated questionnaire among 350 employees including the teaching and non-teaching staff of four universities i.e. University of Balochistan, BUITEMS, University of Loralai, and University of Turbat. In the present study, convenience sampling was employed.. In the current study, 219 responses were recorded using a convenience sampling method for data collection. The descriptive data analysis was done using SPSS. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was utilized to analyze the hypothesized model and found full support for all the hypotheses of this study. The outcome of the study reveals that the employees get satisfied when they get their salaries and other transactions through a proper E-Payment system. The employees can use these services while travelling or at home or sitting at their offices. Therefore, it really sounds beneficial to use e-payment system in the modern era. This study also checked that what else e-payment value-added services are desired by the employees. Based on such contribution, this study focused on exploring the users' satisfaction through e-payment system. The work presents future directions for research as well as theoretical and practical consequences.

IS THE MALAYSIAN DRIVER READY TO USE AN AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING (ABS) SYSTEM?

Autonomous Emergency Brake (AEB) is the safety system technology for the vehicle that functions to prevent a crash or reduce the high impact of injury or accident. AEB systems are designed to assist the driver only in emergencies situation and to ensure that the driver is always in control of the vehicle. This study aims to identify influencing factors of drivers that continuance intention to use an Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) system in Malaysia. This study is supported by Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). This study shows that 3 factors have significantly related to continuance intention; perceived ease of use, attitude, and perceived usefulness. In contrast, the safety of drivers was found to be insignificantly related to the continuance intention to use automatic emergency braking among drivers in Malaysia. The AEB system is a sophisticated system that helps alert the driver to a lack of human response. Therefore, the successful use of this system needs the full support of the government and industries.

Clinical Characteristics and Cause of Death Among Hospitalized Decedents With Cancer and COVID-19

There is scant information on the clinical progression, end-of-life decisions, and cause of death of patients with cancer diagnosed with COVID-19. Therefore, we conducted a case series of patients admitted to a comprehensive cancer center who did not survive their hospitalization. To determine the cause of death, 3 board-certified intensivists reviewed the electronic medical records. Concordance regarding cause of death was calculated. Discrepancies were resolved through a joint case-by-case review and discussion among the 3 reviewers. During the study period, 551 patients with cancer and COVID-19 were admitted to a dedicated specialty unit; among them, 61 (11.6%) were nonsurvivors. Among nonsurvivors, 31 (51%) patients had hematologic cancers, and 29 (48%) had undergone cancer-directed chemotherapy within 3 months before admission. The median time to death was 15 days (95% confidence interval [CI], 11.8 to 18.2). There were no differences in time to death by cancer category or cancer treatment intent. The majority of decedents (84%) had full code status at admission; however, 53 (87%) had do-not-resuscitate orders at the time of death. Most deaths were deemed to be COVID-19 related (88.5%). The concordance between the reviewers for the cause of death was 78.7%. In contrast to the belief that COVID-19 decedents die because of their comorbidities, in our study only 1 of every 10 patients died of cancer-related causes. Full-scale interventions were offered to all patients irrespective of oncologic treatment intent. However, most decedents in this population preferred care with nonresuscitative measures rather than full support at the end of life.

Mapping of herbs farming as the theme of Catur Tourism Village, Kintamani, Bangli, Bali, Indonesia

The purpose of this research is to formulate a mapping model on the potential of an herbal-themed tourism village based on a case study in Catur Village, Kintamani, Bangli, Bali. The methodology of the research is a qualitative descriptive study by conducting a field survey, namely collecting data by providing closed questions that ask the perceptions of stakeholders managing tourism villages in Bangli Regency, community leaders in Catur Village, small business owners in Catur Village, and the Village Heads. The research results are processed using descriptive statistical analysis techniques by visually describing a set of data, which can be done in two parts, namely numerical descriptions, narrative texts, graphics, and in-depth explanations. Results of research of the descriptive analysis using tourism village mapping indicators posted Catur Tourism Village as a fairly decent village (2.52) to be further developed as a tourist village. This tourist village is mapped into four potentials, namely: nature tourism, cultural or religious tourism, herbal tourism, and agri-horticultural. Conclusion of the results of research based on the analysis of tourism potential, it can be said that Catur Village has fulfilled four aspects (4A) in offering tourism product of four main attractions, namely natural beauty, agriculture, culture or religion, and herbs. In terms of accessibility, road access to Catur is very adequate. In terms of amenities, facilities such as homestays, food and beverage providers, banks, health services, and others are quite available at Catur. As for ancillary, the institutions in Catur have led to full support for the development of the tourist village.

Developing a Minecraft Adventure Map to Support Eleventh Grade Senior High School Students’ Vocabulary Learning

With the rapid development of technology, Indonesia’s Curriculum demands full support of technology in its implementation. As a result, its incorporation into English language teaching and learning becomes inevitable. One of the ways to incorporate technology in education is by using video games. Thus, this study aimed to develop a Minecraft adventure map as a learning media to support eleventh grade senior high school students’ vocabulary learning. To achieve the aim, this research was done by focusing to know how the product was developed, how it looked like, how appropriate the product was, and what the students’ opinions were towards the product. Therefore, the development research with the model of ADDIE by Branch (2009) was used. The research procedures consisted of analyze, design, and develop stages. The participants of this research were the English teachers of eleventh grade in SMA N 1 Pontianak, and the students of XI MIPA II as selected through purposive sampling. The techniques of data collection involved interviews for analyze stage, a questionnaire for internal evaluation, and another questionnaire to know the students’ opinions of the product. The product was made using Minecraft Java Edition version 1.18.2. It was in the form of a Minecraft adventure map that covered relevant topics of English for eleventh grade students. It was also available for PC and mobile devices. To sum up, it was found that the product was strongly appropriate for the target users through internal evaluation. Moreover, the product received positive responses from most of the targets.

Non-English lecturers’ perception and their difficulties toward English Proficiency Test (EPT) for lecturer certification

The importance of English Proficiency Test (EPT) cannot be separated from the career development of lecturers in Indonesia, as it has become a requirement for obtaining the much desired lecturer certification. This research is conducted to find out the non-English lecturers’ perceptions and difficulties with EPT. It employed a descriptive qualitative approach and used a questionnaire as the data collection method. The results show that non-English lecturers agree that EPT is a deserved requirement for lecturer certification. They were also in agreement with the certain passing grades in EPT, certain fees in EPT payment, the institutions which administer the EPT, and the scheduling of EPT. The study suggests that the case leans more towards the non-English lecturers’ difficulties in doing the EPT which concern 1) the lack of preparation in the form of (both) offline and online courses, 2) difficulties in certain English skills, 3) the lack of English vocabularies, 8) the time limit of EPT, 4) the overwhelming number of questions, 5) unfamiliarity with the various types of questions, 6) the absence of clear guidelines in EPT, and 7) the lack of clear instructions for the test items. Furthermore, it was found that while the institution, faculty, or study program gives full support regarding policies and facilities in administering EPT courses for the lecturer certification, most of them do not provide the compensation for the lecturers who take the EPT.

Wind Energy Conversion System Based PMSG for Maximum Power Tracking and Grid Synchronization Using Adaptive Fuzzy Logic Control

This paper proposes an adaptive fuzzy logic based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) based variable speed Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS). The control algorithm, online updates the scaling factors of the Fuzzy Logic Controllers (FLCs) at a high convergence speed. The adaptive FLC is in cooperated along with field-oriented control of PMSG to track the maximum power. The WECS is connected to the grid through a back-to-back converter. The grid side inverter is controlled by voltage-oriented control along with FLC, so that power quality standards of the grid are maintained. The performance of the system is verified using MATLAB Simulink and it is validated that power coefficient of WECS abide at its optimum value with dynamic conditions in wind speed. The WECS provides full reactive power support for the system with a unity power factor operation at the grid. The active power sharing of WECS to the grid/load changes with the availability of wind power.

PRACTICES OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION IN THE CONTEXT OF FORMATION OF SOVIET IDENTITY IN THE LATE SOVIET PERIOD (ON THE EXAMPLE OF THE TATAR ASSR)

The article deals with forms, methods and ideological content of the work on international education and the dissemination of knowledge in national and international policies of USSR in the late 1970s-1980s. The main findings are based on studying Soviet, Russian and foreign literature, containing a variety of methodological approaches, as well as on studying normative documents and a wide range of archival documents. Based on the analysis of ideas and international upbringing practices we came to a conclusion that the large-scale project of international education in the USSR included the distribution of knowledge on foreign and inner policy of the state, instilling belief in the humanistic nature of these policies and involving people in international activities, through the inclusion of international practices in labor activity. However, the duality of objectives of international education was shown: on the one hand, they proclaimed the equality of all peoples of the USSR and the full support of peace initiatives, on the other hand, they declared the need for creation a unified community of the Soviet people under the leadership of the Russian people, as well as the formation of readiness to defend Homeland and the struggle against imperialism. This duality caused controversy in the minds of citizens, and led to the need to move away from the field of official propaganda. The negative impact on the implementation of international upbringing practice was that even in the late 1980s public organizations for distribution of knowledge were unable to give an independent coverage of national and international problems and to neutralize the ideological component in their work.
