ABSTRACT The actual coal temperature of “spontaneous combustion zone” is not convenient to obtain, which causes a lot of inconvenience to the prevention and control of coal spontaneous combustion fire. The traditional temperature measurement method does not consider the influence of gas flow in the goaf, so the measured coal temperature cannot directly reflect the actual state of coal spontaneous combustion. This paper presents a method to predict the coal temperature in the “spontaneous combustion zone” based on the theoretical data obtained in the laboratory, combined with the actual coal temperature in the “dissipation zone,” and applies it to the B4 layer coal mine in Huangshan, Jiangxi Province. The results show that the method is objective and effective, and can be used for the prediction of CSC (coal spontaneous combustion) in the goaf of coal mines.
