The article deals with actual problems in the field of integrated engineering surveys in our country. Engineering surveys is the process of obtaining, processing, storing and using information about the environment. This sphere of scientific and technical activity is essential practically for all projects connected with the construction of buildings, reconstruction, planning of complex development of large areas and urban agglomerations and compliance with the principles of rational use of the geological environment. The article shows that the processes of all types of engineering surveys differ from technological processes in industry and construction due to their research nature and presence of research object of nonanthropogenic genesis. That sets a limit to the opportunity of standardization of most types of engineering surveys. Providing high quality of the obtained results is an important methodological aspect for surveys. Significant technical progress in the field of geodesy, engineering geology, ecology and hydrometeorology should ensure the rearmament and development of survey activities, which also involves changes in the training of highly qualified personnel prospectors. The most important barrier in the field of technical rearmament and the development of scientific foundations of the engineering surveys is currently a colossal economic undervaluation of these works. It arises because of the weakness and "wordlessness" of the associations of prospectors who are not able to counteract the government’s attempts to decrease exchange inflation and lack of the designing engineers’ interest in cost-efficient projects. The most important advantage of engineering surveys is the ability of reusing a huge array of previously received information, along the way, which there are significant administrative and legal barriers. The article suggests some methods of these problems solution.
