XXII International conference on Computational Mechanics and Modern Applied Software Systems CMMASS 2021 September 4-13, 2021 Preface This issue comprises selected works presented on the 22nd International Conference on Computational Mechanics and Modern Applied Software Systems (CMMASS 2021) held from 4 September to 13 September 2021 in Alushta (The Republic of Crimea). The Conference was hosted by Moscow Aviation Institute (national research university) in cooperation with the Laboratory «Space flight mechanics» of the Moscow Aviation Institute, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation, the Russian National Committee on Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.The objective of the Conference is to raise and discuss up-to-date questions relating to computational mechanics problems, modern software systems, parallel computing problems, far-reaching numerical approaches and various aspects of application of computational tools to solve problems in mechanics of a deformable solid, fluid dynamics, aerospace mechanics, nanomechanics and other fields. Preface: 3rd International Conference on Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS 2022)

3rd International Conference on Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences (HASS 2022) was held from June 28-29, 2022 in New York, United States. The conference is co-organized by Guangzhou College of Commerce and Asian Union of Information Technology. This HASS welcomes the sociologists, artists, designers, humanists, educators, teachers, policy makers, scholars, and graduate students, etc. from different cultural backgrounds to present and discuss research, developments and innovations in all fields of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
 The aim of HASS 2022 is to provide a platform for sociologists, artists, designers, humanists, educators, teachers, policy makers, scholars, and graduate students, etc. from different cultural backgrounds to present and discuss research, developments and innovations in all fields of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. It provides opportunities for the delegates to exchange new ideas and application experiences, to establish business or research relations and to find global partners for future collaboration.
 HASS 2022 received 227 manuscripts. And 84 submissions had been accepted by our reviewers. All papers were reviewed using a double-blind review process: authors declared their names and affiliations in the manuscript for the reviewers to see, but reviewers did not know each other’s identities, nor did the authors receive information about who had reviewed their manuscript. Many thanks go as well to all of the reviewers who helped us maintain the high quality of manuscripts. The organizing committee of IEMSS 2022 is proud to present the proceedings of the 2022 4th International Conference on Innovations in Economic Management and Social Science, held in Seoul, South Korea during May 21-22, 2022.

This proceeding includes original and peer-reviewed research papers from the 3rd International Symposium on the Frontiers of Biotechnology and Bioengineering (FBB 2022: http://www.fbbconf.org/), in Hong Kong, China during May 14-15, 2022.
 For thousands of years, humankind has used biotechnology in agriculture, food production, and medicine. Biotechnology is the research and development in the laboratory using bioinformatics for exploration, extraction, exploitation and production from any living organisms and any source of biomass by means of biochemical engineering. Bioengineering is the application of the principles of engineering and natural sciences to tissues, cells and molecules. FBB aims to bring together leading academic scientists, researchers and research scholars to exchange and share their experiences and research results on all aspects of Biotechnology and Bioengineering. It also provides a platform for academic scientists, researchers and research scholars, doctors, doctoral students and related professionals to present and discuss the most recent innovations, trends, and concerns as well as practical challenges encountered and solutions adopted in the fields of Biotechnology and Bioengineering. All authors and participants are kindly encouraged to contribute to and help shape the conference through submissions of their research abstracts, papers and posters.
 FBB 2022 received 103 submissions, and more than 30 of them had been accepted by our reviewers in FBB 2022. By submitting a paper to FBB 2022, the authors agreed to the review process and understood that papers undergo a peer-review process. Manuscripts were reviewed by appropriately qualified experts in the field selected by the Conference Committee, who gave detailed comments and-if the submission was accepted the authors would submit a revised version that took into account this feedback. The Martha Heasley Cox Center for Steinbeck Studies at San José State University continues to coordinate the Steinbeck Letters Project, which aims to create a searchable database listing of John Steinbeck’s letters starting with those in the Center’s possession.Anyone interested in more information or contributing to this project, please contact us at steinbeck@sjsu.edu.Thanks to a generous donation from Mrs. C. Suzette Ditsky, emerging Steinbeck scholars can apply to utilize the outstanding resources in the Ball State University Libraries. The Steinbeck Research Fund has established in honor of Mrs. Ditsky’s late husband, John, who passed away in 2006. Dr. Tetsumaro Hayashi, a longtime friend, said, “He was first and foremost a passionate and dedicated scholar, teacher, and mentor.” Hayashi commented that the Research Fund was “established to honor Ditsky’s long-established legacy of extending a helping hand to emerging Steinbeck scholars.”Recipients will spend a minimum of five days doing intensive research using the Steinbeck collections or other materials at the Ball State University Libraries. PREFACE

The International Conference “High-tech and Innovations in Research and Manufacturing (HIRM-2021)” successfully took place in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, on September 14-15, 2021. The organizers of HIRM 2021 were AeroSpace school (Krasnoyarsk, Russia) and IT Lab (Krasnoyarsk, Russia). The main goal of the conference was to develop the scientific cooperation between Russian and international researchers in the field of information technologies as well as technical sciences.Due to the ongoing global pandemic, the conference was held mostly in videoconference format. Participants in Krasnoyarsk could deliver their report in video class with the assistance of the organizers. Access to the online was also provided for visitors of AeroSpace schools in the lecture hall. The non-local audience joined the meeting via Zoom platform.HIRM 2021 provided researchers with an opportunity to present and discuss the most recent innovations. The participants submitted papers on a whole range of topical issues of electronic engineering, data processing, material science, industrial automation, mechatronics and electromechanics. Innovative ideas and projects were presented that can significantly improve modern manufacturing. Not only Russian researchers participated in HIRM 2021 - we also had participants from Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan.Scientists and practitioners submitted more than 100 papers in total. The editors and committees to make a success of HIRM 2021 carefully reviewed all of them. As a result, the conference proceedings were compiled. We hope that this volume will show the readers an overview of the latest advances and smart solutions in the field of manufacturing as well as theoretical research.It was a great honor to work with all the participants, the Organizing Committee members, the editors and reviewers. We would like to express our gratitude to everyone involved. VGTC Virtual Reality Service Award

The 2022 IEEE VGTC Virtual Reality Service Award goes to Kiyoshi Kiyokawa of Nara Institute of Science and Technology in recognition of his dedication, support, and many years of service contributions to the VR/AR academic community in operational capacity and in numerous leadership roles. Specifically, Prof. Kiyokawa has served on Steering Committees of IEEE VR, IEEE ISMAR, IEEE 3DUI, and several other conferences and has chaired numerous conferences successfully, including IEEE VR 2019 in Osaka, Japan. The IEEE VGTC is pleased to award Kiyoshi Kiyokawa the 2022 Virtual Reality Service Award.

The increase of world population needs more food, feed, fuel, and fiber. Meanwhile, agricultural land supply is somewhat stationary or even decreasing. Ensuring food provision requires both intensification and expansion strategies. Considering internal circumstances, options may vary across countries. Indonesia, for instance, by population growth rate at 1.3 % year−1 and increasing middle income families, the need of diversity and improved quality of food become prevalent. Nevertheless, irrigated agricultural production decreased considerably, being converted to non-agricultural uses. The deterioration of agricultural land resources has occurred due to mismanagement while climate change has worsened the conditions globally.Narrowing yield gap in the existing agricultural land has been the primary efforts worldwide. Various farming systems have been established to minimize agro-inputs while generating high yields. The efforts differ across agro-ecosystems and being specific for each country. In Indonesia, the agro-ecosystems are divided into irrigated and rainfed agricultural lands, uplands (dry- and wet-climate agricultural lands), and wetlands (tidal and non-tidal agricultural lands, including peatlands). “He put his a** in your faces:” disruption of voice and inclusion in an academic conference witnessed through collaborative ethnography and critical incident technique

In this collaborative autoethnographic piece, we present voices through critical incident technique replaying the same event at an academic conference, all seeking to understand how and why the disruption of voice occurs and what to do to counter it. We contextualize these experiences in the ideal of “sustainability of qualitative inquiry” through a feminist reflexive process, problematizing the potential for critical qualitative inquiry. We question how ownership of power, knowledge, education and voice within academic spaces can be embodied by women and other underrepresented groups. In the end, we provide a set of three potential solutions for conference committees and individuals to critically self-reflect upon to create more social justice in qualitative research spaces. Such considerations are particularly important in times of social distancing, where considerations for inclusivity for all are imperative.

The Politics of Bicameral Agreement: Why and When Do State Lawmakers Go to Conference?

AbstractThe power of conference committees is well documented and studied by scholars of the US Congress. But little is known about politics of bicameral agreement within state legislatures. Leveraging variation across states, I explore the conditions under which legislative leaders prefer formal bicameral conference negotiations to informal talks to reach final legislative agreements. Deploying an original dataset of state legislative decisions between 2005 and 2018, I find that ideologically cohesive majority parties favor the use of conferences, disproportionately relying on them to reconcile bicameral differences on salient measures. Majority parties, however, refrain from going to conference in those assemblies that empower the minority party to select its preferred conferees. The interaction of chamber rules and partisan dynamics thus shapes the contours of legislative agreements in systematic ways across the states.

The 6th International Conference on Mechanical, Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering (ICMAA 2022) will be held in Singapore from 25th to 27th February 2022 and will be held virtually due to precautionary measures to minimise the risk of COVID-19. The safety and well-being of all attendees is our top priority. At the same time, we strive to provide this long-awaited conference for many scholars and researchers to conduct academic exchanges with their peers. ICMAA2022 Conference Committee chose Zoom as the virtual platform. Subsequent conferences invite authors to give oral presentations, or poster presentations based on their research papers, followed by a short discussion. Before the meeting, all authors prepare and submit videos as backups in case of unexpected technical issues. About 80 attendees from all over the world attend the conference this time. Submitted papers are reviewed by outstanding scholars in the field of Mechanical, Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering and evaluated on the basis of their originality, innovation, technical value, and applicability. The collection presents readers with the latest research results and discoveries in the field of Mechanical, Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering. We are confident that attendees will find these talks instructive, discussions fruitful, and they will enjoy building future collaborations. The success of the conference is due to the thematic coordinators who put their expertise and experience in driving and coordinating the overall organization and operation of the conference. The project leaders of each branch devoted a lot of time and energy to solicit papers from relevant researchers to be published at the conference. The chairpersons of each session conducted the proceedings in a timely and effective manner and played an important role. Preface to AAME 2022

These proceedings contain the scholarly papers presented in two reputable joint conferences, the 5th International Conference on Aeronautical, Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering (AAME 2022). AAME have been held in different parts of the world for some years, as indicated by the number sequence. This year (2022), the conference was scheduled to be held in Haikuo, China. However, due to unexpected surge globally in COVID-19 variant in the last three months, for safety and also travel restriction reasons, it is held virtually and all participants can attend AAME conference via “Zoom”.This conference has invited keynote speakers who are professors from renowned universities in China, Canada and Russia. Delegates from around the world including China, Bulgaria, South Africa, Canada, Russia and Australia took the opportunity to share their research results and discuss potential scientific and engineering development from their work. Facilitation of the International Technical Committee which consist of members from universities and research organisations around the world is vital to the success of these conferences. All papers in these proceedings have passed the vigorous review process involving reviewers of the International Technical Committee. Preface

Due to the unstable situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic, the conference committee of 2021 9th International Conference on Environment Pollution and Prevention (ICEPP 2021) made the decision to change from a physical to a virtual conference. As a result, ICEPP 2021 was held, with great success, online through Zoom video conferencing between November 19-21, 2021.This annually-held ICEPP conference aims to provide a forum for professors, researchers, scholars and industrial pioneers all over the world to share ideas, designs and experiments in the field of environment pollution and prevention. ICEPP 2021 attracted more than 45 individuals, representing many countries including Australia, Malaysia, Korea, Singapore, Russia, Finland, Algeria, Poland, Peru, USA, South Korea, Spain, Italy, Sri Lanka, Kuwait, Philippines, South Africa, Vietnam, Germany, Indonesia, India and Thailand. The location of the organizer is St Lucia QLD 4072, Australia.During the conference, we invited three internationally-known keynote speakers and seven invited speakers to deliver papers. Prof. Edmond Yat-Man LO from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore presented a paper entitled Thermal and Flow Structures in Tropical Shallow Lakes. Prof. Koh Hock Lye from Sunway University, Malaysia presented a paper entitled Climate Change and Sea Level Rise: Mitigation and Adaptation Strategy for Coastal Populations while Prof. Richard Haynes from The University of Queensland, St Lucia, Queensland, Australia presented a paper entitled Constructed Wetland Technology for Wastewater Treatment. Then, seven invited speakers delivered insightful presentations on various aspects of environmental pollution and prevention. These papers, along with those of the participants, triggered significant scientific discussion and interesting feedback which benefited both the presenters and the wider audience.The proceedings are a compilation of the accepted papers and represent a valuable record of the conference. Considering the participants are inconvenient to travel to the conference venue due to Co-vid 19, the conference was managed with Zoom finally. It is indeed a great privilege for us to present the proceedings of ICRED2021, to the authors and delegates of the event. We hope you will find it educative and inspiring.The conference program is consisted of keynote lectures and oral presentations given by renowned scholars working in the areas of Renewable Energy and its Development from all over the world. It covered recent trends and progress made in the field of renewable energy and its development. Distinguished researchers from Japan and Australia were invited to deliver four 45-minute keynote lectures regarding the latest research discoveries in their respective areas of expertise. Also, parallel sessions’ authors made oral presentations and each presentation was confined in 15 minutes, following by question and answer. One excellent presenter will be chosen among them, depending on the technical merit, presentation file, language fluency, and application etc. for the best paper award.Authors shared the screen and attendees could discuss their work via online platform. Overall, the conference was held successfully through the platform. Our conference committee and authors were dedicated to support the success. Around 20 attendees join the conference, including authors and speakers, from Ecuador, China, South Africa, Japan, Lebanon, and Viet Nam.All accepted papers were subject to peer-review by conference committee and invited international reviewers. The papers were selected based on their quality and their relevance to the conference.I would like to express special gratitude to members of the conference committee and organizers of the conference. I would also like to thank the reviewers for their valuable time and advice which helped in improving the quality of the papers selected for presentation at the conference and for publication in the proceedings. On behalf of the organizing committee, it’s my great pleasure to bring this beautiful collection of research articles which were presented in the 2022 the 8th International Conference on Electrical Engineering, Control and Robotics (EECR 2022) held in fully virtual style during January 13-15, 2022. The papers included in the proceedings seek to highlight the advances in the almost areas of electrical engineering, control and robotics for both industries and academic applications.EECR 2022 brings together a wild range of state-of-the-art research works from electrical engineering, control and robotics disciplines and also seeks to promote the excellence in electrical engineering, control and robotics research related to the recent challenges faced. The conference provides a forum for multidisciplinary discussions with the aim of combining the research ideas in various aspects of electrical engineering, control and robotics technologies.We are glad that experts in the various fields of electrical engineering, control and robotics are presented and discussed their ideas and latest development in the field. The EECR 2022 has received a great response throughout the countries. And the accepted papers were peer-reviewed by reviewers drawn from the committees, external reviewers, and editorial board depending on the subject of the papers. Based on the paper originality, significance and clarity, 44 papers were selected under a rigorous peer-review process.Efforts taken by peer reviewers provided constructive critical comments; improvements and corrections to the authors are gratefully appreciated. We are very grateful to the keynote speakers, invited speakers, advisory committees, session chairs who selflessly contributed to the success of this conference. Also, we are thankful to all the authors who submitted papers, because of which the conference became a story of success.
