SMITH USN Captain Arthur C. Smith was bom September 6, 1911, at Somerville, Mass. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in June 1934, from the Submarine School in June 1937, and from the Post Graduate Course in Design Engineering, USNA, 1943. In 1946 he took the Advanced Management Course at the Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration. He has served in all departments on cruisers, as a Naval Aviation Gunnery Observer and as Commanding Officer of submarines. He was designated for Engineering Duty only in 1946 and since has served as Deputy Head Electrical Branch in the Bureau of Ships, as Design Superintendent at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, and is now Head of the Electrical Branch in the Bureau of Ships.Search for more papers by this author CAPTAIN ARTHUR C.
