The article touches upon the problem of organization of partnership between modern primary school students as representatives of the Alpha generation. Scientific works on the outlined problem are analyzed: the essence of the concept of «partner interaction» in the philosophical, psychological, sociological and pedagogical contexts; Guidelines for distinguishing between models of partnership and traditional interaction at school are indicated. Particular attention is paid to the problem of developing students' emotional and social intelligence as important factors of effective partnership. It has been researched that the enrichment of emotional competence of schoolchildren contributes to the awareness and regulation of emotional states and behavior, the development of a sense of empathy and understanding of the world of other people, the formation of communication skills and the ability to resolve conflicts, the reduction of aggressiveness and antisocial behavior. And also, that the school class is an important formal group where the child's socialization takes place through relationships with classmates, emotionally rich and activity-mediated contacts and connections. To organize partnerships, it is necessary to select the most effective means, not forgetting that mutual understanding, mutual assistance, interdependence and complementarity are important in the student-student relationship. It is indicated that during the lessons it is advisable for the teacher to use role-playing games and special tasks that will contribute to mastering the techniques of interpersonal communication. Students gain experience of interaction in variable micro-groups and teams in the classroom, learn to recognize the contribution of others to joint work, the ability to adequately assess their abilities and capabilities, their contribution to joint activities related to the search for new information, the creation of research projects. Modern approaches and conditions for the organization of partnership interaction are outlined, specific examples are given.

From Tradition to Transformation: Bharatanatyam Explored through Feminist and Psychological Contexts

This study explores the evolution and contemporary significance of Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical dance form. It examines the evolution of the dance form, focusing on the portrayal of stories, emotions, and characters. The research also reimagines the Ashta-Nayikas, the eight main female archetypes in classical dance, through the lens of contemporary psychology. The study uses qualitative data analysis, including media studies, historical texts, and in-depth interviews, to reveal the dynamic interaction between modernity and tradition. The study highlights the dance form’s innate resilience and the need for dance artists to develop coping mechanisms to navigate the intricacies of tradition and modernity.

Integrating Islamic Psychological Principles in Enhancing Students' Academic Resilience

This study examines the concept of resilience within the context of Islamic psychology, an area relatively unexplored by conventional psychological approaches. Employing qualitative methodology, particularly document review, this research aims to understand how principles documented in the Quran and Hadith can influence individual resilience in facing academic stress and challenges. The data analysis process involves data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing, emphasizing validation through credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability of results. Key findings indicate that the practical application of Islamic values enhances academic resilience, reflected in individuals’ resilience when facing academic tasks. This study provides new insights into educational psychology by offering an alternative perspective that integrates spiritual dimensions into education. This enriches our understanding of resilience, while also making a significant theoretical contribution to the development of modern educational paradigms. By exploring the methods of Islamization of knowledge, this study also delves into aspects of resilience rooted in Islamic values, providing constructive solutions to criticisms of modern psychology often considered detached from divine values. The practical implications of this research are expected to support more effective mentoring and teaching efforts in value-based educational contexts.

Playing Politics: An Upper Echelons' Perspective on Political Behaviour During Acquisition Decision Making

AbstractThe pre‐deal phase of an acquisition is complex, with high stakes and high uncertainty. Consequently, acquisition decision making can be seen as an inherently political process. While political behaviour is a central concept in organizational theory, and despite its inevitability during acquisition decision making owing to the contested nature of the pre‐deal phase, there is a shortage of theory and evidence concerning the antecedents, consequences and moderators of political behaviour. To address these theoretical shortcomings, we develop and test a theoretical model of political behaviour focusing on the psychological context of the top management team (TMT). We argue that while political behaviour risks undermining acquisition performance, the degree of board involvement during the pre‐deal phase can enable some TMTs to attenuate the damaging effects of political behaviour. Further, we theorize two key antecedents variously fuelling and constraining political behaviour. We contend that while TMT cohesion reduces political behaviour, cognitive diversity increases political behaviour while suppressing the potential for TMT cohesion to prevent political behaviour. We test our theoretical model using a field‐based sample of 109 UK acquisitions, combining multiple informants with objective secondary data.

The potential of infra-low frequency neurofeedback training in peak performance: The first double-blinded placebo-controlled longitudinal study in healthy adults

Infra-low frequency neurofeedback training (ILF-NFT) has shown promise in addressing cognitive and affective distress symptoms across a range of psychiatric disorders. This study tested ILF-NFT's effects in a double-blinded, placebo-controlled longitudinal context in healthy psychology students.Across five weeks, forty-two healthy psychology students (aged 18–35) were randomly allocated into two groups, receiving ten sessions of 30 minutes of active and sham ILF-NFT. Dependent variables were measured before, following, and two months after the intervention and were comprised of: heartrate variability assessments as a measure of stress resilience; digit span, n-back, trail making and go-no-go task measures of executive functioning performance; and SCL-90-R, WHOQOL-Bref, and peak performance measures of subjective self-report. Statistical analysis was performed using an ANCOVA and compared across groups correcting for baseline differences and multiple comparisons.ANCOVA analyses revealed no significant differences across active and placebo groups in any dependent variables, when correcting for multiple comparisons. Thus, the remaining analyses focused on questionnaire correlations. Here, significant correlations were observed between the novel peak performance questionnaire with the SCL-90-R and WHOQOL-Bref, confirming its construct and retest validity.Despite several methodological limitations, including a potential type-2 error, this study highlights limited effects of ILF-NFT in healthy volunteers. Future research should thus focus on clinically driven experimental designs to explore ILF-NFT's potential in psychiatric contexts. Further research utilization of the novel peak performance questionnaire is recommended for measures of peak performance.

The article is devoted to the theoretical and methodological substantiation of the content and functioning of an individual’s life successfulness as a meta-resource that performs an acceptor function, which consists in anticipating and assessing the results of subjective activity in the process of reflection by the subject of his own goals, values and meanings, taking into account integrative qualities and emotional experiences in the “goal” space. value-meaning." The work substantiates the significance of this meta-resource for the personality of employees of internal affairs bodies and indicates its predictive role in relation to indicators of professional success.
 The data from a theoretical analysis of life successfulness as a meta-resource of the individual are summarized, taking into account the philosophical and socio-philosophical contexts, as well as the leading directions of modern psychology. The main structural elements are identified and their functioning is explained from the perspective of integrating the principles of resource, regulatory and subjective approaches and the theory of functional systems. Attention is paid to the relationship between conscious self-regulation and personal resources, and their intersecting functioning is explained. The postulate of the theory of functional systems about understanding the acceptor is extrapolated to the psychological context, in particular when justifying the meaning and functions of life successfulness as a meta-resource of the individual.
 Life successfulness as a meta-resource function in the space of goals, values and meanings of the individual, through the interconnection of reflexive-technological, reflexive-axiological, reflexive-ontological mechanisms; instrumental, socio-psychological and dispositional qualities of the individual; practical, moral and existential emotional experiences.
 The prospects for further development of the meta-resource concept of life successfulness are outlined.

Towards a fuller understanding of the healing of childhood parental wounds: an international study of adult children’s forgiveness. ‘No matter how deep the hurt’

ABSTRACT This article describes a study of adult children’s forgiveness processes following severe childhood parental injury. Consistent with the phenomenological tradition of qualitative research in-depth interviews were conducted with forty-eight participants in the Netherlands, Romania, and Israel to capture their lived experiences of recovery, using forgiveness, from early parental injury. The findings highlight the commanding importance of reaching a conscious wiled decision to pursue child–parent forgiveness, such decision-making fuelled by insights facilitated by the processes of adult development and reinforced by a pro-forgiveness environment. Subsequent to this initial decision, recognizing the joint humanity of parent and child and scaffolding an understanding of the parent and his or her injury within its temporal, cultural and psychological context is of paramount importance to the eventual attainment of forgiveness. Forgiveness, although an ongoing journey, brings with it important fruits. Study findings, including their various nation-specific nuances, are discussed in light of the existing literature on forgiveness processes. Implications of study findings for clinicians working with individuals to facilitate forgiveness of parentally inflicted wounds are considered.

Learning from complexity: subject to, confused and chaotic phenomenon

The human being has been, for centuries, the subject of study from various scientific approaches; in some of them it has been found that he is an individual who possesses behaviors like some animals. However, he differs from them by his ability to anticipate, analyze and conceptualize the tools used for his survival and, in addition, by his capacity to adapt to the change to which he is continuously exposed. Therefore, in the development of these skills, thousands of years of study of their environment have been necessary; that is why learning has been one of the main instruments of the evolution of human beings. Thus, in this article of reflection, there are some of the aspects that must be taken into account when transmitting knowledge, whether in the social, cultural, emotional, academic, psychological context, among others; that is, for this to be a holistic learning, based on the fact that the teaching-learning processes do not occur in a linear way, but that these converge in a complex and chaotic manner.

Signs from the Depths

ABSTRACT The recent publication of C. G. Jung’s notebooks, The Black Books, provides fresh insights into the project of self-exploration undertaken by the founder of analytical psychology. Jung developed a technique for bringing the contents of his unconscious into his conscious psyche. On occasion he brought forth signs he called “runes” and “hieroglyphs.” These appear in The Black Books, in several mandala sketches, and in paintings in The Red Book. They were interpreted by imaginary entities conjured up through his method of active imagination. Here Jung’s enigmatic graphic language is analyzed and placed within the historical, cultural, and psychological context from which it emerged.

Reflections on creating systemic practitioner trainings within DClinPsy courses: Building relationships and learning across psychology and systemic contexts

We write this paper as DClinPsy staff who have implemented Association of Family Therapy and Systemic Practice (AFT) Foundation and Intermediate level accreditation embedded within DClinPsy training. We describe the context and landscape in which this has happened, the positives we believe it brings and the challenges we have faced along the way. We offer suggestions for courses on this journey of approaches, methods and techniques that we have found helpful, and reflect on our next steps. Within the paper we include the voice of a trainee who is completing this training currently and consider what clinical psychologists in the NHS can do to support trainees and courses in achieving systemic secondary accreditation.

Presentation of the artist in the regional journal periodical

The artistic component of the literary-artistic and public-political magazine Literary Ternopil» (2008–2019) was formed by publications that show the current state of painting in the region through familiarization with the personalities of artists and their creative work. The article highlights and analyzes typical textual means of presenting the artist in the specialized section «Artist of the Number». As a result of the research, it was found that the text presentation is based on the involvement of elements of drawing, which are manifested in the depiction of heroes in action, retelling of life situations, depiction of the area, interiors, etc. The plot-compositional organization of the texts includes biographical, everyday, socio-political, historical, psychological contexts, to reflect which the authors provide data on education, places of creative work, participation in exhibitions, obtaining titles, cooperation with various artists, describe external signs, worldview and inner qualities of artists. Expressions of art critics, connoisseurs of painting, and artists themselves are used compositionally. The presenters of the artists are the titles of the publications in which the starting point of the image is formed. It remains constant or changes: it can be individual / collective, synchronous / diachronic, shift in space (natural environment, premises, native land, abroad), have an emotional / intellectual dimension, focus on a situation or involve a whole range of information. An important component of the presentation is the art history characteristic in combination with evaluative and figurative expressions. For this purpose, artistic means of speech and stylistically marked vocabulary (names of subjects of professional activity, artistic directions, styles, and techniques), names of famous Ukrainian artists, names of iconic paintings, their cycles, names of exhibitions, etc., are involved. All these aspects are aimed at reflecting the spiritual, intellectual, creative development of the artist.

Toward a multi-level approach to the study of the intergenerational transmission of trauma: Current findings and future directions.

A central goal in the field of developmental psychopathology is to evaluate the complex, dynamic transactions occurring among biological, psychological, and broader social-cultural contexts that predict adaptive and maladaptive outcomes across ontogeny. Here, I briefly review research on the effects of a history of childhood maltreatment on parental, child, and dyadic functioning, along with more recent studies on the intergenerational transmission of trauma. Because the experience and sequelae of child maltreatment and the intergenerational transmission of trauma are embedded in complex biopsychosocial contexts, this research is best conceptualized in a developmental psychopathology framework. Moreover, there is a pressing need for investigators in this area of study to adopt dynamic, multi-level perspectives as well as using developmentally guided, sophisticated research methods. Other directions for research in this field are suggested, including the implementation of collaborative interdisciplinary team science approaches, as well as community-based participatory research, to increase representation, inclusion, and equity of community stakeholders. A greater focus on cultural and global perspectives is also recommended.

Navigating growing pains: Tensions in integrating critical race theory in psychology and strategies for addressing them

AbstractRecently there has been an uptake in the call for research that explores race and racism within the context of psychology. Researchers can use Critical Race Theory (CRT) to do so. However, scholars within the field of psychology may confront growing pains when integrating psychology research with CRT due to their respective inquiry worldviews—postpositivism and critical—which result in several tensions pertaining to the framing of research and methods. These tensions may limit the uptake of CRT in psychology and may cause people to struggle to understand CRT. Therefore in this article, we describe (a) CRT and related frameworks, (b) tensions when integrating CRT into psychology, and (c) strategies to attenuate the tensions. Additionally, we highlight the importance of identity and the political choice of using CRT. It is critical for psychology researchers to challenge dominant postpositivist research inquiry worldviews and deconstruct what is considered “legitimate knowledge.” By doing so, we can (a) validate experiences and vast forms of knowledge that shape the reality of People of Color and our families, communities, and cultures and (b) challenge systems of oppression.

The article reveals for the first time the content of the patient’s socio-psychological contour, as the totality of his social connections and interactions with various people (institutions), as well as the dynamics that arise as a result of this interaction from the moment the need for transplantation arises, in the perioperative and post-transplantation periods in a psychological context. The variety of factors, as well as the technological, medical and psychological complexity of the process of organ transplantation for planets living in a certain social environment, creates the need for an integrated approach to the organization of medical care for transplantation, taking into account the contour developed by the authors.

Nondual States Are Not a Thing: This Inspiring New Age Spiritual Idea is Neither Advaita Vedanta Nor Psychology

The term “nondual states” has gained some currency as applied to states of mind in which the sense of self is softened, expanded, or shifted from conventional experience. Nonduality is a metaphysical concept about the nature of reality, commonly associated with the Advaita Vedanta school of Indian religion. New Age religious thought has applied the term “nondual” to states of consciousness that are believed to contact or apprehend this speculated metaphysical ideal. However, this use is incompatible with lineage-based teachings of Advaita Vedanta, inadequately precise to serve as a psychological construct, and improper as an insertion of New Age metaphysical notions into a psychological context. The paper draws on the author’s personal engagement with doctrines of Advaita Vedanta received from a scholar and lineage-holding teacher, Carol Whitfield.

Internet, App-Based, and Casino Gambling: Associations Between Modality, Problem Gambling, and Substance Use.

Technology-based gambling prevalence is not well understood since relevant questions are not included in health and disease surveillance studies. The current study sought to estimate the prevalence of internet-based and smartphone app-based gambling, along with casino gambling, in a sample of U.S. young adults and determine if gambling modality was associated with problem gambling symptoms or substance use. The 2022 Rhode Island Young Adult Survey included N = 1,022 students between the ages of 18 to 25 years old who had lived in Rhode Island, with n = 414 lifetime gamblers (40.5%) included in this study. Odds of gambling via a smartphone app and on the internet, respectively, were greater in heterosexual cis-males compared to heterosexual cis-females (OR[95%CI] = 3.14 [1.25,7.91]; OR[95%CI] = 6.30 [2.05,19.3]). Internet gambling amongst employed students was less common than among those who were not a student and not employed (OR[95%CI] = 0.25 [0.06,1.00]). Odds of problem gambling symptoms were higher among those who gambled via a smartphone app (OR[95%CI] = 3.23 [1.21,8.60]). All forms of gambling were associated with alcohol consumption, although the strength of the association was stronger in app and internet gamblers. Casino gamblers were more likely to be high risk marijuana and illicit drug users. The rising availability of app gambling coupled with its social, psychological, and cultural context may presents an alternative pathway to problem gambling. Bans on internet gambling and/or strict guidelines on the frequency of wagers and cash placed per wager, should be considered as viable methods to mitigate associated consequences.

Wine sensory experience in hospitality education: a systematic review

PurposeThe aim of this paper is to examine the existing literature circa 2010–2023 of introductory wine education involving sensory experience components in an objective, transparent and replicable manner. Sensory experience education normally involves the usage of the five senses (smell, taste, sight, feel and hearing) as means to demonstrate, scaffold and illuminate introductory-level wine curricula. This study identifies the methodologies used in existing in educational wine sensory experience literature, identifies the pedagogical utilities of current wine research and explores findings useful for wine educators.Design/methodology/approachThis paper uses the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis (PRISMA) for literature review reporting.FindingsFrom the existing body of literature involving wine sensory experience in education (N = 20), five pedagogical utilities emerged from the dataset: wine sensory experience training (n = 7), wine sensory analysis techniques (n = 5), teaching environment (n = 5), wine and food pairing (n = 2) and psychological context (n = 1). Furthermore, experimental design is the preferred method (n = 14) of research related to wine sensory experience in education.Practical implicationsThis study provides utility for wine educators at the college and university level and may provide perspective and tools for firms seeking consumer engagement through wine education.Originality/valueTo the researchers' knowledge, there are no literature reviews that explore wine sensory experience in education. Thus, the primary contributions of this study are threefold: identification of current gaps in wine education research, identification of future research questions and avenues of study, and resources for curriculum improvement of introductory wine courses.

DRENAGEM SUBCUTÂNEA NO TRATAMENTO DO LINFEDEMA EM DOENTES COM CÂNCER DE PRÓSTATA

ABSTRACT Introduction: this article sought to deepen knowledge about the subcutaneous lymphatic drainage technique as a form of palliative treatment for secondary lymphedema in prostate cancer patients. Development: literature review carried out between November 13 and 17, 2023, in the Medline and CINHAL databases. The literature supporting this analysis is scarce, both in terms of studying the technique on site and standardizing the procedure. These considerations explain the benefits that the technique offers in improving men’s quality of life, in the sexual, psychological and social contexts, and in the economic repercussions. Conclusion: subcutaneous lymphatic drainage is a technique that is little known, and little used in clinical practice, but it is an option to consider in the treatment of secondary lymphedema in a palliative context, as it can improve the patient’s quality of life.

Discovering cyclic causal models in psycho-logical research

Statistical network models have become popular tools for analyzing multivariate psychological data. In empirical practice, network parameters are often interpreted as reflecting causal relationships – an approach that can be characterized as a form of causal discovery. Recent research has shown that undirected network models are likely to perform poorly as causal discovery tools in the context of discovering acyclic causal structures, a task for which many alternative methods are available. However, acyclic causal models are likely unsuitable for many psychological phenomena, such as psychopathologies, which are often characterized by cycles or feedback loop relationships between symptoms. A number of cyclic causal discovery methods have been developed, largely in the computer science literature, but they are not as well studied or widely applied in empirical practice. In this paper, we provide an accessible introduction to the basics of cyclic causal discovery for empirical researchers. We examine three different cyclic causal discovery methods and investigate their performance in typical psychological research contexts by means of a simulation study. We also demonstrate the practical applicability of these methods using an empirical example and conclude the paper with a discussion of how the insights we gain from cyclic causal discovery relate to statistical network analysis.
