Overall survival analyses of female malignancies in Southern Brazil during 2008-2017: A closer look at breast, cervical and ovarian cancer.

The aim of this study was to report the overall survival and baseline factors associated with OS for breast, cervical and ovarian cancer in Florianópolis, Southern Brazil, a region with quality-of-life indicators comparable to high-income countries. Cohort study was performed from probabilistic record linkage of the Mortality Information System and the Population-based cancer registry of Florianópolis. It was included breasts, cervical and ovarian cancer diagnosis during the period of 2008-2012 with a follow up of 60 months. Cox regression and Kaplan-Meier method were used for associations with overall survival and risk factors. 1857 cases of the three malignancies were included in the analysis. We identified 202 deaths in breast cancer subjects, 53 for cervical cancer and 51 for ovarian cancer. Metastatic disease at diagnosis was present in 31%, 9.6%, and 55% of the cases, respectively. Overall survival was statistically correlated with age, educational level and stage for breast cancer; age and stage for cervical cancer; age and stage for ovarian cancer. Metastatic disease and age are the main prognostic factors for the malignancies studied, as they were associated with both overall survival and risk of death. Better screening and preventive tests for early diagnosis are needed. The Influence Between C-C Chemokine Receptor 5 Genetic Polymorphisms and the Type-1 Human Immunodeficiency Virus: A 20-Year Review.

Acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) is an infectious disease caused by the types 1 and 2 human immunodeficiency virus (HIV-1 and HIV-2). Clinical outcomes in patients are highly varied and delineated by complex interactions between virus, host, and environment, such as with help of co-receptors, for example, the C-C chemokine receptor 5 (CCR5). This work aimed to describe the scientific evidence relating the influence of CCR5 polymorphisms in association studies for HIV-1 disease susceptibility, severity, and transmissibility. This is a systematic review of the literature on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and the deletion [Insertion and Deletion (Indel)] Δ32 of CCR5. The search for articles was based on the ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) databases for the period between 2001 and 2021. The final sample consisted of 32 articles. †SNP rs1799987 is one of the genetic polymorphisms most associated with the criteria of susceptibility and severity of HIV-1, having distinct consequences in genotypic, allelic, and clinical analysis in the variability of investigated populations. As for the transmission character of the disease, the G mutant allele of rs1799987 corresponds to the highest positive association. ‡Furthermore, the results on Indel Δ32 corroborate the absence and rarity of this variant in some populations. Finally, mitigating the severity of cases, SNPs rs1799988 and rs1800023 obtained significant attribution in individuals in the studied populations. It is shown that the reported polymorphisms express significant influences for the evaluation of diagnostic, therapeutic, and prophylactic measures for HIV-1 having fundamental particularities in the molecular, genetic, and transcriptional aspects of CCR5.

La Contribución de la Formación Continua en la (re)construcción de los Saberes Docentes

Continuing teacher education has been the scene of many discussions in the Brazilian context. However, when it is related to the construction and reconstruction of teachers' knowledge, it is necessary to think about deepening its importance in the sense of the personal and professional constitution of teachers. The motivating question of this study refers to how teaching knowledge is presented in the context of continuing education in Brazilian studies existing in the scope of theses and dissertations found in the repository of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior - CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) with a time delimitation of 2017-2020. The methodology is qualitative with a descriptive bibliographic approach. From a total of three theses and nine dissertations analyzed, five of them explicitly refer that continuing education contributed to the construction and reconstruction of teaching knowledge.

Primary healthcare protects vulnerable populations from inequity in COVID-19 vaccination: An ecological analysis of nationwide data from Brazil

BackgroundThere is limited information on the inequity of access to vaccination in low-and-middle-income countries during the COVID-19 pandemic. Here, we described the progression of the Brazilian immunisation program for COVID-19, and the association of socioeconomic development with vaccination rates, considering the potential protective effect of primary health care coverage.MethodsWe performed an ecological analysis of COVID-19 immunisation data from the Brazilian National Immunization Program from January 17 to August 31, 2021. We analysed the dynamics of vaccine coverage in the adult population of 5,570 Brazilian municipalities. We estimated the association of human development index (HDI) levels (low, medium, and high) with age-sex standardised first dose coverage using a multivariable negative binomial regression model. We evaluated the interaction between the HDI and primary health care coverage. Finally, we compared the adjusted monthly progression of vaccination rates, hospital admission and in-hospital death rates among HDI levels.FindingsFrom January 17 to August 31, 2021, 202,427,355 COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered in Brazil. By the end of the period, 64·2% of adults had first and 31·4% second doses, with more than 90% of those aged ≥60 years with primary scheme completed. Four distinct vaccine platforms were used in the country, ChAdOx1-S/nCoV-19, Sinovac-CoronaVac, BNT162b2, Ad26.COV2.S, composing 44·8%, 33·2%, 19·6%, and 2·4% of total doses, respectively. First dose coverage differed between municipalities with high, medium, and low HDI (Median [interquartile range] 72 [66, 79], 68 [61, 75] and 63 [55, 70] doses per 100 people, respectively). Municipalities with low (Rate Ratio [RR, 95% confidence interval]: 0·87 [0·85-0·88]) and medium (RR [95% CI]: 0·94 [0·93-0·95]) development were independently associated with lower vaccination rates compared to those with high HDI. Primary health care coverage modified the association of HDI and vaccination rate, improving vaccination rates in those municipalities of low HDI and high primary health care coverage. Low HDI municipalities presented a delayed decrease in adjusted in-hospital death rates by first dose coverage compared to high HDI locations.InterpretationIn Brazil, socioeconomic disparities negatively impacted the first dose vaccination rate. Professional Master’s Program in Biotechnology and Innovation Management: The Triple Helix in movement and knowledge generation

This paper analyses evidence of innovation in the joint work of a company, a university and government in creating a professional Master’s degree program in Biotechnology and Innovation Management at the Centro Universitário de Sete Lagoas, Minas Gerais, Brazil. It presents a new perspective by combining two fields of knowledge: biotechnology and innovation management. The conceptual scheme of Triple Helix spaces is still not well analyzed from an empirical viewpoint. This paper identifies the development of knowledge, consensus and innovation spaces through an examination of this professional Master’s course. A qualitative approach was used for the conducting of 20 semi-structured interviews with representatives of the Triple Helix: two directors of Embrapa, a Brazilian agriculture and livestock research company; the President of FAPEMIG, the Minas Gerais Research Support Foundation; nine teachers; and eight students. In addition, data were analyzed from the databases of CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel). The results show that the proximity between the knowledge areas of biotechnology and innovation management strengthened this new program, created only 7 years ago, which has already impacted socio-economic regional development.

Students’ experiences with graduate education in Brazil A confirmatory Factor Analysis Approach

Assessing graduate student education is a complex task. After all, graduate education is the result of a complex process involving course experiences, teaching, engagement in learning, mastery of skills, the ability to work with others and satisfaction with what is learned. This paper reports the results of a study seeking to document underlying dimensions of student experiences with their graduate education programs in Brazil. Confirmatory factor analysis reveals that student experiences with graduate education underscore three interrelated constructs: Engagement in learning, Collaborative Learning, and Intellectual Growth. The survey instrument that informed this study can contribute to the self-assessment of Graduate Programs in Education by accreditation agencies as the Brazilian’s Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Assessing graduate student instruction is a complex task. After all, graduate education is the result of an intricate exercise involving course experiences, teaching, learning engagement, skill-building, collaboration, and learning satisfaction. This article presents the results of a study seeking to assist in the assessment of graduate education in Brazil through a survey about graduate education experiences. A confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), performed on 462 graduate students of various master’s and doctoral programs from six Brazilian universities, indicates that student experiences with graduate education underscore three interrelated processes: Engagement in Learning, Collaborative Learning, and Intellectual Growth. The survey that informs this study can contribute to the self-assessment of graduate programs in Education at different faculties and universities, while also facilitating regular graduate education assessment by accreditation agencies such as the Brazilian’s Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES).

Factors Associated With Regular Consumption of In Natura Foods and Soft Drinks, and Their Influence on Self-Rated Health Among Brazilian Adults

ObjectivesTo analyze evolution and determinants of regular consumption (≥5 days per week) of in natura foods (beans, fruits and vegetables) and soft drinks, and their association with self-rated health (SRH; not poor or poor) among Brazilian adults (≥18 years old) during the period 2006–2019. MethodsObservational cross-sectional study, using 14 editions of nationally representative population-based survey conducted by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, VIGITEL. Individuals living in Brazilian state capitals (n = 684,665) were randomly selected and interviewed using structured questionnaire by telephone. Descriptive analysis and multivariate logistic regression models were estimated to identify factors associated with regular consumption of in natura foods and soft drinks, and poor SRH. ResultsThere was increasing trends for regular consumption of beans (62.62% [95%CI 58.71–66.37] p = 0.000) and fruits (58.66% [95%CI 56.76–60.54] p = 0.000), whilst consumption of vegetables (49.23% [95%CI 45.41–53.06] p = 0.000) and soft drinks (21.62% [95%CI 18.87–24.64] p = 0. 000) decreased during the period, as well as the proportion of individuals assessing poor SRH (4.69% [95%CI 4.44–4.95] p = 0.053). The regular consumption of in natura foods (beans OR = 0.844; vegetables OR = 0.755; fruits OR = 0.745) represented protective factors, and regular consumption of soft drinks (OR = 1.325) represented risk factor for poor SRH. Demographic and lifestyle factors associated with regular consumption of food varieties differed moderately among Brazilian adults who assess poor SRH, compared with the overall Brazilian adult population. ConclusionsEvidence suggests that regular consumption of in natura foods and soft drinks have influence on subjective health perceptions, like SRH, and are influenced by modifiable lifestyle factors and sociodemographic factors, which represent potential targets for preventive public policy intervention that can improve the health status of the Brazilian adult population. Correlation between maximal aerobic power and longitudinal vital signals during high-intensity activities of daily living

Maximum aerobic power (measured by the maximal oxygen uptake, VO2max) obtained during cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is an index of cardiovascular health and represents the maximum ability of the aerobic system to supply energy. Moreover, it is known that high-intensity activities of daily living (hiADL) are associated with higher VO2max, and were three times more beneficial than low-intensity activities, such as light walking. However, little is known about the physiological responses during these hiADL that are associated with better health outcomes. So far, only the levels and intensities of the physical activities have been investigated, but the physiological responses at these activities remain unclear. Purpose Verify the associations between VO2max and longitudinal vital signals from wearables during hiADL. Methods 43 volunteers (32 males, 39.91±15.87 years; 75.41±13.12 kg; 173.67±9.04 cm) with different levels of VO2max (31.08±8.73 ml/kg/min) wore a wearable device (smart t-shirt, Hexoskin) with embedded cardiac, respiratory, and movement sensors to collect unobtrusive data for 7 days (9.31±1.36 hours per day). These sensors continuously measure heart rate (HR), breathing rate (BR), minute ventilation (VE), tidal volume (Vt), hip acceleration (ACC), and walking cadence (Cad). The hiADL were classified based on the Cad response where values higher than 124 steps per minute were labelled as hiADL. At hiADL, the average response for all variables was calculated. Finally, the Pearson or Spearman correlations were computed considering a statistical significance level of 5%. Results hiADL corresponded to just 1% of the physical activities (or 35.11±43.30 minutes per week). The average response of the vital signals at hiADL were: HR (118.2±20.36 bpm), BR (30.7±8.0 rpm), VE (52.21±35.54l), Vt (1.63±0.71 l/min), Acc (0.87±0.6g), and Cad (143.69±10.13). The correlations were statistically (p<0.05) high and positive between VO2max and BR, VE, Vt, and Cad; also, moderate, and positive between VO2max and HR and with the percentage of the time spent at hiADL, as described in figure 1. Conclusion The VO2max (or cardiovascular health) is related to the time spent in hiADL and with the hemodynamic and respiratory response magnitudes at these high-intensity activities.

Área de ensino: reflexões a partir da teoria dos campos de Pierre Bourdieu

Abstract Pierre Bourdieu’s theoretical contributions pave the way for studying a wide range of social spaces, such as the academia. Through using Bourdieusian fields, our objective was to investigate whether the teaching area of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) can be considered a relatively autonomous scientific field. Therefore, this study is motivated by two research questions: 1) what is the distribution of scientific capital in the teaching area; and 2) what are the implications of this distribution on its constitution as a scientific field. By crossing data on professors of programs in the field of education with the evaluation grade assigned by Capes to each of these programs, our analysis revealed that this area does not constitute a scientific field. Differently from what happens in well-established fields, most teaching advisors come from many different scientific backgrounds and do not recognize this field’s specific intellectual production as scientific capital. Assuming that the existing disputes between professors with less and more scientific capital can generate new conformations in the area, a possible structure could be a stabilization of the subgroup of professors with greater scientific capital and its constitution as a scientific field, whose agents become increasingly aware that their cognitive structure and ideals of education/research are different from what Capes intended to homogenize with the creation of a teaching area. We believe that our results can be a reference for critical reflection on the structure of the field of teaching, which is still driven by its agents.

Teacher education towards educational inclusion from the perspective of master’s and doctoral research

ABSTRACT Inclusive education requires teacher education initiatives that enable pedagogical practices committed to students’ singularities. This article aims to systematize contributions to teacher education towards educational inclusion provided by research conducted at the master’s and doctoral levels in Education. We selected studies published from 2016 to 2019 in the Catalogue of Theses and Dissertations maintained by the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), and we used the following descriptors: “inclusão escolar” (educational inclusion), “formação docente” (teacher education), “Ensino Fundamental” (elementary and middle school). With regard to our theoretical foundations, our study builds on the work of authors such as Campos (2009), Marques et al. (2020), Nóvoa (1999, 2017, 2019) and Zwierewicz et al. (2020). Methodologically, it is based on bibliographic review with a qualitative approach. Results show that teacher education is one of the pillars to build educational inclusion; creativity and collaborative work are critical; teachers’ work environment should allow them to re-signify reality as they re-signify themselves, mobilized by reflections on their own pedagogical practices and by recognition for initiatives committed to educational inclusion principles.

Aerobic exercise training prevents skeletal myopathy by myomiRs regulation in heart failure

Abstract Introduction Heart failure (HF) is the endpoint of systemic arterial hypertension. Exercise intolerance is a common symptom, partly due, to changes in the skeletal muscle mass (SM) and fiber type profile. Otherwise, aerobic exercise training (ET) has been used as an important non-pharmacological therapy in HF. MyomiRs are a muscle-specific class of miRNAs, which regulate genes that inhibiting the expression of proteins in pathological and physiological conditions controlling phenotypic changes in the SM, however little is known about these changes in ET-induced HF Purpose To elucidate the molecular mechanisms of ET involved in the metabolic alterations of SM in HF rats of hypertensive etiology. Methods The study was approved by the animal ethics committee (USP-No. 2020/01). 20 male rats, spontaneously hypertensive (SHR), and 10 Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY), SHR controls, nine-months-old, were divided into three groups: sedentary WKY (WKY-S), sedentary SHR (SHR-S), and trained (SHR-T). The ET consisted of swimming sessions with 60 minutes, 1x/day, 5x/week, for 10 weeks, with 5% of body overload. After ET protocol, blood pressure (BP), cardiac morphology and function (Echocardiography), exercise tolerance test, maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 peak), mitochondrial oxygen consumption (Oroboros), immunohistochemistry of the SM, expression of miRNAs (RT-qPCR) were evaluated. Statistical analyzes were performed by one-way ANOVA followed by the Tukey test. The results were expressed as mean ± standard error. Results ET reduced blood pressure levels and cardiac dysfunction in SHR-T compared to SHR-S. The SHR-S group covered smaller distance in the exercise tolerance test (255±22 meters) compared to the WKY-S (419±19 meters, p<0.0001), however ET reestablished the exercise tolerance (SHR-T: 365±20 meters; SHR-S: p<0.001 and WKY-S: p>0.05). The HF induced changes in type I and II fibers composition (I: 73±0.6% and II: 24±0.9%), VO2 peak (50±1.5 mL kg–1 min–1), mitochondrial oxygen consumption (State 3: 3.0±0.2 nmol O2 min–1 mg protein–1) and myomiRs expression (miRNA-208b: 65±4%, -499: 73±5%, -1: 153±10%) in the soleus muscle of SHR-S compared to WKY-S (I: 94±0.6%, II: 6±0.6%, p<0.001; VO2 peak: 59±2.3 mL kg–1 min–1, p<0.01; State 3: 4.0±0.2 nmol O2 min–1 mg protein–1, p<0.05; miRNAs: p<0.01). ET minimized changes in metabolic profile by counteract the muscle fiber type switching, and the oxygen consumption impairment, and myomiRs expression dysregulation (I: 90±0.5%, II: 9±0.6%, SHR-S p<0.01; VO2 peak: 79±2.4 mL kg–1 min–1, SHR-S: p<0.0001; State 3: 5.45±0.32 nmol O2 min–1 mg protein–1, SHR-S: p<0.0001; miRNA-208b: 91±5%, -499: 106±8%, -1: 100±9%; SHR-S: p<0.01). Conclusions ET reestablished structural and metabolic changes in SM, resulting from the progression of HF, through the regulation of myomiRs, improving exercise tolerance. Correlation of the english language proficiency of brazilian chemistry researchers with their scientific publications

English is the most used language for publishing scientific studies, which can be an obstacle for non-fluent researchers. This paper analyzed the self-assesments (speaking, reading, listening and writing in English) in curricula of researchers working in Postgraduate Programs in Chemistry stricto sensu in Brazil. Information on the researchers' scientific production was obtained from the Lattes Platform. A total of 24 programs were evaluated with grade 4 from Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), 10 with grade 7 and 337 researchers. Most consider themselves to have a good command of English, with the best assessment for reading. Researchers were characterized as fluent/non-fluent based on their evaluations for reading and writing. Articles in English were published, mostly, by those who read/write fluently. These researchers have the highest averages in relation to citations and h-index.

Bibliometric analysis of Organisational Behaviour

This study aims to investigate the theoretical contributions on organisational behaviour and meritocracy. The methodology used involved exploratory analysis, based on bibliometric research. The data were extracted from the Scopus and Web of Science journal databases, accessed through the journals portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and through the restricted access of the Federated Academic Community (Café) of the Instituto Federal Goiano (IF Goiano). The result obtained indicated the combination of the search terms, "organisational behaviour and merit". (Scopus and Web of Science). It was used as technical support, a set of open source solutions, R software, with techniques for filtering duplicate and non-pertinent publications, totaling 63 articles, ranging from the years 2015 to June 2021. It is clear that there is a concentration of terms reporting on public educational organisations, which focus on issues about performance and the positive effects of human behaviour. Finally, it was identified that the term merit is closer to contexts involving perspectives, gender, and market, while meritocracy subsidizes studies that address organisational social inequality and human resource management.

The blockchain impacts in accounting auditing / Os impactos da cadeia de bloqueios na auditoria contábil

This paper aims to identify the main impacts of Blockchain as accounting audit as well the advantages and disadvantages facing future challenges to auditing. The methodology used was basic qualitative research, and review topics with exploratory aims, such as technical procedures. The data collection was in CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel) and ICAEW (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) websites and the data analysis and interpretation consisted in classifying and deducting. It was identified that Blockchain is little related to accounting auditing. Results show that the number of financial institutions and organizations that invest in Blockchain is rising, considering that it is related to a distributed ledger that provides a major transparency in the financial transactions of the organizations, which suggests that in the very near future financial institutions and organizations will use Blockchain to interact with each other and in this context internal and external auditing might be continuous, having in mind that in Blockchain financial transactions are available in real time for the auditors and available to auditing. In addition, the distributed ledger enables auditors to access information in new formats, and consequently changes in work roles will occur. In this way, corporative reports will have more consistent and reliable information. However, many countries do not know how to regulate Blockchain or do not offer any legal environment to it.

Identification of the main elements that constitute the professionality of the school pedagogical coordination

In order to investigate and identify what the scientific productions reveal about the professionality of school pedagogical coordination, this study through the methodological path of the state-of-the-art type, sought to map the information presented in academic productions stored in the repository, Theses and Dissertations Catalog of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). Following the mapping, the literature review on the concept of professionalism, the reading of the summaries of the productions found, their records and analysis of the data collected so that after this step it was possible to establish some categories, as well as highlight elements that constitute a process that we can call school pedagogical coordination professionality. The theoretical foundation of the concepts of professionalism was used respectively by the authors Dubar (2005), Nóvoa (2017), and on the attributions and knowledge of the pedagogical coordination, the authors Placco, Souza and Almeida (2012), who bring an important contribution to the study of the theme.

Public Governance and Intellectual Property Management in Research Funding Agencies

This article aims to analyze the position of the Research Support Foundations (FAPs) regarding the obligation of co-ownership in patent deposits, arising from financial support promoted by them. To this end, a search was proposed in the database of the National Institute of Industrial Property – INPI for FAPs and federal development agencies. For the search of international development agencies, the Orbit Intelligence database was used. The results of this study show that the Foundation for Research Support of the State of Minas Gerais (FAPEMIG) remains the holder with 522 deposits, followed by the Foundation for Research Support of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP) with 275 deposits and the other FAPs with rare cases. Although the three federal agencies do not require joint ownership, 522 deposits with joint ownership by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) and 27 deposits with joint ownership by the Financier of Studies and Projects (FINEP) were found, however, no deposit was found on behalf of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES). And among the 4 main countries analyzed, France is the only one in which there is a concentration of ownership in a central development agency, this can be explained by the fact that France's Intellectual Property Policy makes this type of requirement. In the other countries surveyed, there is no such requirement for participation in co-ownership of patent deposits. In interviews with managers of the FAPs, it was evident that a percentage of them claim that the arguments for participation or not show advantages, and from the point of view of those who do not defend participation, pointing out disadvantages.

Diversities in the scientific production of PPGED/UFS 2015-2019

The article presents results of the research project “Rethinking issues about inequalities and diversities in higher education in an intersectional perspective”, developed within the scope of CAPES/PROAP. Here, we deal with scientific productions that address diversity in the Graduate Program in Education (PPGED) of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) in the last five years. It consists of a qualitative research of documentary and bibliographic type, with the objective of designing the production of knowledge referring to diversities, in the line of research Education, Communication and Diversity, highlighting the conceptions of diversities. We used the Catalog of Theses and Dissertations from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES) and analyzed 26 dissertations and 9 theses in the program that have diversities in title, summary and keywords. That is, in the elements identifiable by the search software of the Sucupira platform. We noticed that the program's publications on diversities have established more intersections with the categories gender and sexualities.

A AFETIVIDADE NA RELAÇÃO PROFESSOR-ALUNO E O PROCESSO ENSINO-APRENDIZAGEM: DISCUSSÃO DE DADOS MEDIATIZADA PELO PORTAL CAPES

The study discusses theinfluence of affectivity on teacher-student relationships and their contributions to the teaching-learning process. The objective is to highlightthe importance of affectivity throughout the schooling process and its respective impacts on student preparation and learning, also alerting to the need for new academic research on affectivity in the classroom. The problem that guided this study is what are the contributions of affectivity in the teacher-student relationship and its impacts on the teaching-learning process.The structure of the article is divided into three main themes, which are: conceptualizations and reflections on learning and affectivity, the importance of affectivity in the teacher-student relationship and in learning, and finally, the datasurvey and analysis. The methodology is bibliographic in nature, enriched with the state of knowledge, from the Periodic Portal of the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (CAPES), in the last decade. Of the articles found, nineteen focus on the descriptor affectivity, covering the stages of early childhood education, elementary school, high school, higher education and distance education, which showed the importance of the teacher and his influence through the development of interactions, harmonious and affective relationships established from early childhood education to higher education. It was concluded that, throughout the schooling process, affectivity is an essential factor, which generates positive reflexes in education, and that the teacher is essential to the development of affective relationships established at all levels of education.

Surveillance of Zoonotic Tuberculosis in Low-Income, Middle-Income and High-Income Countries: A Systematic Review

Background: Little is known about Zoonotic tuberculosis (zTB) burden across the globe. We aimed to describe zTB surveillance programs in WHO signatory countries, evaluating its intersection with income levels and Mycobacterium bovis risk of transmission. Methods: For this systematic review, we searched the main articles databases and also gray literature for guides documents published between 1980 and 2019. For inclusion, the articles and guides documents had to be in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish or Italian. Only original articles, narrative and systematic reviews have been accepted and the guides documents should be available at official websites. We excluded articles not focusing on epidemiology, control and surveillance. We used bovine TB cases in livestock and wildlife populations as a proxy for the country’s risk of zTB using data from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), from 2015 to 2018. Countries were classified according to the level of income (World Bank's classification) and strength of zTB surveillance. The study is registered with PROSPERO number CRD42018090603. Findings: We selected 13 articles and 208 guides documents including data from 119/194 countries (61·3%). We found that there is a lack of surveillance data of zTB in over half of the 194 WHO signatory countries, and where it exists, is concentrated in countries where the risk of zTB is lower. Majority of surveillance systems perform passive surveillance and are not integrated into the One Health perspective, which was evidenced in 4/119 (3·4%) countries, all high-income. Interpretation: Our findings highlights weaknesses in ZTB surveillance worldwide which reflects lack of information that could support an adequate understanding of its burden, especially in countries with major risk for Mycobacterium bovis transmission. To face this challenge, efforts will be needed to promote intersectoral policies, implementing the One Health strategy.
