Interpersonal interaction and the process of formation of the structure of educational and cognitive activity of students

The article substantiates the definition of the teacher's ability to form the cognitive activity of students, in accordance with the structure of the phenomenon of cognitive activity. The results of the empirical research are described in detail. On the basis of the correlation analysis carried out, positive and negative qualities were identified, in particular, the types of interpersonal interaction that influence the teacher's ability to form the cognitive activity of the schoolchildren.
 According analysis positively on the ability of teachers to shape cognitive activity of pupils depends on the teacher’s ability to form cognitive motivation of students, promote positive emotional well-being of students in the classroom, the achievement of teacher interpersonal interaction with students through a democratic style of pedagogical communication; the ability to generate the mental abilities of the students. Also positively influenced by the presence of his own style of pedagogical communication of a teacher high in self-esteem of their own creativity and health. According to the correlation analysis, on the ability of the teacher to shape the cognitive activities of students negatively impact the liberal style of communication, responsibly-generous type of behavior, conformity, adaptive behavior; incredulous-skeptical type the behavior of teachers, namely the tendency to criticism, resentment, suspicion, disappointment in children.

Patterns of Family Breeding Relationship with the Behavior of Violence at Students of the Secondary Stage

The study aimed at disclosing the relationship of family breeding with the behavior of violence at students of the secondary stage. The sample of study consisted of (311) male and female students had been chosen randomly from the community of study. To achieve the objectives of study, a scale of family breeding styles had been prepared, and have three dimensions, they are: the democratic style, the predominant style and the abandonment style.Results of study indicated that predominant style came in the first rank, the abandonment style in the second rank, and the democratic in the last rank. Results disclosed the effect of sex for the interest of males in the differences and behavior of violence, and non-existence of differences ascribed to the effect of the grade, and existence of positive connective relationship statistically significant between the behavior of the violence and the predominant style.

What makes coaches burn out in their job? Prevalance and correlates of coaches’ burnout in Poland

Objective The aim of this study was to determine the range of burnout among sport coaches in Poland and identify its personal (especially psychological) and situational correlates. Methods The sample consisted of 174 male and 70 female coaches from 21 sports disciplines, aged from 23 to 82 ( M = 39.00, SD = 10.93). Coaching experience ranged from 1 to 40 years ( M = 12.00, SD = 9.99). Participants filled in four questionnaires: Maslach Burnout Inventory, Coaching Efficacy Scale. The questionnaire of adaptive and maladaptive perfectionism, and Preferred Management Style Questionnaire. Results Coaches reported experiencing low levels of emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation, but high level of reduced sense of personal accomplishments. The latter was observed in 61.06% of respondents. The correlates of individual dimensions of burnout turned out to be: (a) emotional exhaustion – gender, age, deriving financial satisfaction from one’s job, motivation efficacy, maladaptive perfectionism, democratic management style, and the nature of competition; (b) depersonalisation – deriving financial satisfaction from one’s job, building character efficacy, maladaptive perfectionism, democratic, autocratic and liberal management styles; (c) reduced sense of personal accomplishments – deriving financial satisfaction from one’s job, motivation efficacy, game strategy efficacy, maladaptive perfectionism, and democratic management style. Conclusions Our study suggests that sport coaches are not emotionally exhausted and do not depersonalise their charges, but are professionally undervalued. This phenomenon is related to several personal and situational variables.

Effect of Professional Training on Educational Leadership Styles

This study is intended to explore the leadership styles with reference to professional qualification of the secondary school teachers. This study is providing the direction to readers, students and creates a positive impact towards the professional qualification. It determines values, culture, change and styles of leadership which is helpful for educational sector. The major objective of the study is to explore, leadership styles of heads with different professional training. The study is descriptive in nature, convenient sampling technique is used in this survey. Questionnaire is given to 50 Government Schools heads of Secondary level. Data is analyzed with advance statistics. It is concluded that professional training has no effect on democratic, transformational and laissez-fair leadership styles. Professional training has no contribution on leadership styles. The training effect is not instantly reflected in the leadership style of the heads. It is might be due to the reason that leadership styles, Democratic Style, Laissez-fair Style and Transformational Style are the portrayal of personal traits adopted through their administrative practices. These are shaped up with intensive and continuous training. This sort of training like M. Ed and B. Ed of the heads is not the targeted trainings for the leadership styles. There should be need to adopt democratic styles by Head of schools for improvement in school progress and for teacher’s understanding.

Police officers’ attitudes toward citizen advisory councils

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to explore the antecedents of sheriff deputies’ perceived legitimacy of their agency’s citizen advisory council (CAC). Design/methodology/approach The authors obtained survey data from 567 sheriff deputies in a southeastern state. The authors first asked whether respondents knew their agency had a CAC, and then asked those who responded affirmatively a series of questions about the legitimacy of the council. The authors then ran an ordinary least squares regression that included organizational justice, self-legitimacy and public scrutiny as independent variables predicting perceived legitimacy of the CAC. Findings Deputies who perceived greater organizational justice from command staff were significantly more likely to perceive the CAC as legitimate. Originality/value In response to strained police/community relations, reform advocates have urged the police to embrace a more democratic style of policing, including allowing for more citizen oversight of agencies. The study sheds light on how line-level officers perceive such oversight.

The Headmaster Leadership Style on Junior High School: A Qualitative Analysis

The purpose of this research is to describe the leadership style of Junior High School. This research focused on the leadership style of the headmaster, communication with the teachers, employees and the improved teachers’ performance. This research was conducted at Junior High School and used qualitative data collection method with one headmaster of junior high school and 10 teachers. This research used observation, interview and documentation study. The result shows that the headmaster of Junior High School had done the leadership duty very well; by used democratic and transformational style, and authoritarian if needed. The subject always tried to improve teachers’ maximum performance, communicated efficiently and interactively. Then, there are some major role in the school’s improvement and achievements, either academic or non academic. It became the proof that there is a relationship between maximum teacher performance and student achievement at Junior High School. From this research results, there were suggested that headmaster need to maintain and improve the school’s quality.

The relationship between parenting styles and emotional intelligence of kindergarten children

ABSTRACTThis study aimed at investigating the relationship between the parenting styles and emotional intelligence of a sample of kindergarten children in Zarqa II Governorate, Jordan. To achieve this objective, two measures were utilized, namely, the emotional intelligence scale of the kindergarten children and the parenting styles scale on a sample of 100 kindergarten children, 47 of whom were male and 53 were female. The results revealed that the prevalent parenting styles were the democratic, authoritative, and permissive styles respectively. Further, the results showed a statistically significant positive relation between the democratic parenting style and emotional intelligence in all its domains, and showed a statistically significant negative relationship between the authoritative and permissive styles and emotional intelligence. Furthermore, the results revealed a lack of statistical differences in all areas due to the impact of gender in emotional intelligence. The study recommended that parents should pay more attention to the most appropriate parenting styles with their children.

Parenting Models In Building The Religious Characters Of Children

<p>The religious character building is very important for the child and must be done starting from the family environment. The family has a responsibility in educating children, especially religious education. Religious education provided by parents will be the basis for children to behave in accordance with religious teachings. Parents play an important role in the child's religious character building, such as teaching obedience to religious teachings. A positive parenting style will have an impact on the formation of the child's religious character, especially the democratic style of parenting, in which the parent gives responsible freedom to the child. In the religious character building of children, the role of parents, are, provide exemplary, habituation, and dialogical communication with full warmth and affection.</p>

¿Influyen las prácticas educativas en el desarrollo de la inteligencia emocional de sus hijos?

La familia es el principal contexto de socialización del niño, en el que se favorece el desarrollo de sus habilidades emocionales, por tanto, este desempeña un papel imprescindible estableciendo las bases de la identidad del niño, influyendo en el desarrollo de su autoconcepto y autoestima (Lila y Marchetti, 1995). En este sentido, es el estilo democrático de los padres (Ramírez-Lucas, Ferrando y Sainz, 2015) el que correlaciona en mayor medida que otros con el nivel de inteligencia emocional de sus hijos durante los primeros años de vida.El objetivo de este trabajo describir la relación entre las diferentes prácticas que conforman los distintos estilos educativos parentales percibidos y el nivel de inteligencia emocional en sus hijos.Para ello, se entrevistaron a 249 alumnos entre 9 y 12 años, 53.4% niñas y 46.6% niños Se evaluaron las siguientes variables a través de los instrumentos descritos. Estilos parentales percibidos: Alabama Parenting Questionnaire (APQ). Inteligencia Emocional: BarOn ICE: NA Abreviado (Bar-On, R.) Encontramos correlaciones positivas significativas entre las dimensiones Implicación maternal, implicación paternal y crianza positiva relacionadas con el estilo de crianza democrático y las dimensiones de la inteligencia emocional, habilidades interpersonales, adaptabilidad e impresión positiva en los niños, así como con el nivel de inteligencia emocional general de éstos. Por otro lado, las dimensiones de pobre supervisión, disciplina inconsistente y disciplina severa correlacionaron de forma negativa con las habilidades de relaciones interpersonales, manejo del estrés e impresión positiva, así como con la puntuación total en inteligencia emocional.

The Impact of Leadership Styles on Achieving Local Management Objectives

The present study aims to test the influence of leadership styles as an independent variable in relation to its dimentions ( the democratic style , the autocratic style and the free style ) in achieving the goals of local a dminstration as a respondent variable in relation to its dimentions (the democratic ve objective the political objectives , the social objectives , and the ecomomic objectives ) in AL- Diwanya governorate , and then the attempt to find out a set of distributed to the sample of the study and (24) one were good for analysis . the data was processed according to (spss) program , adopting the methods of descriptive statistics including ( percentage , standard deviation , coefficient deviation , simple correlation coefficient and the multivariate correlation method ) . to test the hypotheses of the study that proved the reliability of the hypothese are represented by the adoption of the free style of leadership by AL-Dwanya in the democratic style by the AL-Diwanyah governorate council in the implementation of their descisions and duties and to be firm in resolving disputes between its members without any indulgence in relation to defaulters . the researcher has find out a matrix through which the council can reconcile between the leadership styles and the objectives of local administration .

Impact of Leadership Style to Financial Performance of Enterprises

Abstract Background: Measurement of financial performance of enterprises is an important part of balanced scorecard system. Previous research has indicated a relationship between leadership and financial performance of enterprises. Objectives: Purpose of the paper is to investigate the impact of leadership styles in Croatian enterprises to their financial performance. Methods/Approach: Survey research has been conducted on the sample of Croatian companies, measuring their financial performance and presence of leadership styles. Results: Overall, democratic style is the most often present in Croatian enterprises, followed by the authoritarian and laissez-faire styles. Conclusions: Small enterprises are more successful financially in the presence of the democratic style. Enterprises in the stagnation phase are more successful if all leadership styles are mixed together in practice, indicating the need to push the employees with all possible styles. Enterprises oriented towards international markets are more successful financially in the presence of the democratic style and the laissez-faire style.

Influence of Principals’ Sex, Experience and Age on their Choice of Leadership Style in Managing Students’ Indiscipline in Public Secondary Schools in Edo North Senatorial District of Nigeria

This study investigated influence of principals’ sex, experience and age on choice of leadership styles in managing students’ indiscipline in public secondary schools in Edo North Senatorial District, Nigeria. Four (4) research questions were raised and two (2) of which were not hypothesized but answered while two (2) hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. The descriptive study based on survey research design was adopted. A population of 184 principals of public secondary schools in Edo North Senatorial District was studied. The questionnaire used was titled: “Influence of Principals’ Leadership Style on Managing Students’ Indiscipline (IPLSMSI)”. The data collected were analyzed using mean and standard deviation and the t-test. The results of the study were that principals in secondary schools in Edo North Senatorial District adopted three leadership styles in managing students’ indiscipline. These included democratic leadership style, autocratic leadership styles and laissez-faire leadership style. The democratic leadership style was the most effective style used by principal in managing students’ indiscipline in Edo North Senatorial District. It was recommended that principals should adopt the democratic style of leadership in managing students’ indiscipline in secondary schools since it was found most effective.

Police Reforms in Slovenia in the Past 25 Years

AbstractSince 1991, policing in Slovenia has been characterized by several police reforms aimed at bringing the police closer to the western democratic style of policing. Initial reforms were symbolic, but important: they involved the renaming of the former militia (milica) to the police (policija) and the changing of insignias. Institutional reform reached its milestone in 1998 with the adoption of the new Police Act, which significantly changed police powers and introduced a civilian oversight of policing. The General Police Directorate became an autonomous body within the Ministry of the Interior. The year 2013 saw the adoption of new police legislation aimed at achieving decentralization, defining cooperation between the police and local communities by emphasizing problem-solving, community policing and intelligence-led policing. All legislative changes and efforts to improve policing in Slovenia are reflected in police training and the level of education required for entering the police increased from secondary school to a higher education qualification. Studies on efforts related to police reforms are also presented.

Perception of Learners on Parenting System and ITS Influence on Academic Performance among Secondary Schools Students of Bukonzo Country, Uganda

<p><em>The study examined perception of learners on parenting styles and its influence on academic performance among secondary school students in Bukonzo County, Kasese District in Uganda. A correlational study design was adopted. Data was collected from 562 students selected using </em><em>proportionate stratified and systematic random sampling. </em><em>A structured questionnaire was administered. Findings indicated that the most prevalent parenting style was democratic style and the least was laissez-faire even as much as parents’ perception may assume that children tend to want freedom. Furthermore,</em><em> </em><em>Spearman Rank correlation coefficient indicated that statistically significant positive correlations exist between democratic, authoritarian parenting styles and academic performance. It therefore implied that children would wish to have parents who are in control of them as opposed to those who leaves them to do what they want. High level preference for parents who guide and mentor them. Therefore, democratic and authoritarian parenting styles proved to enhance students’ academic performance as opposed to leisure fair parenting style.</em></p>

Management style and school violence: South African perspectives

PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to examine the reduction of school violence from the management point of view. It reflects on the utterances by teachers, principals, learners and members of school governing bodies (SGBs) to establish the influence that school management practices can have on the prevalence of school violence.Design/methodology/approachThis was a qualitative case study. Thus, semi-structured interviews with teachers, principals, learners and members of SGBs were conducted. In addition, focus group interviews with pupils and observations were used to collect data.FindingsFindings suggest that most schools were still run in an authoritarian manner. Resultantly, it was also found that an authoritarian school management style practiced seemed to encourage the persistence of violence in schools.Practical implicationsPolicies should incorporate and emphasise the use of pragmatic, critical democratic style of management to address school violence. This is important because a well-run, inclusive and more democratic school can help to reduce external and internal forms of violence. The results from this study further indicate that a poorly run and badly organised school is more prone to various forms of violence.Originality/valueThe paper adds to the growing body of knowledge in the field of educational management and offers a reference point for further research in the pursuit to eliminate violence in schools. The findings may also be a useful resource for school principals, teachers, policy-makers and other stakeholders who are seeking to eliminate violence in schools.

Analysis of the Leadership Style in Relation to the Characteristics of Croatian Enterprises

Given the specificity of leadership, as well as the characteristics of the leader and their associates, but also the current business situation, it is necessary to adapt at all times in order to achieve maximum results together with employee satisfaction. The goal of the article is to explore the presence of different leadership styles (authoritarian, democratic, and laissez-faire) in Croatian enterprises. Survey research was conducted on a sample of enterprises, and level of usage of different leadership styles was measured using Leadership Styles Questionnaire. Six groups of enterprises were compared using Mann-Whitney test according to the level of usage of different leadership styles: (i) small and medium enterprises (not more than 250 employees); (ii) large enterprises (more than 250 employees); (iii) enterprises in the growth and maturity phase (leaders); (iv) enterprises in the stagnation phase (followers); (v) enterprises with the main orientation towards international market, and (vi) enterprises with the main orientation towards domicile market. Results indicated that democratic style is the most present in all groups of enterprises, but in some groups of enterprises autocratic and laissez-faire are also often present.

Психологическая структура родительской толерантности

The article focuses on parental tolerance, an issue still unexplored in psychological science and yet significant as it shapes the rearing potential of a family. Basing on my own concept of conscious parenthood, I developed a model of parental tolerance and tested a number of techniques for studying its structure. The model represents parental tolerance as an integral unity of three components (cognitive, emotional and behavioural) and was tested empirically. The analysis of the structure and content of parental tolerance was carried out using the correlation study. As it was revealed, the key component in the structure of parental tolerance is the emotional one and its elements, such as positive feelings towards the child based on his/her unconditional acceptance, and parental love. The core of the cognitive component is the parent’s mindful attitude towards the child and parental responsibilities. The most essential elements in the behavioural component are communicative tolerance and democratic style of parenting.

Емпіричне дослідження стилю педагогічного спілкування як зовнішньої детермінанти соціальної справедливості особистості вчителя

The results of the theoretical study of the style of pedagogical communication as one of the external factors of the development of social equity of personality of a teacher have been presented in the article. There have been given grounds to the empirical methods of the study. The modified method called ‘Tendency towards a certain style of management’ by Ye. P. Ilin, with the modified content of the statements depending on the specifics of the study, has been presented. Having analyzed them it is possible for us to determine the most appropriate style for a teacher in the process of interaction with students. The practical results of the modified method have been described. There have been given the quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data of the study. There have been explained how the democratic style of pedagogical communication determines the development of a teacher’s features (values) of social equity and influences the nature of pedagogical interaction with students.
