As the revolutionary culture is the valuable spiritual wealth of the Communist Party of China (CPC) from overcoming multiple difficulties and challenges, an outstanding achievement of the sinicization of Marxism, the traditions of revolution therein are important carrier of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era. Containing the essence of Marxist ideology, the spirit of hard work and fearless sacrifice, the revolutionary culture is the inheritance and innovation of excellent traditional culture, and the endogenous power of cultural self-confidence. At present, the realization of the value function of the revolutionary culture in the ideological and political education in colleges and universities is faced with actual challenges such as the infiltration of western ideology, the lack of the subject function of colleges and universities, and the limitation of network communication. Giving full play to the main channel of ideological and political courses, strengthening the educational joint forces of revolutionary culture and campus culture, and innovating the revolutionary culture communication platform are the necessary ways to promote the revolutionary culture education.

The travelogue cooking show in a sub-state nation: Representing Scotland in British food television

Food television offers a new and unique lens on national identity, the Anglo-Scottish relationship, and their cultural representation in contemporary Britain. This article is based on the analysis of three British travelogue cooking shows, first broadcast between 1995 and 2011, about Scotland and its food. The programmes analysed exemplify and reinforce long-standing cultural constructions of the relationship between England and Scotland as sub-state nations of the United Kingdom, as well as illustrating and creating new national scripts, notably in relation to class and gender. These ‘homeland’ travelogue cooking shows consistently associate Scotland with a defined set of local and traditional foods, closely associated with a Romantic construction of Scotland, its history and landscape. However, the programmes also indicate wider changes in British and Scottish food culture during this period, including the rise of the local food movement and the increasing economic success and cultural confidence of the Scottish food and drink industry. The article highlights the role of celebrity chefs in the cultural construction of contemporary British sub-state national relationships.

Incorporating The Influence of Regional Culture in Tableware Design: The Case Study of Chaoshan Area

Tableware has traditionally played a significant part in China’s food culture and has a high usage rate as a product directly tied to everyday life. Therefore, designing tableware with local cultural characteristics may aid in the education of people to appreciate local culture. However, there is a considerable shortage of research on tableware with Chaoshan cultural elements. Hence, this research will include both Chaoshan culture and tableware design. It is recommended that Chaoshan culture be employed as a design element in tableware design, and that the viability of using tableware as a carrier to express regional culture be explored. The significance of this study will aid in improving the Chaoshan region’s cultural production, boosting cultural confidence, and increasing local revenues.

A Study on the Inheritance Status and Enhancement Path of Chinese Ancient Poetry Art Songs Integrated into Vocal Music Teaching in Contemporary Colleges and Universities

Traditional culture with refined and meaningful words, beautiful verses and rich connotations. As a product of the fusion of East and West, Chinese ancient poetry art songs is a perfect fusion of the profound Chinese poems and Western elegant music creation techniques, which is the continuous development of the excellent traditional Chinese culture. Colleges and universities, as the main channel for the training of high-quality music talents, shoulder the important responsibilities of talent training, cultural inheritance and scientific research. Since the birth of Chinese ancient poetry art songs, there have been high requirements in vocal singing, mood shaping and cultural expression, etc. Therefore, integrating Chinese ancient poetry art songs into vocal teaching in colleges and universities can not only improve the students' vocal singing level and comprehensive cultural literacy, but also enhance the students' cultural self-confidence in learning and singing. However, it is found that the inheritance status of Chinese ancient poetry art songs integrated into vocal music teaching in colleges and universities is not optimistic, and there are problems such as insufficient attention of students, irrational curriculum facilities, lack of attention to the improvement of comprehensive quality, confusing use of teaching materials, and fewer opportunities for students to practise, and so on. Through the analysis of the causes, it is found that there are misunderstandings in the students' cognition, the teaching objectives are not clear enough, the teaching faculty is scarce, and the teaching ability needs to be improved. In view of the above problems, this study proposes that students should be guided to improve their value cognition and set up a correct sense of inheritance; teachers should clarify the teaching objectives and create a reasonable curriculum system; institutions should strengthen the training of teachers and enhance the ability of diversified teaching; institutions should encourage teachers to reasonably prepare teaching materials and provide a scientific teaching basis; and institutions and teachers should also actively develop practical activities and provide sufficient opportunities for exercise.

A Comparison of the English Subtitles of The Wandering Earth Series from the Perspective of Sociological Translation Studies

As a social practice activity affected by many social and cultural factors, the subjective initiative of social roles, accumulated capital and habits will affect the dissemination of translation products. In 1972, Holmes proposed to promote function-oriented descriptive translation research, and explore the phenomenon of translation within the framework of sociology. Sociological translation studies construct a system based on the core three elements of Bourdieu's sociological theorycapital, field, and habit, and explore the different roles played by actors in social practice. The popularity of the 2019 and 2023 Spring Festival movie series The Wandering Earth had aroused peoples attention to Chinese science fiction movies. This movie series is based on the short novel of the same name published in 2000 by Liu Cixin, a new generation of Chinese science fiction novelists. The films were translated into English and released in overseas theaters. This article will take the subtitle translation of the series as the starting point from the perspective of sociological translation studies, take culture and market as the two general directions, and explore the changes and reasons for the subtitle translation of The Wandering Earth I and II. This study finds that the subtitle quality of the Wandering Earth series of movies has improved significantly. The change is mainly related to China's cultural self-confidence, cultural export policy support and market attraction in recent years. The sociological perspective of this study compensates for the theoretical singularity of most subtitle translation studies, and improves the objectivity of the research mechanism, which can promote the diversification of other translation studies. At the same time, it also helps more films improve their own translation quality, achieve a win-win situation of going abroad and achieving commercial value and cultural output.

Study on the Singing Characteristics and Linguistic Features of Zuoquan Blossom Tunes

Intangible cultural heritage is a rare treasure created and preserved by mankind in the course of historical development and practice, a cultural treasure that has survived the test of a thousand years of wind and rain and still contains vigorous vitality, the crystallization of human wisdom, and the lifeblood of the continuity of various ethnic groups. At the same time, it has also left a strong color in the process of human historical development and practice. Shanxi is located in the north of China, has a long history, has many intangible cultural heritage, for example, Jin Opera, Hequ Folk Songs, Yicheng Flower Drums, and Zuoquan Blossom Tune, etc., is known as the "Ocean of Folk Songs". Among them, Hequ "Shanqu'er" and Zuoquan "Blossom Tunes" were both selected as the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage. In this context, the protection and inheritance of intangible cultural heritage has gradually become an important issue in the construction and development of cultural fields in Shanxi Province. Based on this, this paper will explore the singing characteristics and linguistic features of Zuoquan Blossom Tunes under the perspective of intangible cultural heritage, strengthen the protection and utilization of Zuoquan Blossom Tunes of intangible cultural heritage, actively pass on and carry forward the national and regional cultures, and fully excavate and give full play to the profound connotation and multifunctionality of Zuoquan Blossom Tunes of intangible cultural heritage to resolutely carry out the fundamental initiative of defending the cultural sovereignty of the country. In order to directly and effectively enhance the cultural self-confidence of the people and promote the construction and development of cultural reinforcement.

A Cross-Culture Study on Chinese Music in the United States

Since 1979, China has been promoting development strategies such as “outward and inward”, “one belt, one road” and “enhancement of national cultural soft power.” Today, with internationalization and diversification as driving forces, Chinese music has become a primary avenue for China’s “cultural confidence” in foreign lands. Being the country with the highest number of Chinese students studying in the USA as international students, the impact of Chinese music and culture in the American colleges and universities cannot be underestimated. It is noteworthy that in almost all studies exploring the dissemination of music culture in departments of Asian Studies in American institutions of higher learning, Chinese music culture is very broad in scope to include Chinese folk music, regardless of the historic variety that Chinese music encapsulates. The modern Chinese music seemingly disrupts the continuity and lineage of traditional Chinese music history, yet the traditional Chinese music and modern Chinese music indeed belong to the same family. The major differences include contemporary Chinese music genres such as people’s music, professional music, and popular music have been deliberately excluded from the propagation of Chinese music culture in curriculum. Furthermore, few scholars in Chinese academic circles pay attention to these genres at present. Therefore, this paper tries to explore the phenomenon of deliberate erasure of Chinese music culture in the U.S. This paper also intends to study the overseas dissemination of Chinese music in a cross-cultural context, combining the overview and strategies of Chinese music culture dissemination at home and abroad. Last but not least, this paper attempts to construct a unity of the historical and humanistic aspects of Chinese music culture dissemination overseas.

A Study on the Participation of Foreign Students in Local Cultural and Folk Activities in Wenzhou

The number of foreign students studying in Wenzhou, China has increased dramatically as a result of the Belt and Road Initiative. Learning the motivations and leisure constraints of foreign students' participation in local cultural and folk activities in Wenzhou is beneficial to promoting cultural adaptation, strengthening Chinese cultural self-confidence, and improving Wenzhou's international image. Based on the hierarchical model of leisure constraints (personal constraints, interpersonal constraints, and structural constraints), this study has tended to focus on the leisure constraints for foreign students participating in local folk and cultural activities in Wenzhou. A total of seven participants were included in the analysis.

Factors Affecting Purchase Intention of Hanfu: Considering Product Identification, Cultural Motivation, and Perceived Authenticity.

With the trend of national cultural confidence and the growing appreciation for aesthetic diversity, traditional apparel from different countries or regions has become a driving force in the clothing industry. Hanfu, an emerging trend that industrializes traditional culture, has garnered increasing attention from consumers. Thus, with the objective of exploring the psychological antecedents of Hanfu consumers' purchase intentions from the perspectives of product identification, cultural motivation, and consumers' perceived authenticity, the present study was empirically conducted with a sample of 823 respondents. Partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed to examine the proposed research model. The results demonstrate that consumers' identification with Hanfu and cultural motivation positively influence object-based and existential authenticity, as well as purchase intention. Furthermore, the mediating effect of perceived object-based authenticity is confirmed, indicating its significance in shaping consumers' purchase intentions, while the mediating effect of existential authenticity is found to be insignificant. Research findings could contribute to the understanding of the psychological mechanisms driving consumers' purchase intentions towards traditional clothing and highlight the importance of consumers' perceived object-based authenticity in the market of traditional cultural clothing.

Research on the English Translation of Political Texts from the Perspective of Eco-translatology: A Case Study of Government Work Report in 2023

As China’s economy and society develop and its international influence continues to grow, foreign governments and people are paying more attention to China. In this context, foreign publicity work is of great significance for the world to "understand China". As an effective carrier of external publicity work, the political texts translation covers China's current development status, major policies, and strategic plans. Therefore, its importance is self-evident. Based on the ecological translation theory, this study takes the English translation of the 2023 Government Work Report as an example to explore how to interpret China's path and demonstrate cultural confidence in political texts translation, thereby achieving communicative purposes. The study found that translators often use translation strategies such as conversion of parts of speech, extension, and omission to achieve adaptive selection in the three dimensions of language, culture, and communication in order to achieve an ecological balance between the source and the target language culture, thereby enhancing the appeal and credibility of China's discourse in foreign publicity work.

The Meaning, Value, and Realisation of Internet-based Culturally Responsive Teaching

Abstract Culturally responsive teaching is an effective pedagogical orientation and action plan for responding to cultural differences and is characterized by effectiveness, comprehensiveness, empowerment, transformation, and emancipation. To better realize the connotation and value of culturally responsive teaching, this paper applies Internet technology to culturally responsive teaching. Based on the Internet blockchain technology, this paper optimizes the culturally responsive teaching model and evaluates the Internet-based teaching method in three aspects: appropriateness of material selection, cultural diversity, and classroom autonomy. In terms of the appropriateness of teacher selection, students generally rated the teaching method more highly, with an average increase of 11.6 percentage points over the initial rating. Students also rated the Internet-based approach more favorably regarding the cultural diversity of teaching and learning, with an average increase of 15 percentage points. Regarding student autonomy in culturally responsive classrooms, 2.8% more students were very autonomous, 3.6% more students were moderately autonomous, and 1.8 and 2.6 percentage points less autonomous and not autonomous, respectively. Internet-based teaching methods can fully respect the cultural differences of students from different regions and increase cultural interaction in the classroom. Culturally responsive teaching under the Internet is important in strengthening students’ cultural confidence, cultivating their awareness of cultural equality, and enhancing national cultural cohesion.
