Pelatihan Cutting Tanaman Hypoestes pada Mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi

The objectives of this service activity are: 1) to introduce and train the abilities of students of the Biology Education Study Program, FSTT, Mandalika Education University in plant cutting techniques in an effort to propagate hypoestes plants; and 2) teach which practical science is faster, the growth of hypoestes roots immersed in well water or B1 mixed water. Service activities are carried out within 1 day (plus follow-up activities in the form of observations for 3-6 days at each home). The stages of this service activity are: 1) introduction; 2) cutting practice activities; and 3) follow-up activities (observations). One day activity is devoted to the practice of cutting techniques, then the cut plants are immersed in water to observe root growth (observation for 3-6 days). Based on the results of the activity evaluation, it can be concluded that the purpose of this service activity has been achieved in accordance with expectations. This achievement can be seen from the student's ability to cut hypoestes plants, and students are able to grow the roots of the cut plants after 6 days of immersion.

The Effectiveness Of Substances In Growth Regulators On Growth Of Root Cutting Of Mother-In Law’s Tongue Leaves (Sansevieria trifasciata)

Air pollution is often a major problem in industrial cities because it causes various respiratory diseases. Mother-in law’s tongue (Sansevieria trifasciata) is an ornamental plant that has many benefits. One of them is to help reducing the concentration of carbon monoxide gas in the air. In addition, this plant is easily propagated by cutting. The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of natural and synthetic growth regulators (ZPT) with various doses on root growth of three materials from plant cuttings. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with three factors and three replications. The first factor was the type of ZPT, among others, shallot filtrate and Rootone-F. The second factor is the forth ZPT concentration. They are 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. The third factor is the origin of the plant cuttings. If the collected data has a significant effect it would be further tested by using DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) at a level of 5%. The results showed that the difference in ZPT had a significant effect on root length, but did not affect significantly the number of roots, fresh weight and dry weight. The treatment interaction had a very significant effect on the root length of Sansivera. The interaction with the highest value was found in the interaction of treatment with PGR type Rootone-F with a concentration of 100% with the cuttings originating from the middle of the plant, while the lowest was in the interaction between PGR type and onion filtrate with a concentration of 25% with the cuttings originating from the tip of the plant.

Producing Black Pepper (Piper Nigrum L. cv. ‘Kuching’) Rootstock in a Deep-Water Culture Hydroponic System

Stem cutting is the common planting material for black pepper (Piper nigrum L.) farmers mainly because the method is cheap, easy to obtain, and produces satisfactory number of new plantlets, which are relatively genetically uniform to their parent. However, soil propagation of stem cuttings renders both the stem and developing roots susceptible to soil borne pathogens, ultimately compromising the quality of the plant. Good quality rootstock of the new plant promotes faster, safer, and better black pepper plant establishment. Hydroponic farming thus offers a good platform for producing quality rootstock of the new plants and has gained importance to many farmers due to its flexibility in manipulating plant growth conditions and timely pathogen management, thus safer, healthier, and faster growth. This study investigated the growing media suitable for rootstock growth of P. nigrum L. cv. ‘Kuching’ and compared the rooting ability between stem cuttings with adventitious roots at the time of planting and stem cuttings without any root at the time of planting. In a laboratory setting, a total of 210 stem cuttings were hydroponically planted in seven nutrient compositions, with each nutrient composition containing an equal number of stem cuttings with adventitious roots at the time of planting and stem cuttings without any root at the time of planting. Hoagland solution supplemented with 0.005 mM potassium silicate solution (T4) and Hoagland solution supplemented with 2 mM salicylic acid solution (T6) showed faster root initiation whereas T1 (Hoagland solution only) produced the highest increment in root length followed by T6. The least suitable nutrient composition was T5 [T4 + 6 mL of 1 M Ca (NO3)2.4H2O solution]. The total number of roots was highest in plants from stem cuttings which had some adventitious roots at the time of planting, whereas roots in plants from stem cuttings which did not have any root at the time of planting, increased in root length faster than plants withstem cuttings which had adventitious roots at the time of planting.

K3 treatment (pgpr concentration of 20 ml / L) gives the best results on the number ofilive cuttings, theinumberiofileaves,ithe numberiofiroots, the lengthoof the shoots, andothe lengthoof the roots. The effects of different factors on propagation by hardwood cuttings of some coniferous ornamental plants

Chamaecyparis lawsoniana ‘Ellwoodii’, Cryptomeria japonica ‘Elegans’ and x Cupressocyparis leylandii have great importance in terms of usage areas as ornamental plant. The overcoming the problem, that may be encountered in generative propagation of these taxa, using vegetative propagation method are very important for producers dealing with park and garden works. It was investigated that the effects of different greenhouse medium, rooting medium and phytohormones on propagation by hardwood cutting of studied taxa. In this study, three greenhouse medium (Greenhouse-1, 2 and 3 medium), two rooting medium (perlite and peat) and four phytohormones (IBA 1000, IBA 5000, NAA 1000 and NAA 5000 ppm) were selected. The first root and callus formation dates, rooting percentage, callus percentage, root length and the number of roots were determined. The results showed that the highest rooting percentages for C. lawsoniana ‘Ellwoodii’ were obtained as 100% in peat rooting medium (IBA 1000 ppm) at Greenhouse-2 medium and Greenhouse-3 medium and perlite rooting medium (control) at Greenhouse-3 medium. On the other hand, the highest rooting percentages for C. japonica ‘Elegans’ were obtained as 100% in IBA 1000, IBA 5000 and NAA 1000 ppm treatments at Greenhouse-1 medium, while this value for x C. leylandii occurred in NAA 5000 ppm treatment (73.33%) at Greenhouse-2 medium, in perlite rooting medium for both. The conditions required for the best rooting in cutting propagation vary according to the species studied, and generally, auxin applications, rooting medium temperature 5 °C higher than air temperature and use of perlite rooting medium can be recommended.

Features of the Organisation of Rooting Cuttings of Decorative Woody Plants Under Artificial Lighting with Led Equipment

Obtaining a technology for rooting cuttings and standard seedlings of decorative woody plants under artificial lighting conditions is relevant in connection with the need to increase the amount of planting material required for green building. Currently, cuttings are carried out mainly in greenhouses during the growing season. The development of technology for rooting cuttings using lamps with different lighting parameters opens up the possibility of creating installations that are effective in various conditions. In the course of the study, organisational and technological measures were taken to modernise the greenhouse and install equipment for growing planting material of decorative plants. In accordance with the plan to study the characteristics of various crops using the technology of dynamic regulation of the spectral composition and temporal characteristics of LED lighting in a greenhouse, an assortment of decorative tree species has been developed. Heated greenhouses are equipped with automatic irrigation hotbeds. Cutting of coniferous, deciduous, fast- and slow-growing species of decorative woody plants (7 species and 3 cultivars in total) was carried out. Rooting was carried out under illumination with batch-type LED installations. The success of rooting is studied when using LEDs of various production, with different spectral composition and varying illumination intensity during year-round cultivation. The findings are necessary not only for the development of a regional technology for the year-round production of rooted cuttings of decorative woody plants, but also for the development of the engineering specifics of lighting equipment.

A nanohybrid layered double hydroxide as an effective carrier for delivery and application of the phytohormone indole acetic acid

The increasing need for agricultural production on the one hand, and requirements for greener and more sustainable agricultural practices on the other, have led to a growing demand for efficient and eco-friendly materials for the delivery of agrochemicals. Here we describe, the use of layered double hydroxide (LDH) particles as a carrier for a plant hormone. Magnesium–aluminum LDH intercalated with indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) was synthesized by co-precipitation method, characterized, and examined for real-life applications. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that both pristine and IAA-intercalated LDH particles exhibit hexagonal platelet morphology. X-ray diffraction showed a hydrotalcite-like structure and, together with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, verified the efficacious intercalation of IAA anions. The intercalation protected the IAA from enzymatic degradation and allowed its sustained release, as demonstrated by enzymatic stability and release tests, correspondingly. In-vivo assay revealed that intercalation inside LDH significantly increases the biological activity of IAA in promoting adventitious root development in plant cuttings. Results demonstrate the applicability of LDH as an advanced, effective, and sustainable carrier that overcomes the practical limitations of agrochemicals and significantly enhances their efficiency.

The Effect Of Giving Various Kinds And Immersion Of ZPT On The Growth Of Tin Cuttings (Ficus carica L.).

This study aims to determine the effect of giving various kinds and duration of ZPT immersion on the growth of tin plant cuttings (Ficus carica L.). This research was carried out in October - December 2020, at the Terdana Village, Pondok Kubang District, Central Bengkulu Regency. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors, the first factor was giving various PGR (Z) which consisted of Control, Rootone-F, Shallot Solution, Bamboo Shoots Solution, while the second factor was the duration of immersion of PGR which consisted of of 12 hours, 18 hours, 24 hours, each treatment was repeated 3 times. The results of the study were analyzed using Variety Analysis and if it had a significant effect, further tests were carried out using Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) level 5%. The results showed that there was an interaction between the administration of Rootone-F and the immersion time of ZPT 12 to 24 hours on the percentage of live cuttings of Tin (Ficus carica L.) plant. 12 WAP, root length, percentage of live cuttings and leaf area on cuttings growth of Tin (Ficus carica L.) PGR immersion time treatment was not able to increase shoot length 12 WAP, number of shoots 12 WAP, number of leaves 12 WAP, root length, percentage of cuttings Life and leaf area on the growth of cuttings of Tin (Ficus carica L.) It is recommended to increase the concentration of natural PGR so that it can be used as a substitute for Rootone-F.

Plant Growth Regulator Impacts on Vegetative Cutting Production of Moroccan Pincushion (Pterocephalus depressus) Plants

Abstract Moroccan pincushion (Pterocephalus depressus) is a drought-tolerant perennial that is being used in landscapes throughout arid areas of the western United States. This paper describes two experiments researching vegetative cutting production from stock plants. Moroccan pincushion stock plants received foliar applications of gibberellic acid (GA3), benzyladenine, ethephon, or auxin [indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)] plant growth regulators (PGR). Plant growth regulators were applied singularly and in combination with GA3 to determine efficacy on stock plant growth. A propagation study was conducted simultaneously to determine effects of these different PGR treatments applied to stock plants on the rooting of moroccan pincushion cuttings. The stock plant study showed GA3 + benzyladenine application increased cutting production over other PGR treatments. Fresh weight of moroccan pincushion cuttings did not differ among treatments. While cuttings did not differ in dry weight in experiment 1, statistical differences were observed in experiment 2. However, these differences in dry weight did not affect the quality of the cuttings. Cuttings from stock plants treated with GA3 + IBA treatment had the highest numerical growth index [(height + width + width)/3]. Cuttings from stock plants treated with GA3 alone or in combination with another PGR were all greater in average growth index and statistically differed from those without GA3 being applied. PGR treatments did not affect rooting percentages of the cuttings with nontreated stock plant cuttings successfully rooting at an average rate of 95%. However, GA3 + IBA was the only treatment where cuttings had 100% rooting for both experiments, indicating potential rooting benefits. Development of a triple antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for cassava mosaic disease detection using a monoclonal antibody to Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus

BackgroundCassava mosaic disease (CMD) is one of the most devastating viral diseases for cassava production in Africa and Asia. Accurate yet affordable diagnostics are one of the fundamental tools supporting successful CMD management, especially in developing countries. This study aimed to develop an antibody-based immunoassay for the detection of Sri Lankan cassava mosaic virus (SLCMV), the only cassava mosaic begomovirus currently causing CMD outbreaks in Southeast Asia (SEA).MethodsMonoclonal antibodies (MAbs) against the recombinant coat protein of SLCMV were generated using hybridoma technology. MAbs were characterized and used to develop a triple antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (TAS-ELISA) for SLCMV detection in cassava leaves and stems. Assay specificity, sensitivity and efficiency for SLCMV detection was investigated and compared to those of a commercial ELISA test kit and PCR, the gold standard.ResultsA TAS-ELISA for SLCMV detection was successfully developed using the newly established MAb 29B3 and an in-house polyclonal antibody (PAb) against begomoviruses, PAb PK. The assay was able to detect SLCMV in leaves, green bark from cassava stem tips, and young leaf sprouts from stem cuttings of SLCMV-infected cassava plants without cross-reactivity to those derived from healthy cassava controls. Sensitivity comparison using serial dilutions of SLCMV-infected cassava sap extracts revealed that the assay was 256-fold more sensitive than a commercial TAS-ELISA kit and 64-fold less sensitive than PCR using previously published SLCMV-specific primers. In terms of DNA content, our assay demonstrated a limit of detection of 2.21 to 4.08 × 106 virus copies as determined by quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR). When applied to field samples (n = 490), the TAS-ELISA showed high accuracy (99.6%), specificity (100%), and sensitivity (98.2%) relative to the results obtained by the reference PCR. SLCMV infecting chaya (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) and coral plant (Jatropha multifida) was also reported for the first time in SEA.ConclusionsOur findings suggest that the TAS-ELISA for SLCMV detection developed in this study can serve as an attractive tool for efficient, inexpensive and high-throughput detection of SLCMV and can be applied to CMD screening of cassava stem cuttings, large-scale surveillance, and screening for resistance.

Propagação vegetativa de amoreira-preta das cultivares Tupy e BRS Cainguá

O presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar o potencial de enraizamento e brotação de estacas caulinares lenhosas e de raiz das cultivares Tupy e BRS Cainguá de amoreira-preta. Para a realização desse experimento foram coletadas estacas caulinares e radiculares das plantas matrizes de amoreira-preta. Posteriormente, essas estacas foram levadas para a casa de vegetação e colocadas em bandejas de poliestireno expandido (72 células) contendo mistura do substrato comercial Turfa fértil® e vermiculita expandida na proporção 2:1 (v:v). Os tratamentos consistiram em diferentes tipos de estacas (caulinar e radicular) e duas cultivares (‘Tupy’ e ‘Cainguá’). O delineamento experimental adotado foi inteiramente casualizados, sendo um bifatorial (cultivares X tipo de estaca) com quatro repetições, contendo 10 estacas cada. Após 97 dias da instalação do experimento foram avaliados os seguintes parâmetros: porcentagem de estacas enraizadas (%), porcentagem de sobrevivência (%), número de folhas, área foliar (cm²), comprimento de parte aérea e da maior raiz (cm), massa fresca e seca de parte aérea e do sistema radicular (g). A propagação da amoreira-preta da cultivar BRS Cainguá pode ser realizada de forma eficaz tanto por estaca caulinar como radicular. No caso da cultivar Tupy teve menor potencial de enraizamento, quando comparada com a Cainguá. As estacas radiculares apresentaram maiores resultados no enraizamento de amoreira-preta.

Potato phytopathogene bank and in vitro seed farming: illumination, medium

The investigation of light spectrum influence on growth and development of potato single node cuttings was conducted. Regionized cultivars were involved into the study. Apical meristems were used as explants for microplants creation and cultivated on Murashige-Skoog medium with adding. Microplants were exposed to three light treatments: red LEDs, blue LEDs and white luminescent lamps. It was shown, that red light is not suitable for potato single node cuttings cultivation in vitro under light intensity of 45 µmol photons/m2s. Red and blue light increased the rate of cuttings rhisogenesis. The maximum of nodes per plant developed under blue and white light. The influence of genotype on node quantity was detected. Tuleevskiy cultivar had maximum nodes per microplant and considers being the most perspective for micropropagation, Favorit cultivar – minimum. Microtuberization was obtained on the node cultivation medium in the presence of 1 mg/l IAA and 0.04 mg/l kinetine. The minimum weight and number of microtubers were appropriate to the samples cultivated on hormonal medium. The screening of potato tubers and plant cuttings, which had been collected across Krasnoyarsk Territory, for phytopathogenes presence, was conducted. Alternaria and Fusarium genera dominated among detected micromycetes. Isolates of Botrytis, Aspergillus, Penicillium, Trichothecium genera were recovered.

IMPACT OF ROOTING PROMOTER (PHOS ROOT-X) WITH OR WITHOUT USING IBA ON ROOTING OF TERMINAL AND MIDDLE CUTTINGS OF ROSEMARY (ROSMARINUS OFFICINALIS L.)

This study was carried out in the Ornamental Plants Farm, Horticulture Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Ain Shams University, Cairo, Egypt. Two individual experiments were done. The first experiment aimed to study the effect of Phos root-x as newly rooting promoter at different rates (0, 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5 and 3 cm3/l) on rooting of the terminal cuttings of rosemary plants. This study was carried out on 20th of July during the two seasons of 2019 and 2020. The experiment consisted of 7 treatments with 3 replicates, every replicate contained 3 cuttings per treatment. Data collected refer to that the 2.5 cm3/l of the newly rooting promotors were the best. Chemical analysis of terminal cutting refers to a decreasing in C/N ratio of terminal cuttings with increasing of Phos root-x concentrations. The second experiment was done on 25th of October in the same seasons, 2019 and 2020 for both terminal and middle cuttings and treated with Phos root-x complex with or without IBA, the treatments were 0, 1, 2, 3 cm3/l of Phos root-x with or without IBA at 0, 100, 500 ppm in combination. The experiment consisted of 24 treatments; each treatment consisted of three replicates with 3 cuttings per replicate. Data showed that for all parameters the best types for rooting was terminal cuttings, and a higher concentration of phos root-x favored better results especially with 3 cm3/l level. These results may be due to the higher concentrations of amino acids complex inside the newly rooting promotor compound (Phos root-x).

Growth of willow energy plantations on the marginal lands of the Kyiv Polissia

Purpose. Investigation of the features of growth, development and productivity of energy willow varieties on peat-bog and alluvial sandy soils in the floodplains of the Kyiv Polissia rivers.
 Methods. Field, laboratory, analytical, and statistical.
 Results. It is advisable to use the variety ‘Zbruch’, to create willow energy plantations on the peat-swampy soils of the Kyiv Polissia. It is characterized by the highest yield of three-year biomass (9.84 t/ha), while in the ‘Ternopil’ cultivar the maximum was 3.29 t/ha and in the Salix triandra clone 2.68 t/ha. On alluvial sandy soil, the highest average height (194 ± 6.6 cm), with a productivity of two-year biomass of 3.15 t/ha had Swedish variety ‘Tordis’. In addition, relatively high productivity have Polish varietyes ‘082’ and ‘1047’ and the domestic variety ‘Ternopil’. The productivity of the latter after two years of growth on the sandy soil is 1.53–6.41 t/ha, and after three years on the peat soil only 1.74–3.29 t/ha. To increase the productivity of energy plantations of willow on fresh alluvial sandy soils, it is advisable to apply organic and mineral fertilizers, and on peat soils to apply deep plowing, to conduct proper control over the number of weeds, to use the density of planting cuttings about 20 000 plants ha and a 4-year biomass harvest cycle.
 Conclusions. It is established that in alluvial soils of floodplains of Kyiv Polissia rivers, fresh alluvial soils are more suitable for growing willow energy plantations than rich on organic substances moist peat-bog soils. ‘Tordis’, ‘082’, ‘1047’ and ‘Ternopil’ varieties are promising for growing on the sandy soils of the study area, and ‘Zbruch’ for peat soils. Considering the low fertility of the studied variants of marginal lands, in order to increase the efficiency of cultivation of energy biomass of willow on them, first of all, it is necessary to improve the water-physical properties of soils.

Handle with care [robots in horticulture

FROM THE HEADLINES, you might think that robots are on the point of replacing hard-working human fruit, veg and flower pickers, thus solving the difficulties that farmers have in recruiting a workforce to bring in the harvest. The reality is somewhat different. Robots that can mass-harvest horticultural crops may be at least five years away – but prototypes are already working in fields, glasshouses and poly tunnels to plant cuttings, control disease, pick berries and assist in the breeding process.

Post-Fire Demography, Growth, and Control of Eucalyptus globulus Wildlings

Several eucalypt species are known for their capacity to massively regenerate through seeds in recently burned areas, becoming an ecological problem in regions where the species is not native. Here we study the demography and the development of highly dense Eucalyptus globulus wildling populations established one year after a fire and test two methods to control these populations. We monitored five mixed E. globulus stands across one year, in Central Portugal. We established a set of plots in each stand, with three treatments: mechanical cutting, herbicide spraying and no disturbance (control plots). Herbicide was applied in four concentrations. We tagged randomly selected plants in the control plots to monitor their growth. The initial mean wildling density was 322,000 plants ha−1, the highest ever recorded in the introduced range. Wildling density was significantly dependent on the density of surrounding adult E. globulus trees. Wildling density in control plots decreased 30% in one year, although showing positive variations over time because of new recruitment. Despite seasonal growth differences, wildlings showed a high growth rate throughout the year, reaching 15.6 cm month−1 in the summer. The growth rate of tagged wildings was positively affected by solar radiation and negatively affected by evapotranspiration and maximum temperature. Mechanical cutting reduced wildling density by 97% while herbicide treatment reduced density between 80% (for the lowest concentration) and 99% (for the highest concentration). Herbicide-treated plants were more likely to resprout than cut plants. Regardless of the control method adopted (cutting or herbicide), management strategies should include the follow-up of the treated areas, to detect the establishment of new recruits and resprouting.

In vitro and ex vivo vegetative propagation and cytokinin profiles of Sceletium tortuosum (L.) N. E. Br.: a South African medicinal plant

Sceletium tortuosum is a South African protected species with tremendous value in traditional and modern medicine. The plants’ mesembrine-type alkaloids are potential therapeutics for a plethora of psychological, neurological and inflammatory disorders. In our in vitro and ex vivo studies, vegetative propagation and growth of this species were investigated. Cytokinin (CK) profiles were also explored. Shoot multiplication was induced on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 2.5 µM indole-3-butyric acid (IBA). In vitro-generated shoots were inoculated on MS medium supplemented with 0, 2.5, 5.0 and 10.0 µM IBA or indole-3-acetic acid (IAA). Optimal rooting (55%), mean number of roots (3.80 ± 0.83) and new leaf pairs (4.65 ± 0.67) were achieved by 10.0 µM IBA. After greenhouse acclimatization, 45–90% of plantlets survived. All ex vivo shoot cuttings rooted well (90–100%). The highest mean number of roots (11.20 ± 1.37) and root length (57.18 ± 3.85 mm) were obtained by 5.0 µM IBA. Although spontaneous rooting was observed in both experiments, auxins enhanced multiple growth parameters. Cytokinin analyses of tissue-cultured (auxin-treated) and greenhouse (untreated) plants revealed higher cytokinin levels in vitro. These investigations provide rapid and efficient propagation techniques for Sceletium tortuosum which will be valuable to conservationists and pharmaceutical companies. Plant tissue culture and cuttings enabled rapid propagation of Sceletium tortuosum. Exogenous plant growth regulators were not essential for shoot multiplication, flowering and rooting. Auxins effectively improved growth parameters.

Türkiye İçin Endemik Astragalus vulnerariae DC. Taksonunun Çelikle Üretimi ve Peyzajda Kullanım Olanakları

Türkiye, bulunduğu coğrafik konumu ve arazi yapısından dolayı oldukça zengin doğal bitki çeşitliliğine sahiptir. Bu çalışmada doğal olarak yayılış gösteren Fabaceae familyasına ait endemik Astragalus vulnerariae DC. taksonunun yarı kontrollü serada ilkbahar ve sonbahar dönemlerinde çelikle üretimi yapılarak peyzaj çalışmalarında kullanım alanları belirlenmiştir. Bitki çelikleri köklendirilirken; kontrol grubu, 5.000 ppm ve 10.000 ppm‘lik IBA konsantrasyonlarıyla üç uygulama yapılmıştır. Köklenme sonrası elde edilen verilere göre uygulamalar arasında istatistiki olarak anlamlı bir fark elde edilmiştir. A. vulnerariae çeliklerinde en iyi köklenme, ilkbahar döneminde, %60 oranında 5.000 ppm‘lik IBA hormon uygulamasında görülmüştür. Hem estetik hem de fonksiyonel özellikleri ile dikkat çeken A. vulnerariae taksonunun peyzaj çalışmalarında, yer örtücü olarak kullanımı başta olmak üzere, kaya bahçeleri, çatı ve teras bahçeleri ve peyzaj onarım çalışmalarında kullanılabileceği belirlenmiştir.

Pengaruh Rendaman Ekstrak Bawang Merah dan Rootone –F Terhadap Pertumbuhan Stek Batang Sungkai (Albertisia papuana Becc.)

Efforts to cultivate sungkai plants are hampered due to the limitations of good seedlings. Sungkai plants reproduce by seeds and stems (cuttings). This research will try to investigate the effect of using Growth Regulatory Substances (ZPT)against stem cuttings of sungkai plants. The study was designed in the Draft Randomized Complete (CRD) with 2 factors, each with 5 treatments. The factors tested were (1) synthetic auxin (Rootone F) with 5 concentrations, i.e. 20 grams / l (R1), 40 grams / l (R2), 60 grams / l (R3), 80 grams / l (R4) and 100 gram / l (R5); (2) natural auxin (onion extract with 5 concentrations, i.e. 20% (B1), 40% (B2), 60% (B3), 80% (B4) and 100% (B5). Besides that control plots were also carried out, which were not treated at all. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so in a manner in total there were 33 experimental units (including 3 treatment experimental units control). The results showed that giving Rootone F solution affected the growth of sungkai stem cuttings (Albertisia papuana Becc.) on the observed variabels, namely shoot height, number of leaves, root length, and root wet weight. Giving Rootone F solution to sungkai stem cuttings at a concentration of 80 grams and immersion for 24 hours gave the best effect.
