Fostering a “Culture of Conflict” among Children

This article aims to explore the constructive resolution of interpersonal conflicts, with a particular focus on childhood. It highlights the necessity for “conflict education” and the cultivation of a “culture of conflict” from early stages of life, emphasizing the importance of developing appropriate competencies during childhood for harmoniously resolving both personal and interpersonal conflicts. These are especially emotional-social and cognitive skills as well as problem-solving abilities. Well-designed programs for fostering constructive conflict resolution among children, along with specific methods and heuristic techniques, facilitate the development of a range of these competencies in children.

The Effect of Conflict Management Strategies on Job Satisfaction: A Study in the Accounting Sector

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of conflict management on job satisfaction for the accounting sectorand to examine the effect between the conflict management strategies used by employees and their job satisfaction. Also, demographic characteristics are to contribute to the related literature by examining the effect of job satisfaction, conflict management, and conflict management strategies. In this study, survey research method and relational screening model were used. Then, e-survey was applied to 451 accounting professionals through convenience sampling among approximately 200.000 accounting sector employees operating in Turkey and 403 questionnaires were analysed. The factor loadings of the scales were examined, followed by reliability and normal distribution analyses of the relevant scales and then parametric tests were performed. Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis were performed to examine the relationship between constructive, adaptive, coercive, avoidant and compromising subscales of job satisfaction scale and conflict management strategy scale. According to the results, conflict management has a positive effect on job satisfaction. Also, constructive, accommodative, compromise, avoidant and coercive conflict management strategies were also found to have a positive effect on job satisfaction. When demographic characteristics were analysed, it was found that there was no significant difference between gender, marital status, age, education level variables and job satisfaction, conflict management, adaptive, constructive, coercive, avoidant and accommodative conflict management strategies. It was observed that there was a significant difference between the professional experience variable and compatible conflict management strategy, also between the occupation variable and coercive conflict management strategy.

Особенности сотрудничества учащихся начальной школы в зависимости от характеристик образовательной среды

The relevance of the study is due to the requirements of the Federal State Educational Standard for Primary General Education which records meta-subject learning outcomes. These results include the mastery of such cooperation skills as setting the goal of a collaborative activity and defining the ways to achieve it, role allocation, mutual control, self- and peer-assessment of students’ behavior, and constructive conflict resolution. The purpose of the study is to determine the characteristics of the learning environment in which students demonstrate a high level of cooperation skills. The study hypothesizes that students demonstrate a higher level of cooperation skills in the environment that provides opportunities for their free activity, independent choice, reliance on their personal interests, independence of judgments and actions, structured and psychologically safe competence, i.e. satisfying the child’s needs for autonomy, and connectedness with others. Participants: 1384 fourth-graders and management teams from 37 secondary schools in 21 regions of the Russian Federation. Methods (tools): to assess cooperation skills we used the monitoring tool “4C” (c ritical thinking, creativity, communication, cooperation) developed at the Center for Psychometrics and Measurements in Education at the HSE Institute of Education, which contains scenario-type tasks in a computer format; to determine the characteristics of the environment we used the vector modeling techniques and the evaluation of quantitative parameters of the educational environment (V. A. Yasvin). Results. The study shows the correlation between the level of students’ cooperation and the environment types identified on the basis of the ‘freedom-dependence’ and ‘activity-passivity’ scales, as well as on the basis of the quantitative parameters of the environment. Conclusions. The study has determined the environment characteristics associated with a high level of cooperation skills in primary school. They include predominance of active and free types of environment, structuring, safety, breadth, and intensity. Practical significance. Management and teaching teams of educational organizations may be recommended to take into account the results obtained when choosing priorities for designing and organizing the environment aimed at personal development.

Agreeableness and Conflict Management in Daily Life: The Impact of Prosocial Traits on Psychological Adaptation

These strategies reduce interpersonal tensions, promote trust, and enhance relational satisfaction. Furthermore, agreeableness contributes significantly to psychological adaptation by fostering positive social interactions, enhancing emotional regulation, and promoting adaptive coping mechanisms, which together support resilience in the face of life’s challenges. The broader implications of agreeableness extend beyond individual relationships, influencing organizational dynamics, community engagement, and societal harmony by reducing conflict, fostering inclusivity, and bridging ideological divides. This paper highlights the importance of agreeableness in shaping both personal well-being and social cohesion, emphasizing its role in promoting a more empathetic, cooperative, and resilient society.

CONFLICT MANAGEMENT FROM A PRACTITIONER PERSPECTIVE: SEBUAH STRATEGI MEMPERSIAPAKAN ORGANISASI UNTUK TERLIBAT DALAM KONFLIK KONSTRUKTIF

Conflict is an inevitability inherent in human life. Conflict within organizations cannot be eradicated as it is a logical consequence of individual interactions that result in disputes or gaps between expectations and reality. Knowledge about conflict management and strategies for preparing organizations to engage in constructive conflict is essential. This study is qualitative research utilizing a literature review. The results of this study indicate that the initial step in preparing an organization to engage in constructive conflict is to build trust through discussions on hypothetical cases and formulating possible scenarios, developing dialogue and mediation skills by training specific communication skills, and enhancing understanding of general behaviors that may arise as responses during conflict. The next steps involve deepening the commitment to diversity and social justice by being open to others' perspectives, acknowledging the uniqueness of others' views and understandings, considering internal and external factors that may influence others' views and attitudes, repeating and summarizing what has been communicated by others, considering expressions and hidden messages in communication, setting clear boundaries, determining basic discussion rules

Role of Emotional Intelligence in Managing Interpersonal Conflicts in Ethiopia

Purpose: The aim of the study was to analyze the role of emotional intelligence in managing interpersonal conflicts in Ethiopia. Methodology: This study adopted a desk methodology. A desk study research design is commonly known as secondary data collection. This is basically collecting data from existing resources preferably because of its low cost advantage as compared to a field research. Our current study looked into already published studies and reports as the data was easily accessed through online journals and libraries. Findings: In Ethiopia, emotional intelligence is pivotal in managing interpersonal conflicts by enhancing individuals' ability to understand and navigate emotions effectively. Individuals with high emotional intelligence are better at recognizing and empathizing with others' perspectives, which leads to more constructive conflict resolution. These individuals can maintain composure, employ effective communication strategies, and foster a collaborative environment. Unique Contribution to Theory, Practice and Policy: Emotional intelligence theory, social and emotional learning (SEL) theory & conflict resolution theory may be used to anchor future studies on the role of emotional intelligence in managing interpersonal conflicts in Ethiopia. Organizations should implement targeted training programs to enhance employees' emotional intelligence skills, focusing on areas such as empathy, emotional regulation, and communication. Policymakers should promote and support the integration of emotional intelligence into workplace policies and practices. Policies should encourage the inclusion of EI development programs as part of professional development initiatives and performance management systems.

Channel diversity, constructive and destructive conflicts: the moderating role of network centrality

PurposeThis study aims to investigate the impact of channel diversity on constructive and destructive conflicts in manufacturer-distributor relationships, as well as the mediating role of distributor opportunism and the moderating role of distributor network centrality.Design/methodology/approachThis paper collected channel dual data to represent channel behavior in manufacturer-distributor relationships accurately. Using 208 matched manufacturer distributor bilateral data from Chinese B2B firms validate the conceptual model. This paper tested the proposed hypothesis using AMOS 24.0 software.FindingsChannel diversity strengthens constructive conflict and weakens destructive conflict between manufacturers and distributors. Distributor opportunism plays a mediating role between channel diversity and constructive conflict. Distributor network centrality reinforces the positive impact of channel diversity on constructive conflict and the impact of channel diversity on destructive conflict.Originality/valueThis research contributes significantly to developing channel diversity and conflict theory by expanding the dyadic view to a network view. It also provides valuable insights for managers, highlighting the importance of maintaining a good relationship with distributors with high network centrality. The research results allow the constructive aspects of channel conflict to manifest fully and enhance the effectiveness of channel management. Distributor firms should prioritize communication and contact with network members to increase their network centrality, enabling them to take more initiative, exert influence and establish advantageous cooperative partnerships with manufacturers.

The association of spontaneous self-affirmation with relationship functioning

In this study, we aimed to investigate whether spontaneous self-affirmation is associated with better functioning in romantic relationships. For this aim, we conducted a pre-registered study with 335 participants (168 women, 164 men, one trans woman, one non-binary, and one genderqueer woman) cohabiting with their partner for at least one year. Participants responded to scales measuring spontaneous self-affirmation, relationship satisfaction, commitment, intimacy, conflict frequency, conflict resolution styles, and attachment anxiety and avoidance. Results indicated that spontaneous self-affirmation is significantly related to relationship satisfaction, commitment, intimacy, and constructive conflict resolution style of positive problem solving but not conflict frequency and destructive conflict resolution styles (i.e., conflict engagement, withdrawal, and compliance) after controlling for age, education, financial status, and the number of children. Results also showed that spontaneous self-affirmation is associated with relationship satisfaction (but no other indicators of relationship functioning) after controlling for the attachment dimensions of anxiety and avoidance. These results provide the first evidence indicating that spontaneous self-affirmation could be a potential resource for a satisfying relationship but its shared variance with attachment is mostly responsible for its association with relationship functioning indicators.

The Role of Acculturation in the Realization of Constructive Conflict

The article highlights the criteria of «conflict competence» within the framework of an integrative model that combines dispositional and situational factors of conflicts. The possibilities of studying different types of conflicts in the context of combining the focus on fundamental research of a general psychological nature (to substantiate the term, criteria and role of conflict competence of an individual) and the practical use of knowledge about conflict competence in order to improve interpersonal interaction (including psychological, pedagogical, socio-psychological aspects and their places in the psychology of pedagogical activity) are substantiated. The novelty of the author’s approach lies in the substantiation of the need to develop a model for the formation and development of conflict competence in the process of socialization of emigrant children. The expediency of studying the combination of traditionally identified mechanisms of social perception with the manifestation of the development (actualgenesis) of thinking and personal regulation in the formation and manifestation of conflict competence of a teacher is substantiated.

CONFLICT IN ORGANIZATIONS: ITS CONNECTION TO A HEALTHY AND PRODUCTIVE WORK ENVIRONMENT

In this day and age, conflict is a topic that is still being discussed. Conflict cannot be completely avoided in an organization, but it can be managed by minimizing it. The study employed a qualitative approach using systematic literature review methods to analyze and synthesize existing research on organizational conflict and its implications for healthy and productive work environments. Data collection involved reviewing 30 articles from reputable national and international journals, focusing on conflict management, leadership styles, and the impact of external factors on organizational dynamics. Effective conflict management by organizational leaders is essential in fostering a cooperative environment for handling conflicts within teams. Constructive conflict management can lead to positive changes and learning experiences for all parties involved in organizational conflicts. Effective conflict resolution strategies can stimulate innovative problem-solving among employees and prevent a decline in motivation and creativity due to high levels of conflict.

Managing workplace interpersonal conflicts: Harnessing employees’ emotional intelligence and organizational learning

Purpose The present study explores the need to strengthen the organizational learning culture to aid constructive conflict management through high levels of employees’ emotional intelligence. Design/methodology/approach In the current study, with relevant support from the literature, the authors review the need to develop a high degree of emotional intelligence through knowledge acquisition, sharing and utilization for constructive conflict management in the workplace. Findings Emotional intelligence significantly aids employees in integrating newly obtained information with the organization’s established processes. Individuals with a high degree of emotional intelligence possess the aptitude to deal with dysfunctional task, process, and relationship conflicts with a centralized focus on organizational learning. Originality/value The authors have proposed a learning model which indicates that individuals with a high degree of emotional intelligence possess the aptitude to deal with dysfunctional task, process and relationship conflicts. With a focus on organizational learning, the model can aid managers in developing training initiatives for knowledge acquisition, knowledge sharing and knowledge utilization among employees.

Relationship Between Interactional Styles and Marital Satisfaction Among Christian Married Couples in two Selected Churches in Nairobi County, Kenya

There exists a high rate of marital dissatisfaction due to marital conflicts, even among church couples. This study sought to examine the relationship between interactional styles and marital satisfaction in Christian married couples in two selected churches in Nairobi County. The study adopted a quantitative research method and used a descriptive study research design. The findings indicated a statistically significant strong positive correlation between marital satisfaction and interactional styles. The study concluded that communication was critical to the quality of a marriage. This implies that the greater the qualities of communication in a marriage, the greater the quality of marital satisfaction. The research recommended that the church should create greater awareness of the importance and significance of constructive conflict resolution as a vehicle for enhancing marital satisfaction among Christian couples.

The Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence Level and Conflict Management Strategies for Female Practicing Nurses with Dual Roles in the Inpatient Room of RSUD Sumedang

The nursing environment is unique and has the potential for conflicts to arise. Effective conflict management is crucial for redirecting disputes in a constructive direction. Emotional intelligence , as an internal personality characteristic, significantly influences conflict management. This research aims to determine the relationship between emotional intelligence and conflict management strategies. A quantitative methodology was employed, utilizing Spearman Rho correlation analysis to analyze the data. The sample in this study consisted of 107 female practicing nurses with multiple roles in the inpatient ward of RSUD Sumedang, selected using the proportional random sampling technique. The alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, indicating a significant relationship between the level of emotional intelligence and the conflict management strategies of competing, collaborating, compromising, avoiding, and accommodating, with significance levels and correlation coefficients, namely <.001 (-0.510), <.001 (0.614), 0.038 (0.201), <.001 (-0.757), and <.001 (0.688), respectively. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the level of emotional intelligence is positively correlated with conflict management strategies such as collaborating, compromising, and accommodating. Meanwhile, conflict management strategies involving avoiding and competing show a negative correlation. This demonstrates that selecting a constructive conflict management strategy requires a high level of emotional intelligence . Conversely, nurses possessing elevated emotional intelligence may lean towards avoiding or refraining from aggressive competition in conflict situations to preserve positive relationships among colleagues. Hence, there is a need for comprehensive development of emotional intelligence and conflict management training.

Detecting Areas of Improvement in Secondary Education: Listening to Management Teams and Teachers

The general aim of this research study is to detect needs and possible areas of improvement in the Basque education system. To this end, this paper describes and compares the discourses of different informants, using a qualitative methodology based on a census sample of secondary schools and students in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country (ACBC). Although our research is located in a specific geographical and cultural context, the detailed contextualisation of the study may shed light on an international level and may be transferable to other contexts that come close to the characteristics described in this article. Thus, a total of 18 secondary schools from the ACBC were selected in accordance with their effectiveness level, calculated on the basis of the results obtained in the Diagnostic Assessments (DAs) across five years. Likewise, professionals involved in the study (18 inspectors, 18 management teams, and 50 educational agents) identified certain priority areas, such as teaching-learning methods, promoting diversity, fostering an evaluative culture and leadership, resource provision, stability of the teaching staff, relationships with families, and optimisation of constructive conflict resolution. This research can help to carry out other research on other education systems based on the dimensions analysed in this article, as they have been found to be a priority for educational agents.

Team functioning in Neurorehabilitation: a mixed methods study

ABSTRACT The objective of this study was to enhance understanding of team functioning in a neurorehabilitation team by identifying the factors that impede and facilitate effective interprofessional team collaboration. We focused on team identification, psychological safety, and team learning, and conducted the research at a neurorehabilitation center treating young patients with severe acquired brain injury in the Netherlands. A mixed-methods approach was employed, integrating quantitative data from questionnaires (N = 40) with qualitative insights from a focus group (n = 6) and in-depth interviews (n = 5) to provide a comprehensive perspective on team dynamics. Findings revealed strong team identification among participants, denoting a shared sense of belonging and commitment. However, limited psychological safety was observed, which negatively affected constructive conflict and team learning. Qualitative analysis further identified deficiencies in shared mental models, especially in shared decision-making and integrated care. These results highlight the crucial role of psychological safety in team learning and the development of shared mental models in neurorehabilitation settings. Although specific to neurorehabilitation, the insights gained may be applicable to enhancing team collaboration in various healthcare environments. The study forms a basis for future research to investigate the impact of improvements in team functioning on patient outcomes in similar settings.

Leadership Model in the Management of Public Service Agency State University

The aim of this research is to describe the leadership model in managing the Public Service Agency and the factors that hinder and support leadership in the management of the Public Service Agency at Universitas Negeri Manado (Unima). This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach, in the form of research with a case study method or approach (Case Study) with 5 research subjects. The research results show that the leadership model used in managing the status of Public Service Agency State Universities is the Mapalus leadership model. The name Mapalus is used based on similarities with Unima's vision, namely Superior and Innovative Unima based on Mapalus. The mapalus leadership model is a leadership approach that prioritizes collaboration, open communication, and synergy between leaders and team members. In this model, leaders not only command from above, but also work together with team members to achieve common goals. Leaders with this leadership model build strong relationships with team members, understand their needs and potential, empower them to achieve optimal performance, and encourage active participation in decision making and create a positive and inclusive work environment. Factors that hinder leadership in managing the Public Service Agency at Unima include resistance of team members and staff to change, lack of understanding of the implications of change, uncertainty regarding changes in status, lack of support from stakeholders, resistance to existing organizational culture and lack of resources or facilities. adequate. On the other hand, factors that support leadership include open and effective communication, understanding a clear vision, involving team members and stakeholders in planning and implementation, organizational culture that supports collaboration and innovation, developing new leadership skills through training and collaboration, ensuring decisions and actions reflecting stakeholder expectations and needs, support from internal and external parties, evaluating the impact of policies and decisions through collecting feedback and analyzing performance data, effective communication in overcoming resistance to change and constructive conflict management.

Understanding Effects of Matrix Organization Using SPSS Statistics

Matrix Organization, while being complicated, the matrix organisational structure helps achieve the fundamental goal, which is to boost productivity. It has a lot of benefits. The influence of supportive work environment on work-related stress and conflict management style among emergency care nurses: A descriptive correlational study.

Stress and conflict in emergency departments are inevitable but can be managed. A supportive work environment is key to helping emergency care providers, especially nurses, constructively manage work-related stress and conflict. The aim of this study was to assess the influence of supportive work environments on work-related stress and conflict management style among emergency care nurses. A descriptive correlational research design was utilized. Data were collected from 221 staff nurses recruited from two university hospital emergency departments in Alexandria, Egypt. Three instruments were used: (1) perceived organizational support scale, (2) nurses' occupational stressors scale, and (3) conflict management style inventory. There was a highly significant correlation between supportive work environments and work-related stress (p = .000) and a significant correlation between supportive work environments and conflict management style (p = .026). Supportive work environments had a significant inverse negative relationship with work-related stress experienced by nurses (p = .001) and accounted for 51% of variance in work-related stress. Meanwhile, supportive work environments had a significant positive relationship with conflict management styles of nurses (p = .026). Work-related stress had a significant relationship with nurses' conflict management style (p = .000) and accounted for 45% of the variance in conflict management style. The style of conflict management modeled by staff within emergency departments can positively or negatively influence the work environment and level of work-related stress. There is a necessity to cultivate a supportive culture for nurses in emergency departments to develop skills for constructive conflict management styles to reduce work-related stress.

Development of a Structural Model of Emotional Divorce Based on the Dark Triad Personality Traits and Conflict Resolution Styles with the Mediation of Marital Conflicts

Objective: This study aims to model the structural equations of emotional divorce based on dark personality traits and conflict resolution styles with the mediation of marital conflicts. Methods and Materials: The research method was descriptive-correlational based on structural equations. The statistical population included all married women aged 25-50 years at Islamic Azad University (Yadegar-e-Imam, Abolfatoh Razi (Mothers), and Tehran North campuses) in the first half of 2021, selected online due to the COVID-19 pandemic using convenience sampling. The research instruments included the Emotional Divorce Questionnaire (Gottman, 1994), the Dark Triad Personality Questionnaire (Johnson & Webster, 2010), Rahim's Conflict Resolution Styles (Rahim, 1983), and the Marital Conflict Questionnaire (Sanaei, 1996). Data were analyzed using SPSS and AMOS software. Findings: The results of structural equation modeling indicated that the proposed model fits the empirical data (RMSEA = 0.063). There was a significant relationship between Machiavellianism and emotional divorce (β = 0.173), and between constructive style (β = -0.556) and non-constructive style (β = 0.26) with marital conflicts. The indirect path coefficient of narcissistic traits (P = 0.007), constructive (P = 0.011) and non-constructive conflict resolution styles (P = 0.005) with the dependent variable emotional divorce through the mediating variable of marital conflicts was significant. However, the mediating role of marital conflicts in the relationship between antisocial traits (P = 0.798) and Machiavellianism (P = 0.877) with emotional divorce was not confirmed. Conclusion: Dark personality traits and constructive conflict resolution styles can indirectly affect emotional divorce by influencing marital conflicts, in addition to their direct effect.

The article analyzes the role of conflicts in the development of enterprises and their employees. The authors of the article point to the critical importance of understanding internal conflicts to achieve efficiency and innovation in management. They divide conflicts into constructive ones, which contribute to the development of new optimization projects, and destructive ones, which lead to a break in relations and violation of cooperation norms. The author offers two main directions of conflict management: for constructive conflicts – identification of common positions and coordination of interests for joint problem solving; for destructive – identifying the interests of the parties to reach agreements. Enterprise management must provide clear guidance on requirements and organizational procedures, promote coordination and cooperation among employees, and establish common goals to motivate employees to work together to solve problems. The article emphasizes the need to develop a program-targeted approach to conflict management, which includes the development of a management system, the creation of coordination subsystems at each level of management, and the planning of actions to reconcile conflicts. The analysis of conflict situations should include the determination of the causes of the conflict, the topics of mutual disputes, the motivation of the participants and the direction of their actions. The article emphasizes that effective conflict management involves an integrated approach that ensures not only the resolution of existing contradictions, but also the development of positive aspects in the activities of the labor team. An important role is played by preventive measures, which help to avoid the occurrence of conflicts, as well as the readiness of management to resolve the conflict. The scientific novelty consists in the development and testing of a complex approach to the identification, analysis and resolution of organizational conflicts, which includes the use of innovative management methods and technologies. This study goes beyond traditional approaches to conflict resolution, proposing the integration of modern communication tools, psychological techniques, and strategic analysis to create an effective conflict management system in an enterprise.
