Review of the implementation of road preservation and road shoulder widening on SP. Lempake - SP3. Sambera - Santan Project

The main road is a crucial transportation facility that plays a significant role in various community activities in a region, both in urban and rural areas. The total length of this road improvement project is 52.71 km. The enhancement of the SP.Lempake-SP3.Sambera-Santan Road is expected to help improve services and facilitate upgrading road facilities for transportation purposes, benefiting the local community and existing industries. This study utilizes the participatory observation method. Participatory observation is a data collection method that directly involves a researcher in the research location, allowing them to participate in observational activities. The purpose of observation here is for the researcher to be directly engaged in supervising the road preservation and widening project of the SP. Lempake-SP3.Sambera-Santan road. Data collection involves primary data, including on-site observation methods, interviews, documentation, and secondary data used in this report, such as plan drawings, time schedules, and organizational structure. The widening of the SP.Lempake - SP3. Sambera-Santan road consists of several tasks, including preparatory work, excavation, spreading and compacting of Class A aggregates, structural work, and the final finishing work. An essential part of managing construction projects is productivity estimation. The accuracy of the construction productivity estimate determines the management quality. This research established a multi-variable linear regression and another mathematical model for the same variables to assess the productivity of building projects using the logistic regression approach. Data from residential, commercial, and educational projects in various regions of Anbar was utilized in the research. Numerous dependent variables were chosen with care. These independent factors, which include age, experience, the quantity of work, level of execution, and security circumstances, may be divided into objective and subjective variables. The person-hour/unit and the cost/unit are two inputs to the system that are used to measure input/output, the parameter known as productivity. The first is used for procedures that need a large amount of labour and is focused only on labour. All impacts are combined in the second cost/unit. The researcher came up with an equation that contains the following factors (Health condition, equipment available, Security, labor, Quality work, morale, the material available, site condition, Experience, Weather, Height, and Age ).

THE RALATIONSHIP BETWHEEN THE PARAMETERS OF ROUGHNESS AND FEATURES OF SURFACE FORMATION WITH A SPECIAL MICROPROFILE

This article shows the regularities of the formation of the relationship between the parameters of the roughness of the treated surface under the conditions of processing with a tool made of superhard materials. Features of formation of the ratio of height parameters of roughness Rmax/Ra for conditions of diamond-abrasive processing are shown. In general, in relation to Rmax/Ra we have a kind of "roughness arc", when first for a normal untreated rough source surface it is close to 4, then abrasive-diamond treatment of this surface raises this ratio to 6 and then to 8, but further methods of abrasive finishing and polishing reduce the ratio to 6 and then chemical-mechanical polishing to a high-quality surface returns this ratio to values close to 4. This means that if the initial cost of grinding the original surface affects the increase in the ratio, then the subsequent cost of finishing and polishing work reduces the value of the ratio Rmax/Ra to the original. The peculiarities of obtaining a treated surface with a special microprofile, which is a flat protrusions with recesses (a kind of "pockets") for placing oil to increase the service life of such a surface.

Research of robotics and automation of construction processes in Russia

An important role in the construction industry is played by the robotics of individual processes in construction. However, despite a wide range of scientific and design developments in the field of construction, the level of automation and robotization processes remains quite low. This is due to the need to systematize the performed research and development, to carry out complex research and development activities. The paper presents data on the technological prerequisites for robotization of construction processes in Russia. The factors hindering the use of industrial robots in Russia are identified. The distinctive parameters and characteristics of robots in the construction of unique buildings and structures are considered. The main tasks for robotization of technological processes at construction enterprises are formulated. The analysis of the levels injuries at construction sites is carried out. The possibility of introducing robotic technology in the construction of unique buildings with complex technical features is considered. As a result of the research carried out, the scientific problem of analysis and synthesis specialized robots for the construction of unique buildings and structures has been considered. The solution to this problem is important, since it contributes to the development of highly effective means of complex mechanization and automation of construction processes that increase the productivity and quality of installation, finishing and plastering works, reduce their labor intensity, free people from harmful and dangerous working conditions.

Workstation and posture improvement in cutting machine process using virtual modelling

The activity of squatting and bending can cause an awkward working body posture and the risk of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD). This is mainly happening in the cutting machine process as a workstation that needs high precision so that it requires close eye contact with the workpiece. Through an initial assessment using an NBM questionnaire, it is obtained that almost all of the Cutting Operator’s body parts are uncomfortable after finish working. A further investigation is done towards two healthy males (height 169 ± 1.4 cm and weight 73.75 ± 2.5 kg) by capturing the current working body posture and then to be translated to a virtual model and virtual environment, by using JACK 8.2 software. The MSD risk parameters are using PEI by processing LBA, OWAS, and RULA data. Improvement of the posture is done by enhancing the workstation through virtual simulation so that the PEI on the two operators are decreasing from 2.81 and 2.43 to 1.52 and 1.12. Unexpected things happen in this semi-manual cutting workstation, the awkward posture is inevitable as seen in the RULA output of the improved workstation that did not show if the posture is safe from MSD risks. However, MSD risks can be reduced.

Improving the manufacturability of floor slabs by pre-installing elements that partially replace reinforced concrete and formwork

The article discusses well-known and perspective constructive and technological systems for the installation of monolithic and precast-monolithic floor slabs of civil and industrial buildings. It shows examples and expediency of using all kinds of inserts made of plastic and other light materials and products for replacing a part of heavy monolithic reinforced concrete. An original resource-saving method for the installation of precast-monolithic floor slabs with a simultaneous increase in the degree of their construction readiness is proposed. This effect is achieved by reducing their own weight and the use of permanent formwork. Reduction in own weight of the precast-monolithic floor slab is ensured by the use of volumetric lightweight trapezoidal or rectangular inserts, preferably made of expanded polystyrene, during its installation. The use of permanent formwork will eliminate the need for the subsequent performance of labor-intensive finishing and insulation works. To confirm the effectiveness of using the proposed method of precast-monolithic floor slab installation, the operation of two floor slabs was modeled in the LIRA SAPR computing complex - the proposed reinforced concrete innovative slab and a solid reinforced concrete slab. Having analyzed the calculated forces, deformations and the corresponding consumption of reinforcement and concrete, comparative indicators were obtained for the proposed innovative slab and for a typical solid floor slab. As a result, significant savings in material and cost have been proven.

Improving the methods of organizational and technological design in the reconstruction of health facilities

Construction work in the conditions of existing health facilities requires compliance with increased requirements, which imposes additional restrictions on the application of known organizational and technological solutions, which in turn create a need to develop new or improve existing methods of organizational and technological design in the reconstruction of health facilities. In the development of organizational and technological documentation, it is necessary to take into account the fact that medical facilities are not classified as production facilities, although the restrictions for this type of facilities are very significant. The aim of the work is to improve the accuracy of calculations when planning the finishing (plaster) work in terms of labor costs. As a result of the study, based on the initial data, factors describing the limited workplace were identified, which will allow in subsequent studies to justify an increase in labor costs (reduced productivity) for working conditions in a limited space during the reconstruction of health facilities.

WORKLOAD, REPETITIVE WRIST MOVEMENTS, YEARS OF SERVICE WITH CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDRO

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) is an occupational disease caused by disruption of the hand position which is constantly and is often associated with activities that use the hands for a long time can affect nerves, blood supply to the hands and wrists. This study aims to determine the relationship between workload, repetitive wrist movements and work time with carpal tunnel syndrome in cantel eyelash workers. The results of this study are there is no relationship between workload and the incidence of CTS (p=1,000), there is a relationship between repetitive wrist movements with the incidence of CTS (p=0.031) and There is a relationship between years of service and the incidence of CTS (p=0.007). The conclusion is repetitive wrist movements performed by workers during years of work are a risk factor for carpal tunnel syndrome. So that to reduce this risk, it is necessary to stretch your hands before working, every two hours of work and finish working.

Improving the performance of lime-sand finishing mixes

In many regions of the world, there are significant reserves of polymineral clays with a predominance of montmorillonite. Despite this, there is a lack of scientific research on the use of polymineral clays to modify and improve the properties of dry mortar mixes. The novelty of the article is to identify the scientific patterns of the influence of organomineral additives on the structure formation of wall finishing products. The organomineral additive based on polymineral clays with a high content of montmorillonite was prepared in the form of new composition, based on which dry mortar mix for interior decoration of walls of buildings with improved strength properties and operational characteristics was created. It was established that the adsorption of an organic additive promotes hydrophilization of the clay surface and an increase in its effective specific surface. The formulation of an organomineral additive for dry mortar mixes was developed, which promotes the adsorption of anionic and nonionic surfactants on the surface of polymineral clays with a high content of montmorillonite. In addition, the microstructural, morphological properties and XRD data of the researched materials were determined. The composition of the dry mortar mix designed for internal finishing work and containing lime, quartz sand fraction 0.63–0.16 and organomineral additive was developed. The following indicators characterize the finishing layer based on the developed mix: adhesive strength Radh = 0.60–0.76 MPa, cohesive strength Rcoh = 0.35–0.36 MPa, vapor permeability µ = 0.055–0.058 mg / m·h·Pa, conditional ratio crack resistance Ccr = 0.54–0.58, water absorption by weight Wm = 12.29–13.62%, elastic modulus E = 40–50 MPa, shrinkage deformation ɛ = 0.020–0.034%. The calculation in the SCAD Office software proved that the developed dry mortar mixes satisfy the crack resistance conditions of the finishing composites and can be used for decorative interior decoration of building walls.

The article analyses regulatory and technical documents that regulate the organizational and technological features of building production and establish the requirements for additional resource supply when developing a design and estimate documentation, depending on various climatic conditions of the winter period. Based on the assessment of the initial conditions, as well as the complicating factors of the production of works, taken into account as part of the current standards for winter appreciation, additional resource support for the production of work in the winter is justified. Additional resource support during winter work in areas exposed to winds with a speed of more than 10 m/s, as well as temporary heating and accelerated drying (outside the heating period) to eliminate the increased humidity of structures or work surfaces in the manufacture of finishing and other special works.

A resource-efficient development of VELOX-technologies during erection and reconstruction of prefabricated monolithic floor slabs

A resource-efficient method of installation of prefabricated monolithic floor slabs by increasing the degree of their construction readiness is proposed in the article. This effect is achieved by the reducing of their own weight and the use of fixed formwork. The reduction in the dead weight of the precast-monolithic floor slab is ensured by the use of light three dimensional lined forms of trapezoidal or rectangular shape, preferably made of expanded polystyrene during the installation of the floor slab. The use of fixed timber formwork will obviate the need for the later implementation of labor-intensive finishing and insulation works. Thus, the installed floor slab will have an increased degree of building readiness immediately after its manufacture, and will also reduce the weight of the structure, which in turn will reduce the material consumption and accordingly the cost of the supporting structures of the building.

LDA-Based Model for Defect Management in Residential Buildings

This study systematically analyzes various defect patterns that occur during the warranty period of residential buildings using the loss distribution approach (LDA). This paper examines 16,108 defects from 133 residential buildings where defect disputes occurred between 2008 and 2018 in South Korea. The analysis results showed that the defect losses were relatively high in reinforcement concrete (RC) work (3/5/10 years), waterproof work (5 years), and finish work (2 years). It is shown that RC work has a high frequency of defects, such as cracks in concrete in public spaces affected by external factors. In addition, it was analyzed that the type of defect needed high repair cost because the area where the defect—such as incorrect installation and missing task—occurred, needed construction again. According to the level of frequency and severity, losses were divided within four zones to provide detailed strategies (by period). This will effectively contribute to minimizing unnecessary losses from defects as quantifying the losses of defects.

Organizational And Technological Features Of Additional Resource Provision Of Facilities When Producing Works In The Winter

The basis of the formation of capital costs is the resource provision of the construction of the object, which should take into account the features of the applied technologies and methods of construction in different climatic conditions. The article analyzes the normative documents regulating the organizational and technological features of conducting construction works and establishing requirements for additional resource provision, depending on the different climatic conditions of the winter period. On the basis of the evaluation of the initial conditions as well as the complicating factors of production of works included in the estimate rate for the winter rise in price, the additional resourcing production work in the winter, did not take into account in the estimated standards, is substantiated. Additional resource provision when conducting works in winter in areas exposed to winds of more than 10 m/s is considered. The additional costs of temporary heating and accelerated drying (outside the heating period) to eliminate the high humidity of structures or treated surfaces when producing finishing and other special works are justified. The significance of the study conducted is the practical account of the additional necessary resource provision of the enterprises of the construction complex to ensure the quality execution of construction and installation works.

Trend of Defect Occurrence Between Painting Work and Finish Work in Apartment Building

In Korea, defect disputes regarding apartment buildings are becoming social issues. In particular, the term of warranty liability, which is an important criterion for defect disputes, lacks sufficient groundings for its establishment, leading to increased number of conflicts about the timing of defect occurrence as well as responsibilities for the defects. In the present research, we compare the trend of defect occurrence between painting work and finish work in apartment buildings during the last ten years to determine the validity of the current term of warranty liability. As a result, defect occurrence in painting work occurs from the first year to the fifth year. This trend is different from the finish work as a whole and also from the work which has one or two years of the term of warranty liability. Therefore, we recommend establishing a separate criterion for the term of warranty liability of painting work, which is different from other types of finish work.

The purpose of the paper is to determine the optimal control parameters of the process of removing sharp edges and shaping chamfers of the set size by means of an industrial robot on the parts after their machining on multi-purpose machine-tools with numerical control. The article discusses a method of setting controllable parameters (feed, spindle rotation frequency, gain factor and cutting force) by the complex optimization criterion, machining accuracy and quality parameter of the surface layer microrelief. The chamfer size and surface roughness Ra are chosen as the monitored parameters. The algorithm for choosing the control parameters of finishing processing of parts is presented. The authors have developed a technique to search for optimal solutions and software for the optimization system of part finishing treatment in a robotic system that allow to determine the optimal tuning parameters of edge processing: feed, spindle rotation frequency, gain factor and cutting force that ensure the implementation of the requirements of design and technological documentation at finishing treatment. The results obtained are of practical use and contribute to the reduction of manual finishing works.

Construction of the Queensferry Crossing and approach roads in Scotland (part 2)

Autonomous Mower Management Systems Efficiency Improvement: Analysis of Greenspace Features and Planning Suggestions

Autonomous mowers are battery-powered machines designed to mow turfgrass autonomously and continuously improving turfgrass quality and helping the person who takes care of the turf to save time and energy. However, autonomous mowers work in a way that sometimes does not match with the greenspace’s design. The aim of this study was to analyze greenspace features that can be a hindrance for autonomous mowers in order to provide greenspaces design suggestions and management solutions when using an autonomous mowing system. Seven greenspaces managed by autonomous mowers ranging from 200–9000 m2 were selected and studied. Interviews with the owners and on-site inspections were carried out to understand if manual interventions were required and to identify local plant communities. The results of the interviews showed that manual finishing work such as mowing grass along curbs and walls was needed in all the cases. Some cases needed manual interventions since autonomous mowers got stuck on because of shallow tree roots. Among the seven areas studied, the largest was chosen to be thoroughly analyzed in order to suggest two alternative design and management solutions and to carry out an economical comparison with the current state. When the inspection of this area was carried out, three autonomous mowers were used. Analyzing different management solutions showed that using only two autonomous mowers with specific technological devices was more advantageous. The costs of the current management solution using three autonomous mowers exceeded the costs of the suggested scenarios respectively of 2118.79 € and of 1451.15 €. Moreover, redesigning greenspaces with curbs slightly lower than grass and choosing trees with tap-root systems will help to avoid manual interventions. In this way, the efficiency of autonomous mowers will be enhanced, helping to obtain all the benefits derived from using autonomous mowers.
