CRAFTS IN THE CONTEXT OF PROFESSIONAL TRAINING

Principles of crafts and handicrafts are still relevant. This principles should be used more widely in the professional training system. They who are in handicraft sphere, have scrupulosity, honesty, good knowledge, strong skills. They are not respect «copypaste», the result without efforts or a surrogate diploma. The culture of professional skills arising in the process of accumulation of experience of creative artists, is the basis of crafts and can become a basis for the formation of common cultural competence of students in the course of vocational training.

Análisis de las motivaciones, apoyos y dificultades en formación inicial y permanente que tienen las mujeres en cursos de formación ocupacional

El propósito de este estudio es analizar las creencias, opiniones, experiencias y actitudes de las mujeres españolas en cursos de formación ocupacional respecto a la educación formal inicial, la formación ocupacional y permanente, con la intención de reflejar la concepción de la realidad social de la mujer en los ámbitos educativo y laboral. Para ello se ha aplicado una metodología cualitativa de entrevistas en profundidad, semiestructuradas, individuales y en grupo, a mujeres en cursos de formación ocupacional. También se han realizado entrevistas a personas expertas en igualdad de género. Los resultados indican que la socialización de género tiene un papel determinante en las elecciones académicas y laborales de las mujeres entrevistadas, cuyo desarrollo se ve condicionado por las responsabilidades familiares y de cuidado que tradicionalmente se han asignado a la mujer. Los factores familiares, económicos e individuales son los que más influyen en el abandono de la educación formal. La principal motivación para la formación permanente es el enriquecimiento personal, aunque una vez que se ha formado la familia, la mujer encuentra dificultad de conciliar la vida familiar y el desarrollo profesional. No obstante, las mujeres dejan entrever la posibilidad de un cambio que sería deseable por alcanzar la igualdad de género en los ámbitos de la formación y laboral. Previamente habría que estudiar las necesidades de las mujeres y los factores de éxito de la formación desde una perspectiva de género, considerando factores internos (motivaciones, intereses, etc.) y externos (contextos laboral, familiar, económico, etc.).

Origins of the concept of taste as the basis for forming artistic taste of art students

Implementation of the principles of democracy, humanitarian priorities in the higher vocational education determines profound changes in the formation of artistic taste of contemporary young people. The problem of the formation of art taste and personality is complex, ambiguous and examined by representatives of different sciences. The artistic taste is the focus of aesthetic evaluation criteria of all spheres of human activities, it serves as a basis for establishing the invariant personality-the unique forms of the individuals behavior, thinking and creativity. This article examines the history, state and value of artistic taste in the formation of human personality in the historical and modern science, distinguishes between subjective and objective views on the conditions for the existence and formation of artistic taste, works out a definition of artistic taste at the present stage of society development. The variety of artistic tastes is explained by the unlimited richness of art objects themselves, as well as the constant development of reality and, above all, social reality by the emergence of new conditions of life, development of man and man-made objects. The question of the diversity of artistic tastes finds its solution, first of all, while considering the objectivity of their content; the variety of specific manifestations of beauty accounts for diverse taste preferences. Individual display of artistic taste is valuable in demonstrating the nuances of the qualities of the object and allows one to pass on to others the feeling one experienced. Thus, a foundation is laid for creative evaluating interaction, so the artistic taste serves as an effective means of aesthetic education of art students in the course of vocational training.

Vocational Education Course Taking and Post–High School Employment of Youth With Emotional Disturbances

Data from the National Longitudinal Transition Study–2 (NLTS2) were used to examine the patterns of career and technical education (CTE) course taking in high school by students receiving special education services for emotional disturbances (ED). Descriptive analyses indicate the extent of such course taking by students with ED and their engagement in a concentrated program of occupationally specific general education CTE, a level of CTE course taking that early research has linked to improved post–high school employment outcomes. Propensity scoring methods were used to determine the extent to which either type of CTE course taking was related to higher odds of full-time employment after high school and whether results differed with the length of time post high school. There was a significant positive effect for participating in a concentration of occupationally specific CTE in the first 2 post–high school years, but effects were non-significant for later years. Results showed no benefits of CTE course taking overall. The implications for high school programming and transition planning are discussed.

Understanding participants’ motivation and willingness to pay for joining ecotourism training courses in Hong Kong

ABSTRACTEcotourism has developed rapidly in recent decades. Many ecotourism-related vocational training has been organized to train and prepare qualified personnel for this special tourism industry niche. This paper investigates participants’ motivations to enroll in ecotourism vocational training courses in Hong Kong. The results of the study indicated that three motivational factors, namely, career facilitation, knowledge enhancement and social interaction, motivated participants to enroll in ecotourism vocational training courses. The training participants indicated that knowledge enhancement and career facilitation were the most and the least important motives, respectively. This result indicated a significant difference from the motivations of other vocational training participants. In addition, the findings revealed that social interaction was also a vital motive for the participants and has been seldom identified in previous studies. This study's findings offer important information for ecotourism vocational training organizers as they re-design training course content and fine tune their marketing strategies to attract potential participants.

TO THE PROBLEM OF FORMATION OF PEDAGOGICAL COMPETENCE IN PROFESSIONAL PREPARATION OF MATHEMATIANS

This article presents the approach to formation of pedagogical competences of mathematicians in the course of vocational training on the basis of realization of through trajectories of professional and pedagogical preparation (the bachelor + the master) in conditions of a two-level system of higher education. In accordance with the Federal State Educational Standards of higher education bachelor of mathematics in directions 01.03.01 "Mathematics", 02.03.01 "Mathematics and Computer Science" pedagogical practice is highlighted as one of the professional activities of graduates who have mastered the undergraduate program. That university graduates always form the basis of the body of teachers of mathematics and computer science both a secondary and higher education institutions. However, due to problematic features of the educational standards of bachelor of mathematics training emphasis shifts toward a general theoretical pedagogical training and towards the formation of the basic components of vocational training. Lack of training time does not allow graduates to get the necessary experience with pedagogical knowledge, so psychological and pedagogical unit does not complete with obtaining of the teacher qualification. In order to solve the existing problem, we propose the formation of professional pedagogical competence in modern mathematical and pedagogical master's programs, completing vocational teacher training of mathematicians. This approach provides a pass-through trajectory of vocational teacher training scheme Bachelor + Master in a two-level structure of higher education, the effectiveness of which is confirmed by experience in implementing mathematical and pedagogical master's programs "Information Technology in Education" and "Teaching Mathematics and Computer Science" at the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of Kuban State University. The article reveals the basic structural components of the submitted master's programs, the experience of their implementation.

Формування комунікативної компетентності студентів – майбутніх соціологів як можливості підвищення якості інтерв'ювання

Errors in the sociological forecasting often enough to overcome the problems associated with the unavailability of the respondents, and, accordingly, a lack of communicative competence of interviewers. So, for three years with students MDPU n. B. Khmelnytsky conducted a study in which identified actions of the teacher on formation at the future sociologists communicative component of professional practice and developed criteria for its evaluation. As a tool designed «Sociolinguistic method of determining the communicative competence» to optimize the training of interviewers on a specific topic of research. The study, conducted by the authors showed that the criteria for participation in the study must comply with the minimum level of «adequate, but need to further develop knowledge and skills in professional and everyday communication». The results of research show that the communicative competence of the future sociologists formed and developed in the course of vocational training and is acquired abilities, skills and potential of personal communicative potential in the working process and everyday communication. In the context of the requirements for the formation of future sociologists general professional competence of teachers of action should be aimed at the mastery of the communicative competence of the students, which reflects the level of Maturity of sociological thinking and relevant professional conceptual apparatus.

SUBJECTIVE CRITERIA OF SELF-ACTIVITY CONTROL OF THE RUSSIAN AND SLOVENIAN MANAGERS: COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE

Aim . The results of the first stage of the Russian-Slovenian crosscultural research are provided in the present article; the purpose is identification of the key factors that have an impact on the choice of control criteria of a management activity by the Russian and Slovenian leaders. Methods . Empirical information acquisition was made on the basis of the questionnaire «Subjective criteria of monitoring of activities performance» by G. Miroljubova and F. Ismagilova. The correlation analysis using nonparametric criteria (Kendall’s tau-b and Spearman’s rho), Mann – Whitney U-test and a method of descriptive statistics were used to process the received results of the research. Calculation of data was performed by means of a software package SPSS Statistics 17,0. Results . The research unit which is stated in the publication has comparative character and includes three stages. The difference of managers’ positions in Russia and Slovenia concerning self-checking of managerial activities was studied at the first stage. When researching the Russian managerial activity, listeners and graduates of the Presidential program of preparation of a managerial personnel provided by the Business School of the Ural State Federal University named after B. N. Yeltsin (Ekaterinburg) were engaged. The research has showed that both groups of measurable and weakly-measurable parameters are equally presented in the structure of subjective control criteria among managers. The significant differences are revealed between average values of the measured criteria of all types (natural, binary, criteria of a ratio and fitting) in the Russian (56,11) and Slovenian (60,39) samples. Scientific novelty . Activities control is a capability of a person to influence on the process and result of own work that is an extremely important aspect of professional competence of leading experts and managers. This aspect should be considered in programs of managerial professional training; unfortunately, it is poorly considered when training the Russian managers. The research confirmed and expanded theoretical theses on national cultural differences in managerial processes of work evaluation efficiency. Practical significance. The proposed diagnostic model which has confirmed its practical consistency, and the questionnaire developed on its basis can be considered as working tools for monitoring of the content of activity and measurement of indicators of its control among managers of various organizations. The results of diagnostics can serve as the material for correction of educational programs for training of managers in higher educational institutions, and the academic content of further vocational training courses.

Impact of Training Course on Knowledge Gain of Mushroom Trainees

Eighty five trainees were imparted training on mushroom cultivation by conducting two vocational training courses. In order to evaluate these training prgrammes, present study was undertaken to find out knowledge gain by the participants and suggestions from the trainees in order to bring improvement in the coming training courses. It was found that majority of respondents joined the training course to adopt mushroom cultivation as an occupation and only 10.5 percent joined training course just to get certificate of training. Maximum gain in knowledge (94.1% and 92.9%) was observed for diseases of mushrooms, its prevention and variety of mushrooms, respectively. More emphasis on practical classes, supplying of printed material and wide publicity were three suggestions given by the participants for bringing improvement in future programmes.

Thực trạng lao động nông thôn, ảnh hưởng của đào tạo nghề, việc làm và thu nhập của lao động tỉnh Vĩnh Long

Research on “The situation of rural labors, the impact of vocational training, employment, and income of rural laborers in Vinh Long province” was conducted to find out: (1) The situation of labor, vocational training, employment and income, (2) The impact of vocational training, (3) Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of vocational training and employment, (4) Solution for improving the quality of vocational training, creating employment and enhancing income. The research was conducted through the group discussion and interview of 180 households. Descriptive statistics, cross tabulation, linear regression and SWOT matrix were used in the research. The research findings were concluded that (1) the labor was abundant, educational level was limited, the awareness of labor towards vocational training was good, the demand of vocational training has been increasing in Vinh Long province. However, the ability of co-operation between the organizations of vocational training, business and the trainees was still limited; (2) the factors affected to the household income such as the number of times participating in the vocational training, time training and the linkage after training; (3) the vocational training faced difficulties as lacking in equipment and the laborers did not have free time to participate in the vocational training courses.

Features of career orientations of students of different specialties in the course of vocational training

The article describes the features of the development of career orientations of students of different specialties. Diagnostics of the development of the phenomenon under study by means of a complex of diagnostic methods. Particular attention is given to studying the motives for choosing future profession, determine the entire course of development of career orientations during vocational training. It was determined that career orientations of students are often amorphous, disordered, does not act on a stimulus work in the period of study in higher education.

Vocational Rehabilitation of Mild Mentally Challenged Adults

Vocational Rehabilitation is the part of continuous and coordinated process of rehabilitation which involves the guidance, vocational training and selective placement designed to enable a differently abled person to secure and retain suitable employment. The present study analyzes impact of vocational training in the competencies of mild mentally challenged adults. The sample for the study consists of 8 mild mentally challenged adults between the age of 18 -30 years. An individualized vocational curriculum is developed and the vocational training courses provided training in computer, stitching, embroidery, office assistance and identity card making. Pre test-post test design has been used in order to understand the influence of intervention. For this purpose Behavioral Assessment Scales for Adult Living – Mental Retardation (BASAL –MR) and Personal data sheet has been used. The results indicate that vocational training has great impact in developing competencies of mild mentally challenged.

FINANCIAL SUPPORT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROGRAMS: PRACTICE OF IMPLEMENTATION IN THE REGION AND POSSIBILITIES OF ITS STUDY IN THE PROCESS OF PROFESSIONAL ENVIRONMENTAL TRAINING

Aim. The aim is to consider the structure and practice of funding environmental projects, its implementation in the region as well as the prospects for studying the characteristics of financial support for environmental programs in the course of vocational environmental training in regional universities. Methodology. We propose the method of quantitative research for statistical documents and the method of qualitative analysis that can be used to clarify the structure of environmental financing in the regions. Results. We identified the basic quantitative parameters and made a structure of financing the regional environmental programs. The analysis showed that this structure includes the federal budget, the budget of the Russian Federation, local budgets, extra-budgetary sources. Thus, the example of the Tambov region illustrates that the main financial burden is on the enterprises, and local governments involved in such financing make up the minority. It is proved that the study of the peculiarities of financing the regional environmental programs is important for students of different specialties. We propose a list of didactic units and issues to be included in the content of professional environmental training. Main conclusions. We recommend using the structure of funding the regional ecological projects analyzed on the example of the Tambov region for other regions of Russia as well. At the same time, putting into practice the basic principles of sustainable development, it is necessary to ensure the inclusion of the study of the characteristics and structure of the financing regional environmental programs as didactic units in the process of professional environmental training.

Applying Culturally Responsive Pedagogy to the Vocational Training of Immigrants

Training and learning are the personal process in which individuals interact with social and cultural contexts. Immigrant trainees bring their early educational and life experiences into training classrooms, and their learning is strongly affected by their prior socialization and socio-cultural experiences. Therefore, it is necessary to provide immigrant trainees with vocational training programs in culturally responsive ways. That being said, the aim of this paper is to address the principles of culturally responsive pedagogy in adult education and their implications for vocational training of immigrants. The main implications of culturally responsive pedagogy in adult education for vocational training of immigrants are that vocational training instructors should have cultural self-awareness and reflection on their training practices as well as design and implement the culturally relevant vocational training programs, including integrating vocational training courses with knowledge and skills of immigrant trainees, affirming the cultural differences of immigrant trainees, developing learning communities, taking into account prior educational and work experiences of immigrant trainees, and utilizing multiple training methods and activities.

The role of classroom characteristics for students’ motivation and career exploration

This study focused on students enrolled in obligatory vocational education courses in German secondary schools that aim to support students’ career exploration. The study examined the relations between student-perceived classroom characteristics (support for autonomy, competence and relatedness), students’ intrinsic motivation and their career exploration (self- and environmental exploration). Data were analysed from 1780 seventh- to tenth-graders (boys: 54.2%) from 13 German secondary schools. The structural equation modelling results revealed that student-perceived support for autonomy, competence and relatedness in class was significantly positively related to their intrinsic motivation and self-exploration. Student-perceived support for competence was significantly positively related to environment exploration. Student-perceived relatedness in class was significantly positively related to their achievement. Intrinsic motivation was significantly positively related to self- and environment exploration and achievement. The results showed that the paths within the tested model varied for boys and girls. Findings are discussed in relation to their implications for career preparation in school, as well as related to gendered motivational processes.

Selektivität beim Zugang zu Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen. Die Bedeutung individueller und struktureller Determinanten am Beispiel der "Initiative zur Flankierung des Strukturwandels„

Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit Selektivität beim Zugang in Maßnahmen beruflicher Weiterbildung. Im Rahmen eines Sonderprogramms fördert die Bundesagentur für Arbeit Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen für gering qualifizierte Arbeitslose. Wir untersuchen, welche Determinanten den Zugang in diese Weiterbildungsmaßnahmen systematisch beeinflussen. Dazu verwenden wir Daten einer standardisierten Telefonbefragung unter geförderten Personen und einer Vergleichsgruppe sowie administrative Daten. Empirisch zeigt sich dabei, dass eher die "Besseren unter den Förderfähigen„ in die Maßnahmen gelangen. So weisen Personen mit längeren durchschnittlichen Verweildauern in Beschäftigung und längeren kumulierten Dauern von ALG-I-Bezug höhere Teilnahmewahrscheinlichkeiten auf, solche mit längeren Bezugsdauern von ALG II niedrigere. Auch bestimmte Kompetenzindikatoren spielen eine Rolle: Fähigkeiten im Umgang mit Computern ("computer literacy„) und gutes Textverständnis beeinflussen die Teilnahmewahrscheinlichkeit positiv, externale Kontrollüberzeugungen hingegen negativ. Insgesamt deuten die Ergebnisse auf eine Selektion eher "guter Risiken„ in das Programm hin.

O USO DO GEOGEBRA NO ENSINO DE TRIGONOMETRIA: UMA EXPERIÊNCIA COM ALUNOS DO ENSINO MÉDIO

http://dx.doi.org/10.5902/2179460X14503This research analyzes if the work with GeoGebra facilitates learning concepts of trigonometry and knowing the perceptions of students about the use of GeoGebra in teaching trigonometry. For this, it makes use of application of assessments and interviews with the students of courses of IFRN. Data analysis shows that, with the use of GeoGebra, students showed more significant learning of several aspects of the behavior of the sine and cosine functions when compared with teaching through lectures with the use of teaching resources more common as book and whiteboard. The students themselves recognized that the use of this software is able to help you better understand the aspects of the behavior of these functions, highlighting the ease of use of GeoGebra and the importance of its use in teaching mathematics. However, for the current and future teachers feel able to work with GeoGebra or any other software, it is essential that the vocational training courses for teachers to develop strategies that ensure effectively the ability to use these tools, the critically and creatively way, and not just another fad that will in no way help improve the teacher’s work and the student’s learning.

The German dual vocational education and training system as ‘good practice’?

The German Dual System has attracted some considerable attention in recent years, with a number of countries, above all in Southern Europe, trying to introduce similar concepts of structured apprenticeships leading to initial vocational qualifications. Quite manifestly, there is expectation among politicians in particular that such a system might help cope with integration problems of school leavers into the vocational education and training sector and support combating youth unemployment. Focusing on the two ‘learning venues’, however, seems short-sighted as the German vocational education and training system has more working principles than just the dual learning setting. In contrast to the British approach, the German system trusts in a clear orientation of workplace learning along the lines of an ‘occupation’ (Beruf). Besides, the German vocational education and training system as a whole is more complex than it seems, with a still weighty ‘transition system’ and full-time courses in vocational education and training alongside apprenticeships. My argument is that the aspect of ‘good practice’ has to be relativised both against the background of these structural issues and in the face of recent academic drift in the German education system.

Chronicle of a novice researcher: the challenges and rewards

This article reports on the experiences of a novice researcher undertaking a National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) scholarship programme. A summary of the research is provided, which involved a survey of international students completing vocational education and training (VET) courses in Tasmania. Whilst many students reported having local friends and being involved in social and community groups, some students did not feel welcomed by the broader community. The research suggested that community engagement could be enhanced by VET providers making students aware of low or no-cost social activities available to them and providing links to groups such as sporting clubs. The author reflects on the challenges and rewards of carrying out educational research and the impact on his own professional practice in the international education sector. The benefits to his organisation and education sector are considered; it is concluded that research is an excellent form of professional learning.

Risk factors for work-related stress and subjective hardship in health-care staff in nursing homes for the elderly: A cross-sectional study.

This study aimed to explore potential risk factors for work-related stress by, detailing working conditions and subjective hardship according to occupational category in health-care staff working with elderly patients. A cross-sectional descriptive survey was conducted in 105 nursing homes for the elderly in France. Data on nursing home working conditions were collected by occupational physicians. The study population was limited to those in direct contact with the elderly, who were divided into 3 occupational groups defined by qualifications and tasks: housekeepers (HKs), nursing assistants (NAs) and nurses (Ns). Employees answered a questionnaire on their perceived working conditions and vocational training courses. Psychosocial stress was assessed with the Siegrist questionnaire. The subjects included 706 HKs, 1,565 NAs and 378 Ns, and the findings showed confusion of tasks and responsibilities in the study population. Verbal abuse by residents was reported by 60.9% of HKs (versus 76.2% of NAs and 76.7% of Ns, p<0.001). Physical attack by residents was more frequently reported by NAs (59.1%) than Ns (52.8%) or HKs (38.0%) (p<0.001). Nearly 10% of employees reported clear effort/reward imbalance (10.4% of NAs, 9.2% of Ns and 7.0% of HKs, p=0.059). Great hardship related to proximity to death was reported by 40.5% of HKs (versus 37.3% of NAs and 22.6% of Ns; p<0.001). To prevent stress related to insufficient ability, nursing home workers should be encouraged to attend job training courses, which should cover knowledge of the specific care needs of elderly patients and of the authority/responsibility required to do their job.
