In 1999, with the implementation of the Human Resource Management Programs of the National Petroleum Agency- ANP, Brazilian universities and research centers created opportunities for the development of science and technology in the field of oil, gas, and biofuels. This academic environment favored the creation of the Brazilian Association of Research and Development in Petroleum and Gas - ABPG, which started organizing a biannual Brazilian Conference to promote the research and development in oil and gas- PDPetro. In addition, there was a growing demand from researchers, requesting the elaboration of a National level technical/scientific Journal in the field. During the third PDPetro, held in 2007 in Campinas-SP, the ABPG announced the implementation of the Brazilian Journal of Petroleum and Gas- BJPG, the first scientific journal in Brazil to focus on the areas of oil, gas, and biofuels. The journal, published on the SEER platform– Electronic System of Journal Editing, simplified the process in terms of economics and ease of publication. This June 2018 edition celebrates 11 years of BJPG. The figures of this period are very positive: 15,247 registered viewers of BJPG; 581 peer reviewers; 434,706 downloads; and 198 published articles. Looking at the future, for the Journal to continue to grow and consolidate as an International Journal that is Nationally recognized for its quality and Innovation in research, we need a greater support from the community of researchers. The current editors, who started the magazine, feel gratified with the support of the entire community of researchers and reviewers who, during the period mentioned, demonstrated their readiness to cooperate with the Journal. Furthermore, we wish that such support continues with the next editors of the magazine enriching the research in the area of oil, gas, and biofuels. Prof. Afonso Avelino Dantas Neto Editor-in-Chief
